I was approached by the store "rover" at HD and was sold a $29 AC tuneup. Good price, so I knew going in they would be looking to upsell something. ARS is their captive provider. Their diagnosis was a leaking coil which would be $4800 to replace but since our system was 11 years old, probably best to replace it all (incl furnace) $13,900. Well, I decided on a 2nd opinion from the original installer. Worst case they quoted $2400 for a new coil (that's 1/2 the ARS quote). After a full test they can find NOTHING wrong. Not even low "freon" , and pressures are perfect. HD should be ashamed to be linked to such a shady subcontractor. Never again HD and never ARS. read more

Flush valve on our 9 year old toilet sprung a leak. ARS quoted over $400 to replace!! Couples have had brand new toilet installed for that by independent plumber. ARS technician polite and capable but Insisted on replacing a kit with flapper, supply line and flush valve. Took over 30 minutes to fill out our invoice before repair and 20 to do the work. The worst! I was conned into buying a $10,000 unit only to find out it was the wrong size for my home. When my heating bills tripled, I called begging for help. Brad Smith from customer service said all the right things. Came to my home, looked at the equipment and asked me to send copies of my recent electric bills clearly showing the huge difference. My first floor heating system was blowing cold air, so I called ARS, who had installed the unit,to come out and diagnose the problem. A tech came out, spent 5 minutes assessing the unit, and came back to tell me the combustion chamber was cracked and I needed to replace the 10 year old unit. And then he started pressuring me to get on the schedule because there was a backlog and he 'smelled natural gas". I had a much better rate HVAC service come out the next day, and they diagnosed a bad igniter and a dirty burner. They found no cracks in the chamber. In addition, the tech showed me how ARS had originally installed the system in an inefficient configuration that didn't make use of the high end features of the furnace. read more

ARS Rescue Rooter of Raleigh installed a new Bryant Heat Pump and new Honeywell digital thermostat this fall (2022). It worked fine until we had the cold snap Christmas weekend. It quit working on Dec. 23/24 night. A technician came out the next day, Dec 25, checked the unit, changed out a fuse, got it running and left. One hour later it went dead again. They sent a different technician out the next day, Dec 26. He did the same thing. Changed out a fuse and got it running and left again. One hour later, it died again. I looked at the fuses, and they are mismatched, one is a 60 amp and one is a 50 amp. Today they are NOT treating me with priority, and we have been without heat for 4 days now during the coldest time of the year. They have us on a stand by, so if anyone becomes available, so it may not even get fixed today. I called and asked for a supervisor, was transferred to voicemail, left the voicemail with a description of the problem and no one has called me back. At this point I am totally dissatisfied with ARS and would not recommend them to anyone. Something is wrong, and they are NOT getting to the root of the problem. We paid $11,500 for a new unit, less than three months later, we are sitting at home freezing to death and no one seems to care or want to treat this with urgency. read more

ARS recently bought out a company that installed my HVAC unit a year prior. When the tech came to do a semi annual maintenance, he claimed that the capacitor needed replacing. I questioned how that could be as the unit was 1 year old, being maintained by them, and showing no signs of capacitor failure. Regardless, I informed him that the unit was under warranty as I purchased one with the installer. He claimed that part was not under warranty despite my showing him the warranty. I told him to replace the part if indeed it was defective and I'll work out the warranty issue with his company (in hindsight, a poor decision). And to also leave the "defective" part with me. He didn't. ARS billed me over $300 for a part that costs about 1/10th of that and when I try to resolve this with management, they would not return my calls. I never would have used this company for service had my original HVAC company not been bought out by ARS. Needless to say, I would never use this company again or recommend anyone else to use them. read more

I woke up and walked downstairs at 0500 on 21 December 2023. I heard what sounded like a washing machine filling with water as I approached the first-floor landing. The downstairs bathroom toilet had surged water out from behind the toilet, at one of the external pipe joints under the tank. I turned off the shut off valve. Water had spread from the bathroom to the front door, into the downstairs coat closet, across the kitchen floor - under the refrigerator and stove - part way into the living area and into the food pantry . . . an inch of standing water carpeting half of our first floor. I called ARS plumbing and secured an appointment for a plumber. ARS Plumber Jose Benitez showed up quickly, assessed the situation, tested the home's water pressure - assuring that the issue was a local problem specific to the townhouse and not a wider, deeper systemic issue. He turned his attention to the bathroom toilet that had been spewing water into the home, and found a crack, a thin hairline split in the ballcock coupling connecting the water supply tube to interior of the tank . . . all those working parts that need to work to make the toilet function as a toilet . . . Jose laid out the alternative options that confronted us, from fixing the specific part that led to the unexpected appearance of an indoor swimming pool, and factored in my wife's questions about better, taller toilets. Jose secured the models in the ARS warehouse and brought them back to out place. He set to doing the work of removing the original system, and securing the bowl and tank in place, checking the interior tubes and valves and levers and all that mix of plastic and metal that make this stuff function right. He did this in a friendly way, a very professional way, explaining every part of the task to us, offering good advice and guidance on managing the systems, keeping everything in working order, cleaning up the water that spilled across our first floor. Jose did a great job, and ARS checked all the boxes. Five Stars. read more

Watch out for their A/C service tune up gimmick. I had 2 units supposedly serviced by them- Issues i had with their service - unit 1, diagnosed coolant leak in the coil The tech confirmed the unit was under warranty, and would work on getting a replacement from trane. At the same time was eager to push for a in-house appt to review the quote for a new system, as it would not cost me anything, despite telling him repeatedly that i wanted the coil replaced.. Tried to work with ARS, told them i was only interested in repairing the old system but still met with the tech to review the replacement cost. With their tie-up with HomeDepot, the first thing they tell you is you are eligible for "0-%" for 2 years and try to sell an overpriced system. I was told they would get back with the repair of the unit. Unit 2 - (approx 7 years old Trane) No issues were found but the perfectly working system - now does not work as well, it does not cool sufficiently. I still am waiting for ARS to update on the repair of unit-1, instead got 2 follow up phone calls to for the replacing unit-1. "Beware - All ARS wants to do is get as many units replaced, using their AC tune-up as an excuse" ------ April 7. 2021 Contacted Trane as i have not received a call back from ARS, other than the response to my review to contact customer support!! Here is an update: Unit - 2. the fuse for the compressor was on the ground right behind the unit. No wonder the unit did not cool after an AC Tune Up Service. Unit - 1 coolant leak in the coil is confirmed!! ARS company - If you want to right the mess created - please do so in your response on the web. I called them to come out and do spring checkup on my heat pump. It said $59 on tv ad but when I called to schedule, I was told they were having a special for $29. I thought great and scheduled an appt. The young man who came out was very nice but tried to sell me something to attach to the furnace that would eliminate some issue for $1800.00. I declined. After he was done in the basement, he went to the heat pump outside. When he came in, he said the unit was dirty and he hosed it off. One problem--my faucet outside is turned off inside via a valve so there is no water available out there. I thanked him and sent him on his way. ARS commercials inticed us to call 2 years ago when our 30-year old A/C unit finally died. The sales associate was friendly, seemed knowledgable and after some negotiations I had ARS install a new system, including the Nest thermostat. They were efficient, on time and the product performed splendidly until a week ago when the Nest went off-line. Thinking it was the thermostat, I called Nest for assistance. After some research I was told to contact ARS. They responded by sending a tech the next day. He walked in, asked where the unit was (in my basement/crawlspace). He immediately informed me the drain was clogged and needed replacing. I asked if that would fix the problem. He said it would but probably would happen again. I asked what he recommended. Fix the pipe, and add what I learn is an Air Scrubber. And how much, I ask? The pipe is $333.00 and the Air Scrubber, which he said happens to be on special from $2,082.00 to only $1399, meaning with the $99.00 service call and tax, around $2,000.00. I said no way. I called their office, was told they would waive the service all fee. I told the tech to get the system running and I would deal with ARS regarding the system. Also asked him to write a description of his recommendation on my bill. He put the pipe on, spent 30 minutes in his truck preparing a bill, showed it to me on his iPad, took my credit card, then told me they didn't use paper but I would get the info on my email. Sure enough it came up after he left but showed nothing but the figures and items I have previously mentioned. I called the ARS number to explained my frustration and was assured someone would call back immediately. I waited almost 3 days with no response. Called again, told my story again and was once again assured I would be hearing from the supervisors. I obviously have heard NOTHING. I purposefully resisted writing this review to give them every opportunity to respond. Now, I am going to seek other ways to have them respond. Recommended replacement because repairing an 8 year old water heater/heat pump may cause repeat repairs he quoted $5,475.00 gave a $500 discount so total $4,975.00. I said that's extremely high, he rambled on about covid increasing part prices etc, and anyone in the area would be as much or more. LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE. All it needed was the Thermal Coupling replaced. $200.00 parts and labor. Bought a house in 2017 with a mid-age gas furnace/AC unit. Home had been a rental before, so we felt the unit may need some extra attention to keep it running as long as possible. I generally use local, but for some reason felt that ARS may be a good fit for what we needed. Had them out spring of 18 to service, clean and inspect the unit. They came out, worked for about 20 mins and then had to leave because they "forgot something they needed, but they'd be back." I had luckily made the appointment on a day off, so I was pretty flexible. Technician returned over an hour later, and stood and talked on his phone at the side of our house for another 40 mins. 5 hours later he finishes up. Tells me that the capacitor is out of spec and needs to be replaced badly. Gives me a $300 estimate to replace. Runs through all the scare tactics of how it will go out without warning and we'll be stuck without AC. Also went on about how that part is not always in stock so it could be a week or so for them to fix it if it does go out. I politely decline (I like to do my research) and say that we'll consider that in the near future. He then proceeds to tell me to sign up for the service plan and tells me about all the wonderful perks it involves such as getting priority to fix anything wrong with the unit, discounted service charges etc. I also decline this, and told him I would think about it. After discussing it with my partner, we decide doing the service plan may be a good option. The unit is older, and we don't know much about it's history. We sign up the next day. Time for heat in fall of 2018. This is November, and we still had not heard anything from ARS about setting up the fall servicing. I decided to turn the unit on to test as the mornings had started getting chilly and it was time to turn on heat. Turn it on, and get a terrible grinding noise. I call ARS to have them come out and diagnose plus run their scheduled maintenance. They tell me that the next available appointment is 2 weeks out. I ask about priority service and they say that that is with the priority service. I ask what it would be without it and they say that they can't answer that. I make the appointment. I then try to diagnose myself and quickly figure out that the air induction motor/fan is the issue. I look up the part and it's $125. Seems easy enough to replace, but it's a gas unit and I'd rather leave it to the pros. They come out 1 hour past the survey window, charge me $90 to diagnose the problem. It's the same conclusion I came to. They then do their "service" and proceed to give me a quote for the repair after taking 3 hours. They estimate the repair to be $1300 and proceed to tell me the entire unit just needs to be replaced at this point. I politely decline (although I wanted to yell) and tell them no thanks. They leave and I immediately try to cancel my service with ARS. I'm told that no one is in the office that late that can help me with that and to call back the next day. I buy the part online replace myself in about 1hr for $150, total. I call back the following day and am routed to the service department. I get a voicemail so I leave my info and no one calls me. I try calling back after about a week and am given the same line of "I can't help you, you'll have to talk to someone in the service department." They transfer me. No one answers, I hang up and don't leave a voicemail. A few months go by. Life gets busy, I forget about it until I check some credit card statements and remember that I'm still being charged for this. I call, no one can help me. Service department will call me, they never do. Two more months go by, I get a call from the service department to set up spring service. Due to a new job, I'm unable to schedule, and don't want to cancel without them servicing the unit, because at this point, I've paid for that service. I ask them to call me back the next week. I of course forget about it (I'm constantly traveling for work), and they don't call. I get a call in late June looking to service in July. I set a date in mid July. They indicate they will call day before and 30 mins before Technician arriving between 8-10am. Day arrives and I get out of the shower at 7:55 am. Immediately hear my doorbell ring. They're on time (which is great I guess) but I certainly did not get my 30 mins before call. I get dressed, put the dog away, and answer the door. The man services the unit and is the first person to be quick. He tells me the unit is great and nothing looks bad. Keep in mind, that we have never changed the "bad capacitor." He leaves and I immediately call ARS to cancel my service. They tell me everyone that can help with that is busy. They say they'll pass along my info and have them call me asap. This company had installed my HVAC system when my home was built in 2018. The system operates fine but I thought it may be a good time to have it checked, or tuned-up as they refer to it. I called to make an appointment on a Tuesday and the rep, who I assume is in a call center at who knows where, made an appointment for that day for 11:00 AM-2:00 PM window. I received a text around 1:00PM saying that they would not be able to make it that day and that I should call and reschedule. I called and the rep, again apparently in a call center, made an appointment for Wednesday from 2:00-5:00 PM. They were a no show on Wednesday, no call, nothing. I called on Thursday morning to see what happened and the rep acted as though they did not understand what happened. They made another appointment for me from 9:00-11:00 AM on Friday. Again, a no show with no call, no text, no nothing. It's a good thing that this was not an emergency situation. I recognize that they could, like many businesses these days, be understaffed, but under no circumstances will I EVER call this company again. I had the worst 1st time experience. We had to shut off the main water to the house after the overflow tank sprung a leak. After waiting over an hour with no call backs when I was told it would be 10 minutes, I called back spoke with 3 different people and was told 3 different things. No one could find my info, no one could find the same information on the reason for my call. In addition, one rep told me it was a free visit only labor + parts. The 3rd rep said it was $90 + the other. No one apologized for the confusion and stress. In the end I was told no one could come... 1.5 hours later. Glad it wasnt a true emergency. New rep said he would come out - never did. Called him again same. Said he would come out - never did. My 6 years old HVAC installed by ARS was diagnosed with compressor failure and was quoted 1900 for labor since part was under warranty, they agreed to refund 383 from last year call when they refilled coolant. Technician suggested to rather replace whole AC and coil, was quoted 5500 from project manager. My point was to rather stand behind the unit which you install rather than suggesting to change. I went with local HVAC technician who charged me with 1500 to replace compressor and coil. I am happy so far! I do not look forward to call ARS again. read more

My heat pump stopped working on July 6. The compressor fan was not turning but heat was still coming out of the heat exchanger. The ARS technician came out on Friday (7-8) and diagnosed a bad startup capacitor, bad fan, bad contactor, and a couple of other things for a mere $3800. Because of the cost, he set up an appointment for an estimate for a new heat pump. The estimator showed up at 6:00 pm and worked until around 8:00. He said he would be back the next day (Saturday) between 12:00 and 1:00 to finish up the estimate. When I didn't see or hear from him by 1:30, I called ARS & was told someone would contact me with an update. At 4:30 I still had not seen or heard from the estimator or anybody else. I called back & set up a new appointment on Monday between 11 and 2. On Monday, having neither seen or heard anything from anybody at 2:15, I called ARS back and was told someone would contact me with the status. It is now Wednesday (7-13) at noon and I have heard nothing! So, on Monday I called another HVAC company. They came out this morning at 9:00. They diagnosed a bad capacitor, replaced it, and now the unit is cooling nicely. Their cost was $338, less than 1/10 the ARS estimate. I had been using ARS for at least 12 years for HVAC work. This experience is too much! I don't feel the estimate was a good faith estimate; I feel that it was a way to get me to put in a new system. Their lack of communication about the heat pump estimate is inexcusable! The bottom line - I will not be using ARS again! They seriously messed up a relationship! read more

We purchased a brand new system from this company in August. They were eager, prompt and responsive UNTIL they received their money and installation was complete. They now have not returned about 10 phone calls in regards to our system not working correctly. You have up to a year for corrections to the system and ours isn't even functioning 100%. We have tried reaching out to their complaint department and general manager with no return calls. This system cost us $12500. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. No return calls since mid-September. I wouldn't even give them one star if that was an option. read more

I recommend to everyone to stay clear of ARS Rescue Rooter. The following is the story of my HVAC system that was originally installed in July 2011 when the house was built. My wife and I bought the house in September 2011. Last May, the A/C stopped cooling. I called ARS because they originally installed the system and I didn't have experience with anyone else. ARS fixed an issue with the unit in August 2012 under warranty and that went well. So I figured, why not? Two technicians came out. They looked outside and in the attic. After doing some tests, they concluded the compressor needed to be replaced. Because it was getting hot and we have two small children, my wife and I didn't want to prolong the situation by getting a second opinion. We figured ARS was a reputable company and could be trusted. The compressor was under warranty, but it still cost $1,800 to replace it. That left us sore considering the unit was just shy of four years old at that point. As part of this experience, we purchased ARS' preventative maintenance plan so we could avoid any surprises in the future. This past May, ARS performed the second of two preventative maintenance checks. Everything checked out as being normal. Then on July 30th after returning from vacation, trouble struck. The A/C was left at 76 degrees, but the thermostat reported 79 degrees. We called ARS and a technician came out the next day. After going back and forth between outside and the attic, filling the unit with two pounds of refrigerant, and calling his manager, the technician said there was probably blockage in the liquid line. It would cost $900 to fix. This was still the case after I asked if this should've been caught during the last maintenance check. My wife and I passed on having ARS fix the issue. A few days later, the A/C seemed to be working again. A few days after that, it wasn't. We got a second opinion from Trinity Climate Control. The story was much different. The technician from Trinity Climate Control checked outside and said it was low on refrigerant. While filling it up with refrigerant, he checked the temperature of the air blowing out of the vent. It was 66 degrees, which was perfect. The technician stopped filling the unit with refrigerant (2.5 pounds worth). He said either the unit wasn't fully charged when the compressor was replaced last year or there's a leak in the line. If the issue occurs again, a line test would be performed. The house was cooled down from 85 degrees to 72 degrees overnight. This tells me that ARS did not fill the unit with refrigerant. If they did, it needed more. It's been over a week since Trinity Climate Control came out and the A/C has been rock solid. After this experience, I will never call ARS Rescue Rooter again. I'm beginning to wonder if I even needed the compressor replaced last year. read more

The quality assurance rep worked hard to make things happen but the office seemed to have a very hard time getting things coordinated. We had our final inspection the first week in November after starting the " two day job " in April. Long story longer, the job is finished and ARS has made every effort to make things right. Brit and I had our heating system go out just before we headed out for vacation. We were leaving on Wednesday and the system died on Saturday. ARS came recommended and I gave them a call. We decided to opt for Monday since we had alternate heat. A weekend visit was quoted at $180, and a weekday visit was $90. They told me that they would be over afternoon on Monday. I took the afternoon off to wait for them. I called their office at 5:00pm to find out where their tech was. The office told me that the tech was out on calls still and would get to us as soon as he could. She did add a caveat that if it started snowing, they would get to us the next day. The tech showed up at 6:00pm and spent 10 minutes in my house. He stated that our circuit board was fried, and he didn't have one on board his truck. He told me that his service guy would call me in the morning. Tuesday was a mild snow storm, and I called their office. No answering machine, no one was there. I called their national line and was informed that their office was closed. Some customer service that is. I was charged for services I was yet to receive, and they didn't bother letting me know that they were closed. I called their national line and spoke to a corporate call center rep and had them addend the account to have them contact a relative who would be available for the install. Since the weather was going to be bad, Brit and I jumped the gun on our vacation and headed to Miami early Wednesday morning i.e. 2:00am. I called ARS at 8:00, when we hit Jacksonville and was forwarded to a call center in Dallas. They told me that the office was closed again. Now I was pissed off. I called corporate's customer service line and inquired if ARS would pay for my burst pipes and any damages incurred due to their inability to contact customers and their apparent disregard of persons. My biggest question was, what if we didn't have alternate heat? The corporate customer service manager Tonya called me, and she said she'd contact me in 15 minutes to confirm service for the day. 4 hours later I called her again. I left another voice mail. 20 minutes later the Raleigh office called me and said that a tech was scheduled to come out and install the board. The rep that called then read me off two quotes of what I would owe. Seeing as how I'd already paid them I was more than a little peeved that they didn't have it on record since I saw the charge on my credit card. I have yet to speak to them again since my return, and will addend my review once I get further clarification on things. I am going to cancel my service contract with them and will never deal with them again due to their apparent lack of responsibility to clients. There are many HVAC companies out there, and one with such sheer disregard of their patrons and poor customer service will definitely cause me to go elsewhere. Brit's mom met the installation tech and the one question I asked her to pose to the installing tech was, if the board burned out, what was the root cause? He stated loose wires and left it at that. I need further clarification that the wires were routed correctly and that there's little to no chance of this happening again as I don't trust them to honor their warranty, nor want them to ever set foot in our house again. read more

Today marks appointment FIVE in a one and a half week span, due to one of our A/C units malfunctioning. We are renting our house, and our landlord has a contract with ARS, so alas, we're stuck with them for the time being. The first appointment I was given a window of 12-6pm. So I sat. And sat. And waited. And at 5:30pm called the dispatcher for an update. She basically said she has no way of knowing when they'll come, and she couldn't confirm they'd be there before 6. Awesome! Glad you have such a sophisticated system. Guy showed up at about 5 minutes to 6pm and was there for about an hour. Claimed to have fixed the problem, but... TWO DAYS LATER, system malfunctions again. The second appointment, the guy who showed up did not really have such a great explanation as to what the problem was. He was here for about an hour, claimed to have "fixed the problem!" And was on his way. Until that evening, when the system malfunctioned again. Winning. The next day, I get a call as I'm headed to a client mtg that ARS is outside of my house and no one is home. Well damn right no one was home - we were not confirmed an appointment time - why would I think someone would be showing up?? So, thankfully, my husband was able to rush home and meet the guy. He was there for TWO HOURS before my husband threw his hands up and said he had to go back to work. Guy left with no resolution. The NEXT morning, the supervisor comes out to diagnose the problem. After about 2 hours, he determines that a piece needs to be replaced. Oh, wow. Good. At least we're making progress here. Another guy shows up during this appointment, they are here together trying to figure things out... it's like I'm hosting a constant ARS party up in here. A few days later, the guy shows up to install the part. He arrives at about 10am. I AGAIN am shackled to the house for another appointment here, over this stupid AC. I think, this won't be so bad. He's got the part, they've diagnosed the problem. The guy was here for FOUR HOURS. FML!!!!! The amount of TIME wasted with all of these appointments I can't ever get back.. so thank you, ARS. Let's see if we can keep this AC working this time... at least for more than 24 hrs. read more

I used ARS heating/air/plumbing services for a few years and DEFINITELY would NOT recommend them! There were a number of issues with a whole town house re-pipe job in 2013, the most concerning of which was not having a work permit onsite at the beginning of the job. I was not aware of this legal requirement! This was not discovered until the day of job completion and city inspector arrived for final inspection of their work. Caused further delays and office admin staff who should have handled didn't seem too concerned about making it right in a timely manner. I have since been using Comfort Master, a family owned business out of Zebulon, and have been very happy with them! read more

On August 9, 2021- I stepped into the garage to find it flooded -the water heater had broken down. After contacting several companies, I ended up choosing Home Depot because they were the only ones available to come assess the problem within 24 hrs. They use outside but local contractors, but you are not told what contractor will be contacting you to do the work. I got a phone call within the hour from ARS Rescue Rooters. Let me be very honest here... had I read the Yelp reviews for this company first, I'd not even thought about hiring them. Now I am so glad that I didn't read them. From the first person I spoke to on the phone (Kanishia?), to later Laurie, and ultimately the person I had the most contact with throughout the process (Lindy) who is the Home Depot Coordinator, every single one of these women were so professional yet so friendly and polite. They went out of their way to be helpful and patient in explaining the process to me. Within the hour Mathew (Matt) Beltran arrived at my house. He inspected the broken unit and explained the cost and process to replacing it. Of course, this was not a surprise considering the age of the unit (10 yrs.). Unfortunately, there was no availability whatsoever to replace the unit the very next day (he tried...) so since this was a Monday, we were looking at Wednesday. I don't have enough words to describe how kind, how professional, how caring a person Matt is. Even though a different plumber came back to install the new unit, Matt stayed in touch with me all the way to the end of project to make sure everything was going smoothly and according to plan. He went beyond the call of duty! The following Wednesday the company called first thing in the morning to let me know a plumbing tech. named Corey would be there within the hour. He arrived right on time. Corey... this young man is the hardest working person I have met. It was over 90 degrees in that garage, and he just kept toiling away. He was respectful, polite, and very professional. He spoke with pride of his young children and wife. I was in awe of his dedication and determination to not only do the job, but to make sure it was done well. Only one hiccup. After the job of replacing the water heater was completed, Corey run into a totally separate issue. Both, the garage hose bib and the one in the backyard were not working. He tried everything but by now he was drenched and exhausted so I told him to go home and just fix the stuff the next day. I got a call from the company first thing in the next morning to let me know a plumber was coming to fix the hose bibs. In comes Ben Sanders with a nice man whose name I missed. Ben was all business yet polite and so knowledgeable that within 5 minutes he figured out what was wrong with the hose bibs, and he and the other young man got to the business of fixing it. They had water flowing out of both hose bibs within 30 minutes. For sake of space, I won't go into details but Ben did more than just fix the hose bibs. He also inspected the water heater install, water pressure in the house, taught me about use/manage the temp. controls, provided me w/a carbon monoxide detector (per code, he said), etc. etc. I was in awe of Ben Sanders skills, knowledge, and professionalism. He is a boss!! Would I hire this company again? Absolutely! The specific people I dealt with are 100% dedicated to customer satisfaction, and I am a very satisfied customer, indeed! My review was from 2017 but just received the "canned" response. I did call the ARS Raleigh office the day this incident happened but was not given a reasonable explanation. I still get calls from ARS asking for business and I repeatedly tell them how much I AM NOT A FAN and no business from me or my family. read more

My ongoing issues with ARS. My home is 3.5 years old with an ARS installed unit. The first year we had refrigerant added twice. At a year and a half it was discovered that the A Coil was leaking the entire time and had to have that replaced. 2 weeks ago AC stopped working and it was $250 for a Capacitor, I was then encouraged to buy the service package so I did. After that $500 7 days later the AC stopped again. This time the variable speed fan is bad. I was told to pay in advance and they would be out the next day. I now have spent over $1000,00 in 7 days. We have been without AC for 4 days, I have called multiple times to get a temporary unit and no one calls me back. I told a parts manager about my wife, 3 kids, and pets and she couldn't care less. She said she would call me right back and never has. I have tried to speak to management and gotten nowhere. Since when is leaving a family in 100 degree weather without AC Excellent Customer Service like their motto says????? read more

One of our 2 HVAC units had been working intermittently for a few months. Half of our building was the correct temperature while the other side was either too hot or too cold depending on the weather outside. We had ARS evaluate the problem and they convinced us that we need to replace the entire unit. The unit cost almost $20,000!! Reluctantly, we agreed and had them install the new unit on the roof. Ironically, by the time we had the unit installed, temperatures were pretty mild outside so we never really got to test the new unit. That all changed in November when it got unusually cold. We had the same problem that we had before we bought the new unit! We called ARS to come and fix their brand new unit and we could not believe what they said to us. The new unit is working, the other one is not working. These people replaced our good HVAC and left the broken one alone! We spoke to the manager and he tried to convince us that we were crazy and the unit they fixed was the one that needed to be fixed. Like we don't work in this building everyday and don't know which part of the office is either too hot or too cold! I would encourage anyone that needs HVAC work to go elsewhere. Do NOT use ARS! Hopefully you will not get a $20,000 lesson like we did! read more

WATCH OUT ALL THEY DO IS LIE. If I could give them no stars I would. Last year our A/C that we bought from them about 6 or so years ago stop working. We called a tech to come look at it and they did. That when they told us that we need a whole new A/C unit. At that time we didn't have the money that the sale person quoted us to replace the unit. That whole summer we sweated to almost death. This year as we prepare for the summer we were about to call them and get a new unit when we decided to get a second opinion and to see what other companies charge as well. Long story short the only thing wrong with our unit is that it had a hole in the coolant line. It was replaced and the A/C works well as new. read more
