Although the technicians that visit the house were very professional, the company's overall customer service is very poor. I had a sewer problem that was identified, agreed to the charges and was assured the job would be done in a timely manner. To take your payment they are very friendly, and are quick to run your credit card, but the company cannot provide you with any updates on what is going on with the repairs. It took half a day of calling their main (advertise) number for someone to finally provide with the "customer satisfaction" person phone number. VERY RUDE person, no customer service oriented at all. A customer should not be the one calling the company to know what is going on with the progress of the work. If you expect for the customers to refer you to their friends or family, this should be address not to me but as a whole. The bigger the company the less they care for their customers. ARS is a very organized well run company that employs professionals across the board. My AC went out and when I tried to fix it using my home warranty company, what should have been a quick fix became a long nightmare. I was scheduled with technicians that didn't show up to their appointment. When I demanded another one, he was rude and unprofessional, and pressuring me to replace my unit when he hadn't done a full inspection! I finally went to Home Depot and thankfully they work with actual professionals and ARS was sent to my home. I got a full inspection, explanation of my system and all the ways I which I could improve it. I even got my new condenser installed the very same day!! read more

They assured us that they would arrive between 2pm - 6pm, so we took time off from work to be sure that someone would be there to meet them. We even called before the 2pm and confirmed the appointment. In addition we called at 4pm and again at 5pm to make sure we were still on the schedule and they assured us we were but said the number they had for us was not working. On both occasions we gave them the correct number. We called again at 6pm and was told the technician was on his way but was "stuck in traffic but he would arrive at 8:30! but... they assured us he WAS ON THE WAY". Nope. Had an issue with the AC going out so I contacted ARC. I was hesitant at first due to seeing some negative reviews on yelp but if you are reading this and are skeptical, reconsider. I had an AC tech come out and inform me the issue was plumbing related. He put in a referral for a plumber from ARC and they sent Jake out by the end of the day. Jake was extremely polite and understanding. He answered my questions and educated me on what had caused the issue and how to perform preventative maintenance. The pricing was a little high but well worth it for the professionalism. Due to the level of service I received during this time, I fully intend on contacting ARS for any future needs. read more

After many years I still give them a zero and want my story to never be forgotten. This company is horrible and every time I see their trucks around town I wonder who else will be getting ripped off. The family member they left without water so many years ago has passed away but I promised I would warn others never to use ARS. I wish I would not had paid them but I didn't know any better. Now I would have told them to send me to court over payment and would have told them to get off my property or face trespassing charges but back then I didn't know. While looking over hot water heaters at the local home improvement store, I was approached by a rep stating he represented a contractor that works with Home Depot Home Services. He signed me up to have someone come out & get an estimate done. "Jimmy Castaneda" with ARS came out & did the estimate that was pretty much JUST a price. Not an itemized price. He stated that they don't do itemized estimates & that he wouldn't be able to tell me how much I'd be charged for the water heater, labor or other other items such as hoses, the pan, etc. Little did I know that when he went up to the attic to look at the current water heater, he lessened the temperature of heat that the water would be heated to. What an a****le! I didn't know til hours later when I needed to use hot water. It was working fine til he went up there! Either way...this is your sign to get a few ITEMIZED estimates from different companies and then make a decision. I went with a different company, they gave me an itemized estimate that included a leak detection sensor and an automatic emergency shut off that was a few hundred LESS than what ARS had quoted me. read more

Rescheduled AC Tune up service 3 times after 2 no shows , would not recommend service

Wish I would have checked the reviews before using this company. In March I had them come out to do an inspection on my ac unit. Four months later, the condensate line clogged and flooded my house. When I called to tell them my problem, they admitted that the tech had not flushed the line. I told the person who answered the phone I wanted a refund and she told me the customer service representative would call me back. I called on Friday and today is Tuesday and no call back. Two bedrooms, a bathroom and the breakfast room are without drywall and two rooms have the carpet ripped out. So far, I am out $6800 for the repair of the condensate line and the deductible on my insurance. It will take a couple of months before my house is repaired. I will tell the insurance company about ARS. Don't use this company. They don't care about my problem! read more

They are a bunch of liars and are the worst service around. Do NOT use them. Just like a lot of other people in Texas we were hit by the Winter Blizzard. I immediately called them when my water pipes burst and they said they will send someone out to see me the next day. I understood that they will be busy, so the next day was fine. The next day came and went, so I called for an update the following morning. The later on the phone was rude and said I am on the list and they will see me as soon as they can. She was yelling at me when I was not even yelling at her. Another day came and went. And then I called again for another update. This time, at least she was honest and said there were 2,000 others on the list besides me. I asked how many days and she said, "I don't know, it can be a few days." You see, that did not bother me because now she was being honest instead of lying to me. Three days pass and I finally got a call back from ARS. I thought they were going to see me, finally. But, all they asked was if I still needed service. I said, yes, then they hung up after telling me it will be longer. A couple of days pass by and then they call again. And then all they asked was if I still needed service. Now understand, this entire time I was living in a hotel because I had no water. I said, yes, I am still waiting. She was rude on the phone saying they were still busy. I have not been rude at all, but she was really testy on the phone. After that, they never called again. No service, nothing. Had a new unit installed on 6/13. Since then we have had numerous issues. We've had technicians come at 3 times a week, each week! they sent a plumber by accident, then put in a new ticket for the correct tech to come out- another plumber showed up. The emergency drain was pouring water onto our deck because they tied two lines into one smaller one. They "accidentally" connected the water heater instead of the furnace! We had an appointment yesterday and today- both days were a no show! I left a message on the corporate voicemail, no return call. Each time we call they say they'll have customer satisfaction call us- they never call! Filed a BBB complaint- no one responded! ARS is the subcontractor for Lowes in Houston to install hot water heaters. . The job I requested was to replace an existing 40 gallon tall that was just old , but working fine. This was a non emergency at your convenience job , easy install job. No barriers or obstacles. ARS rep came out to our house. Quote in my living room -1.7K for labor only. Told the rep it was speechl and he said he would put a quote in writing. Interesting the quote sent on email was for $1495 labor, not including the tank. Really , Really? For a two hour install? Found a reputable family owned plumbing company on Angi's list. Quote $700. for labor. Some were lower then that. You do the math, that's $1000 less then ARS . I was shocked that Lowes allows ARS to actively service thier customers. Shame on both companies . Try a fair market quote to your next customer. read more

Sewer was backing up into toilets, showers, and flooded bathroom and study. Called to have sewer drain line augered and camera to see what problem was. Technician snaked and used camera and said cast iron pipe had collapsed 16 feet from clean out and best bet would be to spray in a liner in pipe and to continue until it connects with the cities PVC line at the easement. He quoted $12,928!!! And $20,000 to install liner through out drain in entire home. I trusted my gut and called another plumber and he snaked it and used camera. He went 37 feet in and did not see any collapsed pipe and snake found an old cleaning rag and various other gunk clogging line. Whole house is back and flowing well for $358 not $12,928-$20,000!!! Total scam salesman not a true technician. Run from these con artists. This is flat out fraudulent behavior. Total trash and a disservice to the community. How many people have they scammed out of thousands of dollars?? ARS please call I would love to talk to you about your disservice and request a refund of my trip fee. My newest system is a Carrier installed several years ago. I have had at least 2 major issues with the system that have cost 100s. I just had my full system replaced. Compressor, furnace, evaporator coil and all. Those vans don't come out for a $300.00 fix. Those technicians sole mission is to up sell and install full systems nothing else nothing more. This has been the worst experience... Of note, I would never have used this company based on the poor reviews alone, however, it was who Home Depot contracts to install their appliances. So here we are. To sum things up, they failed to install my water heater autoshut off valve properly. Needless to say it failed. I had to call them out exactly one year to the day of installation to have them come fix the defective valve. I called in the AM to make an appointment, I was promised they would be at my home within 4 hours. 10 hours later they called to say they were on their way, by this time it was nearing 2200. Once the plumber shows up, he says the problem is that the auto shut off valve was installed incorrectly the first time. So here I am paying a premium price for an "after hours" appointment (even though I had called well ahead of time) for something that they failed to do right the first time. Next, day I call to speak to management about the absurd 2200 "after hours" call and that fact that they failed to live up to their customer service guarantee. I was never connected to a "customer service manager." I have since called back 4 times. No avail. I would never work with this company however, again, it's who Home Depot contracted. Poor experience. Funny thing is the plumber actually documented on paper the problem was their fault to begin with. Word of advice, pick a different company. Purchased a Ductless Split Unit System from ARS and had them install it. I couldn't be happier with the product and service. Yoanni and Andy showed up as scheduled and did a great job. They were respectful of my property and pets, and made sure to go over the basic functions of the remote and answer any questions I had. I did have to call the next day since the owners manual refers to the users manual, which the manufacturer neglected to include, and Miguel was quick to respond to my request. This my first time doing business with ARS and I found them to be very customer oriented. I am pleased to find a company that provides so many services, and I fully intend to call on them again. read more

Called ARS as we were having a problem with our sensors in the upstairs registering the temperature. We have a trane system that is less than 4 years old. The tech came in and did a 5 minute check and tells us the entire system has to be replaced and quoted 4k. He stated that we needed a simpler system like Nest pro. We then called a certified trane tech to come out from a competitor who told us ARS' advice was 100% incorrect and there was only a single part that needed to be replaced, charging us a fraction of the ARS' quote. Further, the certified trane tech stated that our system was not even compatible with Nest pro and if we changed the thermostat out we would have to spend thousands unnecissarily rewiring. All and all the ARS tech was exceedingly unprofessional and seemed to only want to offer a high quote for services and then leave. At no time did he seem interested in actually helping. ARS representative plumber technician Walter Ochoa did a good job on being able to get me set up with a water valve. My Frigidaire refrigerator ( 30 years old) had to replaced. I brought another Frigidaire. This has an ice maker. Ochoa also replaced plumbing outside my house ( the main water system to be able to run through the house).ARS ,thank you for sending Mr. Ochoa. ARS was very attentive to my needs. They provided different options to replace my ac. I shopped around and the other companies tried to sell a whole new system. Their prices were much higher than competitors, but once I shared quotes from other companies, they matched the price. The repair technicians scratched the door frames and walls, but after reporting the damages, they responded promptly and scheduled the repairs within a day. The clean up work was done to my liking. NEVER use this company. The technicians diagnosed the wrong unit, which I trusted them and cost me $3000 for labor to replace some parts under warranty. I am not an AC expert, and they asked me to prepay them, which I was ok with and the cost too because I wanted my AC fixed, but they cheated me. They pulled a red wire from my good unit which was working just fine, to then say my unit suddenly died, and took my good parts away and replaced it with other new parts, while the original problem with the second unit, which is the reason why I called them in the first place, still exists. I went with ARS because I thought it was a big name and they had a good reputation. I had bad experiece with rhe AC department I had the compressor coils outside cleaned ans was charged 650 for a 4 hour job The management Would call back about the rate but they never did I called several times but was not connected with management. The worse part was that the mechanic while inspecting the attic, disconnected a duct hose from a unit in the attic which caused cooling the attic and the outside air instead of the house. Absolutely the worst experience with a business we have ever had. Called for service of a possible main line issue based on the advertised price and free camera inspection. Was advised of a 4 hour time frame in the evening so took the rest of the day off from work to be available during those times. Technician arrived at the end of the time (almost 8pm) to only advise he did not have the equipment to inspect and could not preform service but would have someone scheduled first thing the following day (8am). I took the following day off to address the issue once again. At 10am I still had not seen a tech or received a call so I called. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes I was advised that all techs were tied up but someone would be at my home by noon. At 11:45 I was called and advised they were running behind and would be about an hour longer. By 1pm still no one at which time I called again only to sit on hold another 10 minutes. The dispatcher finally advised that everyone was tied up on a commercial job and would be there the remainder of the day, but would reschedule for Sunday 8am (another day to take off from work). Today (Sunday 9/13/20), I had yet to see or hear from anyone by 10am so called once again. After another 10 minute hold I was asked if anyone had discussed pricing with me (which they had not). The representative then indicated that it would be $400 some odd dollars for them to respond on a Sunday and their advertised pricing did not cover weekends. So, you put me off till a weekend in attempt to extort more money from a customer who has taken 2-1/2 days off from work due to your poor scheduling? I think not! I called for a gas plumbing repair and I was offered a service plan that provided zero diagnostic fee and 10% off services. The receipt listed only a $200 Diagnostic Fee which was charged to my credit card. When I called to inquire about why the actual service provided was not listed and why they either did not waive the diagnostic fee or give me 10% off the charge, I was told it would take 10-14 days for them to look into the matter. They sent a corrected invoice which stated that the service charge was $200, but I never received the $20 discount and it has been over a month now. read more

AVOID ARS/RESCUE ROOTER OF HOUSTON!!!!!! We called ARS for issues with main drain and a/c being clogged on August 9th. We were charge $350 for fixing the issue. At least we thought, it was fixed. On August 16th, the kitchen drain was clogged. So we called to report the issue. The same technician, Brandon came back out but wanted to charge an additional $200 to unclog. Being an elderly couple on fixed income, we cannot and will not pay extra for any service that should have been performed initially. We thought the kitchen drain is connected to the main line. Brandon stated we should have told him to check the kitchen line. But, as a plumber, he should have known and informed us! So, we refused to have him complete a job that should have been done initially. We called another plumbing and the confirmed this issue could have been solved on the initial visit when the main line was checked. They also charged less the $100 to complete the job. They had much better communication and customer service than Brandon and ARS. In his own words, Brandon wrote in his completion notes: "Attempted to explain drain system to customer...that the kitchen line was an independent line till it tyes(sp)into main..." So, if it ties into the main line, Brandon should have seen this problem on the initial visit. Avoid using this company!!!! read more

I will say that they were very professional and responsive. However, I can't recommend their work. After charging a $99 diagnostic fee, it was recommended that I replace my entire furnace, given the quote to repair my issue with my current furnace was almost $2K. Bunch of freakin' crooks!! The only reason I had them come over was because they're open on Sunday and my A/C was struggling. Techs were on time and did a thorough inspection. I paid the $90 service fee and later that day they sent over a "Comfort Advisor" to inspect my system. He advised me to replace the entire air handler and re-route some ducting to increase efficiency. Sounds well enough, but he quoted $7400 for a new handler and duct work. $17000 to replace the outside condenser with it - both Carrier systems. Also, the techs that came out and checked the freon level said it was 4 lbs. low and wanted almost $900 just to recharge. I had another tech come out today and topped my system with only 2 lbs. of freon and quoted $3800 for a RUUD attic unit; much, much fairer. I paid him $180 for the service fee and recharge. I should be okay for the summer until I can decide what to do. Avoid Rescue Rooter and always get more than one opinion. read more
