The food is great. I've been going there since I was 18 and I'm 65 now the owners are awesome.

I was shocked at how terrible it was. The steak tasted pasty and the shrimp was just awful. I spit it out. Mushrooms were ordered on the side and I had to look at them and see what I just put in my mouth. They did not taste like any mushroom that I have ever eaten. So my meal consisted of 2 pieces of toast that were really good. Even the French dressing didn't taste the same as it did before. And the choices of what to put on the iceberg lettuce were something to be desired. That will be the last time I eat there. Quality has gone way down hill. Must be using a cheaper grade of everything. Ari must have sold out. I and my family have eaten there most of our lives. I used to take my kids there too, for years. read more

I love this place that's why I ordered for Father's Day . Door dash was the only option for delivery. Big mistake. I put in my order for 2 pork chop dinners. At the restaurant they are priced for 17.99 for 2 6 oz chops potato, toast and salad. I ended up paying separately for toast, and salad. my bill was over 63.00. When I received my meals they were cold. The chops were dried out and burnt. Could hardly cut them. I called door dash to voice my concern. They said I had to call steak house. I did. Irene remembers the meals. She said to come in . Steak house said take it up with door dash and I in turn said door dash told me to contact you. . I did the next day as I had to work all day. I had requested a call from supervisor of door dash never got one. I could not upload photos as photos froze as they asked for. Long story short do not use door dash for delivery. This is the best steak house in the town! My ex and I used to go there alllll the time! Definitely suggest you to order their gyro!!! Their most meals comes with baked potatoes and Texas toast bread. We have been going to Arie's Best Steak House for about 20 years or so. If they ever move, then we follow them to their new location, wherever they move to. We have ALWAYS had GREAT FOOD; GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE & THEY HAVE BECOME GREAT FRIENDS AS WELL. We have never had a complaint about the Location, The Employee's, The Food & if you have to stand in line for a few minutes or so, it is Totally worth the wait. I ordered the 14oz chopped steak or something if the sort for $18 and when asked how I'd like it to be cooked I said medium. Well turns out the cook like to just send everything out as rare as possible. Definitely could only eat a bit into the steak from the side as the middle was completely too rare and there wasn't anyone around to say anything to about it. While the prices have gone up- where hasn't it- the food is still great! I like the set up in this restaurant. You order and pay when you walk in, walk past the cook and helpers while you choose your salad, then stroll over to your private booth! They bring your plates of Texas toast, potato and meat and sea food. You can also get it to go so you can enjoy your favorite beer or wine with your meal. Delicious- I had the steak, shrimp and lobster tail. The steak was perfectly medium rare, the shrimp were large and crunchy and the lobster tail was not rubbery at all. Ari's Best Steakhouse is a family style, no frills, restaurants. If you're looking for a steak meal that doesn't break the bank then look no further. The price is definitely comparable to buying a steak at Walmart and cooking it with sides. This is not your typical sit down and order restaurant. To order, look at the menu on the wall (you won't miss it). Once you know what you want, walk up to window and tell them what cut you want and how well you want it cooked. Pay attention to what you ordered. Some specials come with pie/cake, while others don't. You don't want to be that person who walks backwards in the line. Grab a serving tray and your utensils and move down the line. If your meal comes with a salad, tell them what you want in your salad. After your food is cooked and you picked up all of your items, the register is at the end of the line. Every other seat is roped off. It may not seem like there's many seats, but I've never had a problem finding a seat here. The steak I ordered was the 20 oz Porterhouse. It comes with a salad, baked potatoes, three fired shrimp and a drink. The steak was cooked to a nice medium rare. The salad is pretty basic, what you would expect at a high school. The baked potato is a decent size, nice and fluffy. The fried shrimp tasted exactly how it looks. For the price, you really won't get a better deal than this. read more

This is a great no-frills place to get steak. Prices are super reasonable and food is plenty filling. You order at the counter, grab a tray and utensils and proceed through the line where you can see your steak cooking on the grill behind the counter as you pick up dessert and drinks, build your salad, and then pay at the end of the line. If your order is almost done, they'll have you wait a min after paying so that you can take your food to your table - if not, they'll bring it out to you at your table. Pro-Tip: get some extra cheese and bacon bits from the salad bar to put on your baked potato! 14oz Bone-In Sirloin (5/5) - The steak was really good, perfectly cooked and super juicy - it didn't have much seasoning on it (some steak places have too much which makes it too salty), so was great to taste the natural flavors of the steak. Been coming here since I was a lil kid. Tried after the reopen and food was excellent and quick... Now I took my mother to dinner here on 8-18-24 and whatever has changed because we waited very long time for our meals and the steak was so tough it was difficult to slice and chew !! In the past there's always been a lot of people and that's definitely has changed too !! Best Steak Houses used to be all over the Twin Cities, or at least places like this with the same name. This one has been around for 40 years. When I started going to them, you could get a complete steak dinner, meaning steak, baked potato, salad and texas toast, for between $2 - $4. Today the range is more like $6- $12 on average, with some up charges and add-ons available. I was in the mood for "chopped steak," simply because you don't see it on menus very often. (And after all, the name of the site isn't "Steak, Dogs, & Pizza!") You wait in a line up front and tell the grill man your order, there is no discussion of "doneness" or anything. Move on down the cafeteria style line, pick up your tray, silver, and make a salad from the selection of fixins, which are not in abundance or up market. (Genuine face bacos!) But hey, this is value dining! While the menu says each dinner comes with a potato, it means "baked potato" and there is a 99 cent up charge for fries, but why the hell not? They are fresh cut, cooked to order for each diner, and plopped on the plenty in quantity. Perhaps a pound? I made my salad, paid, and you're told to wait at the register for your order, it will be right up, and it is. One mystery to me was that some people got two slices of Texas toast, and others got one. Didn't seem to coincide with any menu selection or price. I think I figured out it had to do with your politeness in line (I'm not kidding, some of the people are just damned nasty to grill guy). So anyway, I got two pieces, and if you've read this blog at all, you know I'm all about the Texas toast! The meat was great, flavoful, and a host of condiments, steak sauces are on the table. I couldn't finish the fries, but I'd be damned if I was leaving them behind! Seriously, some of the best fries I've had in a long time! Best Steak House is kind of north and east of downtown St. Paul, open for lunch and dinner seven days, and you can get the whole dinner at lunch time for less than $6.00. You should check them out. I had a hankering for a year-o, it's Friday, and I drank too much wine last night, so I thought I'll go ahead and indulge myself. I found this place on yelp of course, might be called "The Best Steakhouse," but they have a gyro sandwich and plate on the menu so off I went. It's in a sketchy strip mall filled with people who can't drive. No one seems to look when they pull in or back out of spots. Be careful not to get hit by a car...or go ahead get hit by a car then sue the bastard. I walked in and could see clearly this place has not been updated ever. There's a big ass board on the wall with the menu. Prices had been scratched off and replaced by stickers of new prices. I don't know what I'm doing at this point. I don't see a line. I see people at what looks like a salad bar, and then the cook behind the salad bar...oooo dawns on me its cafeteria style. I go up and I just stare. The cook, very friendly guy, asks me what I want to order. I go with the gyro sandwich for $9.25. It comes with nothing so I add a side of fries because I've made up my mind that I'm pigging out. People are moving around me to get to the tiny salad bar, then there's people piling up behind me shouting their orders in. We all just wait there until the food comes up. I take my order to go. $11.25 after the side was added, and $.25 for an extra cucumber sauce. Steep for a gyro sandwich in my opinion. I hurry out, dodged all the bad drivers, and sit and smell the delicious meat all the way home. The fries were awful. They were not cooked thoroughly, and they were soggy. The gyro sandwich was pretty good. I want to order it again, but I most likely won't because I can't afford it, and I do not want to go back and deal with the chaos. read more

I have fond memories of growing up in the Old Rondo/Frogtown neighborhood and once in a while eating with the family at Best Steak House. I don't know whether or not those are still around, but this place is much the same, and nostalgia probably adds to the fact that the food is satisfying in the same way. This was a hidden gem and a family friendly one at that owned and operated by a great man with a passion to serve the highest quality food to normal people at prices they could afford. Sadly, it burned down recently but the owner has not lost his passion and I'm confident he'll return better than before, if that's even possible. The owner is a Greek gentleman and a gentle, kind and considerate man at that who cares about his customers. I can't say I've met many restaurant owners or many people period that I would say the same about...he's just a good person that deserves for us to help him return sooner than later.
