I made an appointment with ARS Rescue Rooter to come out to investigate a water leak that my smart meter had notified me that I had. First issue was there was no way for the dispatch to text me (only call) and because of my work, I can't have my phone on during work hours but I can see texts. I had given them my adult daughter's phone number to call since she was at home, but they kept calling me. When the plumber finally got to my house, he did a quick investigation & said the toilets weren't running so it had to be a water meter issue. I did talk with the plumber on the phone and I asked if it could be the water heater. He said it was impossible for that to be the case because of the amount of the leak was too big. Well, my MUD sent someone out, & the meter was fine. I called ANOTHER plumber from another company - one who would text me- and what do you know?? It was the water heater. I absolutely do not recommend this company at all. So glad I didn't have to trust them to install a water heater. read more

I called them to come out and give me a quote on replacing my outside unit. I was told someone would be out the next day between 9 AM and 11 AM, well that came and went. I called them and they said it would be between one and four, well that also came and went and no one ever called me either time to say we need to reschedule or the guy was running late or we don't want your business or anything, pretty much just straight ghosted me and left me waiting at the house all day. BE WARNED, stay away from these SWINDLERS. "I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT THESE PEOPLE CHARGE!" was the stunned subcontractor's response when I told him how much my bill was. $316 a FOOT, bathroom side $25,000 !! (79 feet) $200 a FOOT, kitchen side $9,162 !! (46 feet) TOTAL $34,162 !! (originally $39,162 -$5,000 for "old age" I was told) These were charges to dig two trenches in sandy soil plus an 18-feet dugout under a bathroom!!  Bathroom side had two 30-inch walkways, kitchen side three 30-inch walkways to go under plus cutting of 8-feet of thin cement. Included is a 27-foot pipe sleeve, price of which should have been approx. $150 per foot max. Subcontractor did all the work ARS did only .0005%. From the time the sleazebag technician arrived using his scare tactics by telling me the sewer line he looked at with his snake-camera "is the worst I have ever seen" to the time the crew arrived was less than 30 minutes. He fooled me by telling and making me believe that it is a very large job because they had to dig under the house to my bricked patio, which of cause, never happened, the outline is still there. When he new he just conned another old lady he said ARS wants the full amount upfront and that he wanted to start immediately.  Within less than 10 minutes the subcontractor with a crew of 7 or 8 arrived and the digging started.  I'm sure he already called them to move closer when he had to go to his truck to "talk to his office".  Only 3 worked, 4 disappeared next day.  All happened so fast that I had no time to think rationally. ARS engages in FALSE and DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING.  A 3-day owner grace period was advertised on their website for the owner to decide if they want the work to go forward. The technician came on a Tuesday but told me to make the check out for Friday which he repeated twice and which I accepted as the "three-day-grace-period" as advertised.  However, when I realized what I really was charged I revisited their website that Wednesday evening to see how their 3-day reprieve was handled only to I discover that it was no longer on their website.  At that time the dugout under the bathroom, which accounted for the major part, was in any event already totally finished (big job?) and there was no way to stop the work without getting lawyers involved which I could not afford and obviously they new it. The call was to check the sewer line and since there was no emergency and absolutely no reason to start IMMEDIATELY the only reason was to make sure their three-day grace scam cannot be honored. They advertise: "....technician....will explain in detail their recommendations". Sad thing is the kitchen side was 100% fine but no advise was offered to me.  There is much much more to this. Why does a company with millions and millions in revenue rip off their clients who put all their trust in them. $39,000 is much more than I ever made in one year working full time for 55 years to save for these last years of my life, only to loose it by trusting one despicable ARS employee.  It is time that the Texas Attorney General look at feedback on Yelp, not Google, and investigate this Houston branch.  Unfortunately for me I read it too late.  Report them also to the BBB, FTC (Burau of Consumer Protection), and every other place you can think off.  DO NOT USE THEM PERIOD!  Just like me, your insurance will not pay a dime. read more

Purchased new tankless water heater on recommendation of sales person in November 2020, first issue 3months later-- without hot water 5 weeks. Second issue one year later, Feb 2022, on going issue about every 3-4 weeks now, Today will be the 4th time they will come out since February. Paid $179 for service call, and then no hot water 3 weeks later. This is a very pricy purchase for us to have perpetual issues with this system that's not 2 years old. The tank we replaced was the ORIGINAL! Lasted 17 years, and now our 1.5 year old system has had 5 service calls. I am beyond disappointed with this company and the service. read more

I called for a outdoor pipe that had frozen over and a shower that was giving out almost no hot water pressure. The technician fixed the outdoor pipe showing it had small leak for 691 dollars... Not sure if that was a fair price but I am a total idiot when it comes to plumbing so I guess it was but It felt high to replace an above ground plastic pipe. The part that really got to me was the technician told me that the shower needed a new cartridge and if I ordered the part online that they would be able to fix it. Well I did order it (was around 70 dollars) and when they came back to fix it the cartridge did nothing. Then they said it was probably a pinched value and that if they took it off the tile they would be able to unpinch it. So they did that and that did not fix anything either. They wanted to charge me for that "repair" but one grumpy stare later and they told me it would be just the cost to come out. Seems unfair to charge me for literally doing nothing other then having me order a expensive part that did not fix the problem at all. Today I looked at it and there is a small leak coming from under the shower area. Took it off myself and one of the intake valves is leaking. When I turn my sink faucet on and off it also rattles the pipe in a not so subtle way although not being a plumber myself I can't really relate the two but it is wonky how it happened right after. So After spending over 800 dollars with this company, 691 of which was to repair a small leak outside for an above ground pipe, and 70 out of my own pocket for a cartridge, I still have no idea what is wrong with my shower. On the invoice it says "Customer supplied cartridge didn't work. Water line on hot side has so much debris that it keeps plugging it." Not sure if that is actually a fair assessment considering they didn't take off said water line to check and if that was the problem why didn't they just do that I wonder? All in all totally unsatisfied and not any more trusting of plumbers. read more

I called them 12 in the afternoon that my water heater is out and I am scared because it is making noises they gave me slot from 2 to 6 nobody came and no one called I called them 3 times and they said they will me back no one did then they called me around 6.41 to let me know they cannot send anyone out thier today because the technician is busy . I called because one of our 4 year old AC was not working, 2 men came out (one of them was being trained), on Monday they went to the side of the house to diagnose both of my AC's. They quoted me 2000.00 to replace 2 capacitor's, 2 compressor savers and 2 surge protectors oh and if I signed up to be in their club for 25.00 a month it would only cost me 1700.00. My husband and I have worked very hard for everything we have so throwing away 2000.00 is not an option, WE GOT A 2nd OPINION. So first of all I went from one AC not working to 2 AC's not working so my husband and I stayed in a hotel for night because we couldn't get any one out to look at it till the next day, and if you live in the Houston area you know the August heat is no joke. Bottom line is we got it fixed for 150.00 by another company and definitely did not need all the extras that he was trying charge me. My complaint is due in part to lack of follow up to a concern. I had a water heater replaced 9/15 & the technician knowingly installed a damaged appliance. The dent is superficial but a dent nonetheless. I did not receive a call prior to installation nor has anyone responded to the 2 calls I made to discuss the issue. I paid more for the unit than I should have but that was okay b/c I agreed to pay it & scheduled the work to be done. Be Aware!!! Extreme pricing!!! My water company alerted us to a tiny leak coming from the toilet in our second bathroom. They advised that it was the flush valve causing the leak. We decided to have ARS replace it for us. The service guy was very nice and professional. The issue was they quoted us $330 to replace and install a $20-$30 part! We told them NO THANKS! I then called their offices and asked them if they could offer customers some sort of pre-quote because this was a total waste of our time. They said well we don't know what we may have to repair. But I told them my water company made the assessment, so before sending someone out they could have said for that work it's going to cost approximately $300-$350 or something like that. Then, I can make an informed decision to seek an alternative solution. Can you say, RIP OFF! And these auto-replies from ARS are phony and misleading. Gas line leak. The first repair didn't actually repair anything and then they left the plumbers gauge on my line so when Centerpoint showed up, they couldn't start the gas and now I am waiting another 4 days to get the gas back on. It just was not a good experience. read more

I used this company for my air conditioner tune up. It was around $50 or $60. The tech they sent out was friendly and knowledgable. He was very detailed. I'd request same tech every year if I could. Had no issues with air conditioner, just annual maintenance as required by most home owners warranties. Definitely would use their services again and recommend. read more

We have used ARS in past. We keep all receipts for records on our home. We have had ARS come out to (snake) our kitchen sink before and it had cost $49 dollars at that time. This past week we were charged, for the same service (clogged sink), $322! Then the technician sends another tech over to send a camera down to check our pipes. Now we get a quote of over $16K for pipes that will possibly break in the future. My husband tells the technician he wants to take the quote to our family member to verify if the quote is legitimate as they have the same equipment, explaining we don't like taking advantage of our family, and the technician got upset about our wanting to seek a 2nd opinion. The technician then stated he wanted to speak to me (wife), since my husband was who he was dealing with and my husband was refusing services. After the technicians left, we found that they had not tightened any of the pipes, and we had water leaking all under the sink. My husband, who is disabled, had to tighten all of the pipes himself. The service guy Mr. Fuentes arrived and immediately start talking about money before even setting an eye on my unit. He was rude and customer service not good at all. We noticed our drains would gurgle when the washing machine was draining. We figured the sewer was clogged and called ARS to snake it. They arrived early the next morning and were very professional and knowledgeable. They determined the sewer line had roots in it via camera in the pipe. I signed a contract to have the pipe replaced, and was told the work would be completed that same day. That is where the professionalism and knowledge ended. ARS prides themselves on sending out uniformed employees in marked trucks, and that was true for the original call out. But the people actually doing my sewer repair showed up without a uniform, in an unmarked truck. Not a big deal, as long as they do good work, but they did not. They crudely repaired my sewer line with way too many fittings (originally had 1 fitting and now has 5) and none of the pipes were square. Cigarette butts were scattered across the work site. Icing on the cake was the "same day repair" turned into a 3 day repair, leaving an open sewer line in my front yard for days. I expressed my concern with the quality of the repair and the foreman had a different crew come out and attempt to mitigate the issues, but all he did was slightly improve the mess. Long story short, I paid big name company price and received Craigslist quality work. read more

ARS is a very large company that deals in just about any kind of home repair, from plumbing to AC repair and installation.  Their repair personnel, installers and technicians are some of the best.  HOWEVER, if you like paying from 200% to 1000% more than most companies charge, then they are for you.  That 1000% figure is from personal experience.   I was charged $375 for a part that I learned later retailed for $35.  To add a little salt to my wounds the part, a surge protector, wasn't even needed.  During the same service call, the repairman replaced a capacitor on my AC unit, adding another $350 to the bill.  And guess what it retailed for?  $48 at W.W.Graingers.  The unit was under warrenty but he said a power surge caused it and wouldn't be covered.  After over a month calling and arguing with the company, they finally refunded the cost of the capacitor but refused to admit the surge protector was not needed nor over priced.  I'll never let these crooks anywhere near my property again. read more

Sewer line collapsed and needed replacing. Very poor communication throughout. Plus after they completed the work we discovered TWO gas leaks that needed to be found by centerpoint and repaired! Sloppy and dangerous. Now I have to file an insurance claim (it is covered under our homeowners). Albert, our plumber, has had the form for more than a week and has not completed it or returned my calls or texts. He was very responsive until I actually paid the bill - now nothing. I have left messages for Albert, Customer Service, a "Supervisor" and the General manager - I have called every day for a week, and NO ONE is returning my calls! I am out $6,000 and no claim form and no response. At some point this may go to attorneys, but so unnecessary. It is a 1 page form! Read the reviews on this page! If at all possible do not use ARS! I would not recommend these guys to anyone not even my enemies. First of all they promised me that I would get a fee of $180.00 service charge waived if I went ahead with a $1200.00 job. I asked and they denied it. The tech shows up and has no parts so he leaves for another 45 minutes. He finally shows up again and he asks for the gas shutoff and I pointed it out to him. He asked if I had a tool to cut it off with, so I loaned him a crescent wrench. He completes the job and continues to try to sale me a long term maintenance contract which I refused. In all the haggling he leaves and later in the day I noticed we had no hot water. I get another company to come out and they noticed my hot water heater is not heating water since the gas was cut off earlier and the pilot does not restart. Don't expect decent customer service or fair prices. I called several days in advance of work I needed so that it could all be done on a day I had off from work. I then called the day before to again discuss what I wanted and confirm it would be done. I was then told they couldn't discuss work because the last advisor had been there 45 days ago not 30 "per state law" Nonetheless they agreed all work would be done the following day. When the tech showed up at 11 he told me it would be the next day at which point I told him to play the recorded conversation. They agreed to do the work then. The workers showed up at 3pm - and it's now 9 and they are still here. This is why I called several times and set up an appointment in advance - so that I wouldn't have workers here at 9pm when I leave for work at 6am. I literally asked for an appointment on a day when they could complete all the work and I didn't care if that meant a week or two away. This company is awful for so many reasons but this is a big one. read more

RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED! They just quoted me $1,960.35 to replaced a traditional 40 gal hot water heater...and THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THE HEATER! That's just the labor! They were nearly TRIPLE the price of three other quotes I received; I ended up going with a plumber found on Home Advisor who has been in business for 35 years, and has a 5 star review. Be careful when you work with this company! This is not about the repair/service man. It is about the company's inventory price. Today, I have an A/C compressor down and the ARS service man visited my house (he is an nice and kind man) and he found out the burned capacitator in the compressor outside, and he said to me that it needs to be replaced with a new one. He also told me that the company's price for the new capacitator is $401 and he has the inventory in the car. I approved it and immediately after the replacement, the A/C runs. After he left, I have checked the price of the A/C capacitator online and notice that its actual price ranges from $10 to $40, felt completely ripped off. I do not think that ARS should charge $10 to $40 for it. However, we should be able to trust the company and its service and product price since we, customers, are not an expert for all parts. His visit fee $79 is waived since I have purchased its service with $401. I would like to share this unbelievable story with the potential customers and wish you to be aware of the potential risk/rip-off when you work with the ARS in the future. read more

I had a brand HOVAC unit put in and it has broken down 4 times. And customer service has been hell to deal with. Not along the 3 times they said that they were coming and never showed up. On the 4th time they finally showed up and fixed it. The first time it broke down it had only been working for about 2 or 3 weeks. Then the 2nd time they fixed the unit it worked for a month before it stopped working. Then the 3rd time they fixed it it only worked for 2 weeks. And I am waiting for them to come out and fix it for the 4th time. It has been nothing but hell since I had my AC done by ARS Rescue Rooters. I would not refer this company to anyone. Sure all the technicians are nice but what good is that if they put in a band new unit that continues to break down. I am beyond disappointed in this company. About a year ago, ARS installed a new furnace and AC unit in our home. Installation was timely and no problems but that's where the good service ends. They are horrible at providing ongoing customer service. Last Monday (June 3), we had an appointment for an AC tune-up. Received a call that no one would be coming because too many technicians called off work. The appointment was rescheduled to Friday, June 7 between 8:00 a.m. and noon. It was then rescheduled for the same day between noon and 4:00 p.m. At 4:20 p.m., we called to see if someone was still coming. The woman who answered the phone was rude and said someone would be coming but she didn't know when. At 5:30 p.m., we called to cancel the appointment. Wasted a whole day without getting the AC tune-up. At 7:30 p.m., the technician rang the doorbell and was only then informed that the appointment had been canceled. He said that no one told him. We really felt badly for him -- I'm sure he had a long day and didn't need to have his time wasted either. So, they don't care about their customers and, obviously, they don't care about their employees either. read more

I have nothing good to say about ARS. I thought Home Depot would send me in the right direction, but obviously, I was wrong. 1 - Most of the time, I schedule an appointment, they never show up, don't notify me in any way, and don't call to reschedule. They are very unprofessional and don't care about your time. 2 - When they do come finally, all they do is push a new sale. For example, we called for an issue with the installed thermostat, and the guy the entire time was trying to sell a surge protector (so the system doesn't fry). So it makes me realize even more how much I was ripped off during the sale of my a/c unit. 3 - I have a one year warranty, which, at this point, I don't know what it is good for. The thermostat issue they tried to charge me, and when I called for a tune up. They don't seem to ever know I have a warranty until I keep pushing it. 4 - They overcharge and take advantage of their customers, especially vulnerable ones. DO NOT TRUST that they have your best interest at heart. They tell you that you need actually unneeded things, just to increase their sales, profits, and commissions. It appears they live off sales/commissions. For sure, if you're being told you need a new HVAC system or even larger parts to the system, I recommend going elsewhere for recommendations, price quotes, and hell the service, too. I wish I had checked Yelp. Another review site gave them a 4.7 rating, but clearly it's not accurate. ARS was very quick to send someone out to look at our water heater. Even though some parts were under warranty, they convinced us that the whole unit should be replaced because troubleshooting could take a long time. We have a young baby and really needed hot water so we decided to purchase a new unit. Two weeks later, we have no hot water again and there is an error message about control panel failure. They assured us Friday night that someone would look at it on Saturday, turned out to be a no show. Same thing happened Sunday and Monday. At this point, I'm going to have to try to do a credit card chargeback or bring a lawsuit and just have a new company install a new tank because it seems like this tank is defective or was installed incorrectly. We have called them over 20 times and just keep getting the same runaround that someone will call us back with technician ETA, but we never receive a call back and then the repair windows comes and goes.
