This is my go to place for War Won Ton Soup when I'm not feeling well. I unfortunately moved to the other side of town and made the mistake of ordering from someone else last time, and it just wasn't the same. Fortune House adds plenty of BBQ pork which is what really makes or breaks War Won Ton (for me anyways), and they don't skimp on the other ingredients either. Unfortunately I have a summer cold, but fortunately this was on my way home today. We usually stick to our go-to dishes, but the place is always full of both loyal regulars and new faces (which says a lot about how good it is). I personally love the veggie fried rice (perfect every time) and the tofu with cashew, while my kid can't get enough of their cashew chicken. The flavors are consistent and delicious, and portions are generous for the price. The location does get a little busy around lunchtime, but the parking lot is fairly ample, which makes things easier. What really makes this place stand out, though, are the staff, Johnny and Tino are the best, and the owner and Seth are also great. They're incredibly friendly and always walking around to check in on guests, which gives the whole restaurant such a welcoming, homey feel. Stopped off on a random evening for Thai food which we've been a few time throughout the years. Staff is always so friendly which is always a good sign. This particular night, we happened to be the last that arrived. There was a few groups still utilizing the tables but finishing us their meals. Staff is always so friendly which was great. Very sweet. Also seems like all the patrons seem to know the staff so it could be your local family local spot. Food didn't take long to arrived and was fresh which is always a good sign. Went last night, been here a few times but tonight hit different, the flavors fresh and spot on. Very basic Thai menu but done well. The flavors are delicious and will satisfy your buds. The Pad Pik King which is Green beans sauteed with a spicy curry paste with kaffir lime leaves and choice of meat is mouth watering delicious. All the staff are extremely friendly especially the owner he was so accommodating and nice and funny. The food itself was delicious we got the $19.95 dinner deal per person and it was more than enough food. This restaurant is tucked away in the saticoy shopping plaza, a bit hidden away. Inside was a bit warm and humid. A fish tank with sleepy fish greets you as you enter. Large TV screens show sports and news. The smiling owner handed us some worn menus and was very extroverted and talkative. I got an ice cold Lemonade to cool me down, the summers here in the valley are brutal. The fried catfish came in a coconut curry sauce, my basil chicken was very aromatic and flavorful. I would have preferred that the fish been served whole instead of in chunks. Everything tasted great, tons of flavor but could have been hotter. The pineapple coconut ice cream came with lychee on ice. It was a nice way to end the meal. The kind owner put our leftovers in bags for us and took the time to talk to us. I liked the panang curry with fried tofu and vegetables. I requested peppers and fish sauce and steamed rice to go with it. Had broccoli, peppers, lime leaf shreds and cabbage and the dish was very tasty once the peppers and fish sauce were added. I also ordered the spring rolls but they weren't cooked through all the way and I didn't really care for the sauce. Lots of groups and take out orders came through while I was here. They are popular! We ordered their pad woon sen and pad kee mao for delivery, and I'm still thinking about how tasty these dishes were... it's been two days. This is one of our go-to spots for last minute, delivered Thai food, but I'm usually so preoccupied with eating the food that I forget to take photos or wrote a review. Unfortunately, that means I sometimes forget what I liked or loved here, so here are my notes-to-self: 1) pad kee mao: a little spicy, super flavorful, a good portion of noodles, and a balance of veggies and meat! Super reliable go-to dish for me. 2) pad woon sen: we were surprised by just how good it was here! I'm not sure if we'd just never ordered it from here before, or if they've changed the way they season it, but it was tasty enough for me to think about how good it was, days later. Haven't been here for several years and went here for my birthday celebration. Last time I was here, I had planned on trying one of the duck menu items, so today I tried the Duck Curry, my friend had the Kanar in Garlic Sauce, and we shared a bowl of sticky rice and the veggie Spring rolls. First off, Sett (Sam) came to greet us. He is so kind, it just makes eating here a pleasure. Second, we opted for different items rather than just Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. The menu here is a delight! So many varieties to choose from! Our food came quickly, it was delicious and satisfying (one warning- the duck had bones, but it added flavor to the dish), and there's enough for dinner tonight.
