My friend took me here because I LOVE plants! The vibe is amazing and the people here are really great. I went on a Friday night and there was live music. I got a glass of wine to share with my friend and we enjoyed our time there. I loved being able to look at plants and recognizing almost all of them. There's a good amount of seating, but the bar gets pretty busy and people tend to be a bit pushy but that's part of going to a busy bar. Would def come back. read more

Cool plant concept and of course in the Mission, but unfortunately the wine was not good..even their signature orange wine, it tasted like expired kombucha. The reds were not full body, tasted flat, not sure how they're keeping the opened bottles. The waitress seemed annoyed when i declined the first taste test, had to chat her up to make her day better and so then she was warmer and i felt less guilty declining the wine and i just settled for one i didn't taste test bc it was already the 3rd one i've tried and i decided just to go with something familiar. such a cute place. I loved the red wine I had, very smooth and non-bitter. Our server was very helpful at picking the wine! The place itself is such a chill vibe, love all the foliage! They also had a DJ playing this night with great music. They have some table to sit at besides their small bar area but not many. On a night where there is a DJ I would say it gets pretty busy, sometimes finding it hard to find a place to sit for 2 people. Great date night spot for a beautiful venue and wonderful wine! I've wanted to come for a long time now but always thought I needed a reservation (you don't, but would recommend coming before 5/6 PM if you want to ensure a seat). We went on a Sunday afternoon at 4 PM and that was plenty open seating and easy to snag a spot to grab a drink and chat. At 7 PM or so, the live jazz band started playing which was such a nice addition to overall snazzy vibe of the place (full calendar of the different bands/music that plays every night on their website!). It's a bit loud though, so you'll def have to raise your voice a bit or sit closer to the person you're with to hear them. As most mentioned on here, the entire spot is filled with greenery and plants and truly is/looks like an urban greenhouse. It's beautiful! *heart eyes* Esp when you're a plantswoman. Next time I come, I'd want to take a closer look at all the plants to see which one I might just be able to take home hehe! (they're mostly if not all available for purchase!) read more

I came here for a lil drinky winky before a dinner reservation next door. They had a happy hour from 4-6 with some $10 wines, and the one I got was great! I love how earthy and cozy this place feels, truly a great place to relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine. I had always walked past this place whenever I was around the mission. The aesthetic architecture has always intrigued me. But I never had the time to go. Luckily, one of my favorite artists was doing a pop-up event at this spot and I finally had an excuse to check it out. It's a very beautiful store. The staff were incredibly nice. This plant store turned nighttime bar is one of the vibiest places I've been in the Mission! I came here with a group of friends around 6:30 PM on a Saturday and this place was already packed! We were able to snag a seat in the back but I recommend going early if you have more than 4 people in your party. The plants here are unique and very expensive. It is definitely nice to look at and contributes to the ambiance. My friends and I ordered a bottle for $70 and shared it amongst ourselves. They also do "Orange wine" here too but I think it's a little too tart & bitter for me. Live band comes on at 7:30 PM! This is a great place to start your night if you're going on a night out or a good end if you're looking for something chill. I definitely recommend this place to vibe out. read more

I had a nonalcoholic drink here which was super refreshing albeit a bit expensive. Being surrounded by luscious greenery with an amazing band playing made for a lovely night out. Amazing location, amazing interior design and friendly staff...so you're probably wondering why I'm rating this establishment 2 stars. The wine was absolutely $#|%. My wife and I selected two glasses of red wine and first sip impression was a very light one dimensional wine. Second sip left the impression of a mix of fermented koolaid and kombucha. We suffered through the glass. This place was packed so we thought maybe we made a bad selection because all the other patrons seemed to be enjoying their wine. We ordered two different glasses of wine and nope we had the exact same experience. This time the wine had a nose of rotting vegetables in a compost bin. My advice to this wine bar would be to get some real wine and it would be a 5 star place for us. We headed over to SWIRL in the castro and had a couple of amazing wine selections. read more

We came here for a post work pre-dinner hang. It was a weekday and we were there around 6pm and was able to nab a table after someone got up. After that though, it was hard to get a spot. As others have said, this place is unique in that it is a plant shop/bar/lounge. Shortly after we arrived, the band that was playing that night began to set up. There is no waiter service so you order at the small bar. The wait can get long at times, but the place is small, so there aren't as many patrons as other establishments. The menu is also small, with no real food, just bites. We got the Mezzah Board, which was a variation of a charcuterie board, and was really good. We also grabbed a couple of bottles of wine that were fairly priced. The beer selection is not huge, but we stuck with wine. The band that night was good, not too loud and they engaged with the crowd. I would recommend this place for the unique experience and vibe. read more

Such a fun concept! A plant store that doubles as a bar/live music venue at night, and a tea shop by day - what more could you want? I do wish there were more non-alcoholic drinks during bar hours - I really wanted to try their tea but we were only there for an evening. The non-alcoholic options they did have were very unique and delicious, though! They had two drinks from Lyre's, which were sparkling mocktails and so, so good. All of the drinks were served in such beautiful glasses, and the whole space was incredible, from the hanging art installations to the bathrooms! Overall had a solid time at Arcana! Came here for a mixer and ordered the Strawberry feelz which I enjoyed! I liked the variety of wines that you could choose from. I'm not sure if I came on a particular night when the menu was different, but I wish that they had a bigger selection! The staff were also super helpful in helping me choose the wine I wanted to try and the vibe is super nice for happy hour. I liked how they had benches and couches so you don't need to stand all the time. The space can be a little tight so be prepared to stand in large groups. The plants make all the difference in creating a living atmosphere. It is really unique and their commitment to their collection is to be commended. I never tried orange wines and was recommended the macabeo (stronger citrus/stone fruit notes) and the malvasia (more bubbly and easier for those new to orange wines). A friend got the mommenpop spritz (which was practically an aperol spritz). The service is friendly and definitely helpful. Such a sweet spot! I've never gotten a chance to stop by during the day, but I love the nighttime vibe that they have. The location itself is beautiful and welcoming. My friend and I stopped in for some wine and the selection was lengthy. I was able to get a delicious orange wine which is generally pretty hard to find. Arcana is a super cute plant shop, transformed into a wine bar at night! My friends and I visited Friday night when the bar hosted a live jazz performance. We arrived around 8pm and the bar was already quite crowded. We couldn't find any seats, but we were able to order our wines quite easily. We ordered the Riesling, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon blanc. The wines were quite good and the amount poured was very generous. Definitely recommend arcana if you like plants, music, and wine! read more

I'm only reviewing the wine bar aspect of Arcana. I went out on a Saturday night with a couple friends and we had a great time! The crowd there was hip and youngish, maybe 30 somethings that looked like they could head out to a club or an investment dinner afterwards. The line was pretty long at first, but the bartenders (there were only 2 of them when we were there) moved through people pretty quickly. I had the Cab Sav which was tasty, and one of the cheaper glasses on the menu. My friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. There's a lot different options on the menu, and we got to try 2 before ordering. I'll need to come back to check out how Arcana rates as a plant store! Definitely a cool spot! read more

We all really enjoyed the lightwell survey as it was very light and fruity. The maloof was ok, according to one of my friends, almost "vegetal"-like. I came here late Sunday for casual wine drinking. This place has been on my list for a while and I am glad I got to go. It is a plant person and wine drinker's paradise. There are plenty of wine selections from red, white, rose, to orange. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I don't think this has a wine tasting service at all, but for some reason I thought it would have something like it. You can buy a whole wine bottle and drink at home for the cost of one glass here. I expected an elevated experience if I paid for one drink that costs about a pretty San Francisco lunch. Overall 3 stars only because it would be way cheaper to buy a wine bottle and drink at home, but you get pretty plants and nice ambiance here, which also can be done at home. Mind as well go to a nice restaurant that sells wine while you pay for what you get there at a fair amount. Arcana does not pass the vibe check, but might be worthwhile to come in during a live music or event date here. read more

Came here for a wedding celebration. We had a party of about 60ish people & they knocked it lit of the park. Had everything set up, tables, drinks, & food set up by the time we had arrived. Absolutely nothing to complain about. All of the staff were friendly, awesome, & accommodating. Andi (Andy?) was our bartender & she was the greatest. Satisfied every request & then some. They even allow Spotify control of their speakers so you can control your own music. If you need a moderate-sized venue accommodations, you should definitely consider this location. read more
