I had this company come out for 2 appliances: my range and my dryer. service techs are very nice but neither one of these appliances have been fixed. Someone came out for the range 4 times within a year and it is still not fixed. I just deal with the issue myself when it occurs. For the dryer, it took 2 weeks for someone to come out cost me about $530 and it's still not fixed. read more

The customer service with this company is absolutely horrible. There is no follow up on the staff for parts order. You can to get information and they tell you to call back next week. They use 3rd party companies to source parts and have no idea when those orders fall through. They are not able to provide any information to you as the customer regarding part numbers or serial numbers. What company cant give you an item number for a part the they are trying to order. If you cant give the customer a part number because your system doesn't show it, how do you give a third supplier an item number. 6 months we have been waiting on 2 parts. 6 MONTHS WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE OUR RANGE. 6 Months of calling for updates. Waiting on back ordered parts that "never" come in. 6 months of call back next week. The BBB should put this company out of business. I DO NOT suggest anyone call this company or use them for repairs EVER!!! read more

I requested a service visit for an issue with my Bosch oven. It said "error code E30" on the display. Summary: they quoted me $1700 to replace all the electronics while Bosch technicians fixed it merely by doing a factory reset ($215). They still had the audacity to charge me $180 for the initial service visit! Details: I called the appliance genius and set up an appointment to come out and look. I told them over the phone what the error message on the oven was. They were prompt and courteous when arriving and tolerant of my glitchy smart lock. (I wasn't there at the time.) The technician looked at the error code, looked at a Bosch service guide or similar, and the error code wasn't in there. He told me he didn't know how to fix it and would have to file a service ticket with Bosch to find out what to do. Side question: why didn't they look up the error code in the service manual before coming to my house and filing a support ticket before even coming? That probably would have saved some time. A few days later I hear back from the technician. He has heard back from Bosch: they don't know what the error code is either ! (Baffling) He concludes the electronics got messed up and so it's faking an error message. (I was skeptical since shorted electronics rarely produce English messages with integer error codes. ) he says he'll write up a quote for replacing all the electronics. A few more days later i get a quote for about $1700. In the meantime I called the Bosch service agency and had their technician check it out. He got it fully working in one visit for $215. He noted in the repair note something along the lines of "got an unknown error. Tried a factory reset. The error went away and everything worked." This sort of sounds like the appliance equivalent of restarting your computer -- and it worked. Maybe Appliance Genius was nervous that doing a reset would cause it to light on fire or something ? Either that or their technicians don't think to try basic things when encountering new, unknown circumstances. Anyway, overall a mediocre experience. Would not recommend. read more

Apparently we bought some lemon appliances when we remodeled our kitchen. We have had to have work done, covered by the warranty, on the dishwasher and refrigerator more than once. I have had several repairs by this company, with different technicians. Jonathan came out twice and then he became my technician going forward. I have dogs and he was great with them, especially since he had to get on the floor to fix the freezer! He has been great at troubleshooting and giving me advice on next steps. He calls me when he is on his way or when he is late so I can reschedule if I wish. He is very considerate. Today, I had another contractor at the house when he showed up and I said "freezer again" and he knew exactly what to do and walked in! I like that Jonathan has been assigned to me. So, I called "appliance genius" in Houston area for a Maytag washer bought in 2021 where the panel buttons are not working. I have had them in the past and the trip/initial diagnostic fee was included in any future repairs. When I called them, they indicated that on the phone. The initial diagnostic fee is $129. The technician got there in time, unscrewed the panel. 5 mins into the service, he asked if he could use my restroom. I said "unfortunately that is not something I can provide as I have a diabetic mother and can't let strangers use my restroom". I advised him that he can go to near by gas station if it is really that urgent. Then he said "it was fine and that he didn't need to go right away." Then he tried to un-stick the area in the electric panel- that was causing the panel not to work but that was unsuccessful. Then said a part of panel needed to be replaced. Subsequently, he left after taking payment of $129 without any info- on what kind of part, how much it costs etc. He said service fee was not included in future repairs. He said I would hear from the company in 2 days as to what the part cost and labor would be. Additionally said warranty will only be for 90 days if they do repair- that is short given most companies give it for 1 year. Very dissatisfied with service. Especially asking to use restroom as soon he got there- not sure if he was really focused on the diagnostics of the washer repair when "he had the urge to go." Not worth the $129. Appliance genius after multiple sent an estimate of $550 after 3 days of calling. So the parts cost around $130, however the labor is $350. So total cost of repair would have been $684 (see attached). That is the price of a new washer in market! Not sure who is getting repair done from such an expensive company with such poor service. read more

Needed to have my Bosch double oven checked because it wasn't heating up to above 250 degrees. We live a little outside Austin, so the went from $165 trip/diagnosis fee to $395. When the technician arrived, he didn't have a dolly to be able to remove the double oven to identify the issue, so when we got the quote to fix the oven, it had parts for anything he thought might have been wrong with the oven. When I questioned the invoice and whether we would still be responsible for the parts that it didn't need, nobody ever answered. Thoroughly disappointed with the service. Why did I pay $395 for someone to come out and guess what the problem might be; that could have been done over the phone since they didn't have the equipment to actually do a diagnosis. This company was recommended by the retailer that sold us the stove since they don't fix what they sell: I won't be doing business with either of them again. read more

I'm sad to say our experience was not good in DFW area. Was recommended to use Appliance Genius by Bosch, as our dishwasher was less than 1 year old and under warranty. 1st tech with Appliance Genius came out quickly, but needed to order a part to replace drain pump. Dishwasher fixed and failed within a week. 2nd tech came out to diagnose issue and now said our drain tube was pinched and our dishwasher would have to be pulled forward as there wasn't enough room for drain tube or we would have to drill a new hole. Didn't have the tube on hand, had to again wait for part to be ordered. Part was lost in shipping and had to wait for re-order. 3rd tech came out to install and dishwasher failed again within 48 hours. (I told him not to pinch the tube.) The 2nd tech returned to diagnose and again the drain tube was pinched. Had to order the part again. After 3 MONTHS of this back and forth and long wait times for parts, I decided to use a local handyman. Found part on Amazon with 2 day delivery. Dishwasher tube re-routed and working within 4 days. read more

We've had a pretty terrible experience with Appliance Genius. We had a broken Thermador dishwasher and they came out 7 weeks ago and unfortunately we still have a broken dishwasher. They are slow to come out (no availability until the next week), expensive, and apparently incapable of fixing our dishwasher. They charged a $129 diagnosis fee to come out (is NOT applied to cost of fixing appliance if you choose to work with them). They diagnosed and ordered parts. (Btw, they do not call you as soon as the part arrives, but instead they only make calls on certain days of the week, or you have to keep calling back to check on status.) The shipping of parts takes 7-10 days. When the technician finally came back, the part that took so long to receive was defective. So they ordered the part again. Another 7-10 days. The next guy said it was fixed and left. However it was not fixed. When I called back about it, they said they'll come out, but if the issue is not related to what they just fixed, then it will be another $129 diagnosis fee. Why do I have to pay this again? We haven't used the dishwasher a single time in 7 weeks. I already paid to get it diagnosed, they should continue fixing it until the problem is resolved. I do not know what is wrong with my dishwasher. That is why I called the professionals. If they don't know what's wrong either and have to keep coming back to fix it, they should not charge multiple diagnosis fees for that. If they keep charging $129 every time, then they are incentivized to diagnosis incorrectly. I think this is unethical and a bad practice. I do not like working with this company at all and would not recommend them. I would look elsewhere. read more

We have a Dacor double oven that needed new hinges and lights. Unfortunately the original estimate was more than we were willing to invest in an older appliance. However, the manager worked with us in finding suitable parts and trying a different route of repair. The "fix" was perfect, and we even got a refund on lights that were not necessary! We really appreciate the fact that these technicians had the knowledge to find a solution for us and took the time to make sure everything worked properly before they left. Communications were excellent, and the refund was handled quickly. I highly recommend Appliance Genius for repairs.
