Excellent, fresh food. Relaxed environment and friendly host. Huevos Rancheros definitely not to be missed and the Bloody Mary is mixed with homemade Mary mix...not shy on the vodka French press coffee served table side. Awesome staff! Amy was amazing. Her and her husband have been there for 22 years. They are only open a few days a week and mainly for breakfast. Don't expect them to open right at 9am though, it's 9ish (which I loved). The place is a little hard to find, but worth the hunt! She recommended we start with dessert first, which we did. The berry biscuit pudding was amazing and the grapefruit cheesecake was to die for!! The corned beef hash was by far the best I ever had! The biscuits are huge and amazing. The bacon gravy is awesome. Can't go wrong at this place. Prices are reasonable but they only accept cash, so make sure you have cash on you. Can't wait to go there again. read more

Yah, sorry I am going to have to ruin the reviews on this one. First of all, Kinda of hard to find because it looks like a house with no real sign. There is a chalk board hanging in the window and that's about it. The owner seemed to be enjoying her day like she was just cooking for her friends, considering she paid little attention to me and my bf. I don't even think we got a proper greeting. We just sat ourselves and had to ask for a menu. She continued to talk to her friends who were eating at the bar next to us. We over heard her tell her friends she was out of biscuits and gravy and french toast. It didn't take us long to make a decision with our limited options, but it did take the waitress a while to realize we were just sitting there ready for her to take our order. The whole time we listened to awful pirate music in the background. I get it's suppose to go with the theme, but it was more irritating than anything. The food was good, which I gave them an extra point for that. I had the eggs Benedict with country potatoes which was all cooked perfectly. My bf got the corn beef hash. It seemed like a small portion, but he didn't complain. Complements to the chef! In the end I suppose I got really ticked when they told me I could only pay in cash! There should be at least signs for this! I was so done with this place at that point. I guess if you like being ignored and going only for the great food, this would be the place to go. read more

Start with dessert- it's encouraged. Everything on the menu is delicious... my favorite is the ahi tuna (not gassed - ask) in a rice crust. Aymee makes delicious cocktails and everything Robert cooks is incredible. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the entire county. read more

I knew it was going to be fun and interesting and delicious, but I really did not know to what great extent Arr Place would be all of those things. The ambiance is eclectic (tons of mind/logic puzzles, salt and pepper shaker collection, fun table covering) but the place is clean and inviting. The food is so clearly made with passion and they utilize local, seasonal foods to an extreme degree--putting food up in season to be used out-of-season, so you can have that maitake-asparagus mix of the day with summer corn and not even feel guilty about it (not to mention the flavor is so much better). Of course, dessert first: apple crisp/crumble with cinnamon ice cream, plus some solo chocolate ice cream. Then a giant plate-sized pancake that might literally have been the best pancake I've ever eaten. Eggs Benedict with ham for me and with local albacore for my dining companion; biscuits and bacon gravy for our other companion -- homemade breads in each (English muffins and biscuits, respectively). French press coffee, local condiments and all of those things that people in Portland would love but you're out in Newport and you feel like you just hit the secret hipster hidden gem jackpot...and you don't even have to deal with the hipster service. I'm so grateful for finally coming to Arr Place and I can't wait to return -- have to remember the cash next time though (FYI, closest ATM is at Panini Bakery). read more

I've eaten at ARR Place a few times now and the food has always been good. Not earth-shaking. Good. Local. Well-prepared. But I think I won't be going back. The prices are overly high for the local Newport economy; we spent $150 on dinner and $50 for 2 for a simple potatoes & veggies breakfast! Drinks are $9 or $10 each. And no real Vegan options. With many other great options in Newport, I think ARR is pushing the limits of price. read more

A very unusual place for dinner; only open for dinners on Thursday evenings. Breakfast and brunch is served on the weekends. Four choices for dinner entrees; meat, pasta, chicken and seafood. I was honestly super impressed with this place, both in terms of the actual food and with how they handled online ordering/COVID protocols. We ordered the night before for breakfast pickup, arrived right on time, and it was hot and ready to go. The co-owner met us outside, all masked up, and knew who we were without having to ask. As for the food itself, it's absolutely delicious. We got the Mix of the Moment as an omelette (with black forest ham, maitake and shiitake mushrooms, broccoli rabe, onions, and garlic) and the corned beef hash with sunnyside up eggs. The mix omelette was perfectly balanced between the earthiness of the mushrooms and broccoli, the sharp bite of the cheddar (optional), and the natural sweetness of the eggs. The corned beef was incredibly beefy, and the eggs were cooked perfectly--super fluffy with runny yolk. Both dishes came with tasty drop biscuits. Overall, a meal worth every penny, and not your average breakfast. We're sad we won't be able to experience dinner, or dining in at the house. read more

This is a place for epicureans and people who like great tasty food prepared by a true sous chef. Everything was delicious. Even the coffee was served to you fresh in a French press carafe. I would highly recommend it. Their prices are toward the high side. The coffee is $9.50 per carafe. But, we are from Southern California, this was not only a good place to eat, but an experience off the beaten path. You really can't tell it's a restaurant, as it's somewhat situated in a residential district. The stuff they have is quality faire, including ice cream made from Goose eggs. The food here is great. The place earns only 3 stars for a number of reasons. When I go to a restaurant, it's because I don't want to eat at home. This place seems to pride itself on behaving as if you're at home. There is no sign to mark where it is. (We had to call for directions). If they are busy, expect to sit with strangers at a larger table. We sat at the bar, and the waitress numerous times talked loudly across us to some other patrons who seemed to be regulars. We was staying at the Elizabeth street inn (which will get a three star review later...) and found this place on yelp. It is literally the closest restaurant to the hotel. There is no sign but if you follow the little red pin on the yelp map it will lead you right to it. Aimee is quite a character - we traded stories through dinner. It is like a neighborhood bar, but for gourmet food. Everything is locally sourced, in season, and they put it up themselves for the off season. I really can't say enough about how awesome it was in there. My advice: do what Aimee says and have dessert. Or "bookend" desserts - one on each end of your main course. read more

Quirky, fun place!! Don't go if you are looking to grab a quick bite. They are operating on their own time zone in this place, and that's part of the charm. Toys and puzzles on the tables keep kids and adults entertained alike. Food is really really good. But seating is limited, so know that. Don't try to bring a party of 8, lol. This is the best place to eat on the Oregon coast. Each dish is creative and delicious, and to echo another reviewer, their attention to local ingredients is appreciated. We love the friendly atmosphere and how the restaurant has such a cozy feel to it. Besides the wonderful cooking, it's always fun to sit at the counter and talk to Amy. No, there's no sign, but not having the place packed with tourists is a major plus. We don't live in Oregon any more, but are always excited to get out there for dinner when possible. read more

My friends were in town from Seattle and we found this little heaven on earth. The service was the best we have had by far since moving to the coast and the food was fabulous! I have been depressed since moving from Seattle to Newport because of lack of good service and food, but Arr Place totally gave me the wonderful restaurant experience I have been missing. Everything we had was wonderful from the lemonade made to order; which we added some Hendrix Gin, to the Brutis a ceasar inspired salad which was perfect from the delightful dressing, mixed greens and little crunchy croutons. The home-made pasta was cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce. Our dessert which we had first was small but rich and wonderful. I can't say anything bad about this wonderful hidden treasure, but I'm glad are other party had cash because we were unaware of this and now we know. We will continue to dine here as well as recommend it to people here that we wouldn't mind dining with. read more

Started with a delicious peach crisp dessert (house policy recommends dessert first), then moved on to salmon benedict and corned beef hash, both of which were excellent.
