First of all I want to say that 1 star is EXTREMELY generous. I would give it zero stars if that were an option. This place was horrible from start to finish. Once seated we waited over 15 minutes and not one person had acknowledged our existence. I finally called over a server to see if someone was coming and that is when he got our waitress Dominique. She came over and blamed her other two "annoying" tables on why she hadn't gotten to us. First of all that was highly unprofessional and second of all it takes two seconds to walk over to a table and say I'll be right with you. When she took our order she wrote NOTHING down. I knew that my order would come out wrong at that point. I ordered a cheeseburger rare with no onions and my husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. We ordered our drinks, a kid's meal for our child under 12 and the other three people in our party ordered burgers and tacos. One perk was that on Mondays kids eat free, so we were happy about that. It took 15 minutes for our drinks to come out and our food took OVER AN HOUR. I asked her several times when the food was coming and she kept saying "It will be right out." I was clearly irritated by the long wait for burgers and tacos, yet Dominique was unapologetic and blamed the kitchen. I understand that the waitstaff has no control over the kitchen, however, she did not come over once to apologize and was missing in action more most of the night. Had she even attempted to provide us with decent service, it might have compensated for the long wait. That was not the case. When our food FINALLY came out, it was wrong of course. My burger came out well done with onions and my husband's grilled chicken sandwich was fried. The chips with the tacos were so stale they were inedible. We asked to see the manager and I told him that my burger came out wrong after waiting over an hour and all he did was say "Sorry, the kitchen is backed up." My burger was disgusting, but I choked it down because I didn't want to wait another hour for a new one. The manager didn't even offer me a new burger. My burger should have been comped, or at the very least my drinks. When we were ready for the check of course Dominique was MIA again (she never once came to check on us to see how the food was. In fact I barely even saw her in the dining room the entire night.) We had to flag her down and FINALLY she came over. We were offered a measly little dissatisfied discount on our meal and NO APOLOGIES and they charged us for the kids meal which was supposed to be free. Once again, impossible to find Dominique and I had to get another server to send out a search party for her. I had to wait again for her to have the check fixed. After being held hostage in this restaurant for over two hours, we finally got out. This was my first and LAST time eating at this place. I do not recommend it. The food is sub par and the service is LOUSY. Like I previously stated, kitchen in the weeds or not, the service was horrendous. DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE. You will be disappointed. * I would like to update this post and say that after I submitted this review, Arooga's replied to my post and asked me to email them. I did and they NEVER responded. This particular Arooga's location is terrible. We live literally ten minutes down the road from it but moving forward we will visit the Hershey/Hummelstown location. The service is atrocious every single we dine here. The wait staff is hit or miss in terms of pleasantness/professionalism. I tend to frequent Aroogas each week. They have great wings and an awesome happy hour. The bartenders are always friendly! Over the last 2 months, the food has been a little disappointing. I usually get the caprese wrap each time I go. Sometimes its amazing and other times I could kick myself for not getting wings. The last 2 times I received plain grilled tenders with a wedge of tomato and 2 slices of cheese. no dressing, no basil. very bland. But thats okay, I still ate it and I'm still happy with Aroogas. Try and try again. Went in the second Thursday of the NCAA ball tournament. Figured it was a Thursday. Figure the tournament was on....they would be ready for a crowd. Waited to be seated as in no one even there to seat you for several minutes. There were 2 or 3 vacant tables just no one cleaning them and seating. The food usually is a bit of a redeemer. Tried Arooga's for dinner tonight and was VERY disappointed. When we arrived there we had to wait 5 minutes for anyone to even greet us. Once we were seated we waited another 10 minutes before a waitress took our drinks and food order. I ordered a water and my boyfriend ordered a Coke that we again had to wait 10 minutes for. At no time did the waitress or any other staff apologize or even act friendly. We finally got our food which was pretty good but hard to enjoy since we were already feeling unsatisfied with our experience. There were many open tables so it's not like the waitstaff was super busy. From listening to patrons at tables around us it was easy to see that no one seemed happy. A table next to us was even comped free appetizers because they were so unhappy and complained about the service. I was glad just to get the bill and leave. Went in for AYCE wings. 2 people. Got seated at 6:00 and put in the first order at 6:10. Food didn't arrive until 6:45. At that time put in another order of wings. 7:45 still no wings. Server and hostess came around in that time to ask how we were doing. Each time we told them "just waiting on our wings" in which they responded "they'll be out shortly" Couldn't find the server so I left the money and left. It wasn't the servers fault. The kitchen was just horribly staffed. People that came in after us were getting they're food faster! I doubt I'll be back soon. read more

It's a chain restaurant and they have typical bar food so nothing spectacular. However, when I went for lunch last week for a moment I thought I was in a hair salon. I didn't know that I could get my hair braided/twisted in unoccupied sections of the seating area while I waited on my food! It wasn't busy so I guess the hostess/waitress thought it would be a great teambuilding activity to braid each others hair, and then proceeded to assist customers. Granted they aren't handling food in the kitchen but let's just say I saw them walk straight from the 'salon' to wait/assist customers. So I'm sure if I would have requested a refill they would have picked my cup with 'hair hands' and refilled my beverage in the kitchen. ...GOOD LUCK. read more

This place wasn't as bad as people are making it out to be. It has beer. Not a bad selection of beer at that either. The price of said beer also isn't too expensive. It has TVs galore that make it a great place to catch a game or whatever it is you're trying to view. I went for a few drinks and to watch some Phillies baseball. I was content with my experience. Definitely the smallest of the Arooga's. However, even though it is smaller, there is always a shorter wait than the others. There a TV's every where you look, so it's a good place to check out a game. The atmosphere is better at the route 22 location, but this is still a great place to come and grab a meal or drink. read more

best bar food around! Crab soft pretzel is where its at! I became a huge fan of Aroogas this past year when it was the ONLY place around open when hurricane Stella was hitting us! The day of came and they never showed. We called and got someone that said they "forgot"!?!? The owner did apologize and offer to cater an event free of charge. Takes forever to get my food. It was like 45 mins.

My mother and I visited this location for dinner the other night. It was moderately busy when we arrived. The manager at the time made sure we had a clean booth to sit in. Our young blonde haired waitress came over, took our order and said "Ill put this in right away." As I was sitting there I realized that it has been a half hour and we still had no food. I asked her to put the food in a box once it was prepared so we could take it home to eat. At this point I was tired of being there so I brought in the same manager to see what the issue was. The manager was very nice and went to find out what happened to our order. The manager returned to our table only to tell us that our waitress did not put our order in, so we were sitting there for a half hour and our order wasn't even in the system. Following this news, the waitress came to our table and attempted to apologize. So I asked her what happened and she responded with "It slipped my mind. I was doing other stuff." That was a bad move on her part. After I questioned the waitress about how can it "slip your mind" I told her that her job is to take peoples orders, put them in and feed your guests, that is what she signed up for. That is the job title of a waitress. Mid way through my rant, she stormed off into the kitchen, she whipped open the double swinging door so hard that it hit the back wall and she screamed very loud. Most of the people in the restaurant at the time stopped and looked. I just hope no one in the kitchen got clobbered by that door. The only positive part about this whole ordeal was the manager at the time. I wish I could have gotten her name because she was very sweet and made sure everything got taken care of. So thank you to her for her good attitude and kindness. Also, the waitress' do not bring out the food, so keep that in mind when you go to tip your waitress. Just make sure the waitress puts your order in. Oh, and the urinal in the mens bathroom is entirely too high. If you aren't at least 6 foot tall, you might as well just pee on the floor. read more

I ordered a carry out with Aroogas and I was extremely happy with my experience. When I called in my order, I was given friendly and helpful service. It seemed that the person on the other end of the phone was happy to take my order and she offered up suggestions. While picking up my order, I was welcomed and my order was ready! The best part was back at home, when eating the food. The wings were AMAZING and I had a wonderful salad as well. Everything was just the way I asked for it and it tasted great. I would definetly recommend Arooga's to anyone needing to order To-Go food. And I will be back for more. read more

We have frequented this establishment for years, (even back when it was Kokomo's). Honestly, it has just gone down hill. It is a very hit or miss restaurant. Three visits ago we actually got food poisoning, but I guess we are gluttons for punishment... Well actually we got a gift card for Christmas and needed to grab lunch this past time. In reference to the food poisoning, I actually made a point to email their corporate office and received a prompt apology. They said they wanted to send us something to make up for it, (what I assume was going to be a gift card,) however we never received anything. But my reason was not to get something, but to warn them so no one else would get sick. This most recent visit proved to me how lacking they are in the kitchen. First let me say our service is always good, and I have never had a complaint about that. The food runners are even great. However, the kitchen is a hot mess. The 2nd to last time we were there my Pittsburgh steak salad came out with no cheese and I just dealt with it (didn't want to torture the busy waitress for cheese). The last time however just solidified that the kitchen doesn't really care in the least bit what they out out. We ordered soft pretzels that literally came out raw. We had to send those back... We had no choice, they were inedible. The next was a side Caesar salad, and I ended up getting one that was so small, and here it was completely the incorrect size (which they did make right, but now we had sent back 2 out of 2 things we received.). We did get sandwiches which were fine, which is why I even give the place 2 stars. I would say, this place just isn't worth the time or money. Going there for beers and wings, you'd probably be safe, but other than that I'd definitely go anywhere else but here. read more

Again, it happened again. Every few months it seems like a good idea to go to aroogas for dinner. The parking lot was not busy so we figured "let's give it another shot" the food is good! It's always the same story, awful service and wait times for over an hour for our food. We asked to speak to a manager and our food came out shortly after. Not sure if the waitress forgot to put our food into the computer or what. Manager did not as much say " we are sorry for the wait" nothing. Stopped through on way to visit family... friendly local place.. varied bar food menu. I got the perogis, which I'm particularly fond of anyway, they were great. Had a coupon from the local Giant so thought we would check it out. Ambiance, Sports Bar, The room we were in was nothing but a row of Flatscreen TV along each wall with a TV monitor at each table. (But then, it is called a sports bar) The decor felt a little forced, the Blue, while probably a reference to Penn State, gives a cool feeling to the environment. Service was off, I think it was due to the waitress being new, She made a valiant effort to work through the menu and go thru the explanation of the restaurant ( mandatory since we had the "red napkin " given to new customers ) But with 29 Beers on Tap, some additional training was in order. On the plus side there was Hard Cider ( Wood Chuck ) on tap. She also didn't catch that the Kitchen forgot to put Fries on my Chili Burger and had to check the menu even to see that Fries were supposed to be on the burger. Food was pretty good, While the burger looked small on the bun, it tasted good and the chili was tasty, once I got the fries on the burger it made for a great combination also I enjoyed the Cole Slaw. Finally got to desert, had the Sundae pizza. Mmmmmmmmm. Very thin soft chocolate chip cookie, with Ice Cream, Mmmmmmmmmm. So over-all 4 stars for Food, 2 for ambience and service, Food is more important, so three stars. read more

Recommend the hot wings with 20 different sauce options--especially the twice baked ones which are extra crispy. Overall a good sports bar with a diverse menu and good beer selection. The fries were cold, the wings were barely warm and the home made roll turned out to be Martin's Dinner Rolls. Food here has steadily been going down hill.
