I made a reservation for a party of six, and even though we arrived a little early, the staff was incredibly accommodating and seated us right away without a problem. Outstanding Service We had an absolutely delightful server! They were incredibly knowledgeable, patiently answering all of our questions about menu favorites, and provided top-notch customer service from start to finish. It really made the whole experience that much better. Delicious, Authentic Food The kitchen serves up delicious, authentic, and very well-portioned dishes. Pleasantly surprised by the food here especially being a diner. But I've come to learn that diners in NYC have some of the best food - even gourmet standards. Went here after a comedy show so it was past 8:30 and the place was only partly full which was great as we were seated immediately. We had some fun with the mirrors there - got some fun photos sitting next to them looking at ourselves. I ordered the pollo cubano and it was amazing! First of all it came with this very gourmet presentation with the chicken stacked over the Spanish rice topped with the caramelized onions and pico de gallo and a side of lemon - I was very impressed! And it was quite delicious- the textures and depth of flavors in each bite - mmm mmm mmmm. I was hungry too and I ate the whole thing! Very satisfying. The line was shorter than other places nearby so we gave this place a try before our show. They seemed understaffed and the staff did not seem well trained. Buns for customers were stored in a tomato box, and then used for a customer's sandwich. The same staff switched from sweeping to line cook without changing gloves too. Half and half served in a chilled metal carafe showed attention to detail. My husband had the Nutella donut that literally had about 1/2 a cup of Nutella in it. Only giving this place a 1 because our waiter was very kind and quick with getting our order. The food was not even hot it was barley warm, we got the pancakes which was about $15 for one pancake, which already seemed steep already for just one pancake but we decided to give it a try because it must be good right? No, the pancakes were stale, hard, and barely warm. Obviously eating in Times Square comes at a cost but we assumed for the prices this place would be at least somewhat decent, we ended up spending $60 on three pancakes and water. Brooklyn Diner is between 3 and 4 Stars for me. I was telling a Yelp friend about the Huge piece of Key Lime Pie I had here and I unknowingly had an allergic reaction. So after I moved here I came for the huge pieces of pie and just made it a meal! I feel like service would have been better. They have an inviting atmosphere, a friendly and attentive staff, and a menu where anyone can find something. And on top of that, they have late hours. This find was a splendid surprise. My friends and I were seeing a show in the theater across the street, and had some time before. We saw this diner and stopped in.
