Great boba spot next to the Ranch 99 in Van Nuys! I stopped by for boba after lunch nearby at Sam Woo. It's a small storefront with a handful of countertop seats along the two sides, so it's not the best spot to hang out with friends. I noticed most people were getting their drinks to go. They have a large menu of drinks, with a helpful list of their top 10 most popular drinks. I got one of them, the large Hokkaido oolong milk tea with half sweetness and less ice, for $6.85. I think I should've gone up a bit on the sugar level, maybe 75%, as it was a bit not sweet enough for me. However, the taste was really good. A bit caramel-y, which is what I've come to expect from Hokkaido milk teas. I come back to this plaza occasionally, so I look forward to my next drink here! read more

Headed here after dinner one night, and it was good! It was mildly busy (just because the shop itself is small so it can make it seem busier than it actually is), but we easily ordered our drinks and left within 10 minutes. There are a few seats available. I usually buy and go. When it is in the afternoon, the sun hits inside the place and the space is warm. Drink selection is very good. Customization available- adjust ice, sugar level, and toppings. My go to drink during summer is a fruity tea. Winter, i like milk tea. The boba is very good. The drinks arrived promptly and there was nothing negative noted about their time preparation. Service is fast, we end up going here to get a drink after dinner at Sam woo or grocery shopping at 99 ranch. The menu had a good variety of options, and we ended up ordering: Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea (Less Ice, 50% Sweet, with Golden Boba) and the Peach Lychee Green Tea (Less Ice, 50% Sweet, with Crystal Boba) Right off the bat, we wished the cups were bigger for the price. Both drinks were 50% sweet, but we definitely would have preferred them less sweet. The Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea tasted watered down and was still quite sweet. On the other hand, the Peach Lychee Green Tea was refreshing and tasty, though again, we'd opt for less sweetness next time. The crystal boba added a nice texture to the drink. If you're new to milk teas and fruit teas, this place is a good starting point. However, just a heads-up--they don't have traditional brown sugar tapioca boba, only golden boba. Would we come back? Ding tea is located in the same shopping center as 99 Ranch, Pho So 1, Sam Woo, etc. Every so often I crave a good milk tea or switch it up with a smoothie or slush. After visiting one or all of the places just mentioned Ding tea is a great place to grab a drink for the road! I enjoy their milk teas as you are able to customize the sweetness and level of ice to you liking. I've tried several different flavors of milk tea and enjoyed all of them with no doubts. Not having had Ding Tea in years, I was excited to relive some memories of their Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea. Parking at this Ding Tea location is quite hectic, as it's a small lot that often leaves bigger cars feeling quite claustrophobic. The Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea that I ordered was not as tasty as I remembered, and it felt very thin and too sweet despite it being 30% sweet. Ambiance wise, I enjoyed their decorations, but would highly advise against studying / working at this location. For starters, there is very little seating, and the tables feel cramped. The music is quite loud, and foot traffic can be extra distracting. Additionally, their tables are not stable. If you have the same misfortune as me, others sitting at the table may continue shaking the table with any small movement. Outside of the work environment and the drinks, the staff were friendly and welcoming though I do not see myself returning. read more

One suggestion is to have sugar substitutes like monk fruit or stevia (for longevity since diabeetus is such a prob everywhere heh). They have a regular and large size. I got a large size and paid $6.10 .... That much for tea ??? They do have slushees, bobas, milk teas etc.... It's my first time at this location in Van Nuys, and the Hakkaido oolong milk tea was scrumptious as the ones I had at all the other branches. Staff was young but friendly, but that's not unusual at a boba place. We got our drinks fairly quickly. Conveniently located right next to a 99 Ranch Market and a pho restaurant, this location enjoys plenty of foot traffic. I've seen this place completely packed before, but fortunately when we went in it was completely empty. When you order you can choose your size, sugar level, and ice level. - Matcha milk tea, 50% sweet, less ice, with golden boba: The matcha milk tea was still too sweet even with 50% sugar so next time I might opt for 25%. I know this place is known for their golden boba so I wanted to see how it was different than regular boba. I was surprised to actually taste a difference! The texture is a little more firm than regular boba, but it was cooked really well and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't really order boba much, but I'm glad I gave it a try. - Grapefruit yakult/yogurt, less ice, with crystal boba: For the yuzu drinks they don't add additional sugar so you aren't able to adjust the sweetness. However, the grapefruit drink was great since the sourness of the grapefruit paired nicely with the sweetness of the yakult. Crystal boba is more firm and almost has a fruity, lychee flavor to it so it goes nicely with the yakult drinks. Drinks were prepared very quickly! It's located in a mall so there's enough parking but you may need to park a little farther away depending on how busy it is. read more
