I visited Brooklyn Diner hoping for a great experience, especially since it came recommended through a cashback app. Unfortunately, my visit was mixed. When I arrived, my server was chatting at the bar talking about cocktails and didn't notice me for a while. She apologized once she realized, which I appreciated, but the service continued to feel inattentive. I ordered a three‑cheese omelette and specifically mentioned that I don't eat bacon or sausage. When the dish arrived, it had bacon on top. I'm not someone who sends food back unless absolutely necessary, but in this case I had to. The server seemed frustrated and implied that all omelettes come with bacon, which made the interaction uncomfortable. I also asked about the toast, since it didn't look like the challah bread I'm used to. Instead of explaining, the server discussed my question with a colleague within earshot, which felt unprofessional and a bit embarrassing. The bright spot of the visit was another staff member -- a woman with blond hair -- who approached me, apologized sincerely, and offered pastries to make things right. Her kindness really stood out and is the reason I'm giving this review a fair rating instead of a negative one. Overall, the food was fine once corrected, and the restaurant has potential, but the service experience was disappointing. I hope this was just an off day, because the staff member who stepped in showed what good hospitality can look like.

If you're looking for a great breakfast spot in the Theater District, this is it! It's a quaint, vintage throwback diner with a really cool aesthetic. The staff is super friendly, and the service is both quick and accurate. Definitely recommend grabbing an omelet with potatoes and a NY bagel!

It is the epitome of a flashy diner with nothing really to show for except looking like a diner. Ordered: Two eggs any style with potatoes, bacon and bread on the side. ($21) 3/5 Even if the plate was the size of starter plate I'd still have a gripe about the proportions here. For $21 dollars I was shocked by the amount of food that was not on my plate. And the meal was mediocre at best. You always hope for the best at these places but sometimes it is going to be exactly what you think it is. Chocolate Milk: 2/5 - Gobsmackingly sweet. If a parent gave this to their child they'd be boucning off the walls all day, or worse, they might actually think its also too sweet. Service: 5/5 - It was commendable. We went on Christmas Eve. Despite their continuous rush they seemed to be flipping tables quickly so we were able to be seated wo a resvervation no problem. Our meal also came very fast which is always appreciated. Breakfast isn't really my thing any way

The food was pretty disappointing. The waffles were hard and tough to chew through. The pigs in a blanket and turkey in the turkey club sandwich was dry. The smoked salmon and omelette were okay. Seated quickly around noon on a Saturday.

I've never spent much time in Time Square the entire time I lived here, but now I am exploring the city like a tourist. We tried this place out after traveling all day and this place did not disappoint, but will warn you the prices are high. You're in Time Square, it's gonna cost you. I ordered their signature chicken noodle soup and my mom had the cheeseburger and fries. Both dishes executed perfectly. I loved the chicken noodle soup and the fresh veggies and shredded chicken was all very fresh and flavorful. The challah toast was dry though. I'd consider coming back here if needing a solid meal in a casual location. Lots of good people watching too!

A night in NYC always calls for a stop at the Brooklyn Diner, one of my longtime favorites from when I lived in the Northeast. I'm so glad I went back because it didn't disappoint. My server, Gabriela M., was amazing and friendly. I followed her recommendations and went with the shrimp tacos, and they absolutely satisfied my palate; fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The side of guacamole was a little taste of heaven. Great dining experience as expected

Pleasantly surprised by the food here especially being a diner. But I've come to learn that diners in NYC have some of the best food - even gourmet standards. Went here after a comedy show so it was past 8:30 and the place was only partly full which was great as we were seated immediately. We had some fun with the mirrors there - got some fun photos sitting next to them looking at ourselves. I ordered the pollo cubano and it was amazing! First of all it came with this very gourmet presentation with the chicken stacked over the Spanish rice topped with the caramelized onions and pico de gallo and a side of lemon - I was very impressed! And it was quite delicious- the textures and depth of flavors in each bite - mmm mmm mmmm. I was hungry too and I ate the whole thing! Very satisfying. The hubs ordered their famous hot dog the 15-bite frankfurter which is huge and comes with sauerkraut and side of fries. He enjoyed and it and it was filling too. We were both very satisfied! Service was friendly and efficient. Overall great experience!

The line was shorter than other places nearby so we gave this place a try before our show. They seemed understaffed and the staff did not seem well trained. Buns for customers were stored in a tomato box, and then used for a customer's sandwich. The same staff switched from sweeping to line cook without changing gloves too. The food was alright, and I had no complaints.

We stopped by on a whim and were quickly seated. I sent my first drink back it was too strong. My second drink was good and the chicken and waffle was decent. Our server was very busy but the place didn't seem that busy. I guess stop by and check them out and let me know your thoughts....I guess I wasn't too overly impressed!

First meal after landing in New York and we needed a place to go that had a restroom. This restaurant is clean and very cozy. It has a diner feel to it. Service wasn't great but our food made it. Ordered the hot pastrami and oddly enough it does not come with fries so I added a basket. The pastrami on its own was great. It melted in your mouth and was delicious. It was stuffed between two pieces of bread with no condiments. Fries were hot and delicious. The rest of the food was okay. Convenient location being in Times Square.

As we had our cocktails we discussed going somewhere else as the vibe was flat. But my husband convinced me to stay as it's already 8:30. We head upstairs to our table, only to be greeted by another less enthusiastic server. He never told us his name or offered up any menu highlights. I was excited to have bone marrow and escargot. Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

The food, for me, is a bit more mixed. There are a few standout touches I really enjoy, especially the butter service and the bagel service, which always feel fun and well done. The French onion soup was memorable the first time I had it, though I've since had an even better version elsewhere that raised the bar for me. Some dishes land better than others. The Caesar salad is fine but not particularly memorable, the pasta dishes are generally okay, and I didn't love the artichoke dish, which felt a bit tough and underwhelming. The mac and cheese also didn't quite hit for me and felt a bit heavy without much payoff. That said, I can absolutely see the appeal of this restaurant--especially the experience, the atmosphere, and the service. My friend particularly loves the fries, which seem to be a consistent favorite.
