    A delicious lunch

Love the fresh salads, homemade soups, specialty drinks -Chandon (so pretty), and awesome service. Highly recommend.

Great spot! And dare I say a hidden gem in the Northwoods! Fantastic outdoor patio with a fire pit, lots of shade, and a fun vibe. Great beer selection. Cool bar space inside. And excellent service. It's definitely not your "typical" Northwoods pub. No burgers. No cheese curds. Coke in a can. More eclectic menu. But they executed what they do have on the menu extremely well. If you're looking for a change of pace it's absolutely worth a 30 minute drive. We'll be back

Great ambiance, loved the outdoor patio, and great beer selection. Good food too. My husband is picky about his prime rib sandwiches and loved it. And he also loves a good hazy juicy IPA. The Ursa Minor Face Slap was a hit.

    Wes. Good service, great even.

Good service. Great service even. They've got plenty of water. Couple good beers ig (I don't even drink). Food was just as hot as I like it too, that was cool ig.

Awesome change of pace for food in the north woods. Not your typical supper club fare.

Food was "just okay" and not much on the plate with a $14 charge for a fish fry. Wait staff was good. Will not go back again.

When I was a kid, our yearly vacation was to a primitive Fishing Camp in Land O' Lakes Wisconsin…read more No hot water, no tub or shower, primitve toilet and no AC. I learned early I didn't give a damn about fishing, and even less about 2 weeks in a primitive fishing camp. Every few days we had to go re-stock supplies (mostly beer for the grownups) and it was a trip to Boulder Junction to do so. I couldn't wait for those trips to get away from the crushing boredom of the camp. Back then, (60's) Boulder Junction was speck of fly-shit on the map of Wisconsin, quaint and gemütlichkeit as it was. In the 21st century, it ain't much bigger, but it sure has grown in vibe. It's now an artsy-crunchy village of shops and places for the well-to-do who have their summer joints in the vicinity to have a cocktail and a bite to eat. The Guides Inn had the highest YELP rating and was close to our Hotel on the night we arrived, so it got the nod. It's a Wisconsin Supper club, dressed a notch up. The gruff fellow at the bar (who was gruff at some other folks, not us) eased up and took care of us admirably, crafting divine Brandy OldFashioneds which balmed the edge off the 400mile+ ride from Chicago. There were a bunch of us, and they could not fit our entire group at one table, so we were in 4-top tribes. Not perfect, but it was OK. There was an amuse-bouche relish tray-haven't seen one of those in a while. Typical of Wisco Supper clubs these days, there were surprises on the menu. In this case Walleye Cheeks. If you've ever been to a fine Spanish/Basque resto, you might have had Kokotxas (Cod Cheeks) which are among the finest Tapas you can get (and an apt delivery system for Garlic, Chilis and Olive Oil). There's a pocket of very tender and tasty meat on the side of certain fishes heads called "cheeks" (it makes sense, n'est ce pas?) and on a Walleye, which is a fine eating fish in any preparation, the "Cheeks" are indeed a delicacy. They were breaded/fried here and totally yum. The onion soup was, as well. My Entree was Beef Wellington (another dish you might not suspect from a Wisco Supper club in the middle of nowhere) and it was top-notch. Accompanied by Wild Rice-There's the Northwoods signature. Wife had a regular Filet Mig which she reported was fine. Service was good, and the decor a step up, like I indicated previously, from a garden-variety Wisco Supper Club. The CHECK, however, was closer to downtown Chicago than the map might suggest. Not the bargain bill you usually find at Supper Clubs, but I'll say the dear prices were commensurate with the bread and circuses. A pleasant evening in a pleasant place...

Our server, Leah, was very pleasant and met our every need. I'm extremely picky about tartar sauce and she brought me out plenty to try and then when I loved it, more to enjoy with their excellent fries. I thought it was the best I've ever had in a restaurant. We all enjoyed our meal and my daughter loved her Fettuccine Alfredo especially. My walleye sandwich was incredible, too, especially since that tartar sauce was so phenomenal. One thing that really caught my eye was how hard the hostess was working. I don't think I've ever seen someone of her generation with such an amazing work ethic. It was kind of fun to watch her do her thing. If I had a company of my own locally, I would definitely be working to hire her. I didn't get her name, a d she looked awfully young to own the place. She acted as if she did, however. Amazing!

If you like good old Wisconsin tavern charm, this is the place for you. Both times we stopped in, the service was great, and the locals sitting at the bar were friendly and a delight to talk to. It has that comfortable, welcoming atmosphere you hope to find in a small-town Wisconsin tavern. The menu is somewhat limited, but what they do, they do very well. The first night we had the burger and fries. The burger was cooked to order and was fantastic. The house-cut fries were also excellent. I'd love to know what kind of potatoes they use because those fries are seriously tasty! And definitely get the cheese curds they're a must. We came back on Friday night for the fish fry. It was much busier, but the service was still good. The fish fry was excellent, and the portion was much larger than I expected. We definitely left pleased! I come up to Northern Wisconsin every year, and Bushwood Tavern has earned a spot on my list of places I'll be coming back to every year. After a few minutes of trying to get attention the bartender told us to sit anywhere but to order at the bar. The menu on the tables wasn't close to what we had seen online which was a bummer. We also noticed a good amount of other guests clearly waiting for their food, and frankly looking a little annoyed. We tried to go up and order drinks but after few minutes of waiting decided this wasn't going to be a good choice for us. The airflow was not good for a hot night, and the bar smelled badly of old grease. This spot is definitely better suited for just drinks for anyone in no rush at all.
