I have been meaning to write about the service I received. I thought it was time to clean out my sewer line to the street with a water jet. I called ARS/ Rescue Rooter Houston and they came out the same day. Before charging me to clean my line they ran a camera cable through the line to see if it was clogged. They said it was very clean and did not need to be water jetted. They did not charge me anything. It was a pleasure dealing with an honest company. They came on time. They did the work and completed the job. They were very helpful and nice. They were clean and intentional about doing well. I am gonna keep it 100%. I was concerned about how many people were in the house and whether my private information was threatened. But they seem to be nice. The company is bonded. But you never know. They stayed very long and late to make sure the job was done. I appreciate you for that and also the respectable experience. I will currently post. It was a positive experience. I used them for a major repair that required digging across my entire front year. The completed the repair two days ago but failed to put the dirt back or clean up. The job isn't done until you have cleaned up your mess. read more

This is not going to be a review of promotion. I do not like that my first experience went down hill after the initial phone call with such a nice representative. I scheduled my appointment around 10 am and was told that the window was 1pm-5pm but closer to the first half. I was looking forward to the phone call to alert me 30 minutes before that they'd arrive. I got a phone call around 3pm that they'd be there at 5pm. 5:15pm rolled around without a call so I reached out to the personnel again and The call dropped after 15 min on hold. I call back and was told that they will be on their way and will arrive in 30 min. 7pm comes around and they finally arrive. The guy says that he could fix the issue for maybe $600 or patch it for $69. He was great. He explained with honesty. He was the extra star I gave this rating. I couldn't feel good with myself If I recommended them at this moment. Maybe I'll use their service again and get a different outcome. read more

ARS Rescue Rooter Plumbing Services of Houston is a big waste of your money. They sold me a water heater, 2 years ago, a part broken now, they say I have to pay for their labor and parts seeing that the 6 yr warranty doesn't cover all the parts in the water heater. That is BULL! read more

Ever since COVID ARS has lessened their quality. I use to love them. I used them for plumbing, A:C and heating and my water heater. I actually dealt with them for 15 years. Last year I bought an air conditioner and I had to call them because it stopped working. So now I'm in the same predicament and they came out and charged me almost $400. I told them that I wasn't aware of the price and the lady on tI didn't have this many problems with my unit of 18 years. What about the warranty? I am so lost. I also had a problem with my garbage disposal that they installed. The guy came to see what was wrong with it and made it leak. He literally told me that I signed papers saying that he isn't responsible for any damages that came about while he was working on it. I called and they said we can take $100 off of the installation fee. I wasn't trying to install one right now. So basically my sink will leak but it wasn't before. read more

Like many in Houston we have been affected by the weather and ARS keeps telling us that we are wait list for over a week now and they can't still not tell us a specific date they are coming to us. This is not a great way to start the relationship and we will not be using ARS after the warranty of our new equipment is done. read more

One of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. They overcharged us for a job, did it incorrectly and had to have a team come out several times to correct it. 4 months later and we discover they messed up on it and it's STILL wrong and is leaking! I've had an appointment that no one showed up for and "customer service" was zero help. All they did was "make a note". RUN, don't walk away from this company. I am so disappointed in this company! They sent someone out for service on my AC which was out. The service man went into the attic and outside and after 5 minutes told me I needed $4,000 worth of service. My doorbell camera showed he arrived at 2:53 and was out the door at 3:11. That was him looking at the AC, telling me what I needed, and answering several of my questions, 18 minutes total. He said I needed an evaporator coil because mine was leaking freon and a capacitor. The capacitor (which this "professional" misspelled on the receipt) was only a $341 repair. He didn't offer an alternative and when I said that was the price of a new unit he told me a new unit would be $10,000. That price is not accurate for a unit sufficient for my home size. He charged me a $94.95 service fee which includes an additional charge of $15 that was not disclosed to me when I called. My 11 year old son and I spent a second night in a home that never cooled off lower than 85 degrees. I called a competing company the next day and they asked how the tech knew there was a leak if the capacitor wasn't functioning. He said there was no way he could get a gauge reading if the capacitor wasn't working. Keep in mind he carried the gauge with him both outside & to the attic. This company could not come out for me that day but advised me even if I decide not to use them I should have another company come out for a second opinion. I found another serviceman and former ARS employee who was able to come out. He replaced the capacitor, checked the freon level (which was fine) and the AC is up and running. This cost me $200. ARS was perfectly fine with taking a service fee from me and walking out the door. Allowing my son and I to remain in a scolding hot home during the Texas summer heat. All so they could make 11x the amount that was really required to get my AC functioning again. Shame on you ARS! read more

the service guy didnt check the part i purchased at lowes. he took everything apart. after the fact he realized that was the wrong part. the size was not comparable with the toilet tank. he said RETURN IT lowes they might take it back. also he didnt have the right size of part to install. he left without repairing my toilet. after a week i recieved a bill for $ 189.00! since rescue rooter sent a collection agency letter. shame on this " business" they need to be reported to bbb. highly overpriced and questionable qualified. if i could i would take all stars away from them. read more

I hired ARS to fix my kitchen drain. The tech that came out, Jacob Beach, was professional and knew what he was doing. This has gone south from there. They could not clear the drain so they sent out a gentleman named Ryan who traced the clog with the video and said we would have to either break up concrete or tunnel under the house to access the pipe that had a clog as there was also a belly in the line. We authorized them to do the dig and they did that and fixed the pipe and we are good on the plumbing. The issue is they have not come back out to refill the dirt under the house and we have a huge pile of dirt which I am hoping will not be affecting the structure of the home. On a side note they had structural engineered plans and put reinforcing concrete pillars under the home for additional support bit we still have a 6 foot high by 10 foot wide pile of dirt and no one has called me back after leaving 5 messages and not showing up twice when they said they would. If this is not fixed I will be leaving this review up here. Be wary when using them for a big job like this. read more

I had the sewer backup into my home, not a good thing. First I called ARS based on the Service Special which they were running for $69.00, they pleasant on the phone and set a service time with a four hour block. So the fours came and went, still with extremely limited service, I called them back and they gave me a time about two hours later. I said ok. Then the Tech shows up, hands me a card with his nickname, but not his actual name, ok, whatever. He proceeds to tell me there will be an extra charge for the bushes around the cleanout. Well this is the first I am hearing of this charge, so I go get my cutters and start hacking the shrubs down. I explain to him I have spoken to the Mud district and the clog is on my side of the line. I have already opened the cleanout for him, he gets his snake and runs it into the line away from the house has a little trouble, but it goes way down the line. I inform him it seems like and awful long way as he should have hit the main line by now. He pulls the snake backs and declares the root ball is right at the clean out and he has made a hole in it. We discuss how much it might cost, but he says he needs to put his camera snake in, but it is in the shop. So he cant give me a figure on the cost without knowing where it might be clogged at. Fair enough. I ask him to give me an idea, he tells me thousands to repair this line. I ask for a better idea to what to expect, because thousands, cant be the right answer I am sure, because thats ALOT! He proceeds to tell me that it depends on your definition to what is a lot. He tells me some pay cash, some finance a repair like this one, so use credit cards. And then he tells me it will be about $4500-$3500 ball park. The next day my extremely tardy Tech shows up with the camera snake and determines the clog is right at the cleanout with his camera and the rest of the line is clear. He writes me an estimate for $2695 to dig up the bed, remove the shrubs and to replace and repair the line. There is no reason, why this should cost so much. No reason at all. The long and short of this, is they are a Rip Off. I had two other plumbers quote me $875-900 to do the same job and I found a licensed plumber to do the whole job with warranty for less than $300. I believe even in small business you should be able to earn money, but it should never be at the expense of your customers by taking advantage of them when they need you the most. read more

They came to home and told me I needed to replace the coils for $4000 And the drain line because it was plugged and that was another $1200. I asked him to just unplug for now. I was told that ARS does not allow their technicians to blow out drain lines. He kept telling me I really needed to replace the whole unit which would have been $9000. I asked him to leave the quotes and called H-town AC. They came within the hour and blew out my lines and it is working fine now. My A/C blower broke 9 days ago. I called ARS to come because I have a service agreement with them. They gave me a bid of $4700 to fix but told me the part would take 3 days to come in. After not having A/C all this time I called a different company who came out and verified the blower was broken, drove over to Carrier, picked up the part and had my A/C working within 3 hours and the best part, $1300..: ARS is an absolute rip off with horrible customer service. Call Air Mobile A/C , they are professional and will not rip you off. SHAME ON YOU ARS!!! read more

Unfortunately I realized after the fact that these guys are terrible. They came out for a routine PM on my AC unit and left with $900+ of my money. Only to find out now that they didn't explain all the risks involved with the work they did to repair a leak. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have experienced in a a long long time! Spent $16,000.00 on a tankless water heater and pex piping and wish I had read further into the reviews on ARS! Nick the plumber who sold us the job said he'd be coming by to supervise and check on the job. We never heard from him after the sale, not a thank you call, nothing! Plumbers broke one of my ceramic decorative balls, chipped the countertop and never told us of either, They left a mess, used a plastic garbage pan and bucket for dirty water and never told us and it made a huge mess. Could not tell us how the water heater worked just handed a manual to us and said we'd have to read it. My wife and I are extremely disappointed in the entire process!! We have a network of friends and family and we all offer referrals to one another, I will be telling them NOT to use ARS for anything. This was not a good experience but as a person who has been in sales my whole life, I cannot imagine not thanking a customer for their business let alone not asking if everything is as it should be with the purchase. read more

As I sit here (@8:31pm) waiting for the tech I will review now, ARS was scheduled to come to check the AC. They gave a time frame for arrival of 2-6pm. Okay... 6pm came and went. 7pm called still nothing no sign of him, 8:15 finally got a call "tech will be there within the hour" by 9pm?! Are you serious?? 3 hours later and no call to say tech was held up or why they never showed now it's near bed time and he's going to come and do an hour or so check. How is he even going to see the AC unit outside in the dark to do a thorough inspection? Only reason these people are coming is because I am renting this house and my landlord sent them out for a second estimate. Previously had ABC commercial services out on Friday.. they arrived on time, and did a wonderful job! Definitely call ABC BEFORE ARS. PURE RIDICULOUSNESS. Update .. 9:32pm. Use this company through Home Depot for HVAC revamp. Their strength is quick but not necessary the best. Their price is alright because of the no interest term and is very attractive, the salesperson said 24 months no interest but when the credit card sent to my residence, it was only 6 months. I had to contact the Home Depot credit card personnel back that was not what I promised. The AC technician set up NEST PRO for us but didn't put in the code to let us have 3 years warranty, again I had to call them back to fix it. Other than these two things, they are an OK company to work with but there is room for improvement. Do one thing right the first time is what they lack so we don't have to react again and again. read more

Ars is over all great and awesome but it's just one thing I strongly dont like , and that is that they wait to tell things half of the time late after hours after so much time had been waisted and passed by and it's like sometimes they act as if everyone doesn't has a life and family outside of ars read more

Disclaimer: I only received an estimate from ARS and have had no work done for them by me. We needed some major plumbing work done on our house - the entire pipe system draining from our house needed to be replaced. We called ARS and several other companies for an estimate. We received one estimate for $11,000, one for $8,700 and ARS's was $17,000 (after a 10% discount). Yes, their estimate was twice as much as the cheapest one and significantly more than the middle one. After showing them the middle estimate they came down another $3000, which was still significantly more expensive then the others. My 2 star rating is for the seemingly overpriced original estimate, and for the fact that they were easily able to cut $3,000 off of their estimate when pressed. This makes me wonder if they routinely put extra profit in all their estimates. read more

Beware. Salesman disguised as a plumber. I had a horrible experience with ARS just with an estimation visit alone! I called ARS to see how much a toilet leak and outside underground leak near my water meter. The saleman was more concern about doing a home inspection and checking out my water heater than helping me fixing my leaks. He encouraged me to get a whole house water filteration system for $3,200. He suggested I replaced my outside leaky pvc pipes with copper pipes for about $1300 with a possible $1200 additional cost. The toilet leak would have cost $225. Here's the kicker. While doing his inspection, the plumber turned a valve on my water heater and I stopped having hot water. I called him to come back to replace the valve. He said he was on the other side of town but that he would to come back or call someone. He did not come back and I didn't get a call until 6:30 pm. Mind you, the plumber came out at 9 am in the morning. Well, I called the company and schedule an appointment for someone else to come out 9 am. Guess what time they come out???? 7:15 pm. I called them at 10 am, 12 pm, and 4 pm. There were other issues that happened but you get the idea that it didn't end well. I did call another plumber and he fixed my toilet leak for $65 and my outisde leak for $1200 without trying to pressure me to fix anything else. read more

Find me a good review of these people and you probably found an employee disguised as a customer. You don't have to believe everyone's review remarks, but rest assured, the stars they give are rightly deserved. This is a horrible, horrible organization, run poorly and staffed with some of the worst of the worst. Are there good ones? Sure, but I hope they get out. The good techs who even happened to work with ARS know and they leave as soon as possible so as to not be spoiled by the whole bunch. My story . . .without being too long . . . we had a "supposed" gas leak from our furnace. We called ARS for the same reasons many people do. First, it was late and they were on call. Second, they are a known and national company, surely they are good . . . wrong. So we call at night and we get the guy. He is nice and honest and says there really is no reason for him to come out because no parts places are open at that hour and he knows he will need a part. No problem, he comes in the morning. Now we need a gas leak test, but the AC guys don't carry any of that and have none of it. It took 3 total guys to come out and despite never finding anything they change out a part. There is still a "leak" and so we call them back out. The guys with their soap and um, a lighter, still can't find any leak. The only ones with a gas detector are the plumbing guys, so they call them out. They come, go up, realize it is the furnace and refuse to do that because that is not a plumbers job, it is the AC guy's job, but again, they don't have a leak detector. Finally, the supervisor, getting angry with my wife over her frustration and obviously feeling silly, finds out I am on my way to the house and pulls his guys out. I pull up while they are there, see I am there and they take off. We call the supervisor and he informs us he is done with us, not going to help us and that he will completely refund the amount and he hangs up on us. He never picks up again. A matter of fact, we even hear him in the background when I have to call the office to try to get my refund, letting the girl in the office know he isn't going to talk to us. The good news is that we got our refund. The bad is that he abandoned us on a Friday afternoon, too late to get the problem resolved. We eventually did by going with the Woodlands AC (review for them at their spot on Yelp), but what a horrible company ARS is. They also, in the process, signed us up (with our approval) for a monthly fee that included bi-annual service work and discounted rates on service calls. While, surely, you would think they would want to cancel that service when they abandoned us, they didn't. Now, I can semi-understand because we did sign up for it and we did not technically cancel it, so no points off for that. However, for the next four months, on the phone with them, we tried to cancel it (which you can do at anytime, no charge), they said they would and then, boom, the next month, another charge and the same conversation with the same agreement of "sure". It's an obvious company culture of too high of prices and less than desirable business practices. Wow!! I just read the reviews from all of the others here and it appears that the feeling is mutual across the board for ARS. Be sure to look under ARS Rescue Rooter Houston for the other poor reviews. If you are looking for really crappy service, technicians that don't show up after you have waited for them all day, or just rude customer service morons, then this is the place for you. The only reason I am using them is because it is who my home warranty people have contracted with. If I was paying with my own money, ARS, would never see a dime. The first flag this was a bogus company was that they wanted to use a 4 ton ac system in a shaded 1000 sq/ft house What I find near criminal, and fills me with pity for the people who have done business with this company, was their pricing: $4100 to replace ducts to 3 rooms. That's more than I paid to re-plumb the entire home. Plenum = $50, ducting = $200.... it takes a few hours max to run some flex duct and screw together a plenum!! WHAT ON EARTH They wanted $15,200 for a 4 ton Lennox XC21! this is almost a double markup! 20,100 dollars to install an 4 ton XC21 in a 1000 sq/ft house?!... waste of my Saturday morning and seriously angered me. read more

I needed a Hot Water Heater, I was to purchase from Home Depot. They use ARS/Rescue Rooter. My review of them is "EXTREMELY POOR"!! First thing was the representative they sent out for evaluation, he gave me a quote that was extremely high, when I called to cancel it he texted me: "saying if there was someway we could make it work if there's a price thing maybe we can discuss a new lower price to earn my business"!! This really made me angry, how dare him!!! The next thing was I called immediately the next day after speaking to my son-in-law where he told me the price was exorbitant!! That he would do it Sunday. The ARS man measured the entrance entirely wrong too!! I told it it could not be more than 18", he said no it measures "20-1/2""? He gave me the model to purchase and I did! Thank God my Son-in-law was putting it in and 20-1/2" WOULD DEFINITELY NOT FIT?? So in addition to them quoting EXORBITANT PRICES TO INSTALL, they also have people who don't know anything about measuring for a Hot Water Heater. I WOULD NOT EVER RECOMMEND ARS/Rescue Rooter for anything. Home Depot needs to cancel their contract with them, it's a bad influence on Home Depot!! read more

1 star because at one time ARS was dependable and good. Not anymore. 3 calls in the last year. Call 1: I had them come out to change a leaking kitchen faucet, wanted to charge me 600.00 to do this simple job faucet swap. 600.00? 250.00 I'd pay, 600.00 insults my intelligence... I sent them on their way. Call 2: I scheduled a preventative maintenance for a couple weeks ago. Scheduled for 1-4pm. I took a half day off work. No on showed. Not one call until about 7:30 that evening. Cannot depend on ARS to met a scheduled appt. Call3: This call is a result of Call 2 and ARS no-showing. The A/C is no longer cooling and yes this is an A/C system ARS installed just 2.5 years ago. I called yesterday and can't get anyone to come out. This was not the case a few years ago and this is example of how ARS is no longer being dependable and an emergency / 24hr services company. I called this am and still can't get a firm schedule. Unbelievable. I'm now having to miss more work to handle something that should have been taken care of when I originally scheduled maintenance ARS no-showed on. And yes, they still want to charge me a 79.00 fee just to come out. I should be charging ARS for a day of missed pay!!! This company is worse than dealing with Comcast. I will find another company (not John Moore) to handle my home service needs. read more

Can I give 0 stars. This place is a total scam. I signed up for a home service plan 2 years ago. They gave me crappy service and when my a/c when out, they offered to replace it for $10K and of course they were will to finance. There was no discussion about other ways to fix it. I had to have another company come and fix my a/c. Then ARS continued and keeps continuing to charge me for the home service plan, even though I cancelled it in April. Every time I call, I'm told something different. They were unable to fix the leak in my a/c. They were unable to replace the condenser in my a/c. It took two service calls to fix a blown fuse. Even on the phone today, when I tried to cancel, yet again, the woman, while nice, obviously did not know anything. She told me she was trying to help, yet each time she looked at something she told me a different story. First I'm owed a refund, then I'm not, the I am. Then it was paid in October, yet they are still charging me. I do not believe their service technicians know what they are doing, I do not believe their office staff know what they are doing. They tend to make their money on volume scams. Never, never again will I use ARS. read more

I called to buy a monthly service on 1/5/19 and within 1 hour I called back to cancel the service. Blanca helped me to cancel the service but the next few days after that several people kept calling me to schedule a check up service. When I told them that I already canceled the service on the same day they did not see that was canceled . I had to call my credit card to dispute the charge because 14 days later I still did not see a refund. I don't think I want to do a business with this company when I can't trust them to do the small thing right. They pushed the sale and aggravated me and they lost me for good. None of the customer service called me back as they repeatedly told me so to assure that the service was canceled. Don't do business with this company. read more

Called for a simple kitchen sink cleaning, to unclog a backed up drain. We scheduled them to come out that day between 3-5, and they didn't show up until 3 the NEXT day. They were advertising a $49 drain clean special, which was obviously too good to be true. The plumber admitted that was just to get them in the door. So a basic drain clean auger job. I'm at work and my wife is there. He straight up lies to her and says there is no drain access port under the sink and he has to do all this other work to get the drain clear. On the phone I call him on it and he gives me some BS about having to use special equipment to purge the line and dismantle the plumbing or it will make a big mess. Wants $350 for the job. To clear a sink, seriously. So I sent him away and rented an auger at home depot for $50 and cleared it myself in 30 minutes. I would have happily paid them to do it for me at a reasonable price if he hadn't been a greedy lying scumbag. Oh, and I did use my own special equipment to purge the drain so I wouldn't make a mess. A BUCKET. Find an honest local plumber and avoid ARS. read more

Had a water heater fail, and this was the company touted in Home Depot's banner ad saying SAME DAY INSTALLATION IF YOU CALL BY NOON. I called at 8:30 am and they told me they couldn't get anyone out until the following day. Note to Home Depot. "Tomorrow" is not "same day." read more

ARS originally installed my new system less than three years ago, but when I called them this past week for some basic maintenance issues they sent not one but three different teams out and charge me $500 and the issue has still not been resolved and no one at the call center has returned my calls attempting to resolve the issue. After reading the poor ratings here I wish that I had consulted yelp before reaching out to ARS. I can see that my problem is very similar to the types of complaints on quality of service, price gouging, and no follow-up from the folks who schedule appointments or resolve issues. I would never recommend anyone to use this company for anything since they do not appear to be honest and the service technicians are mostly interested in selling services or upgrades as they call them which I am not interested in nor do I need! I would give them no stars if they had done the work i am sureI had ARS out to my house on 2 occasions this past month. One was for an A/C checkup and to clean out the clogged drain pipes. The other time was to have them look at some electrical wires that had to be repulled through conduit. On the visit for the A/C, they came out and said that my coils were about to rust out and the A/C was on its last leg. They gave me an estimate to clean the clogged pipes at 600.00 dollars and to replace the A/C with a 13 SEER unit was going to be about 11,000.00 dollars. After my jaw dropping I said thanks but I need to get a few bids on this work for that price. To cut to the chase I spent the next week having A/C repairmen come out (4 total) and give me prices for the A/C and to clean out the pipes. Well I will tell you that all 4 came in at less than 200 bucks to clean the pipes and they all priced a 16 SEER w/ adjustable fan speed and communication at less that 9500.00 dollars. ARS wanted over 17,000.00 dollars for the 16 SEER system. They came out on Saturday with this estimate. On the visit for the electrician we had to have them out 3 times to get the problem isolated to where the problem was. The third person I will say was the most competent of the 3. His name was Ken and drove #25 van. He explained what the problem was and I asked him for a bid for the work. He gave me a price of 1500.00 to pull 7 wires through a conduit about 80' long. Again, after getting the bid for the A/C I told him that I would have to price out this job too. WOW...am I glad I waited again and received competitive bids from 4 electricians, All 4 were under 1000.00 dollars and the winning bidder got with a bid of 550.00. I don't really know if I can say ARS is bad or there installations are any good but I can say you should get bids on any major work in your home. It pays to shop around as just waiting an additional 2-3 weeks and getting bids I saved over 8000.00 dollars from what they wanted to charge me. We've been calling, sending request on their website, yet, no technician ever called us back to schedule the time to come and get it fix. We are beyond disappointed and frustrate. read more

Found an ad promoting sewer line cleaning for $69. A crew of 2 came to the door, looked at the toilet and said it will be $169. A hefty $100 more from running a snake down the toilet. Well, I didn't and do not agree with the price so I told them no thank you and off they went. Rented a toilet snake from Home Depot for $10 and fixed the problem myself. I won't ever use these guys again... I had them replace both bathroom shower valves, and they cut out a huge piece of drywall, left it hanging, and said well the valve is replaced, and just left the drywall hanging almost a 2 ft x 2 ft piece of drywall....which in my opinion was a crappy way to leave the job. Now I know ARS is not Drywall/sheetrock repair ppl, but I've seen jobs by other companies that replaced the valve assembly and only made an 8" x 8 " opening, which could have been easily repaired by me instead of me having to hire a drywall contractor, to come in square up the hole they left and mud in and paint a new section of drywall. Terrible Service. I haven't been able to use the plumbing in my house for two weeks now due to the fact that they have just not "sent the right people" to repair the issue despite sending 4 different crews out to look at the issue. Now their machine is broken so they couldn't come out again. I am giving them one more chance due to this issue being an extension of an issue that fixed with only minimal issue before contacting another plumber, but service is getting worse by the day and I wanted to warn others so they avoid this issue. read more

After posting my review, the local ARS in Houston reached out to me to make things right. Without prompting from me, they offered to refund everything but the price of a basic toilet install; close to half of what I paid in total. While it doesn't change how events unfolded, I can appreciate when a company tries to right it's wrongs. read more
