I had a disappointing experience during my massage appointment. Given the high star rating, I expected a much more professional environment. 1. The masseuse's phone notifications were on loud during the session -- I heard several dings right by my head, which was distracting and surprising. It's unclear why her phone wasn't silenced after the third or fourth interruption. 2. At one point, I only felt one hand on me and then immediately heard another ding, so I suspect she was texting during the massage, which felt very unprofessional. 3. She initially stepped out of the room pretty early into the session without saying anything, and it wasnt to get a hot towel because I had no oil or anything on me yet, and I had no idea where she had gone. When she returned, I asked where she went, and she casually said, "Oh, we're so busy today," which made me feel like my time and appointment weren't being prioritized and went to help other customers who were walking in because I constantly heard the chime from the entrance. 4. Then later she stepped out to get a hot towel, which she did inform me about -- I guess because I asked her the first time. However, she then left the room a 3rd time. And it wasn't for a towel bc she'd already done that. 5. Something else that made me uncomfortable: she asked to pay before the service, which felt unusual. Later, I noticed in other reviews that some clients paid afterward. I'm not trying to play the race card, but as a person of color, it felt discriminatory and left me wondering if I was being treated differently. It's disheartening to feel that way in a setting that's supposed to help you relax and feel cared for. After the masseuse left the room a third time to assist other clients, I decided to end the session early and got off the table. Something I had never done before in my life. I requested a partial refund, and the masseuse called the owner and explained the situation, then she passed me the phone so I could speak with him. He initially tried to explain that stepping out for a hot towel was standard, but I clarified that she had left two additional times to help up front and appeared to be texting during the session as well. In hindsight, I wish he had been upfront about being short-staffed when I spoke with him to book -- I would've appreciated the chance to look elsewhere. At first, he offered a discount on a future visit, but since I was only visiting the area, that wasn't helpful. After some back and forth, to his credit, he agreed to process a partial refund. They voided the original charge and she rang up a lower amount. But what truly shocked me was when he suggested I could leave a tip afterward -- as if the service warranted one. I was honestly taken aback by that. The masseuse herself was friendly, but overall, this experience did not meet my expectations for a relaxing or professional massage. yesterday I had a 60 min body massage with a 30 min body scrub from Hanna. It has to be the most relaxing massage yet! After the body massage which included scalp I felt so light and stress free after a long night with my special needs daughter. My favorite part was the scrub! I don't see pictures on Yelp of the table they use, but they cover your privates with two towels, omg the bed they lay you on feels amazing with running warm water on your body. As she applies the scrub she is also massaging which felt extra after my body massage. Everything was very clean, from the room, towels, a white robe and slippers because after the scrub you get in the shower even though she already rinsed you, but you get to wash your hair, shampoo provided (Pantene)! I am new at this and will make sure I treat myself more often. I did compare prices and this was very reasonable and very close to me. Hanna was amazing, super nice and I made her laugh so much because when she was rinsing my body I asked her if she felt like she was washing a whole chicken! read more

The place was completely empty yet when we asked for a massage, they gave us a dirty look and said they only took appointments but they would see who was available. When my friend grabbed one of the complimentary mints, the man working the front desk gave her a death glare. Very odd vibes. Then after no further explanation and ten minutes later, he confirmed he had two masseuses available. They asked for payment up front, which I thought was odd and unusual. While taking payment, both masseuses shot each other annoyed looks. It seemed like they did NOT want to service us and I do not know why. The actual foot massage was decent. Daisy was my masseuse and she did a wonderful job helping me with all the knots in my body. She was also very careful with my back area and told me that she won't use much force around my lower back because it could harm the baby. I even asked if she could apply more pressure but literally felt like the strength of a 7 year old would have been stronger than that. I had a feeling that it was due to paying the tip upfront which I did an extra $13 on the CC charge for 45 mins but I also had cash in hand so that I could actually tip based on performance. Amy, one of the owners, was particularly attentive, checking in on me to ensure my massage was going well and adjusting the pressure to my liking. For a 60-minute back and foot massage, the price was $60, which I found reasonable. They started the session in a private room, allowing me some privacy to undress to my underwear and lie down on the massage table. They covered me with a sheet and began with a soothing face, ear, and scalp massage. Then, they worked on my arms, hands, legs, and feet. I actually dozed off during the session, waking up when Amy asked me to turn over. She continued the massage on my back, thighs, calves, and buttocks. Throughout, she used her hands and elbows with just the right amount of pressure, constantly checking to ensure my comfort. The oil they used had a pleasant scent and wasn't overpowering. They even used warm towels to wipe me down afterwards, leaving me feeling refreshed. The only minor drawback was that the rooms were kept warm, which is a Chinese practice aimed at preserving your body's chi energy. It's not a matter of being cheap; it's simply their cultural approach. To show my appreciation, I left a $15 tip, as it is customary for the profits to be split between the owner and the masseuse, with the masseuse receiving a larger portion for their services. I believe they definitely deserve at least $45 for the excellent experience they provided. In conclusion, I highly recommend this place for a quick and affordable massage. So far I have visited this place 4 times. I used to go when it was owned by two others, the last one was New Energy Spa. Now it's called Ark Massage and hope they are here to stay. It's conveniently located near my home and near stores that I frequent, Ding Tea and The Perfect Beauty Bar, CVS and Marshall's. I can accomplish several things before or after my massage. The lady at front desk , Sophia, is very nice and speaks English. So you will have to explain what specifically you want done in your session so she can tell the massage therapist as they don't speak English. I may have carpal tunnel so I was hesitant at first as I have not gotten official treatment and testing but I could not stand the stiffness and pain. The male i has today was excellent. His name is Franco. He was like a physical therapist where he did some good stretches to my neck (flexion forward) and black and groin stretch. I have a sit down job full time so I needed to be stretched. I asked for any Chinese pain ointment and they had it available. I paid a little extra but it's worth it. This is my weekend hangout for an hour to hour and a half every week so far and it makes a difference in my quality of life especially when I am constantly in pain in my arm and tense in my neck and shoulders from my job This is part of my carpal tunnel treatment plan ! I get massages weekly now and I also started acupuncture somewhere else. I will start physical and occupational therapy soon. As of 4/25/23 I was officially diagnosed with moderate carpal tunnel syndrome. Getting massages here is important to me for my sanity and stress. I can just call same day and still get an appointment. So convenient and affordable also One more thing. Hot stones are at no additional cost and really helps the massage when they tube the hot stones on my neck and area of tension.
