Aroi Mak Mak is an absolute GEM! If you're looking for an amazing Thai bar with incredible food, great drinks, and genuinely good people, YOU HAVE TO COME HERE. My girlfriend and I got the Laab Street Wraps, the Banana Island alcoholic slushie, and the 3-shot flight with Blood Moon, Ting Tong, and Green Dragon. Everything was The Laab Street Wraps were hands down the BEST laab I have ever had. I'm Thai, so I've had my fair share of laab, and this seriously blew me away. The flavor was on point, the seasoning was perfect, and every bite had me wanting more. Absolutely phenomenal. The Banana Island was also ridiculously good--super refreshing and dangerously easy to drink . For the shot flight, Blood Moon was my personal favorite, while my girlfriend loved Ting Tong. Green Dragon was also a great one to round out the flight. And I have to give a huge shoutout to the owner, who was incredibly nice and welcoming. You can tell this place is run with genuine passion and love for Thai food and the experience they're creating. Honestly, I can't recommend this place enough. Amazing food, creative drinks, great atmosphere, and even better people. Aroi Mak Mak is officially one of those places we'll be coming back to again and again. If you're even THINKING about coming here, just go. You will not regret it.
Birthday treat from son and daughter-in-law !! Welcoming staff ! Stellar service ! Decor of ceiling hanging lights and several hanging woven lampshades over the bar serving area gives that cozy warm fuzzy feeling of dining experience!! Food was great : MOO THAWT (FRIED PORK BELLY) Served with crispy White Pepper Marinated Pork Belly ,a small scoop of Sticky Rice & Garlic Fish Sauce dip!! 12 HOUR SLOW BRAISED PORK served with shredded Braised Pork, Mustard Greens, Cilantro, Scallions, and w/ a bowl of steamed white Rice MOO YANG (GRILLED PORK) served with slices of Marinated grilled pork , medallion sliced Pickled Daikon, and a scoop of Sticky Rice. PLA TUB TIM RAD KRATIAM (GARLIC FRIED FISH) Served with Whole fried Branzino ( head & tail included ) topped with Fried chopped Garlic, diced Scallions, and Cilantro, with a side of Steamed white Rice ! The GREEN THAI TEA topped with coconut whipped cream was very refreshing served with ice !! For dessert we had to have the Mango and Sticky Rice sprinkled on top with roasted toasted coconut flakes! The pandan custard were creamy and had mild taste of the pandan !! The bar counter had high chairs and for the ladies .... A hook under the counter for your purses!!!! There is a back room area for group seating of 5 or more !! Even a decorated tuk-tuk table setting gives that ambience of Thai culture!! Surely will come back and try the other dishes !!'
Waited just about 10min for a table of 4 on a Saturday night. Very cute space and decorated well. There's tables in the back and it feels very intimate. We went with vegan friends and there were plenty of options for us to choose from. Everything was delicious but I also wanna come back if I'm ever in the area to try the meat options!
Let me start by saying that the decor, aesthetic, and overall vibe inside are truly one of a kind. Everywhere you look, there's something vibrant and unique to take in, making the whole experience feel special. I ordered the shrimp Pad See Ew, and it was packed with flavor and came in a generous portion, which are two big things for me. I'd definitely recommend trying the Pad See Ew. The only downside for me has been the wait time for food. The first time I visited, my date and I actually had to leave because our food was taking a while and we had reservations for drinks elsewhere. When I asked for an update, they told us our order still hadn't gone in yet . This time, we stuck around, and while the food was worth it, the wait was still pretty long. Even with that, I'd definitely come back
I love this place! It is a local gem in Downtown Redlands. I've been here a few times and every experience has been pleasant. The restaurant has beautiful decor, even has a Tuk Tuk as a table! Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. I highly recommend the chicken wings and pork belly as appetizers and the pad thai with steak. I've tried a variety of their fried rice and love to share a bowl of tom kha soup with the table. I've also tried and enjoyed a few items from their cocktail menu, but enjoy filling up with food.
Very cute place. Nice íntimate ambiance. The food was really good. Loved the deep fried oyster mushrooms, crab fried rice, drunken noodles and Khao Soi (Curry Noodñe Soup). Yje porportions are large enough to share (split three ways). The service was amazing. Staff was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely return.
Pretty good Thai food for IE area. If you're from the area or familiar you should know there's limited tasty options worth trying. This place is worth trying. The cocktails were tasty and presentable. Food is a decent size and shareable. However, I must say they lack ingredients like for curry it was really watery and plain, it didn't have veggies like I would get from other restaurants, there were some chicken pieces and a few tiny bits of potato. The crab fried rice and beef pad see eww didn't have that much protein but it's alright since there's equal veggies mixed in. Chicken wings were good but I would pass on the egg rolls, it was gritty and dry in my opinion. Mango sticky rice is not bad, your typical dessert like other places. The wait for bigger parties can take some time on weekend or peak time since it's a small restaurant. There's a few bigger tables all the way in the back of the restaurant. 20% gratuity is required for parties of 5 or more.
I was planning to take my husband's out for Thai for his birthday and this place didn't disappoint everything we order was prepared perfectly & delicious I love how they put different type vegetables inside the Beef Pad See Ew which was my favorite part . The staff was friendly & helpful
You know it's good when you have no photos of the food. Visited here on a whim while traveling for work. Gabe at the bar was super nice when a table took a minute to come available but we were in no rush. I ordered the grilled pork and crab rice and have been back TWICE since, and ordered the same thing. Absolutely super delicious. I even went back to my hotel to pick up my leftovers for lunch when I forgot them- that's how good it is. Still wish they weren't out of egg rolls every time I go though!
First time at Aroi Mak Mak and WOW! I was honestly blown away by the flavors and the atmosphere. From the moment we walked in, Kop and the entire team made us feel so welcomed. This place is just different in the most positive way. I've had Thai food before at regular sit-down spots with little to no vibe, but the atmosphere here truly elevates the whole experience. It creates the perfect setting for the food. The Pad Thai, crab fried rice, chicken wings, and the Ka Pow were all incredible, but the sauces... seriously, the sauces deserve their own shout-out! Every dish just hit perfectly. The drinks were amazing too, the Kinnari was fruity, tasty, and just perfect. Overall, a solid 10/10. I'll definitely be coming back
Food : ordered the fried chicken, pad see ew, fried rice, mango and sticky rice No complaints it was all delicious!! Service : wonderful. Got seated right away on a Saturday for dinner. Server gave us water immediately. Another server took our order was very sweet young man, another server came around to clear our table as to help out and she was sweet too . Atmosphere : the decor is great and I love the string lights, all the plants and the bar shelving setup was nice! I loved the open window of kitchen concept. Side I moved here to redlands a few years ago and have yet to find food we actually enjoy let alone staff THIS WELCOMING! We will be coming back and can't wait to try more off the menu.
This. Place. Rocks. So. Super. Hard. The KHAO SOI (CURRY NOODLES)(V) OH MY GOR was so incredible and WOW the pickled veggies in it were truly so scrumptious! Easy parking, beautiful downtown, great company. One million metal tins of lime out of one million
There are restaurants you eat at... and then there's Aroi Mak Mak...a flavor pilgrimage. It's Thai street food wrapped up in vintage wallpaper, vinyl wrapped tables and Thai amazingness. My hubby and I go for our date nights, family meetups, pre-partying, or random bar hangs -- this is OUR spot! Pro Tip: Call dibs on the tuk-tuk table -- under those neon lights, it feels like Bangkok meets Redlands. Let's talk food because HOLY SHMAOW. The Deep Fried Mushrooms? Life-changing. Crispy, golden, and soooooo addictive -- we order them EVERYSINGLETIME. The Garlic Fried Fish (Pla Tub Tim Rad Kratiam) is seriously the BEST FRIED FISH in town -- a fried branzino with a tangy sauce and some garlic magic crack. The Thai Omelette (Kai Jiao), Chicken Wings, and Larb Street Wraps all bring that same OMG flavor. And the drinks -- oh my god OMG, OMGGG, the drinks. Just go ahead and order them all...thank me later. The Tom Kha Tonic has officially become my favorite thing to sip while scarfing down spicy food, and the Bing Bao Juice? Pure tropical happiness in a glass. But the real mic drop comes at dessert: the Coconut Pandan Custard -- subtle, coconut-y, and completely transcendent. Make sure you ask your server about these at the start of your meal since they run out quickly!
I have the luxury of coming to Redlands once a month and I refuse to leave until I've dined at Aroi Mak Mak. Let me be clear, this is the best Thai food I've ever had, and it may be my favorite restaurant in Southern California. The place is THAT good. Their drinks are refreshing and well balanced, the papaya salad is without peer, their noodle dishes are revelations and their curries are so flavorful that you can't imagine having curry anywhere else. I love the staff that is there: always friendly, and helpful. The owner is a prince of a man and the restaurant itself has a colorful, but subtle ambience. This is the place. Plan your trip around Aroi Mak Mak. read more

First time, great experience, wonderful ambience, friendly service and great food. Clean & fast service. Highly recommend. read more
The restaurant decor is nice, but don't come here expecting authentic Thai food. The portions are on the smaller side. The coconut curry felt like it was missing that slight sweetness, the pad thai had a slight ketchup taste. The food is passable and the service is good. If you want to go somewhere that looks trendy, this is good, but if you're looking for authentic Thai and generous portions, better off going somewhere else. read more
Aroi Mak Mak is located in downtown Redlands off Orange Street . Street parking is limited but there is a parking lot directly across the street. They have outdoor and indoor seating. (When you first walk in, it will appear that there is not much seating but if you just walk past the hallway there is a whole other seating area towards the back!) They are open daily 5-9 so this place makes for a unique date! They offer dinner, late night happy hour and a brunch menu with an emphasis on Thai street food. This place gets a 10 on decor - it is so colorful and fun, you will find yourself looking around to see all of the unique pieces in here. The eclectic wall paper was my personal favorite! We ordered the toad queen and golden triangle for our beverages and they did not disappoint ! Their drinks are fun and fresh. We then went with the larb street wraps and chicken wings. They put a lot of love into their food and it shows. Everything was delicious and we can't wait to come back to try more ! read more

Great vibrant, fun, late night place to go to to meet friends. They have happy hour on Friday night from 8pm and have a DJ. The service was friendly and made our dishes with the substitutions we asked for. We ordered the pad Thai with tofu, Thai omelette with pork, braised pork, and a curry. Our favorite is the braised pork and Thai omelette. We definitely want to return with friends and try the other dishes. Live that they stay open late on weekends. read more

Ambiance is A+ from the decor and lighting down to the drinks and food plating. Everything is really aesthetic while still giving you the fun, casual street food vibes. The place looks small but there's even more seating in the back (if you have a group get the tuk tuk table!) really fun menu, wish I got to try more. They have great cocktails (kinda strong too) and lots of food options - I noticed several vegan options too which was a nice surprise. I had the pad Thai with chicken, generous portions but I thought it was just ok. I will definitely be back though because there were several other dishes I wanted to try like pork belly, curry noodles, and crab fried rice! read more

The menu was limited when we came in for late dinner. We got an assortment of food to try. Everything was pretty good. The wings were surprisingly tiny but it had lots of flavors. The papaya salad was good a little salty. We enjoyed the curries the best. My husband's tummy usually acts up while eating curry but he didn't have any problem. We want to go back and try some other dishes on their menu. The boys got these drinks. They look fun. read more

Came here over the holiday season for a mom's night out. They were able to seat us right away. Decor was fun. The drinks were delicious and unique and the food (served family style) was also good. Staff was friendly and helped us with all our questions. Will definitely be back. read more
5 stars for ambiance 3 for service 3 for food 1 for how damn hot it was inside. The vibe inside is super cute, very fun! We were seated in the front dinning room and I have to say, it was uncomfortably hot... we weren't that far from the kitchen so idk if that's why, but it definitely kept us from wanting to stay for more drinks or dessert. The food was fine, Thai House is way way better. I feel like this place is thriving because the atmosphere, not the food. My veggies in my Pad King were undercooked and no one was overly impressed by their food in general. Service wise, we were neglect a couple of times, had to get the waitresses attention more than once. I think I would come back for drinks or to pregame for somewhere else but that's it's. read more

Came back for another visit! Once again pleased with the eclectic and colorful look of the place. I ordered the new panang curry noodles and (as seen in picture) it didn't have much, if any, curry. The noodles were also made al dente (firm) which would have been fine in there was enough curry in the bowl to continue "cooking/softening" them. I wasn't a huge fan. Alternatively, my friend got the red curry noodles and there was so much curry in her bowl ... and yes there were some feelings of curry jealousy involved lol. (The pictures themselves should explain exactly what I mean) We also shared the coconut pandan custard and it was DELICIOUS!! Will definitely return and order the red curry noodles for myself lol (Wait staff was super polite and made us feel welcomed.) read more

Great restaurant with super fun decor. The sa kaew spritz is reminiscent of a veggie garden with the bell pepper, strawberry, and basil. I loved it! My mom also enjoyed the phuket sunset slushy. We also ordered the shot flight. I will say, none of the drinks we ordered were of normal alcohol content. The shots were almost syrupy and very sweet. The deep fried oyster mushrooms were amazing! The batter is perfectly spiced and pairs nicely with the garlic aoli. The tom yum was a disappointment. It was sour like lemon sour and lacked a true lemongrass flavor. There was also too much fish sauce in to imo. However, the red curry with steak made up for it as it was hands down the best thai curry I have ever encountered. A perfect creamy, savory, spicy with hints of lime. The serving size was large enough for my mother and I to eat until we couldn't eat anymore and then have left overs. We also devoured the crab fried rice which had generous amounts of meat! Our server was really busy running back and forth due to the restaurant's front, middle, and back rooms, but he rocked it and the busser was kind. There was a female runner from the back that I asked for more sauce and she told me she wasn't my server and to tell him which I thought was rude. Like duh, lady, you're walking that way anyways. Just smile and tell me ok and then tell my server what I asked for. That's what good service is all about. I will definitely be returning because that curry is to die for. read more

Holy cannoli! This place is a Diamond in the sea of Roughness. Came with my family last minute and was seated in the Tuk Tuk table! Amazing service, delicious food. Had the shrimp pad Thai, family had Tom ka spicy, chicken wing appetizer and my nephew had the chicken burger. All were happy! My favorite was the shrimp omelet which you don't see on all the Thai menus. When I'm in town, we will be going again! read more

I don't even know where to start, I've been here a few times but never by myself. The staff were ALL amazing and super attentive. They were helpful throughout, great music as Friday nights is DJ night. Make sure to join me on those nights!!! Drinks are super strong. So strong I can't even tell you what I had to eat. I had some bomb curry noodle soup with chicken, an appetizer with pork (no batter) and more drinks. Def my go to favorite spot read more
Dear Craig, We tried a local Thai restaurant with a bar vibe and fresh food. The drunken noodles with veggies had a light fresh taste. Flavors were from the veggies. After adding some of the red pepper sauce it bright it alive. As an appetizer, we tried the snow pea tips(like micro greens). Very unique with strong sauce. It was in the salty side but worth trying. The green curry with veggies was not as thick as other places but tasted fresh. I had a taste of pad Thai with friend tofu. It is nice they offer fried or soft tofu. I was missing the peanut flavor and the sauce was light. We will try again given the great looking drink menu. Jack read more

This is a great cozy restaurant in the downtown Redlands area. This is very much Street Food from the streets of Bangkok. The service is outstanding. I tried the pad king chicken and ka pow pork dishes and they were both tasty. The Decour of the establishment does remind me of the food in Bangkok. read more
Food was okay but nothing close to Thai cuisine. Huge lack in flavor and heat. The egg rolls are not egg rolls they are very floral tasting. All in all, didn't hit the spot of fill the Thai craving. Don't think I'll be back. read more

The vibe of this place is so cute. The decorations and lighting are 10/10 for a nice vibe. The service is friendly and attentive, our server provided us with nice recommendations and thoughts on the dishes. We ordered pad thai with sliced chicken thigh and asked for it to be spicy. The food itself was okay - not bad at all but not the best. It didn't taste authentic or street style but it was not bad. The portion is quite large, which is lovely. read more

Ambiance: A very welcoming and warm environment. The staff have great mannerism and everyone seems to be on the same page of wanting to provide exceptional hospitality to their customers. Music definitely matches the vibe and the staff makes sure that they're checking in on you. Food Choice: Deep Fried Mushrooms Surprisingly, this taste just like chicken and probably one of the best appetizers we've had so far. It definitely is full of flavor and leaves you wanting more. Deep Fried Eggrolls $11 Given the contents of the ingredients, I expected a bit more flavor. Being that it's fairly basic, I don't believe that it's worth getting again. Crab Fried Rice $20 A fairly flavorful dish, especially when you pour in the sauce and mix it up quite a bit. For what it's worth, the proportions are small and if it wasn't for the appetizers we had ordered, this would have barely made a dent for a person who would have only ordered this dish. Drunken Noodles w/ Pork Belly $16 The taste of the first bite of pork belly as you let it melt in your mouth as you put in a forkful of noodles, is quite bliss. A lot of wonderful texture takes place as you eat through the noodles, green onions, and peppers. The only issue with this dish is that it does not pack an adequate amount of flavor that you would expect from it at first glance. The only ingredient that seems really well seasoned and savory, is the pork belly itself. Drink Choice: The Artlands Cocktail Rhum, absinthe, gin, coconut, grapefruit, aloe, and lime are all the ingredients that make up this drink. Sour at the start, but very refreshing throughout as it goes down. You can taste the subtle hints of lime while the flavoring of coconut and grapefruit seems to surface along your tastebuds. Considering the atmosphere, this cocktail seems very appropriate to start the night off right. Thai Tea Very basic and does taste like the average Thai tea that you would normally buy in can form at your local Asian store. Overall Experience: Although a very welcoming environment with staff that provides hospitality anyone would love, the food itself, was sadly a letdown. I feel as though the food is geared more towards a subtext of people who haven't truly tried impactful and flavorful Thai food. And when considering the pricing in correlation with portions, I don't believe a lot of the dishes here are worth the cost. read more

This place is def has the vibes. The walls are bright and there's a tuk tuk in the back. You can see thru a window to see kitchen. There's music and a bar you can sit at. I also like how there's fun drinks and cocktails. The service is pretty attentive. The menu has a lot of staple dishes like pad Thai and curries but there's also some dishes you can't get everywhere like khao soi and fusion twists like sandwiches. I got the moo yang and green curry and it was pretty good, but I wouldn't consider it "authentic" it's very much second gen cooking or Americanized. Still very yummy. I got the sabai sabai drink but it was very sweet. Also don't sleep on coconut pandan dessert. Very good! read more

This place was amazing! Some of the best Thai food I've ever tried. I loved the ambience, the service was great, but wow, the food. So flavorful. We must've tried everything on the menu, and nothing disappointed. The fried tofu and noodles was so good, the curry noodles, the fried mushroom burger - everything was excellent. This isn't close to home for me but I'll definitely be coming back. It's always busy so come early or try to get a reservation. They have a back room for parties. Honestly, overall great. 5 stars. read more

Saap! Last time I came to Aroi Mak Mak was when they first opened...but it's still really really good. Brought my boyfriend who has never been so he can try the best khao soi in the IE. Some will say this place is geared towards people who haven't tried "real" Thai food but order the most basic Thai dishes and forget they're in the middle of Redlands, CA LOL. Aroi Mak Mak is throwing out some of the best Thai food in the IE. Quality ingredients. Quality people. With great intentions!! read more
