Manager is extremely rude after it took 45 minutes longer than they originally stated.

This place has the best pizza in town, maybe even in the country. However, lately the wait has been awful. A few months back we ordered a day in advance knowing we would be on hold if we ordered when they open and would have to wait 1.5 hours. Today, we called just after they opened at 4pm (had to call 15 times-- no exaggeration-- see photo) and finally got through at 4:19. Was told 1hr 45 minutes for 2 pizzas. I arrived at 6:15 for pickup and was told it would be another 50 minutes. Another guest said they were told "another 10-20 minutes" and they'd been there almost an hour. Thankfully, they were nice enough to give me the option to cancel my order, but I'm guessing that's because our pizzas hadn't even gone in the oven yet. I certainly hope the service improves quickly. I've ordered from this spot for about two decades. LOVE this spot. The pizza is exceptional. I mean. Really good. However tonight, I had a less than great experience with service. I called at 4:30 for a pickup order at 7:30. When I arrived the very kind man behind the counter says to me... oh, we were just gonna call you cuz your pizza has been here a while. Showed me on the ticket where it said I called in at 4:30. Then I clarified that I had stated it was a pickup for 7:30. Then he says... oh yeah, that IS on the ticket. Then I asked him... so has it been sitting here? This very kind man, looks me straight in my eyes and says no. I shoulda called him out while I was there. Cuz if it wasn't sitting there all that time, why were they gonna call me? I'm chill. He coulda been honest. And maybe offered a discount of some sort. SOMETHING. But why did he have to lie? I've eaten from here SO many times. I know what the pizza tastes like fresh and I also know what it tastes like not so fresh. (leftovers) I am incredibly disappointed. I feel disrespected cuz he thought I was a fool and he could get away with lying to me and that I wouldn't know any better. I did just try calling to possibly speak to a manager at 8:00. I normally enjoy the pizza here / its super good!!! Sweet sauce and tasty toppings. This time we tried the Pasta and Chicken Dinner! Fettuccine Alfredo: definitely rich and buttery. It was amazing. A very large portion for the money. Cheese Curds: tasty little nuggets of cheese. Great! 4pc Chicken Dinner w/seasoned broasted potatoes: four pieces of chicken and seasoned broasted potatoes. Some bread and coke slaw too. The chicken was juicy and tasty. The potatoes were also great! The service was amazing as normal. Love this place! read more

I've grown up in Highland and this is easily my favorite pizza place since I was a kid. The sweet sauce is the best. If you don't like a sweet pizza sauce I wouldn't recommend it for you. If you do though, I'd highly recommend it. It's not for everyone. It's pricey for pizza, but it's good. Pay cash. Go pick it up. I can't speak for delivery but by doing this I've never had a complaint. My only other note would be if you're ordering multiple pizzas bring a friend because they have bags instead of boxes. Not an issue just tougher to carry. It's always consistent and delicious. The deep dish is fantastic and thin crust is too. read more

Best deep dish around!!!!! Just be prepared. Can take up to or over 2 hours for pizza for carry out. It was 2.50 hours for our one medium deep dish! We only waited because theirs is so yummy. Pizza is good service is god awful, wait times are ALWAYS much longer than they estimate! On two occasions I was quoted 10-15 min and ended up waiting damn near an hour both times (understandably for deep dish) but I had two thin pizzas... either they were desperate for the sale and lied on the phone or they have zero clue how to time out orders! I have been going to the Highland location for quite a few years and their customer service (at this location anyway) has really gone downhill. I don't like when businesses think that because they have been in business for so long or have a good product that they do not have to be worried about customer service anymore and that seems to be what has happened here. Our latest order was not cut evenly, okay no big deal, but when you're paying full price for extra ingredients and they are not even on half the pizza then that's a problem. When my husband called to let them know, they responded with that's not possible. I took a photo and I messaged them with my concerns on Facebook and they never responded. This place hands down has one of the best stuffed pizzas I've ever had. It easily compares if not better than every pizza place in Chicago. If you like sweet sauce then you will absolutely love Arrenello's. Some people may think the sauce is actually too sweet, but in my opinion, it's one of the best pizza sauces I've ever had. They always load it up with cheese, and never skimp on the ingredients. I highly recommend the stuffed sausage pizza. I always add some basil, red pepper flakes, and Parmesan cheese to enhance the flavorful experience. This place will not let you down. Where do I begin? Let's start with the hold time on the phone - 5 minutes. Normally I would not have waited this long, however my daughter who is visiting requested this pizza. No longer a fan... I started ordering from this location because I moved in the area and the Glenwood location was no longer close for me. The customer service here SUCKS! This place knew how to crank out some good pizza years ago. Unfortunately, it has gone down hill. I tried it recently but yet again it just wasn't the pizza from years ago. It's disappointing to pay close to 30.00 drive 20 minutes and get a crappy pizza. About year or so ago I drove up only to find a lady and the cook smoking their cigs next door in front of the bakery and follow me in after I walked in to get me my pizza. The customer service here has always been below average to terrible. Also, a few years back the cranky old lady gave my g/f a hard time. My g/f made a mistake and tried to order a 16" pizza she yelled at her on the phone it is 15" and it always has been for years since blah blah year. This used to be one of my fave deep dish spots but unfortunately whatever they did to the sauce ... it's not good. A hint of sweet was nice but now it's LOADED with sugar it seems. This place lost a customer yesterday. They gave me the wrong pizza, then when I got home I called and they said they would give me 5 dollars off my next order. I ordered a large cheese pizza and 10 wings. Then they upsold me to a family for 3.50 more. They gave a large pizza . So when they said they would give me 5 dollars off my next order it is really like 1.50 dollar off my next order. The manager could not figure out what i meant. We had just unloaded our moving truck and decided on pizza for the crew of helpers. This place seemed like a good choice due to the interesting sauce reviews. Since we were low on cash after relocation expenses, I phoned in and explained we r new to the area and inquired about any available specials. I got a blunt no. Meanwhile someone in our group used their phone to pull-up coupons for this place, but Analfellows phone girl said they only give those out after I buy a pizza. She suggested I could also get one out of a local paper?!! WTF, it's on our phone screen! I had to get a manager override on that "box of rocks" policy. Thank you sooooo much! They are pick-up/delivery only. There are no seats inside. So plan a day to rent some movies at home and order some awesome pizza from here! This is the most "Chicago-style" pizza place you will find in Indiana. I dare you to challenge that. They specialize in stuffed pizza and they do it right! Their pizzas are very saucy and very cheesy...exactly what a pizza pie should be. I usually am full after only two slices--it's that filling! Customer service is terrible. I ordered 2 pizzas and chicken at 5: 23 for pick up. 70 plus dollars. Sent my husband to pick up and after waiting for 45 minutes, after paying no pizza. No one said there was a problem with our pizza or offered an apology. After 45 minutes they did offer us a 6 pack of pop. 30 people in and out and still no word or explanation on why it was taking so long. My Hubbie even asked if there was a problem and no, no was the response. So after he got home, 2 hours after I ordered, I called and talked to the manager Kathy, who was rude and hung up on me. I want to be fair and relate my experiences with Arrenello's Pizza - Highland, IN location. First - If you don't like a sweet pizza sauce, don't order from here. They are forthcoming in stating that their sauce is sweet. Believe them. I like it occasionally, but it is a matter of taste. Second - Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never experienced a rude person when I've placed an order for delivery. When they're busy, someone will answer and ask you to hold and then immediately put you there. Places get busy and perhaps I'm more forgiving than others but I don't find this off putting. When they do come back to the phone, they've always been pleasant. Third - Again, maybe I've been lucky, but my pizza is most always delivered within the time stated. I've been ordering from here since 1993. But I have noticed many differences over the years. Pizza can be hit or miss and they're not really consistent. Crusts seem to have gotten more like cardboard, not flaky like others have stated. Salads I've ordered are generally sitting on a thin layer of water - what ever happened to the salad spinner? The lasagna used to be outstanding (again, a matter of taste) but portions have gotten smaller and a lot 'saucier'. Chicken tends to be over cooked and on the dry side. Seems the prices are a bit on the high side also considering what you get. I ordered a pizza last night and it was one of the worst pizzas I've had in a long time. Tasted like they forgot to add spices to the sauce. It was OK reheated after I added my own garlic, oregano and basil, but it would have been much better if incorporated into the sauce rather than added to the top. I'll probably order from them again at a much later date (when I've all but forgotten my recent experiences) but the quality of products seems to have gone downhill from many years ago. Best stuffed pizza I've ever had. Italian sausage is the only topping you need. The crust is golden and flakey, the cheese is gooey, and the sauce is heavy and thick. Yes, the pizza sauce is what sets the pizza apart. Instead of being runny, it's thick - tomato paste consistency - and it's sweetened with brown sugar. Yes, it's very sweet, but most pizza sauce is loaded with white sugar -- which is milder and harder to taste. So to act like you're gonna get a cavity from eating this specific pizza is pretty hilarious. LOL to the review that says they use "sweet cheese." Yes the sauce is sweet- that is what makes it amazing! It tastes different than any other pizza place out there. Incredible. When I was away at college, I would buy 6 of these pizzas at a time and bring them down with me frozen. You can't find anything like it ANYWHERE. Keep doing what you are doing, Arrenellos!
