Of course, an order of Pad Thai, 2 orders since I have 5 hungry people to feed. Also, I ordered the Thai coconut soup, I think it's called Tom Kha with chicken. One more noodles dish was the Drunken Noodles, it's kinda like Chinese Chow Fun, but has a more spicy flavor and basil in it. The food was all pack and bagged for me to take back to the hotel. We used my room since I have a bigger room. We had plates and set ups for all five of us and we re-plated the food on the serving plates that came with the room. All the food was really tasty and everybody was happy not to have to leave the hotel. I heard compliments on the Pad Thai and the Coconut soup. It was a good idea just to do take out and eat at the hotel here.

I like what I like and tend to go for the same items as they are one of the place that makes it the way I prefer. And why is it some Thai places don't offer their classic dish, the boat noodles. I've been to a few and they don't offer it while some places, it's not that good. Here, it's alway consistent and very flavorful. That a must for me and alway ordered. We also love the papaya salad which you can have Thai style or Laos style. Depending on what your preference is. Their larb is great as well. Very flavorful and tasty. Of course our main items we tend to get here, the boat noodles which I love as it's flavorful, broth is perfect and all the extras added. Also all their curries are excellent. Lately we've been getting their massaman curries which the flavors is really nice. Whatever protein you like. The curries do come with a side of rice but an extra order is alway needed. Love it to have with the papaya salad and larb. All their dishes are great and very flavorful. Spice level varies on what you like but I tend to go with medium and add all the extra spices for myself with their sauce selection. We tend to alway be full even before being asked if we wanted dessert. The food is always amazing and the staff are always friendly and sweet. There's two restaurants that's a door apart and both are great but this one takes the cake for me. It's always a must when I'm in town as I know the food will alway be delicious. Highly recommended. The Taste: AMAZING The Service: extremely friendly, informative service The Place: clean, cozy, good environment ------------ My mother always told me that it's not what you're eating that truly matters, it's how it was prepared. When I was a child, she was able to convince me to eat my broccoli because apparently it was made with careful thought , making that broccoli the best in the world. What does this have to do with Appu's cafe? Well it's very clear that all the food is prepared with immense care, with adequate thought about taste and presentation, and with just the write amount of love to make the food unparalleled. I was lucky enough to visit Appu's cafe JUST before rush hour at noon. This meant that I had the unique privilege of interacting with VR the store's owner. Unsure of what to order, I asked VR what his recommendations were. I believe his exact words to me were "I think you'll enjoy the Maharaja Burrito, a burrito fit for a queen!" Apparently maharaja, is the term for Indian royalty. I was very curious about what exactly made this burrito unique, so I intently watched its preparation. VR added this spice and that, and did so with such finesse, all while holding a conversation with me about the cafe's mission. Apparently, Appu's cafe aims to make food that is delicious and healthy. There are no butters, no oils, and most importantly, there is no meat. As a vegetarian, this really appealed to me. But I was curious as to whether he was able to make food that satisfied the meat-lover's appetite. This question was answered by another customer enjoying his food. Apparently, he eats lunch there just about every week day and is now a weekday vegetarian! He loves the food THAT much! Once I got my Maharaja burrito handed to me, less that 5 minutes after ordering, I took my first bite. It was different from any burrito I had ever tasted--an interesting fusion of Indian spices and cooked vegetables, all in the guise of a traditional Mexican burrito! And not to mention, it was absolutely delicious! This place is a gem. The food is to die for. It deserves your support, and I guarantee you, your tummy will thank you! read more

The owner, who introduces himself to customers as they walk in, is very knowledgeable and helpful in suggesting options. Sheer serendipity brought us to Appu's. We were leery of eating at a hole-in-the-wall cafe at, of all places, a doctor's office building. And now I am writing this 5-star review. It was a pleasure conversing with the owner VR. His love and passion for feeding his customers wholesome and healthy food was what touched us the most. The Pav Bhaji and Samosa Chat that we ate were outstanding. But the conversation with VR on how he saved his life by learning to eat right was the high point of our visit. Albeit a small menu, VR is very creative indeed. No matter what you order, you can rest assured that you've had the tastiest meal possible for the least number of calories. I was extremely impressed with this wonderful cafe and it's unique and healthy concept. After my doctors appointment I went to try out the restaurant. I was greeted with a warm welcome and introduced to the passion of the chef and his dedication to great health. I ordered the masala omelet and fell in love with the sandwich! It was delicious and the health benefits and how it was created was out of this world. Full of flavor and goodness I am now a fan of Appu's and shall be eating their every chance I get! The place is hidden behind a building (hole-in-the wall place) and I had some trouble locating it. The lady doing the customer service and cooking is very friendly and helpful. I tried the Rice bowls with different type of soups and it tasted good. Not very authentic, but good. It was not very expensive either. Tried the lemongrass chai too, which was great. They serve only vegetarian (including eggs). It was not crowded at all, I did go around 2 PM. Very Impressed and will definitely be returning back, and trying the other items on the menu like the Maharaja Burrito. read more

I've eaten Indian food all over India and California, but I can't say I have eaten any better than Appu's Cafe. It's amazing how VR can cook with minimal or no oil and still have his food so flavorful and delicious. The fact that everything is low in fat and not overly salty makes it all the better, especially since flavor is never compromised. I eat it every week and not only is it always delicious, it is also very healthy. Appu's Cafe is a real find, and soo delicious! read more

As a vegetarian for over 30 years (I am 64) I have eaten at many places around the country and even in China. VR the owner takes an interest in your particular taste and their food is absolutely delicious. It is hard to find, but I go to Bixby Pharmacy in the Woodruff Medical Building and it is in the back. Every time I need a script filled which is often at my age, I get something for lunch and a take out for dinner. It is great and VR is the best! read more

Kamal Palace has a lunch buffet from 11AM - 2:30PM every day and what we came to lunch for. The buffet is in view right when you walk in. We were sat and told to help ourselves when we were ready. I love Indian cuisine as there are several vegitarian options helping me get much needed veggies in. The meats were good too, Tandori chicken was a little dry due to being left out but expected in a buffet style setting, still flavorful though. The butter chicken had a nice sweetness to it and was rich and creamy. My favorite was the goat curry, warm spices, savory gravy along with some veggie basmati rice. Definitely can't forget the dessert Galub Jamun is so addicting and easy to eat, soaked in the syrup. The rice pudding was so good too, I could eat so much of it, though it was rice it was very light. Forgot to mention the section of sauces as well near the end, the cilantro chutney + yogurt was so refreshing to add/dip in. Oh you also get complimentary naan too! Overall a great buffet for lunch to try a variety of things. Give it a try!

I ordered the infinite burrito. I was blown away at how delicious it was. The burrito had a great mix of sweet, salty and citrusy flavours. I found it filling and did not miss having meat with my dinner at all. It had the best elements of a Mexican burrito with an interior flavour reminiscent of Southeast Asia. I appreciate that this restaurant has great service, reasonable prices, and a great product. Even my carnivore self will be eating here again!
