Eggplant with Black bean sauce and chicken lunch special
    Harmony L.

My friend and I were at Home Depot and wanted to try a new Thai restaurant and Aroi Thai popped up as highly rated. What a cool spot, a Chef's Kitchen with soooo many options. We stuck to Aroi Thai though and so glad we did. We got the green curry with crispy pork, eggplant with black bean sauce, and chicken wings. Both dishes came out HOT, right off of the stove, which we love. Pretty sizable portions for a lunch special that we appreciated. The chicken wings were perfectly flavored and crispy. The service was amazing. I wish I got their names. The man taking our order was so friendly and the chef in the back (who I think is the owner) was lovely. They let us sample their thai and green tea. Definitely coming back to order those as well. We can't wait to be back to try more items!!

This is me trying to call back, after repeatedly being sent to voicemail

I have never experienced such disgusting and blatant disrespectful behavior from a business owner in my life. Two days before this incident, I ordered from Aroi Thai. The food itself was a little on the bland side and I did end up adding salt to some of the dishes I ordered, but the woman working there was kind and even allowed me to substitute peppers for broccoli with no issue or extra charge. The food wasn't amazing, but it was good enough and I truly did want to support a small business trying to make it in this economy. Three days later, I ended up ordering from them again when they were running a Buy One Get One Free promotion on Uber Eats. I placed a large order of five dishes and received five free, which was great promotion. I made the exact same substitution request as before, requesting to substitute peppers for broccoli. Two minutes after placing the order, I received a call from the owner, Constantine. From the very first sentence, the tone was immediately rude and aggressive and I was told they would not make the substitutions. I calmly explained that this had been done for me just two days earlier. I even offered to pay any up-charge because I truly did not care about a couple of dollars. The owner was shockingly hostile and proceeded to cut me off, spoke over me, and hung up on me mid sentence. I called back thinking the call was a disconnected. I politely said I was happy to pay whatever the difference was required. He raised his voice, refused to listen, and hung up on me again. I tried calling again multiple times, but was immediately sent to voicemail. There was no attempt to resolve anything. No basic courtesy. No professionalism. Just aggression. My husband then called on his phone to inquire about the order and they hung up on him as well. Instead of canceling the order, they changed the Uber pickup time to two hours. Two hours for a pickup order is absurd. Out of curiosity, I had a friend call and ask how long a pickup order would take and to no surprise, she was told a pickup order could be ready in fifteen minutes...The pettiness and immaturity of manipulating the pickup time was completely obvious. When my husband called again from another phone simply to ask why they kept hanging up on us, as paying customers, Constantine then proceeded to tell him to "shut the f*** up" and started yelling at him. Screaming at customers over a vegetable substitution is beyond ridiculous, embarrassing and petty. At that point I was genuinely concerned about the safety of our food and how it would be handled, so I immediately contacted Uber Eats to cancel. After my husband left a negative review, they responded and tried to claim we were attempting to exploit them for free food. That accusation is insulting and untrue. I offered to pay the up-charge on multiple occasions. They also claimed they spent several minutes explaining things over the phone. The call logs show it lasted two minutes (not "several") and I got screenshots to prove it. The dishonesty on top of the aggression is what makes this situation even worse. If you cannot handle your own advertised promotion and speaking to customers with basic respect, without lashing out, yelling and swearing, you should not be running a business. The level of hostility and dishonesty from the owner was appalling. My five year old child has better manners. My biggest piece of advice is to please AVOID this place if you value being treated like an actual human being!

    Chicken Pop

I was hungry and decided to try this place out for the first time, I usually don't eat out because of my diet but their chicken pop looks good so I decided to try it. The man who helped me didn't ask what I wanted or even greeted me but that was fine bc all I wanted was food. Price was marked $18.99 ended up spending $20 including a delivery service? which I find so weird and in this economy I better hope this food is good. I try it and it was so salty, the mayo was too much and the chicken was not the best. I ended up throwing the food away ): so disappointed because I love Thai food. I will say the lady is really nice (: Lmfao, Ty for the response! Still the flavor was just bad to me ,but again this is my experience, my taste buds and my review. It may be a best seller to you but it sure didn't taste like one! Thank you again for your reply (:

    Orange chicken is a must

I recently visited ROSS in Van Nuys and was looking for authentic Thai Food in the area. I came across to AROI THAI, which had great reviews, so I decided to stop by. I ordered the Thai Basil with Beef Tenderloin and extra fried egg, along with the Orange Chicken Rice Pot for my kids. A friendly man--possibly the owner--helped me with my order, and the service was excellent. The first bite of the Thai Basil dish instantly reminded me of the Authentic Thai flavors from my home in Thailand, where I was born. My children absolutely loved the Orange Chicken as well. The owner also offered us a sample of Thai Green Tea, which was incredibly delicious! The atmosphere was really cool, with lots of food and drink options to choose in this food court. I definitely plan to come back and try more dishes next time.

Their service was welcoming and friendly. I will say my review is not based on that. Although I was craving a seafood soup it was not flavorful it tasted like boiled water. Not to mention I ordered it mild. I found 2 long strands of hair found inside the fish, although I couldn't tell the chef because I took it to go and ate it at home, I couldn't drive another 25 mins to ask for a refund back. I've had seafood soup before but this wasn't as delicious as I expected. :/

Service was great, efficient and very friendly. The open space allows for you to see in the kitchen and it was very clean and organized. The food is made fresh upon ordering. Overall great quality and great taste. I got the chicken pad Thai very spicy and it was so good, will have it again.

Amazing experience. I ordered a beef/chicken/shrimp plate with noodles and veggies. Everything was cooked to perfection. I am not really into Thai food but this plate blew me away. It included 2 home made gyozas and a zesty sauce. Fresh, well seasoned and very tasty. The price of $15 was great too. Btw the Chef is from Thailand so she knows everything first hand. Very friendly owners and fast service. A hidden gem inside the glass monstrosity. Highly recommended

    Pad Thai

A small but very cozy Thai spot it feels truly authentic, like being in Thailand. The Pad Thai is amazing: perfectly balanced flavor and super fresh ingredients. The Thai tea is sweet, creamy, and delicious. Friendly service and fair prices. A real hidden gem for Thai food lovers!

Being a huge matcha fan, I was all set to order one, but then I spotted a unique drink on the menu called "Fluffy Hojicha." I got curious and asked a staff member what hijocha was. They told me it has a distinct roasted flavor, which really intrigued me. Not knowing what to expect from a roasted tea, I decided to give it a try. The wait for my sister's drink, along with a crème brûlée donut and a strawberry donut, was just a quick 3-5 minutes. The first sip of the Hojicha caught me off guard; it wasn't my favorite right away. But with each sip, I started to appreciate and eventually really enjoy the unique roasted flavor of the tea. The crème brûlée donut was a lovely addition - just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. ELNO is located in a building with other small vendors, and there's a seating area that fits only two to three people. I found parking easily since I went on a weekday around 4 PM. My sister mentioned that on weekends, parking is a real hassle. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.

After ordering, I waited over 20 minutes for my drink and mochi. There was no announcement or indication that my order was ready. It turns out it had been sitting in a corner that isn't even visible from the customer waiting area. If I hadn't gone looking, I probably would have waited even longer. To make matters worse, the mochi was unbelievably small, especially considering it cost nearly $14. The portion was nowhere close to what the price would lead you to expect. Overall, the service throughout my visit was extremely poor, and the experience left a very negative impression. Between the slow service, poor communication, excessive wait time, and overpriced food, I won't be returning. There are far better boba shops that value their customers' time.
