It's like they have never seen a black person before. Also terrible service from the waitress as well. She was giving me a hard time while I was ordering my food. She had asked if I wanted water, and not a regular drink. She also asked me to repeat several times like she couldnt understand me, which was bullshit cause my date is white and she could understand me perfectly. Overall a very awkward experience to be in. I've lived in Scranton for 6 years and have tried Old Forge style pizza but hadn't been to Old Forge until today. Went in for lunch and loved this place. Server was great. Enjoyed some Chianti while sampling original, white broccoli garlic onion, and double crust white and it was all delicious. read more

Love this place but tonight our entrées were served with our appetizers. The chicken in our salads was not cooked through and were chewy. Didn't complain, but brought it to the waitresses attention and she said "you probably picked the only chewy ones". Not very customer friendly !! Ugh! Let down! read more

I'm going to give this a 2 star rating because the staff is deserving at least. I had ordered the homemade ravioli which is something I never order anywhere but because they were homemade I wanted to try them. I think there was 6 or 7 on the plate. To say that they were "al dente" is being too kind. They were hardly cooked at all. I will day that the filling was very good. Wish it wasn't paired with raw shell. I also got meatballs which tasted like they were taken out of a bag purchased from a supermarket and thawed as needed. My date got the chicken scampi which looked awful. To be honest with you, I've eaten here before and the pizza was 10 times better, but it was 2 or 3 years ago. I drove out of my way to go back to this place on a trip back up to western NY. I was pretty disappointed to what I came back to. I got a red square pie and it just seemed undercooked. It tasted a little like ellios pizza that you get in the freezer section of the supermarket. I should have went with the thin crust as well, maybe a side slice, just so I could have fairly judged both. But there was too much cheese for such a good sauce. Unfortunately, i was pretty bummed by the quality this time. The chances I come back to Old Forge are high because of all the other pizza, but I don't know about this place, if its just for a quick pizza. Hands down my favorite Old Forge pizza. The crust is super light and airy and the toppings are delicious. My personal recommendation is sausage (which is crumbled Italian sausage, so good!), onion and sweet peppers. Its like the best sausage and pepper sandwich you'll ever have. Everything is good though, including their double crusted white. I get the white with broccoli every time I go, but can't eat more than one cut because it is very heavy. Be warned that wait times for seating can be very long on weekends, and the process for getting seated can be confusing to the outsider. All you need to do is get in line near the bar and wait for the older woman with the notepad to find you. Don't try to juke the system, because I think she'll literally throw you out, she doesn't mess around. Well worth the wait and always a great experience! read more

I ordered the red pizza with sausage. For the price ($25) I thought I was in for a real treat and couldn't wait to get that "Old Forge" pizza. Unfortunately the pizza was very disappointing. Mind you I rarely write a negative review but I feel my pizza was rushed through with very little preparation. The crust was "doughy" as if the pizza was not cooked through. I even placed in 400 degree oven at home for about 8 minutes and that didn't help either. Not sure what the problem was. Plus there was very little sauce and cheese on the pizza. However the sausage amount was generous and tasted good. I asked for extra sauce on the side and I didn't receive that either. On the positive side I used Uber Eats for delivery and they were efficient with a good hand off. I will not be ordering from this restaurant in the future and I don't recommend. OK it was good but not jumping up and down as best ever or other superlatives. Maybe as a former NYC native I am spoiled. Maybe in a bygone era this was it. Tried the regular plain red slice, and also sausage, sausage was good ( best part) crumbled and broken up on a slice, reheated with some extra cheese on top. Tasty yes, but not as expected given the buildup. This was my second visit. I think I just had the OF pizza the first time. I can say I am not a big fan of OF style pizza. It's not bad, not great, just different from what I really like which is S NJ pizza with lots of Italian seasoning and you fold it in half when you eat it. We do have a white spinach in the freezer from A&G so I will let you know how that is. The service was very good here (although it was pretty empty at lunch time). I enjoyed the house dressing on the salad and I asked for the complimentary bean salad which they brought out no problem. I had a pannini with prosciutto and mozzarella and peppers. it was pretty good but I wished I had gone with my second choice of meatballs on a ciabatta which my dining partner ordered. It was amazing (see pics). We also tried the Carbonara which came topped with peppers and pancetta and bacon...I've never seen it prepared like that, I highly recommend it. Arcaro & Genell represents my first foray into Old Forge pizza, and it definitely won't be my last. This pizza is pretty much amazing, and different from any I'd had before. I tried the red. It has a crispy, seemingly fried crust, nice sauce that's a little spicy, and an interesting blend of cheeses. I recommend meatball as a topping, they were awesomely flavorful. A full 12-cut tray is HUGE so definitely keep that in mind when ordering. Not that having leftovers is a bad thing, as it heated up perfectly well the next day. Service at A&G was on the slow side, as there was only one waitress on duty when I was there, but the pizza is totally worth any wait. I'll be back to try the white next time. read more

The pizza gets the 4 stars, half way between thin and thick crust but light as air with a nice plain sauce and light hand on the cheese as well as a dynamite white pizza with loads of garlic, double crust (top and bottom). Also they make a blackened chicken ceasar salad that is amazing. I would love to have the marinade recipe-it is not cajun cooking thou, very unique taste. Servers are nice and it is in the 'pizza capital of the world'; Old Forge which looks the same as I remember from 1960. 4 stars for me means worth the drive if you are in the area. read more

For this kind of place, this place is perfect, or at least it was for us. We were from out of town, and the locals made us feel right at home. The pizza was great, especially the double-crust white, and the red pizza was good too - good sauce, lots of cheese, and tasty toppings. Marvin the Magician was walking around in the bar - and entertained us more than you can believe. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. First time here. Yes, NEPA I'm from NY so I'll never understand old forge style pizza. The place is cute, old world charm that I love. The food is meh at best. NYers stay away from their red sauce, tastes just out of the can. The double crust pizza j don't understand. Old forge is already 80% bread to cheese & sauce arguably the best parts of pizza. I will say the white pizza was Beth tasty & k was shocked to bite into a crispy crust, albeit too much of it. I wouldn't go back or recommend it but I've had worse. We came to dinner on a Saturday night and expected it to be busy and we would have to wait a bit. We were told thirty minutes and waited over an hour. We sat at the bar and were ignored by the bartender and then WAY over charged for our drinks. My aunt asked for wine with a side of ice and the bartender filled her wine glass with ice, then wine, then topped it off with more ice. I'm sorry, but that is not what she ordered. $14 for a draft beer and a "glass" of wine... Nuts. A party of 12 came in after us and we're sat before us. When we asked the hostess when we will be seated, she said "Oh we are clearing your table." Well we waited another twenty minutes. The hostess and manager couldn't have been less friendly if they tried. I ordered an eggplant parm sub which came out before our pizza (I was done with my dinner by the time the pizza came). The eggplant was so over cooked I couldn't rip it and all I could taste was breading. The only good part about the evening was our server was pleasant and the pizza was great. read more

The restaurant is real Classic Italian; it was super busy when we arrived. Because we waited for so long to get a table, they gave us a appetizer "on the house." Two pieces of bread with a bunch of beans slopped on them?.....no thank you. The shrimp and clams on the half shell were tasty and fresh. Although, the presentation was god awful (throw some ice in a bowl then throw the seafood in the bowl..um...oh well I ate it always). Homemade raviolis and meatballs with the house sauce. The dish was pretty solid; the meatballs were fabulous! My boyfriend got the manicotti with sausage and man, homemade sausage can't be beat. Never again will I branch out from our usual NEPA pizza favorites!!! We decided to try Arcaro's after seeing all the hype and telling ourselves that it must be delicious if they've been in business for so many years. We called in our order - 1 tray of "red" (that's just cheese) and 1 tray of pepperoni. It's $15 a tray. We also ordered a caesar salad, which was large enough to share. The dressing was also so creamy and delicious. When we arrived, we parked outside and watched as a stream of people left with takeout pizza boxes. It was Friday night- the Friday after Thanksgiving, and they were packed! We ordered 20 minutes before we left, and it took us 15 minutes to get there, and the food still wasn't ready. So be prepared to order before you get too hungry. The pizza itself was a huge disappointment... The good parts: Really thick, really fluffy, crunchy crust, a lot of pizza for your money. The bad parts: The sauce was really mediocre and reminded me of tomato sauce out of a can. There really was no personality and my boyfriend insisted that he got a slice that tasted like onions! Not good! Onions have no place on any pizza!!! The cheese was also really gooey and at first I thought the pizza was undercooked because the cheese tasted like uncooked pizza dough. I was here for a rehearsal dinner in their banquet room. The appetizers were different types of Sicilian pizza, garlic bread. I loved the Sicilian pizza! The main meal options were chicken legs and breast, crunchy green beans (my favorite), talipia (my favorite), salad, eggplant paramsean, and rolls. I loved the taipa. By far my favorite! The green beans were good too. I passed on the chicken because if I can see the bone- I get wigged out. For desert they did sherbet. I passed on that too- not my thing. I've been to Arcaro & Genell once before. It was amazing but I never thought I'd be back in Old Forge PA but a recent trip put us back in the area. We had to come again and now here we are! I really don't know what makes this pizza so good. I'm from Long Island and I KNOW good pizza so the first time I was really skeptical. The crust on the pizza is great, it's not too doughy and perfectly crisp. The toppings on the pizza are generous, we got sausage, mushroom and extra cheese and onion. It was spectacular. The first time we went it was later in the evening and you definitely wait, especially on a weekend. This time we got there around 4 on a Friday and it got more crowded as the night progressed. The service is okay. We've never had a problem with waiting for food too long. We also had some dessert. I got the molten chocolate brownie, and he got the cannoli. The cannoli was giant, and overfilling with cannoli filling. I wish I had gotten that because it really tasted fresh and homemade. The chocolate brownie was decadent but wasn't as fresh. I really think everyone should try Old Forge pizza even if you're skeptical! I'll certainly be back if I'm in the area again! read more

Very disappointed with the service tonight. I am v understanding of a waitress being busy, but rude is another thing. I didnt get my salad- when the bill came my husband said can you take the salad off bc we didn't get it. She looked at us and said very rudely "you should of told me, we are busy" grabbed the check and crumbled it up on o ur table and turned away. Also we wouldn't have gotten our take out pizza (that was also on the bill) if we didnt ask for it. I honestly get better service at a gas station. read more

This was my first experience with Old Forge style pizza that this area is known for and I am happy to say that Arcaro and Genell pizza met my expectation as to what Old Forge pizza should taste like. It was very light and the sauce was very tasty. Although I am fan of NY style pizza, this restaurants Old Forge pizza was a nice change. The restaurant was very busy when we arrive and we waited about 30 minutes for a table. There is magician that that walks around and entertains you while you wait. read more
