This is the coolest place in the northwoods. Beautiful building, cool hip relaxed environment fit for everyone from grandparents to young kids. The owners are super friendly and accomodating. If you want to experience a more upscale well prepared menu and vast assortment of beers and wines in a laid back setting this is the place. Such a gem! It was awesome to find such a nice gastropub in the Northwoods! An old converted coffee shop, with a welcoming atmosphere... Reminded me of being in a really big living room. We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Not too busy, the place is kind of small but very comfortable. I had the steak sandwich and it was excellent. I tried all of their beer and the only one that hit home with me was their Oktoberfest. Now all up to this point was good until you see how much they charge for the beer at this place. I ordered a growler of the Oktoberfest to take back to the cabin and I was completely shocked when the young lady said $24!!! I know their are a lot of people from Illinois coming up here all the time that they try to take advantage of in the wallet but this was just plain rediculous. I got a growler in Minaqua as well as Eagle River at their respective brew houses and both charged $15 for a growler which is normal for just about every place I've ever gone. The atmosphere is good, the food was very very average. They have no fryers there for nothing fried such as french fries onion rings. Service was okay but we had to ask for water twice and when we got our appetizer they gave us no small plates to put it on. Much better options in my opinion in the boulder Junction area. While on a bicycle riding trip to Northern Wisconsin, we dined at this wonderful restaurant! We actually found it through Yelp and I'll have to say that almost all of the reviews were spot on! The atmosphere was just beautiful, and as a restaurant designer I can tell you that I tend to be pretty tough when it comes to the design part! Our amazing wait person, Carrie, (sp?) told us a little of the history of the building, and that the restaurant owner and his designer wife had put this together themselves.... They did a fantastic job! As for the food, you would be hard pressed to find a better pizza anywhere! The crust was perfect and the sauces and toppings were imaginative and first rate! That, and a really impressive wine and beer list, made for a fantastic dining experience!! We can't wait to return! read more

Their flatbread pizzas are to die for, but I was really disappointed to see how much the menu shrank from when we were in Boulder Junction last year. Just had a fantastic lunch at Aqualand Alehouse! We biked here from Manitowish Waters. It was a great stop before we start the ride back. Fantastic beer selection (if you add Karben4 Fantasy Factory you will be rock stars). Food was very good. Caesar salad with salmon was really good. The house lemon caper dressing on the side salad was delicious. Would have liked guac or pico de gallo for the Veggie Quesadilla. Highly recommend! read more

Aqualand Ale House has a great selection of craft beers and the food was outstanding.We enjoyed the "Musky" beer sampler of 10 different brews. This meal of Poor man's lobster was the best in the Northwoods! The server was friendly and professional and really quick. The meal came with mashed potatoes which were exellent and coleslaw which was of the same caliber. We will definitely come again. read more

The Mrs. and I just left. Slow service started us off. Pretzel appetizers were fantastic and we waited for the waitress to come back to take our order. She returned 20 minutes later, after taking an order of 6 (that came in after us) to literally tell us the kitchen was now taking a break. There were four tables with people seated. One table finished eating, one table was just served, one table just ordered, and the two of us were told the kitchen was taking a break. Ugh, what. Faak off, enjoy the 10% tip. Oh, and they were 'out of' all pizzas. It's only a third of their menu so it's cool. 2 stars. One for great pretzels, one for great beer selection. read more

I have visited the Ale House multiple times on several trips to the Boulder Jct area over the last 3 years. Although I am not much of a beer drinker the owner can always find one of the craft beers that I will enjoy. If I'm not in the mood they also have a good wine selection. The food is great, I love that the chef is always trying new things for the menu! I will be returning in August and plan another stop at the Ale House. read more

I have traveled the US. extensively and consider myself a foodie. I was disappointed in the quality of food here. I have patronized this place twice for the past two summers, the appeal being that several microbrews are offered,and hoping to find a well executed plate of food. Each time the food is simply sub par, both in below average quality and quantity. The sandwiches are NOT filling, nor are the dinners. Plates were bare. My soup was watery and heavy on rosemary. Rosemary soup lol. Found no dinner special on a Thursday night in peak season, summer. I'll stop in the future for a good beer, but will go elsewhere to dine. Service is always excellent. read more

Overall a nice place. Only thing was our waitress, Lisa, was extremely rude. We came after the 4th of July parade with a group of 19 who were all willing to sit separately if needed. As soon as we walked in there was no other customer so we all sat at a couple different tables and Lisa told us if other people came we would be required to move so other groups could sit, and we had only taken the 19 seats we needed. When ordering we asked if meat could be added to salad and she told us no because they were too busy. We ordered tea and asked if there was sweet tea and she said no but there's sweetener and we are perfectly capable of sweetening it on our own we also asked what was floating in it and she abruptly answered, leaves-it's fresh. I was told I could get tomatoes off of my sandwich because they were too busy to change anything from the menu. I would definitely go back but would request a different waitress. read more
