Great experience with Archibald Plumbing! Our hybrid hot water heater stopped working properly. It's under warranty so we started with the manufacturer (AO Smith), and Archibald was one of 3 plumbers in the San Diego area that was recommended. My husband saw their ratings and chose them. Surprisingly, they came out the same day (we didn't expect that). Ryan gave us advice about how to keep the heater functioning in electric-only mode (and that it defaults to hybrid every couple of days). Awesome experience from start to finish. I had a bad 75 gallons water heater and wanted to replace it. Called a few plumbers for a quote with pictures of the old heater and all of them wanted top come by to look at it. Michael responded within minutes and gave a quote with a reasonable range. We had a crack on our main water line at the the end of of our backflow at the 90°brass elbow and the schedule 40 reducer to the main line. We contacted Archibald Plumbing and immediately received text messages from Michael the owner requesting to see pictures. Once Michael received the pictures he called me to discuss our options. Due to the weather (rain) and the holiday Michael was not able to come out until the following day. When Michael arrived he immediately reevaluated the situation and made additional recommendations. Michael went straight to work and quickly repaired the pipe using schedule 80 PVC and extending the length of the brass fitting for a smoother transition. Dismissive attitude and lack of respect for my property - I'm very frustrated with the attitude of the guy. When I went out and saw they had allowed water to run under my golf bad and quite a bit of other stuff, I said, " Oh Man! Why didn't you guys say something to me? I could have put a towel down between your work area and my stuff & this wouldn't have happened." I was upset, but checked myself and figured I'd said all that was necessary, because it had already happened. Instead, I said, "look in the future, you guys really should consider communicating with the customer and giving them the opportunity to avoid this happening. A single towel would have avoided this." Instead of acknowledging anything, he starts telling me "there is water in the sides of the tank".. like I'm dumb and cant understand a tank has to be drained... Which it appears they did not do... No wet spots at all outside of my home where they drained anything... and he tells the other guy I'm upset because the floor got wet! at this point I lost it, and was explicit as to what I was upset about and that I could care less about the floor! ... I expected the floor to get wet, but I did not expect them to allow water to drain soaking my compressor box, my golf bag and other items when a towel that was provided could have avoided it. It seems the attitude and respect is either 1. because I rent, or 2. this is how they treat all of their customers. I assume because my property management company will pay them, they figure I'm not important in the equation. Well this is bad business, its not just about the work you perform.. its about customer service and leaving things as they were before you came verses damaging things. In my case, it would have been an easy for them to avoid the issue if they had cared to. Now I will have Hours of work to assure things are dried properly to avoid mold and that family photos stored won't stick together when they dry and be ruined.. Two towels, would have avoided any of this and one would have protected the majority. read more

Mike saved our bacon, last minute, on a Saturday no less! We were having a new refrigerator installed from Best Buy and the technician said we needed to call a plumber. Why? Well, he claimed the water bob wasn't working and the problem must be from inside the wall because, even though the water to the house was shut off, he said water kept spraying out. So, I text Mike from Archibald plumbing with an SOS! He was there within 15 minutes!! Of course, the technician had already taken off. Was there an actual problem? No! The technician just hadn't turned the valve off all the way. That's right...the Best Buy installer left my old fridge in my living room and didn't install my new one because he failed to turn a valve off all the way so he could unhook the water line from the wall! Unreal. Thankfully, Mike got everything hooked up for us, gave us some pointers on what to look for and monitor with a new fridge, and didn't even charge us his usual Saturday fee because it ended up being such an easy fix. Since I was still under parts only warranty, I waited until Mon and called A O Smith who gave 3 SD County companies that were authorized to do warranty work. It is without hesitation that I write a review for Archibald plumbing. While out of the country I found out that my water heated quit working. On flight back I began looking at YELP reviews for a plumber to replace my water heater. Although there are several with good reviews I chose Archibald for three reasons. First was their prompt response to my text, second was that I was quoted a very fair reasonable set price with no potential add-ons, and third they were able to schedule me on the day I returned. Needless to say they achieved all my expectations. They communicated with me regarding time of arrival, did job with no added costs, and finished the job on day started. I was referred to Michael as a water heater specialist from my goto plumbers. I was having trouble starting our water heater and then it was going out after a moderate period of time. Michael came out quickly and got it started, replacing the thermal couple kept it running. My water heater failed and was leaking all over my garage. This unfortunately happened on a Saturday evening. I called Archibald plumbing and spoke with Mike Archibald who explained to me that he could come over first thing Monday morning and replace the water heater but in the mean time he explained to me how my family and I could still use the shower when needed and how to stop the leaking in between using the shower and running the laundry until he could replace it which helped a great deal since we are a family of five. That Monday morning Mike showed up with a new water heater and all the parts to replace it.
