Travis was out by 12:00 and after listening to the problem I was having he diagnosed the issue & my part was on order by 12:30 Travis returned this afternoon with the part, installed it & tested my washer within the hour. We have used them for several appliance issues. Their work is fast and their prices are reasonable. If you call early they might schedule you for the some day. We only had one issue last time where no one showed up at the time scheduled, but were able to do it the next day. read more

We had a problem with an electric cooktop range, that kept overheating. Two other electricians told us the range would have to be replaced, at a ridiculous price. John James came in, correctly diagnose the problem, repaired the range, and it cost a fraction of replacement. John is honest, efficient, reasonably priced, and he knows what he's doing. I called John James because we were having an issue with our refrigerator water filter housing. Scheduling with his office was very easy and professional. John came out the same day and when he figured out the parts needed, they were ordered and picked up within 30 minutes (we live close to the parts warehouse). The repair was completed that day and he installed the new filter too and even ran the necessary gallons of water to clear the lines. He was great. Very honest and efficient. We have used John James Appliance Service on two occasions. Once in June of 2019 (for our dryer) and a second time in Aug 2019 (for our washer). Both times, the phone representative was very professional and courteous. Also, both times, Travis (technician) was on time and had the correct parts for service in his truck. Prices are reasonable and significantly less expensive than buying a new appliance. Both times I called before 9AM and was able to get service the same day. We were very pleased with the service. Initial call was made on Thursday morning. I asked for a late afternoon appt. and we received one. John came out and quoted us to repair the high pitched squeal on the dryer, the ice maker on the fridge and the cooling problem with the fridge. After approval, he ordered the parts. He came back about 7pm on Friday and was there for about 2.5 hours making the repairs. Saturday morning we still didn't have ice in the machine so i called him back and he came out late Saturday afternoon. He switched out another part at no additional charge. Later that evening, we had ice! Everything is working fine and we will definitely use this company again. The woman handling the calls was very responsive as well. read more

The lack of service I've received from John James Appliance went steadily down hill from initial call in June '16 and ended up being grossly negligent. We were having a problem with the ice maker on our refrigerator/freezer. Initial response was excellent -- they could look at the unit within a day or two (visit #1). Technician came and said he'd need to order a new ice maker, then come back to install it. We paid ~$150.00 for initial visit. Said it would take a week to ten days. After more than two weeks, I called for an update. Another week passed before the ice maker came in and come back to replace the broken ice makers. Wrong part -- didn't fit (visit #2). Also, after second visit the motherboard that programs the water and ice dispenser was fried. Tech had broken it on second visit. Ordered another model new ice maker and a new motherboard, which he said we did not have to pay for. Both parts came in weeks later, tech came to install. Finally, after the summer without ice, ice maker was making ice and motherboard panel was working again. Paid ~$350.00 HOWEVER, determined a day later that new ice maker was making ice but not DISPENSING ice. Called the company, tech came by again to look at it. Determined the new "bucket" was too large to dispense ice. Went through two additional visits to try to replace the "bucket" and he could not. Company has since stopped returning my calls -- completely unacceptable. I paid in full for a product and service that was not completed in full. For a few hundred dollars more I could have bought a new refrigerator freezer! I am filing with the Better Business Bureau and am considering Harris County small claims court. (I left the company a voicemail telling them I'd be taking these steps and offered them once last chance to rectify this situation... no response. I suspect they'll regret that.) read more

Very nice man, immediately evaluated and quickly fixed the issue, and then checked out the machine to make sure everything else was working fine. I called asking for a price to replace the oven igniter on my 24 year old stove so that I could make a determination if it was worth repairing or would I be better replacing. The girl who handled my call was very nice and professional. I gave here the stove model number and even the part number for the igniter. I talked to her a couple of hours later and was told it would be $200.00. After replacing it John proceeds to tell me that the bill comes to $279.00!! When I voiced my displeasure he tells me that his quote was based on a cheaper igniter that ended up not being the exact one. I reminded him that I gave him the model number and the correct part number which is all he needed to give me an accurate quote and reminded him about my discussion earlier with him about whether I should replace or not. Like I told him, his bill is over 50% of the cost to buy the same type brand new! He grudgingly took a measly $20.00 off the bill. Not again! read more
