I was recommended by a friend to check out this shop regarding my Subaru Outback services. This shop typically runs off appointments so I called and was able to get an appointment for a few days later. I needed to get my CVT fluid flushed & I was about 50K miles behind. For this service, another shop quoted me $350 and the dealership was about $900, this shop charged me $220. It only took about an hour. Because I was so late on this service, the mechanic informed me of potential issues I could run into. I've put over 300 miles on my car since the service and have no issues. Negative experience. I called about a week in advance and scheduled an appointment with Abraham for 10/01/25 at 9 AM because my car was having issues. When I arrived at 9 AM, I was told Abraham wouldn't even be in until 11 AM. This made no sense since he was the one who told me to bring my car in at 9. I left my car anyway and returned around 12:30 PM to check on progress. When I finally spoke to Abraham, his response was simply, "It's an all day thing." I understand that repairs can take time, but if I had an appointment at 9 AM, I expected at least an estimate of when my car would actually be looked at. Instead of providing clarity, he repeated "it's an all-day thing" and then very rudely told me that if I didn't like it, I could take my car as is. At that point I decided to take my car back. I don't feel comfortable giving my money to someone who sets appointments they don't honor and then treats customers with that level of disrespect. Unprofessional, rude, and poor communication. So this is my second time doing business with AQ Motorsports and so far I've been happy with all the work they have done on my 2020 crosstrek. The first time I came in for a regular inspection and an oil change but I hit it off with Abraham talking about all the Subarus they work on and got a tour of the inside of the shop my first time around. Today I came in for a brake job and although I didn't take any pics I can say I am happy with the work. They did the job for a reasonable price after asking around and considering how much the Subaru dealership would probably charge. Also like the fact that Abraham and his crew recommend what needs to be done but don't impose on you any work that can be done at a later time if it's not critical. Came here a couple of times for my STI, seemed like a pretty good spot to come to get work done until I went for a clutch and flywheel replacement. When I got my car back my a/c stopped blowing cold air, my hood hydraulic strut stopped working, and airbags for the side light came on OUT of no where.. to my instincts I believe they replaced my working parts with non working ones which is beyond wild to me. Luckily for him I didnt have solid proof before the repair so everyone should be ready for this type of stuff when you go these places. Was my 1st time going with AQ after a friend gave me the recommendation for a turbo install and turbo inlet.The service from the start was excellent felt well taken care of as soon as they picked the phone up.AQ found some other issues on my car like a oil leak and coolant leak which they quickly took care of this made me know AQ is the real deal.When I was leaving I noticed my car had a check engine for 02 sensors and MAF they had no issues lifting my car up again and looking throught it, but after talking with them and making sure everything was correctly installed I realized it has to do with my base-map tune since I had recently flashed another tune before they did the turbo install.Overall AQ gave me the best price around and made me feel welcome I recommend this place for your not so stock Subarus as well as stock this is the real deal thank you Abraham for giving me some subie knowledge dude knows his stuff.!! read more

Update... after noticing that the clutch has been slipping after the engine build, I took it to Adan to see what was wrong with it. He test drive the car and turned out the clutch was bad... he knew I was in a bind with cash and he wanted to help me, so he was able to use some parts scattered around the shop to use until I can get the appropriate parts I needed (don't use competition clutch - Garbage) he honor the work for me so I can enjoyment my newly built AQ engine. One true stop for Subie car owners. Some of you might wonder why to bother stopping by a shop when you can DIY, especially as a Subie owner, one is supposed to be a car enthusiast and "handyman." The short answer is: do not risk it! Here are my stories with AQ: 1. I took my 2014 Sti Hatchback to AQ to put back into stock. They did a great job from the initial point of contact and giving a detailed price quote to having the work done. The only complaint here was that they didn't start working on my car until approximately 1-1.5 hours past my scheduled time, and this is totally reasonable as the car in front of me was having some serious issues with leaking. 2. A week later, I took my car back into the shop due to a wiggling sound in the vehicle. I thought it was a fallen nut or something, and I could hear it with sudden acceleration or stopping. We spent about 20 minutes to test drive and identify the noises. They then spent an hour to fix the issue. (Jack up the car, check the brake, took off the side skirt, etc.) Ended up, it was an extra nut holding the caliber/pad that has been somehow sitting in the side skirt, which my buddy and I were responsible for as we installed the pads/disc ourselves. It is an example of why sometimes, you have to wait past your scheduled time. AQ motorsports take good care of their customer, and they won't let you down! If you have a Subaru, you just found your new shop. Adan and Abrahan are fantastic. Honest, patient, and knowledgeable- no funny business here! I have a 2006 Legacy GT wagon that I have been driving since new. The original head gaskets started to fail (not a bad run for 175k!) I spoke with several mechanics who suggested a complete motor swap. Others gave me quotes upwards of $4600 just to rebuild the top end (including 'mandatory' machining of the heads and doing the timing belt service), but I didn't want to pull the trigger on the top end with the condition of the block undetermined. Then I stumbled across AQ. On our first call, Abrahan stayed on the phone with me for nearly an hour, explaining every option in great detail. He was the first person to suggest that the heads might not need to get decked, and said they would do a pressure/leak down test on the block to determine its health before deciding what route to take on the build. I knew these were my guys, so I set an appointment and had my car towed in a few weeks later. The leak down test showed great results, and it turned out my heads were dead straight as well. (It pays to change your oil regularly people!) In the end, Adan resurfaced the heads by hand (which no one wants to do), replaced every worn gasket, seal and hose, swapped the timing belt/water pump, replaced the motor mounts, and serviced the turbo. All this (and peace of mind) for half the price I was quoted from other shops. I cannot recommend AQ highly enough. Thank you Abrahan and Adan!! read more

It is really difficult to find new and trustworthy mechanics that I feel comfortable enough to let them work on my Subaru.  For the last 10 years I have left all maintenance and upgrades on my vehicle to a close friend of mine but recently he has changed career paths and is no longer an option for me.  Having been to many Subaru Car Meets around the Southern California area and doing research on the Subaru forums I came to the conclusion that Adan at AQ Motorsports was the most reliable mechanic that I would trust with my car.  My Subaru WRX STI was running with a stock clutch with 85,000 miles on the odometer which would have been fine but with my recent upgrades bringing power levels to 400+WHP the clutch really needed to be replaced.   Since it was my first time doing business with Adan I contacted him via telephone and asked him a few questions as far as pricing and timeframe I was looking at for the clutch job.  Adan was very informative and his pricing was really competitive compared to all the other Subaru car shops within a 40 mile radius.   I decided to drop by and make an appointment for my clutch job and ended up dropping my car off the same day since he had an opening the day after.  The next day Adan contacted me later in the afternoon letting me know the clutch job was taking a little longer than usual with the extensive amount of aftermarket parts I had installed over the years.  What was supposed to be a 3.5 hour job, turned into a 5+ hour job.  He informed me that when he was doing the clutch job he saw a small leak in the lower radiator and that I might need a new radiator.  A couple weeks before I brought the car in to Adan I had already noticed the leak but for the life of me I could not find where it was so eventually I gave up looking for it since it just seemed to disappear.  Luckily Adan was able to save my Koyo Radiator by re-welding the puncture pressure testing the unit, and placing silicone in the spot that was rubbing which caused the leak.  Keep in mind he could have easily made his life easier and just said you need a radiator and make me cough up another $400 plus labor to fix the problem.  Being a standup and honest mechanic he did not do that and really went out of his way to save me money, time, and a huge headache.  All in all Adan at AQ is my new go to mechanic.  He has won my trust and business and I will be taking my Subaru to him from now on.  If you are looking for a professional Subaru race shop you can trust with your car and money, look no further Adan is your man.  Give Adan a call and he can help you over the phone. read more

Have taken previous cars to many different mechanic shops and all have their ups and downs but the main things I value are, reasonable labor cost, fast turnaround, and good respectable knowledge/info when asking questions. Be Careful when you bring your car to this place!! I brought my WRX here worried that I might have a head gasket leak. The owner charged me $200 to do a leak down test to ensure my motor was healthy. He told me not to worry because the engine was fine and there was no HG leak. So I leave happy thinking my car is fine and weeks later a huge white cloud flies out of my tale pipe on start up...My head gasket is effed! and my block is warped!! Thousands of dollars of repairs are now needed to replace the whole damn block!! If you do bring your car here just make sure you or someone you come with knows their stuff so they don't take advantage of you. Again, be careful with this place. read more

When I bought my Mazdaspeed 3 brand new back in 2010, I didn't know what to expect from the platform. Since it was the first year of the 2nd Gen I started modding it slowly doing your standard bolt-ons. I needed some help with my cat-back exhaust and found AQ Motorsports. Upon rolling up to the shop I was a little intimidated. There were a sea of Subarus in the lot and in the garage! However, looking at all of them though, I could tell that this was the place to take your modded platform. Adan, the owner and his staff have done an amazing job with my car throughout the years. I'll always be grateful to him for saving my car (and me) from catastrophic failure. I still have the car and love seeing all the cars at his place knowing that they'll all leave huge smiles on their owner's faces. After reading the reviews for this place, I made an appointment and came in to get a Perrin Shift Stop and Brass Shifter Bushing installed on my WRX since I didn't have the tools to do it myself. The install itself is very simple and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, maybe an hour max if it's your first time installing the parts and following a YouTube tutorial. The gentleman who helped me out did a great job with installing the parts, but I'm just bummed out that I was charged for 1.5 hours of labor. I get it - the shop needs to make money and I'm paying for a service. But I think it's a bit unfair to be charged for time that wasn't used. I started a timer as soon as I entered the building and I was there for about an hour total. Since there was another customer before me, they didn't start working on my car until about 20 minutes after I had arrived. Once my car was pulled into the shop, the whole install process took about 30 minutes and then I was handed my keys to leave. So what should've costed me 30 minutes of labor (maybe an hour if we're pushing it) ended up costing me 1.5 hours of labor. Yikes. Just a heads up for everyone, this shop is very knowledgeable and does good work, but just make sure that you're being charged fairly for the amount of labor they're putting in. read more
