This place looked intriguing so I came with a friend for a quick lunch. They didn't understand the quick. It took over an hour for us to get in and out. And we only got sandwiches. If it had been a more home cooked meal I would understand but the restaurant was empty. I got a turkey BLT that was alright. Way too expensive. Not worth the time or money. A friend who was with us wasn't feeling great and felt a bowl of soup and sitting down would help. We were hungry and decided this place would be good for all. That was about all it was. Friends water glass had lipstick on it. Service was less then friendly, especially since the place wasn't crowded. Friend was happy with her soup. My husband ordered a pastrami panini and said it was just ok. I ordered a panini they called a Louisiana was supposed to include Cajun chicken and Cajun sauce. The chocked was dry nothing Cajun about it, and the sauce was non existant. I got potatoe salad instead of fries it was very bland. No one checked on us even though we were in a high traffic area. Very very friendly and welcoming staff. Was seated right away and the food didn't take that long to get to the table. The roast beef was delicious and the fried chicken wasn't that good. They gave us free cheesecake at the end of our meal as well which was almost a waste because the servings were very generous. read more

A great place to eat before or after a show. The food was good and arrived shortly after I ordered it. Good sized portions and worth the money. This has to the worse diner I have ever been too in my life. This is a tourist trap! The burger was a frozen patty which they sold for $18. Not to mention that If wanted to add cheese it was an extra $2, onions or another topping $2 plus. Also for soda it was $3.50 a refill was $1.50. Now I don't mind spending money, however, this was not homemade it was frozen and warmed up, I can see into the kitchen. The food was below average and tasteless. There was no effort made. Truly sad how disgusting everything was. The waiter agreed that everything was over priced cause they wanted to make money off of tourists. Awesome burgers and fries! The place looks like a classic American diner with a menu full of comfort food. Staff was very pleasant too.

We were really looking forward to sitting outside and made a special effort to get to this place after a full day of sightseeing. It started OK because we loved where we were sitting. The picture of the tuna melt looked enticing so I ordered it. When it came, it was two pieces of bread with one slice of kraft American cheese on each one sort of melted on a pile of tuna. It didn't look enticing any more. The waiter ignored two requests for water. A manager was called over about the sandwich and he just offered another meal and said the picture was just a meal suggestion and not how the sandwich really came. The reviewers who called this place mediocre are insulting mediocrity, or perhaps the breakfast fare they sampled is far less distasteful than the swill offered as lunch items. We stopped by yesterday after driving four hours from Maryland. We were hoping for something tasty, but what we encountered was closer to tasteless. The matzah ball soup my wife sampled was truly tasteless, as in lacking all flavor. It was the warm-up for an open-face turkey sandwich featuring acceptable turkey, bathed in library paste gravy and badly made instant mashed potatoes. We cannot review the mixed vegetables as, once we recognized their canned origins, they weren't sampled. I wish I could say the whole issue was a lack of seasoning, but liberal applications of salt and pepper were unable to resurrect the soup or the gravy from it's bland grave. This whole mess was a bargain at $14.00. I find myself unable to mock my wife's meal choice, however, as I foolishly ordered the calamari, which appeared normal but had obviously been manufactured by Goodyear. No amount of chewing could reduce these little rings into smaller components. By and large they required swallowing whole, which was a herculean task, considering it came without sauce of any kind. Overall, I would have to say the chewing made my jaw hurt, but no pain, no gain. I no longer fear cheap cuts of meat with my new jaw muscles. I would like the fries that accompanied the rubber squid to have been fried a bit longer, but soft as they were, they were the most successful item delivered to our table. The calamari and fries were also $15.00. We came to NY with high hopes and were beaten down by a place that looked good and had many other diners... Can it be that we, alone were disappointed? Don't Sit Outside You'll Be Forgotten We came here for breakfast the day we were leaving and had our luggage, due to the small diner we couldn't really fit inside so we decided to eat outside well we were sitting there for close to 15 minutes before we went in to find our waiter. Deplorable. My wife and daughter were waiting for me to park the car. They ordered hot chocolates and waited for me. They were told by the manager that they had to order, so they did when the waitress came back. Then the manager came back and told them they had to leave since they didn't order yet. My wife said they did order, and he should check with the kitchen about the status of the food. I arrived as my wife was finishing arguing with the manager. He Was Very Rude. We all decided to leave at that point. The total time they were seated was about 10 mins. Very rude manager. We will never go there again. The place wasn't even full. He was basically harassing them for no reason. You would think that after 33 years (the mngr claimed) of being there, they should know how to treat their guests. We enjoyed our brunch at Applejack. It was recommended by the hotel we were staying at (10% discount!). It was busy, which is a good thing and the tables are a little cramped. I had a waffle with bacon here this morning. It was barely warm, and by the time I'd had a few bites it was room temperature. Bland and cold. Instead of offering to make me another one, the waiter offered to have it warmed up. When it came back from the microwave (thanks a lot) it had sausage with it instead of the original bacon. A patron near me joked that he wondered what I'd get if I sent it back for the third attempt. I mentioned that it was impossible to make a fresh waffle in a waffle iron and have it not be hot...it had to have been sitting around for a while. The waiter apologized but offered no explanation, and there was no move toward adjusting the bill. I won't go back here.
