The ARS annual inspection service is overpriced and totally devoted to trying to sell you new products. These products are allegedly offered at a discount, but trust me, they are selling them at full price. I firmly believe that they are preying on innocent homeowners, and perhaps especially on single women, to sell unneeded products and services. I am cancelling my contract with ARS and going with Texas Comfort Air, a local small business recommended by a friend who uses that company for home and rental property. Their advertisements are lies. The company is not at all reliable. I scheduled an appointment several days ago and they called me later to cancel and tell me it had to be rescheduled because the technician was unable to come out. I rescheduled for tonight, 12/15/2017, and they told me it would be between 6 PM and 10 PM. I have waited all of this time and it is now 10 PM and nobody showed up. This is ridiculous. And none of theircustomer service reps or dispatch seems to know what the heck is going on. As an update, I called back at 11 pm on 12/15/2017 to get an explanation. The dispatch women said shed check into why no one showed and call me back. I never heard from her again. I called at 10 am the next day and asked for a manager. I was told the plumbing manager was not there so I asked for any manager. I was then told that the manager that was there was not in the warehouse and would call me back. That was 3 days ago. Juan come out to our house to unclog the sewer line. He told us that he would not go in through the manhole, which was necessary, and that we could call another company. I had tune-up service done by ARS. the tech came and from the start tried to scare me that thee is a problem. he recommended replacement of whole unit for around $8K. for repairs/maintenance he would chanrge $3K. I called another company and he said all I need is maintenance and would cost $500. Also had my boilrer checked by same tech. one of my pilots was off. he said he needs to replace stuff around $600. I called a plumber and he just turned on!! there is no issue with system. On the other boiler (I have two), there is some rusting on the top of the boiler. he made it sound lie a scary thing and said there is a problem with boiler and it needs to be replaced! i checked it myself and the rusting is on the top which has nothing to do with inside boiler. i am glad I took second opinion. We recently installed a new 16 seer AC unit spending over $15K. As a result we have a service agreement with ARS. We noticed some water flowing out of drains more than normal and called ARS to come check it out. We were told that our 2 ton Frigidaire unit was toast and would need to spend $7,500 on a new unit. I had not checked on my warranty on the 9 year old unit but did so before they arrived to install the new unit. Upon contacting Nordyne I was informed that I was still under warranty and I should tell ARS I was not ready for them. Upon contacting the warranty contractor we learned that it was not a serious problem but a clogged drain line which the contractor blew out for $330. So I am not sure whether the ARS guy was incompetent or deceitful. In either case, I will be more careful in the future with them. read more

AC stopped working on Saturday, July 30th. Called ARS and set an appointment for Sunday. They no showed. Rescheduled for next day. Tech came out and said contractors and capacitor needed to be replaced. Parts were still covered by warranty. Quoted $976 for labor, tech told me less than 2 hours. Told him no. New repair company came out said I needed refrigerant and he filled us up. Units been working ever since without replacing the parts identified by ARS. Since then, zero follow through as I wait for a return call. Avoid ARS like the plague. read more

We had a brake in our water line by the main, I called ARS at 7AM, they said join our service plan for $2 a month and you won't be charged the service call of $79.95 so I said sure. Appointment set for between 10AM and 2PM, I got a call at 3PM saying tech will be there between 45minutes and an hour. Tech showed up at 7PM, told me it'll be $210 just to dig the hole. The pipe had come lose from a union. He fixed it and then told me the Bill was $775. I almost flipped. Total rip off. I wished I would have looked up their reviews befor I called. When the technician got here he claimed he didnt have the correct part to fit in my drain and perform the service but, he was going to do a "better" service at the "same" price of $305. I promptly sent him packing! First off, why would a reputable company send him out without the proper tools to do his job? Now I've done sales for 15 years. Based on his body language and confidence telling me these things. I could tell he was lying to me. It's nothing but a bait and switch and a company that tries to gain business with sneaky tactics like this deserves to fail and be forgotten. Honestly I don't write reviews but after trying to get a quote for a new AC unit and getting a horrible tech, I had to write one. I had one of their techs by the name Christopher Burks come and look at my unit since meeting him I got a weird vibe and I wasn't mistaken. He was very aggressive and condescending since he introduced himself. He was trying to push for a sale very aggressively and was turning red and mad when I told him that I had to think about it although I only told him that because before trying to close the deal he was like how do you know you need an ac unit which I told him I had done my research and I wasn't stupid. He kept saying that I didn't even know if I qualified for a new ac unit and that I had to run my credit. I kept insisting that I know my credit is good. I stay on top of it almost everyday and hence how I bought my house. I had to tell him to leave my house three times and he didn't. I called early in the morning to schedule an appointment for a clogged bathtub drain. They scheduled me for same day between 1-4 pm. I took off of work to be home for the plumber. At 4:45 no one had showed up or called. I called the service number and was told they would contact dispatch and get an ETA. At 5:45 I called again because I still had not heard from anyone. At 6:08 I received a call from the plumber giving me his ETA which was 45 minutes. He immediately started complaining about the far drive. Their website was advertising a $69 drain special. He asked me what the problem was and I explained that my children's bathtub wasn't draining. He asked if the toilets and other plumbing was working correctly and I informed him that is was. He asked again if the toilet in that restroom was flushing and I told him yes. He then informed me during his complaining that the job would start at $315.00 and asked if I still wanted him to come. By his attitude and complaining I felt as though he was trying to highball the price so he could go home for the night and get his weekend started. I will never call this company for any issues. I called them during the week there were no special circumstances. I even told them w what the problem was the system was new but the fluctuation in the electric grid blew the capacitor. Which is a 20 to 30 Dollar part that was covered under warranty. They charged me 378 dollars to verify my suspicions. And the entire visit took 28 minutes from the time he arrived until the time he left which included the time he was in his truck looking for the part and the time it took to run my credit card through his call in system. I told them drainage for new commercial build out. they got my address wrong and I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for them to show up just to find out that the tech was water heater man. Jonathan came out to help me with an issue I was having when another plumber (different company) installed a tankless water heater for me. He checked everything and made sure the settings were correct and resolved some of the noise the new tankless was making. He also explained how tankless works and that getting rid of all the noise was nearly impossible but showed me ways to have it only trigger at minimal times. I was ready to go back to tanked water heater but he calmed me down and explained the tankless lasts longer and will ultimately save me money in the long run. I'm planning on using his services again to install some water conditioning devices. He mentioned that these could help the noise but mainly would reduce maintenance and ensure water coming out of any house fixture functioned better. That's why I'd recommend ARS and Jonathan in particular because he knows his stuff. It's no fun hiring 2 plumbers to do one water heater install correctly so don't always go with the cheapest offer at the start like I did. Go with ARS first read more

Do not do business with this establishment. The double speak and circle talk is astounding. The customer is not right; you will be argued with and if you have a complaint, the customer service line connects you to voicemail. Nearly everyone I spoke with contradicted the other rep and/or lied about their work and their guarantees. We called for our kitchen and washer clog. They have a special that is $69 for main line unclog. We were told if it wasn't the main line there would be an extra fee. They snaked the outside, then checked the kitchen sink and washer. Said the clog was resolved and also said there was a 30 day warrantee. Next day our kitchen sink is clogged. Different technician arrives and says it will cost $324 to unclog. Says the first technician's work is guaranteed, but he has a different diagnosis and there will be a charge. When the first technician arrives again at our house- third visit- third time I've taken off work, he says we never called about our kitchen sink or washer. If you are having issues with your HVAC, especially this summer and with this heat and your unit is older than 10 years, do not call ARS to service it. The primary goal of this company is to sell you a new unit. I called this company to service my unit because they were the one that installed it more than 10 years expecting reasonable charges. My unit was working fine and suddenly the compressor stopped starting. The first thing that the tech, who supposedly is a supervisor, did was go to the attic to check the furnace. He took pictures and when he came down and showed me the pictures which showed rust on the drain pan. Without h checking the compressor, he told me that I needed a new unit. I asked him how much the price of a new unit and he told me it was expensive. I cannot afford a new unit which I told him and he told me that my cost to repair my unit was $1500.00. I did not have any other option than have him repair the unit. He finished the repair and the final charge was $1477.00. Later on the day I receive copy of the invoice and the $1477 included the install of a capacitor ($301), a hard start ($488) and 2+ lbs of refrigerant for the amount of $684 which I don't think is was needed ( the unit was cooling ok before braking). After warning me that my unit may last probably not too much, he quoted me a new 3 ton unit for a base price of $17,000+. There is a saying that says "Of the fallen tree the whole world makes firewood". I felt insulted and abused by this company. If you have a need to call a company to service your HVAC, call an independent tech or your known company but do not call ARS, you will be ripped off. read more

My experience was not a good one. I paid over 9K for a new unit and I was told everything with my AC issues would be fixed. Brian Malancuk ensured me everything would be working properly. That was false information. After they installed the new unit I had to change the filters. All of the filters were dirty except one looked brand new. I told Brian there isn't any air flowing in or out of that vent. He went upstairs & noticed that the box was not connected so no airflow was going in or out to my baby's room and my guest bedroom. He said the techs must've missed this so he will comeback with a tech or he'll do it himself. That was a lie because he stopped communicating with me & never came back!! It's terrible spending so much money with a company just to feel taken advantage of. I literally have him on my doorbell camera saying the other tech would come over later & fix it. These are the type of companies to avoid because after the sale is finally they don't care. The tech that came before him (Jorge) was nice, so I don't want to blame the company as a whole but Brian lies to customers & that doesn't reflect good on ARS. I waited all day for them to show up, even way beyond my "scheduled block of time" and then I called them at 5 pm. After talking with three people to find out the status, the third one had the audacity to tell me that they were going to have to reschedule for another day. Aug. 9, ARS technician Raymong Adame came to my condo to repair a faucet on the bathtub. I agreed to pay $519.00 for the repair although I knew it was excessive. The repair itself was satisfactory and I paid by credit card. After Adame left he sent an invoice to my email address. The invoice showed that the bill was $1083.00 and I had paid $519.00 and owed $554.00. I have tried without success to get this corrected. My reccomendation is to use another company. read more

I am sorry to say that installation And service support are mediocre at best! (since we paid more to ARS company then paid for the water tank itself!) Even right now we have a small gas leak that can be smelled coming from around the pilot. We have called ARS few times on 02/23/2021 and informed them of the problem, but no response yet! Got a call from ARS Rescue Rooter around 5pm advising they would not be able to make it out and wanted to reschedule for the next day (today), same window of 4-8pm, not a problem. I took off work a bit early, called in around 5:30pm after no word just to make sure they were still coming today, and was told that yes they would definitely be coming by today but it would be after 7pm. At 7:45pm I received a call to inform me they could not come fix my issue today because they did not have any technicians in the area and would not be able to reschedule for any time tomorrow because they are all booked. I asked them to cancel my job order. I will find someone who follows through on their simple promises. They advertise 24/7 service? Really? This company seems to just be in the business of taking advantage. They were selected to replace my moms ac when it went out because we had a previous hood experience of the. Patching up the old unit. Our ac went out 2 days after my dad passed away. They were quick to come out initially. Took until 10pm for them to have the new unit up and running, came back the next day to replace vents. Internet went out while they were working in the attic, they said nothing was wrong with our internet line in the attic. Had att come out and had to pay to fix the disconnect they caused. They claim they'll reimburse but they now won't respond. We were told by multiple people they would be out 2 days later on Monday to do the insulation. Well Monday came and no one was showing up. We were then lied to by 2 people saying it was because the truck broke down. After continuous calls and transfers turn out there was no broken down truck and they had switched us to the following day. They finally decided to do insulation that day but didn't come out until after 12. They damaged the trim around the attic door which now is causing heat to escape into the hallway and causing condensation on the wall which is damaging it and now causing mold. Once again they claimed now a week ago they'd fix it but no one will return calls. They also left ruts in the yard from driving through part of it. I wish I'd seen these reviews before such a costly job. Believe all the reviews you read and do not use them. read more

We called ARS, explain the situation, and was told they would call when the plumber was on his way. Waited for an hour, called again, and this time was told they will call back with an ETA. 45min after, we are still waiting on ARS to confirm the service call and provide an ETA. Service tech informed me that the following repairs needed to be done: 1. 3 lbs of freon needed to be added because there was a leak in the system 2. Downstairs thermostat was broken 3. Was told by the tech that is was probably just best to replace the whole HVAC system. This estimate came to around $900 in repairs. I told the tech to leave. Proceeded to call another HVAC company they informed me there was no freon leak and the thermostat only needed to be reset. ARS are crooks! This was an absolute attempt at fraud and theft. read more

Do NOT use ARS. Their advertisement of free diagnosis is a lie! They came to my house, diagnosed the problem and gave me a quote of what it would cost to fix it. I called another (highly recommended) service that gave me a quote for $2000 less than the ARS quote. Needless to say, I went with the other service that was quick, professional, and clean. UPDATE: We had a Reputable Plumber check the leak, it took him about 5 minutes to fix the leak; there was no need to tear out our walls and replace the pipes, all we needed was tweak in the new stems so they would fit securely into our old pipes. The Reputable Plumber stated that any plumber with knowledge would know that the newer stems don't require this one part that is on older pipes; remove it and the parts fit and no more leaks! The price for this quick fix was way cheaper than the $420.00 that the guy from ARS wanted to charge us, we still had to pay the $89.00 to ARS for absolutely nothing and he never mentioned anything about these new parts needing tweaking in order to fit old pipes, if he had, our problem could have been fixed. We are grateful for the Reputable Plumber and his honesty; he too could have wanted more money and said the problem was in our walls; but he didn't. We feel the guy from ARS just wanted more money for something that was entirely unnecessary due to the fact that he didn't even check the leak, tell us about this tweak; just said it was an old house with old pipes and they would have to tear out our walls. My AC stoped working in my rental property, my renters have a new born baby so I needed to get the AC fixed right away so I called ARS Rescue Rooter Houston. I did some research and the average price for my AC unit replacement was between $5000 and $7000. I didn't have time to shop around since my renters had been with no AC for over 24 hours and I felt obligated to fix it ASAP. So the ARS guy kept telling me that the unit was old and parts for it were not made anymore so that the whole unit needed to be replaced. Went up to the Attic and said the furnace was ok for 5 more years so that he could replace the AC unit as soon as I agreed and sign the contract. He kept going on and on about ARS being the only company that Home Depot call and trust for AC and plumbing ( I now know it is not true!). So I asked him for a price and was way over what I had researched! Their price was $11700 and he said that if I wanted to change the furnace was $18000!! I asked for the cheapest option and he proceeded to give me all the payment options. So I ended up getting a 10 year loan at 9.99 interest. Im a school teacher and don't have $11700 in hand so I had no choice but to take the loan. The HVAC was replaced. The tenants reported that a black ink looking splash came from all the AC docks covering the inside of the house. ARS Rescue Rooters never call or contact me in any way to inform me that the installation was finished. No thank you for doing business with them. No customer follow up except 4 days later an online survey. I gave them a poor review and I hope no one else does business with this people that charge TWICE as much as other companies. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! Scheduled an appt for a drain cleaning for 12-4 the next day. Finally received a call at 7pm the day they were supposed to arrive that they just couldn't make it, "too many clogs in Houston"... The next day I was to receive a call 30-45 minutes before arriving. Nope. They just magically appeared with no call while I was at work and only my girlfriend was home. They advertise $69 for a drain cleaning- they don't tell you that it must be from outside. Tech told my girlfriend that he had to disassemble the sink to snake the drain and proceeded to charge $317. They didn't even go look for an outside clean out because it is plain as day on the outside of the wall where he took apart my sink drain. He finished, put the drain back together and left without checking for leaks. Of course it leaked like a sieve and poured water into the cabinet below. So at this point we are without the kitchen sink. We were supposed to have someone come the next day to put a camera in the sewer to observe the problem so I thought he'd fix the sink and my girlfriend even told him about it. Nope. He said he'd have to come back shortly with a part (this was 9am). By 4pm I was home, I had called 4 times to find out when they were coming back. They lied and said the tech would call me at 1 so since it is 4pm and no phone call, I was furious. I wound up buying the parts to fix my sink and doing itself because NO ONE will call you back. They even ruined my p-trap by cross threading it trying to fix it. I called and demanded my money back but of course the customer satisfaction rep will not call back. I finally had to drive 15 miles to their shop to demand a refund which, as it turns out, will take 7-10 days because it has to come from "corporate ". They took down my e-mail to keep me updated on the refund but guess what??? Still crickets! DO NOT USE THIS JOKE OF A COMPANY!!! read more

Terrible experience. I called them out for a difficult job. I have a lead in a pipe coming up through the slab. On on exterior wall. The ARS plumber, named Josue, tried to tell me and sell me that I needed to have all of the plumbing redone in my house. ALL OF THE PIPES??? I asked twice to make sure I heard him right. Yep. He wanted to get me to let him redo all of the plumbing in my house. I kicked him out and called a 2nd plumber (Modern Plumbing). $300 later, Modern Plumbing fixed my problem. read more
