The staff here are always so polite and very kind and accommodating, which I appreciate first and foremost. I would say the atmosphere is friendly as well. The food here is decently good, but I need to try a few more dishes. In the image I shared, I asked for a dish that they don't have yakisoba with chicken, which was cool that they accepted my request for a custom dish! Admittedly, it wasn't the best tasting, but I put that more on me than them. Overall, it was a good experience and I would definitely go back :)

Tonkatsu Lunch Platter

Went for lunch and had the tonkatsu meal with an appetizer of karaage. The karaage was juicy but I prefer more seasoning while the tonkatsu was juicy with good flavor aswell. Service was good as they would come over frequently to refill tea and check up on me. Good expierience overall

I read about the quick eats that is available during the weekend outside of this Japanese restaurant. Note: the restaurant is open for dine-in and takeout though I was going for a snack. The 3 items: Japanese savory pancake (also called Okonomiyaki) for $6, Pan-fried noodles for $4 (Yaki-soba), and yakitori for $2. I have been wanting a Okonomiyaki. They made it fresh on a outdoor flat top grill. Forgot to take a picture while it was being cooked. The outside is crispy (loved the crispiness) and typed with various topping. For $6, it's totally worth it as a snack. I couldn't finish this in one setting. Great place to swing by for a snack. Enjoy.

Dragon roll

I'm sorry but this needs to be said. The food here has declined so much the past couple of years. The freshness and quality, isn't what it used to be. I came for lunch with my boyfriend and the bill came out to $99 after only ordering a few sushi rolls and salmon sashimi. The dragon roll is almost 14$ but there was literally no eel, I'll post the picture below but this is not acceptable. It's laughable and quite honestly kind of scammy. I hope they make some changes because there are other Japanese restaurants in sunnyside that offer better quality and quantity for your buck!

I haven't been to this Japanese restaurant since 2018. The service and food were both on par. However, I was a bit disappointed that the check-in offer wouldn't be honored. They should just take it off of yelp. Also, when we asked for the check, they tacked on more the the bill. I always take a look at my bill now and glad that I did. They put that I ordered more than I did and asked them to take if off. After taking if off the bill, it was so much less. I really hope it wasn't on purpose and an accident or that would be really deceitful!

This is my local sushi spot and I go here several times a month. The sushi is always fresh but the fried food is a little burn most of the time.

Food was good, service was good too, I got a BIIIIG portion which I was not expecting but nonetheless it was still good, busy place but for good reason, 9/10 recommend

I was super excited to order from this place, as it's really close to home, so convenient, right? I ordered the shoyu ramen without the pork - I understand the price is still the same, that's fine. I asked instead if they could just make it spicy, they said fine. The total was $14.70. Cool. Now the girl tells me they have a min of $15. I told her, it's fine. I don't want to order anything else, just charge me an even 15. Tell me how they ended up charging me OVER $15 ... when the order was less to begin with? I also even was giving them the difference and they had the nerve. BEYOND disappointed. Off to the WORST start. The order arrived and the only good thing I can say is, it was warm. The presentation was awful. The noodles were crammed into a styrofoam container with the toppings, which was barely able to fit that and the broth was in a large plastic container. What if I wasn't home? How was I supposed to mix the two? There was nowhere to combine the ingredients at all. I asked for spicy when I requested no pork and the girl said no problem and because I'll pay the extra to meet the minimum she'd include extra peppers. There was no spice added to the broth as requested at all. Everything aside from the broth was also quite raw. Can't say I'd recommend. I try to order from local businesses directly. Now I wish I'd ordered from an app and could get some sort of credit.

I went here recently , it has been 7month. That day was little chilly and I wanted to get some warm soup. I picked Nabeyaki Udon and it was a perfect choice. There has artificial crab fry, egg, boiled chicken, and yum, and lettuce with Udon noodle. Don't forget to add Shichimi! It makes more delicious.

The wait was around 30 minutes for 4 on at 1:30p on a Sunday. By the time our meal ended, there were several empty tables. Service (4/5): Timing of the dishes was not in sync with the table (not that that bad, just noticeable). Ordering wasn't as smooth as we hoped but all in all corrected (order was wrong but was corrected when we were asked to re-confirm the order). By the time we sat, the food was out within 20 min and then the pancakes came out another 20 min after the first dish. Food (5/5): The food was outstanding! Seriously like everything from the pancakes, ramen, to the lemonade. Lunch special of Tan Tan ramen (special May 2026) and Pork Cha-Shu Bowl. Tan Tan was spectacular and was def better than the bowl. The broth had so much flavor with richness, spice, spicy level, half seasoned egg. The noodles were also a lovely bouncy chew. The pork was pretty standard with about 5 thin slices spread over a soy sauce based sauce. Omurice was very silky. The egg was nice and runny. I liked that the sauce wasn't too ketchup-flavor forward. I enjoyed the rice which had bits of meat which gave it more flavor too. Crème Anglaise Souffle Pancake - my only wish was that there was more of it because it was so good. The cream that was on top was not too heavy and the zest flavors blended surprisingly well. It comes with a little side of fresh fruit. The cake was not overly egg-y in flavor either. Lavender Lemonade - Not too tart and not too sweet. I liked the forward lavender taste.

The soufflé pancake was very airy but so so small and i wish they added more fruits to it . The drink I got was lychee and it wasn't what i expected which was disappointing . Food is a bit pricey after tax and tip. Service the staff was very nice but literally went to us way too fast before we can even make up our minds . If we r just sitting and chatting they will come up and try to take our bowls away when there is still food left . wish they can be more mindful with that. But other than that it was fine and food was decent

The squid, beef and scallops were very tasty. The veggies tempura were freshly fried and delicious. Could have been drained a little better. Salmon crispy rice was a hit but the star of the show was the sushi and sashimi deluxe and the blue Toro roll. Amazingly fresh. The passion toro was a little too sweet and fishy for us and had no passion fruit taste. Service here is amazing. I visited Dashi Okume when I spent the day in Greenpoint last weekend. Dashi Okume dates back to…read more1871 in Japan (it was originally established as a seafood wholesaler), but this shop in Greenpoint makes quality Japanese products, especially dashi, more accessible than ever. Dashi Okume sells ... you guessed it ... dashi. They sell several kinds, and you can taste all of them there in the shop before deciding which to take home with you (I tried them all and went home with one bag of vegetable dashi and one bag of sweet shellfish dashi). They also make custom-made dashi. You can choose from around 30 ingredients - dried fish, seaweed, mushrooms, and vegetables. They grind it up and put into individual bags for you. Such a fun idea, but I thought I should try some of their pre-made dashi options before creating mine own. They also sell miso, rice, noodles, rice seasoning, seaweed, tea, and other items. I picked up some Japanese mustard, seaweed, and rice seasoning to take home with my dashi. Beyond being a great shop, they also have a cafe area where they offer a teishoku set meal - you pick your fish, which comes with tea, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sides. They also offer an omakase popup. The shop is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I'll certainly return for more shopping but next time I plan to make a meal of it and try their teishoku set.

Simple and satisfying on the food front, for the 2 of us, the cost was about $110. So not a cheap meal, but good food. The vibe though was a little different from what I was expecting. I went in thinking restaurant and what I got was more of a market atmosphere. While you are eating, people are walking around shopping and browsing, and there are products displayed and sold throughout the space. Not exactly my ideal setting for a sit down meal, but it works well enough for a casual weekend afternoon stop. One of the highlights beyond the food were the soup broths and dried flake samples they had available to try at Dashi Okume. We worked our way through most of them and they were genuinely delicious. My wife liked them enough to buy one to use as a miso soup base at home, which says a lot. They also carry items for cats, which was a fun little surprise. As for the place itself, Dashi Okume is located on Norman Avenue and operates as a collective, meaning it is not one single business but rather a shared space where multiple different vendors and businesses come together under one roof. That explains the market within a restaurant feeling. Overall Dashi Okume is a worthwhile stop, especially if you enjoy exploring and sampling along the way. Just go in knowing it is more of a hybrid experience than a traditional sit down meal.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 6 Overall: 6 I have to preface that, if I had reviewed Hibino in the past, they likely would have received 4 stars. Unfortunately, my latest experience was such a letdown that I have to average that into this review. My usual order here over 10+ years has always been their Kaisen Don, which had some of the better quality sushi rice available in Queens. If you don't think sushi rice is important, then skip my review. If you do, then know that my preference is slight warm rice that does not clump together, with a nice touch of vinegar. Hibino seems to get this part right regularly, but not this past Sunday. It was cold, clumpy, and super light on seasoning. Furthermore, as soon as the bowl arrived, I was a bit skeptical since it's not the usual square box filled with premium goodies. Instead, it was a smaller round bowl with relatively common pieces of sashimi. In the past, there were toro, ikura, uni and scallop, but none were present on Sunday. The only premium pieces I received was the spotted prawn. The rest were salmon, yellowtail, bluefin tuna, sea bass, and arctic char. More importantly, some of the sashimi pieces were somewhat mushy and slightly fishy, not the best quality. On the other hand, we also ordered their Chirashi, which had seared toro, yellowfin tuna, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, shrimp, and flying fish roe. Between the proteins and rice is a layer of shredder egg. Sadly, rice was still cold and lacked flavor, but the egg did help a bit. Though I prefer the thin slices of sashimi in the Kaisen Don over the chunky pieces of fish in the Chirashi, I did prefer the latter on that day. Bottom line, I will give them another chance, but the downgrade on the quality of rice and premium seafood in the Kaisen Don was a major disappointment. Praying my next visit restores my faith in the restaurant.
