Fried green tomatoes, scallops and long rib. All delicious
    Camille L.

We dined here for our five year wedding anniversary and the food was amazing. Then we came back recently and THE BEEF LONG RIB that we usually order tasted dry and odd. We've ordered this many times and it's always been good so thought it was a safe choice but that was not the case recently. If we dine here again we would try something else. They also no longer sell the fried green tomatoes which is a huge bummer. The best part of the meal recently was actually their sausage. The service was decent and the waitress proactively split our bill based on our parties (we were on a double date). Overall we're willing to give this place another try but unfortunately not our first choice anymore.

Bone marrow off the menu special

After a short flight to Minneapolis and a good walk around the city, we decided we needed to grab some dinner. On our hunt for a restaurant, we smelled some amazing bbq and started our mission to locate where the smell was emanating from--spoiler: it was The Butcher's Tale. Once we took a brief glance at the menu, we agreed this would be our dining location for our first night in Minneapolis, and boy was it the best decision we made! We were seated right away even though it was a Friday night and were greeted pretty quickly by our waitress, who was very helpful. She even told us about some off menu items, so when we found out the bone marrow was only like $27, we immediately put our order in. I kid you not, we both tried our best to refrain from melting into the booth because it was that delicious and melt in your mouth! Ugh, I think we both still daydream about that dish to this day lol. We also got a potato dish and a squash bisque, both of which were delicious. I'm sure their desserts are just as scrumptious, but we were so full we had to decline. This was by far our favorite restaurant during our trip and I'd travel back just to eat here again. BRB, gonna dream about the bone marrow in my sleep now...

The food and service are phenomenal every time. The beef long rib is what we keep coming back for and every time it blows our mind. Easily can feed 2 and then some. The side and app we got were also good but the real stars of the show were the rib and amazing service we received!

Super great experience at Butcher's Tale. Had the sausage sampler - yum - and also oysters both raw and baked. Both so good. Had the beef long rib which was tender and delicious with some amazing molasses-y sauce. Sides were amazing and service was top notch. Even had a nice seat by the open fire grill. Really excellent spot.

This place has always popped up a bunch of times for me in my food searches and last night was the night that it finally made sense. Me and my best friend were looking for a place to grab a quick, but yummy bite to eat before we went to Lumenescience at the Basilica.. a quick 9 minute walk from that area by the way.. and a lovely walk too! We arrived and greeted by a kind hostess, who asked us if we wanted a table or a booth, of course, we opted for a booth, amazing! Then, our waiter, Charlie arrived... a breath of fresh air in the world of serving, a conversational, but a perfect balance of not too conversational, gave good advice especially when my friend came to ordering a drink. He was amazing. He was also a bartender but did well balancing the two acts and made sure we were taken care of. I am gluten-free and he ensured everything was gluten-free and even had them serve gluten free crackers for the charcuterie. We ordered the charcuterie board, the sausage flight, broccoli, and carrots. Oh my goodness. Everything came out at the same time, in this case, that was totally fine since a lot of it was more bites. The sausages were incredible, they were cooked to perfection, with a nice little snap to them. There was one "the french onion" sausage, which had some fondue on it.. my goodness! There was another with cheddar cheese inside served on top of some divine purple cabbage.. give me a bowl of that please! Delicious, done to perfection... tons of flavor. The broccoli was also nice and crispy, not too oily, good flavor, a little spice as well. The carrots were sweeter, served with a savory creamy sauce that really brought it together, amazing as well. The charcuterie was also delectable, a perfect balance of meats, cheeses, crackers, mustard, and pickles that just made it a perfect munching plate. The food was amazing and will definitely come back here to try more! The ambiance is great too in here. It smells amazing as they have open flame in the kitchen and it gives an old school vibe and feel. There is a nice outdoor area too with a fire. Will definitely be back, thank you Charlie!!

This is one of those moments where I really wish half-stars were an option. I'd round up if I could, but ultimately, I just can't give it 4 stars -- and here's why: The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a great vibe. But it's loud. It was honestly hard to hear the people at my table, so the acoustics definitely need some work. The service was solid. Our server was attentive, and the food came out quickly. No complaints there; it's what you'd expect from a place like this. Now, onto the food: it's just okay. The menu looks great and everything is nicely presented, but the flavor doesn't quite live up to the expectations, especially for the price. Compared to other steakhouses or restaurants in this tier, I know I've had better meals elsewhere.

A beautiful and intimate setting, this place was the perfect spot for a date. The sides were delicious along with the steak. My partner loved his cut and so did I but unfortunately mine was pretty rare despite asking for medium. I know most steak lovers would love this, it just wasn't right for me!

Okay... so this is not butcher and the boar. This place moved a minute down the road. Slightly different menus. We had reservations for 5pm on a Saturday, that's when they open. For a classier restaurant, we were unfortunately packed in pretty close to the other tables. I hateeee when places do this. It's rustic vibes but very noisy inside. We started with some tasty drinks. Didn't start with any starters because nothing really stood out. We got our entrees and a few shareable sides. Holy pork chop!!! This piece of meat is huge and presented beautifully. It looks amazing but man it really didn't taste that way. The three different toppings drowning the pork just didn't work for me. The goat cheese was over pungent and added an odd flavor. I was hoping for more sweetness from the blueberry chutney and sherry maple vinaigrette. The pork chop tasted burnt on the outside. It just wasn't it. Our friend's scallops were really tasty! The steaks were fairly decent but PS Steak is better. Two shareable sides were the perfect amount for four people. Wasn't super impressed with the lemony asparagus. Service was friendly without issues. There is valet parking otherwise plenty of street parking. I don't really see the hype about this place.

Went to The Butcher's Tale for NYE dinner with my hubby and it was delicious! Our waitress was great! Kept up with us and we never had to wait long for anything. It was of course loud as people were getting ready to celebrate a new year, yet somehow our table still felt cozy and like we had privacy which was great. DEFINITELY recommend the banana foster French toast!! I

    Is this kid friendly?

This place feels more like a business dinner or a date night destination. I was there 5:30 on a Wednesday and there were no kids. The staff are amazing, so I'd recommend calling and asking them if they can accommodate!

    Do they have parking?

Valet is $15. There is also some limited street metered parking around the area but based on the number of carjackings lately around the city, I would probably pay the Valet charge unless you find a meter that is very close especially if you are…

Do you need a reservation for the bar?

    Nope!

Take a long moment to allow your eyes to adjust if you're coming before sunset; this space is DARK. It's also perfect. Once your "night vision" kicks in you're surrounded by a nice bar, numerous bistro-style tables and booths. Candles adorn the tables creating a nice, cozy place to settle in for drinks. Once seated in comfortable chairs at a table, we were quickly greeted and provided with menus. The cocktail selection is relatively "small" but really nicely varied. Prices seemed a tad steep but frankly, given the quality of the drinks I'd say quite worth it. I started out with the Evita, a nice flavorful gin-base cocktail topped with a nice egg white foam. Very tasty. My wife opted for the Tapaculo, with gin, mezcal, pineapple, banana and bitters over ice. Also quite good. There are also bites available from the associated restaurant I can't recall the name of mine but I can say it was delicious. Bread-like bites with a really tasty dipping sauce. To close out the visit I selected Palo, a smoked aged rum cocktail that was really nice and rich. My wife chose the Nahualito with rum, walnut, amontillado and white chocolate. All should be on your radar. Flora Room really fit the bill for a nice, intimate speakeasy-style spot to spend time. Dark and cozy. Savory cocktails and friendly service will stand out and make you want to return. I know we'll seek it out if we return to Minneapolis again. I hope so.

Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

Nothing in the reservation said that it was a limited slot and the fact that even the waitress was unaware that we were going to have to leave to table literally after our dinner was brought to us speaks to the lack of business management or understanding of this establishment. She made a couple unique drinks, including one off the menu called airmail, which was a version of a French 75. It was a great night all around, and I hope to make it back again while I'm in town.
