I catered from here for a family dinner. Since their banchan has a good reputation, i figured this will be a better option over other markets. I ordered 3 different pancakes, marinated raw crabs, some of the namool (vegetables). Nothing fancy about them although i paid $300for them; not any tastier or more fresh compared to other catering options. Crabs were of poor quality, with the shells all broken (they break them so we can eat better but these were just shattered to pieces) with so much spice, i felt like i paid for the spice not for the crab. Worst of all, the vegetables were sooooo salty. I ended up throwing them out. I thought about calling to complain but didnt want to waste my time. Not going again read more

I really like this place. Their meat quality and prices are fantastic! I always stock up on short ribs when they are on sale and the butcher will cut items to your specifications if you like. I've tried so many fruits and veggies that are "new" to me just by looking around and trying something new. read more

I don't regularly shop here but when I do it's always an adventure. I was picking up Choys Golden Rice Flour chicken to go, was hankering for something to accompany it(really great gf chicken btw) I spotted something at the catering wall "pumpkin pancake" actually some sliced zucchini dipped in egg flour batter. I brought the tray home ($3.50) heated a small amt of oil in pan fried to heat, wow, just what I was craving. Added some salt, perfect. I came here because of all of the good reviews but this place is dead. The place looks ran down inside, their grocery food is like halfway empty on the shelves, especially the seafood area. Their groceries look old and stale, there's barely anyone shopping inside. They have fast food inside the grocery store, on the left side. There is really only one reason you'll see me at a Korean market. And it's to buy Korean ice cream. And when it comes to Korean ice cream, no other market beats the prices and selection that AR Mart has. My usual selections are Papico and Melon Bar, which can be had for $3 when on sale; that's just unheard of! Papico (which is this soft fudgesicle-like ice cream in a tube) was my favorite ice cream treat while growing up in Korea and it probably still is! Oh and I noticed they always have one of the Japanese curry brands on sale so whenever I go, I always grab me some of those as well. 5 stars for having the best Korean market ice cream section! read more

I also get some Korean side dishes to go with the Bulgogi like kimchee, seaweed salad, bean sprout salad, spicy cuttle fish and spicy fish cakes. Huge portion and affordable. AR Mart is an Asian market located inside a big business plaza. They have a large produce, meat and hot and cold food section. Their lettuce is always super cheap. They also have a computer/electronics repair and a small food court that I have yet to try. The place is clean and there's ample parking outside. I recommend this place! read more

I come here for the convenience of the location and sometimes because I just can't deal with standing in line for 30 mins. This market is not nearly as busy as the other 3 korean markets on Beach which the traffic and finding parking can be a nightmare. That being said, this market is older and a lot smaller than your "normal" Korean markets BUT they do have all your essentials and a lot more for A LOT cheaper than your Hmart. I have nothing against Hmart, I do shop there on a monthly basis but sometimes I look at my receipt and think, was lettuce this expensive? AR mart is definitely the cheapest Korean market around and their produce and meat are decent (not the best) and for the price, a steal, and if you're looking for produce or meat that you plan on marinating/cooking in sauce, it's not that big of a deal. There are a lot of workers here who's really helpful if you need help picking out things or looking for something specific. They're pretty traditional Korean so they can come off rude but they never brush us off (to be fair, I do speak Korean so they're more helpful vs to my boyfriend who is not Korean and them trying to explain something to him in English). Inside is decently clean. It's a typical Korean market. Several electric shops, cosmetics, miscellaneous, food court and market. - Gluttony Expedition - - Food court on the left side of the market. All Korean foods! - Fresh produces: Cheap!! You can get all kind of vegetables and fruits with great prices. That's a great thing about Korean market. - Asian foods/ingredients: Yes, you can find various stuffs. - You can buy various banchan (all kinda kimchi) by weight. It's kinda cool! - Fish: From fish to ready-to-eat foods like sashimi and packages for the hot pot. - Meats: Sure they have marinated meats. I haven't tried them yet. - Conqueror's Deduction - It's a lot closer than Buena Park/ Garden Grove for your Korean/Asian food needs. If you were in Fullerton, sure this is pretty convenient. I was wandering around the area before grabbing dinner, and saw this very... unassuming Korean market. Figured I would just check in and grab a drink. Instead, I left with a full cart of groceries? It really doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside there's a small small food court, health store, some vendors selling the usual Korean consumer goods, and the market itself. The best part about this market is definitely the self-serve banchan station, sorta like the salad station at Ralphs or Whole Foods! This is the first time I've seen a self-serve banchan station at a Korean restaurant. Usually it is already packed and sitting in packages, but here, you can buy as much as you want or as little as you want! There's the usual like kimchi, cucumber, anchovies, but also a whole bunch I only see at restaurants. That's legit. The produce here is also ridiculously cheap. While walking through, I see a bunch of people grabbing heads of cabbage and then I realize why... 10 heads of cabbage for 99cents. You gotta be kidding me! Chili peppers and green onions were also hot item that day, and of course, bunch of Korean ladies were shuffling through them finding the best ones. Oranges, peaches, and grapefruit were also on "sale." They don't even bother hiding past prices since they just slap a new price tag on the poles. I actually went through and flipped through previous sales to see if the sale right now is the best one and ended up buying bags of fruits for the fam. The other items are fairly typical and it seems like they do mail out coupons to nearby neighborhoods. They were pretty adamant on having the coupon to get the sale for this one snack that I wanted so I had to leave it behind. Sad. The only thing that bothers me with this market is the lighting. There's a ton, but the high bay fixtures they use give out this very weak artificial white light. Much needed update. This place has great prices on steaks (you can get two well marbled rib eyes about 3/4" thick for about $5 for BOTH) and seafood (salmon steak for about $3). Their sushi section is still lacking, though, and their uni I wouldn't even try (looked brown, yuck). I just wish they had live crab and lobster here. Seems like the only live seafood they have here is halibut, some type of small belt fish, and various mollusks. Ban chan bar is still great, and LOTS of choices. Always kept very clean. Produce section is also clean and well organized, with great deals as well. The major downside is that the management here allows "missionaries" to stand outside ALL day begging for money to fund their missionary trip to South East Asia. I do not like to be pestered trying to do my errands. And if I'm going to give money it's going to be through a reputable agency like the Red Cross or Salvation Army, not some random kid standing on the corner. They close at 10pm sharp and aren't shy about turning the case lights off on you. So don't make them wait any longer than you absolutely have to so they can get home. read more

My mom and dad went here to get some fresh fish for sashimi. The man helping my dad at the counter basically overcharged him. The fish he wanted was $25/lb. He was overcharged another $25 because he didn't weigh the fish after it was cleaned. He then continued to raise his voice, saying SHIBAL and demanding to know how old my dad was. He didn't apologize. He continued to yell and scream like a drunk man, at my dad who was a customer that was wronged. Luckily my dad decided to just walk away otherwise he would've probably come at my dad with a knife. Everyone going to this market beware of that psycho at the fish counter. Got some sushi at the restaurant within the store (presumably the same fish they sell at the market) and it was very good and reasonably priced. The only real issue I had was that the chef didn't speak English so it was difficult to ask him about the different types if fish they have or even a normal conversation. Very awkward ordering process, these guys should really work on their English. But at least they weren't racist about it. Felt like the sushi they served was very good and not skimpy or anything like that. I also bought some tuna from the market which was very good! I would have bought some uni as well but some of the color was brown or green and looked like it had been sitting there a very long time or not properly cleaned or prepared. AR offers a great selection of Korean side dishes, kimchi, noodles, dumplings, alcohol, spices, etc. My only complaint is that the soju is never refrigerated /: Just buy beforehand and pop them in the fridge! The racism here is appalling, hadn't been here in a while was feeling Korean food for the week so I went to gather my supplies I usually don't mind the rude stares and the lack of personal space most of the people that shop here have but man this time was an experience! Employees here are so nice. They remind me of my mom. I cook Korean food often and I always get my ingredients and produce here. The employees always recommend a cheaper product for me (I love saving money) or offer other suggestions when they see what I might be cooking at the register. Prices here are affordable. They're handling the COVID pandemic nicely. I see them wearing gloves, masks and social distancing. Very friendly environment. Their parking is much less hectic than other three korean markets in Buena park (cookie cutter design), and they always have their items stocked. Not only that, but this place is wayy less crowded. I initially avoided this place due to the poor reviews but I realized I needed to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did and encourage others looking to change up their dinner ideas during the week. The marinated meats such as pork, flank ribs and chicken were great on the grill. Another interesting dish was the spicy soup with all the goods needed to make it a hardy meal. It never hurts to be out of the box and having ladies giving out samples during your shopping excursion can introduce you to something new. Vegetables are inexpensive as well as the meats. Also known as ARIRANG market, this is my to-go-place to buy cheap Asian produce. This place is actually frequented by many locals--not just local Korean residents--but people like myself! The produce here is cheap and pretty good quality--for example: enoki mushrooms (3 packs for $1), cauliflower (3 heads for $1), green onion (7 bunches for $1). I've never seen such a good deals at Ranch 99 on Euclid...ever! While the choice of vegetables are somewhat different at the two locations, I find that buying my essentials (e.g. basic veggies) at AR MART to be cheaper, higher quality, and much more convenient for me at least. I know that Korean and Chinese cuisine are markedly different, so AR MART does not have all the different types of Chinese vegetables like gai lan, yau choy, bok choy sum, ong choy, -- but has the common-to-all cuisines ("universal") veggies such as squashes, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, and corn. AR MART does an outstanding job to serve my food needs. What else do I love about AR MART? The fresh ban chans, pre-packed Korean dishes (japchae!), wide selection of meats for Korean BBQ, and a gazillion choices for go chu flakes, go chu jang, and fish sauces. AR MART is also well-lit, clean, and airy -- shopping here is definitely a very pleasurable experience! I can't wait to go grocery shopping again this week! :) read more

Finally a Korean market east of Buena Park. Generally Korean markets are good for several things: 1. Big boxes of humongous fruit to give as gifts 2. Cheap prices on produce such as green onions, cilantro, spinach, cabbage 3. A million varieties of dried seaweed 4. Popsicles 5. 25 lb bags of rice 6. soju 7. a wide variety of kimchee 8. aisles packed with boxes that really bring out the stereotype of Asian drivers 9. portable butane stoves and fuel canisters 10. 5 lb bags of peeled garlic AR market is not a top notch market, but also not on the bottom either. It's main draw is that it is more conveniently located for Koreans who live in Sunny Hills. It gets pretty high traffic due to its geographic monopoly. read more

Just came back from AR market. They need to calibrate their scales at the check out lanes because all of my produce were charged at a higher weight than actual. (By about .6 lbs). The only reason I checked all the weights at home was because my toddler was holding on to a small Persian cucumber and we paid for it along with the rest of the groceries. I came home and checked the receipt and it said the cucumber was .86 lbs. It actually weighed .22 lbs when I used my kitchen scale at home. I checked it because I couldn't believe that one Persian cucumber can weigh that much. Anyway, I then checked all my other produce and they were all off by that amount. Also I wanted to check that my scale was working right so I weighed a 2lb weight on the scale and it was right on. I hope it's just a mistake on their end. Hoping they are not maliciously adding more weight to the produce. So disappointed...:( read more

It is a hit and miss here. I will not shop here for anymore just because I think it's unethical for the store to sell customers bagged up rotten produce. I normally come here for the dry seaweed for my son and I spend about 50 to 80 dollars about twice week on groceries here so I can just make one stop. Do not buy their bagged up produces. I am not a huge fan of this market. Here are my reasons -Location: The parking is horrible! There are a bunch of parking spots that are only for the bank, restaurants, and businesses around the market and when you go during peak hours (which for Koreans is open to close) it's hard to find parking. -Food court: I've eaten here a few times, not because I don't want to try the different restaurants, but because there is limited seating! For having 5 different restaurants this place only has 20 tables. My advice: if you're hungry order it to go and take it home! -Lay out: I don't know what it is about this market, but the way they lay out their merchandise makes me crazy. I feel that it's disorganized and it bugs me. -Frequent buying card: They don't have it! At least at hannam chain if you spend over $30 they give you some percentage back. Even though it's not a lot it does add up and it makes you feel appreciated for shopping and spending your money. Overall, I will stop by this market if I'm coming home from the 5 freeway since it's on the way. Other than that I will go to hannam chain instead. If you do go I would go when they open or when they close...there is still a lot of people, but your chances of finding parking is better than when you go mid day. read more
