We tried this place because it was close and near-by and it did not disappoint. We ordered to-go and it was great, we ordered lemon chicken and orange chicken. They had specials which came with a soup and an egg roll. I loved that the food was in plastic containers which kept it warm for the ride home. Each day, I try my intestinal fortitude. Today, it failed. I went to April's Chinese restaurant largely based on its name, but also on the recommendation of a friend; a quick perusal of Yelp reviews and I headed out the door with an empty stomach and a hope for satisfaction. Yes, the food was cheap. Yes, the place is a hole in the wall. Now, I've eaten at many a place that satisfies both of those criteria and come out a winner, but I can tell you that April's is run-of-the-mill and not worth the two bathroom visits I made within the hour after returning to work. I had the Kung Pao Chicken lunch meal. The sauce was flavorful and the portions were abundant, but the blandness of the rice couldn't be compensated for without pouring it into a bowl of soy sauce and eating it like cereal. The rangoon was overwhelmingly stuffed with cream cheese and was a bit under-cooked. And it was surprising how tasteless the wonton dumpling was for being soaked in such a tasty broth (the only part of this traditional soup that April seemed to get right). I wouldn't tell you not to go there. The place seemed crowded enough for a post-rush 1:00 p.m. lunch, so people obviously get down to it. But if you're not into dodgy, hit-or-miss lunch traps, my advice is to spare your colon and go for the miss. read more

Went there for a lunch and it was disgusting. Had the sweet and sour chicken. Chicken was extremely dry the egg roll was your typical soggy greasy thing. Driving through and wanted something quick that was near our hotel. Their prices are amazing with great size portions. We fed 4 of us for $25. The service was amazing! Everyone was very polite and the food came out super quick. Refills were always available as well. The food itself was okay. I had the hot and sour soup (the crunchy wontons were a bit stale), Mongolian beef (ask for extra spicy-mine wasn't spicy at all), and a crab wonton. It was good but the veggies tasted a bit sour. Good came out fast. The portions for the lunch special was more than expected. I rate it a 3 because it lacks in flavor. The kung pao shrimp wasn't as spicy as I expected, and it had a heavy soy sauce taste. The sweet and sour shrimp I enjoyed, even with the excessive batter coating the shrimp. We had to wave them down to get their attention again to place our food order which didn't come out. We waited and waited. Finally the server came to us asking us to repeat our order to him. Ordered General Tso chicken and beef and broccoli, both with an egg roll, egg drop soup and fried rice. The egg rolls were good and the egg drop soup was just your ordinary egg drop soup. I'm not sure if the cook accidentally left out a couple of seasonings in the general chicken because it had no flavor what so ever. I love April's! I've recently ordered delivery from them and gone through the drive through. Both were very fast experiences with fresh and delicious food! The price is also extremely reasonable. I've had their Mongolian beef, the beef with broccoli, and a bite of the lemon chicken, all tasted great! The egg rolls and crab rangoons are awesome too!
