Arsicault is the undisputed best bakery in SF (and yes, I'll even say better than most you'll find in NYC)! Don't overcomplicate it: get a plain croissant. It will be the most buttery, flaky yet velvety soft croissant you'll ever eat. Of course, they offer much more than a plain croissant but you NEED to eat one. The execution from croissant, to kouign-amann, and everything in between is nothing short of brilliant. The line can get very long on Saturday mornings. Try to show up early because pastries start to run out by the afternoon.

Stopped in yesterday, pleasantly surprised that there was NO LINE at 9:30 am. I tried a bacon scone which was perfectly baked, both flakey and soft. I also got a cold brew which was strong and I appreciate that it was served in a paper cup. The space is very open and clean and with a lot of natural light it's bright and welcoming inside. After I ordered I waited only a couple minutes for my coffee. The service was quick and friendly. There is room to eat inside but it's a short skip over to a much nicer view if you just cross the street you'll find there's a little beach overlooking Oracle Park.

We went to the original location at first and that line was insanity, so we decided to go here instead. The line was still long, but it's a 1/3 of the size of the other one. The line goes by pretty fast, it took about 20 minutes. The croissants are so buttery and flakey, I like that they're not skimping out on filling either. Now is this the best croissant that I've had...yes it is. It's really good, but I think it's a good place to check out once. There's no indoor seating and they have a few small tables outside, but there are other benches around the area. They have a paid per hour parking lot in front. ig: @cravingswithcat

This bakery lives up to the hype I'm sorry to say. The croissants here are really top tier and super flakey and it's actually pretty huge as well! I ordered a ton of different pastries to try so I will rank which ones I liked the most! Ham and cheese croissant 10/10 - this is the pastry I'd get over and over again. The croissant was perfectly crispy, ham and cheese was super melty and such a great experience! Almond croissant, kouign amann and chocolate croissant were also amazing! The kouign amann was the perfect amount of sweetness and it reminds me of the pastries I'd eat in Hawaii. Coffee was bad, either I got the wrong coffee or my barista forgot an ingredient but I was not too happy with the taste. Parking is tough so make sure to come early enough to find a spot! They also have other locations as well. Line moves pretty fast so don't let the long line deter you away.

I love bakeries! I got a dozen here to take home with me to So Cal. The line is long but I enjoy watching them make the pastries from the window. Amazing experience. Please come and create your own adventure.

If you're looking for Arsicault pastry, this location has to be the most difficult to get to - and likely for you to find what you're looking for! Buried in Mission Bay neighborhood across the channel from Oracle Park, this 3rd Arsicault shop had some pastries and other goodies by the early afternoon. I got my afternoon snack - the salted chocolate chip cookie. It was the last one! Ooey, gooey - the cookie was really tasty! I could have done without the large grains of salt on top. Salting cookies used to be a thing, but who needs extra sodium these days, right? Tables and chairs are all outside since the interior is quite small. On the south-facing side, there is a WHOLE lot of sun with two tables! The one table by the west side exit door was shaded...sigh, but it was occupied. Btw, the staff were super nice! Just so you know: this bakery doesn't serve matcha lattes; just your standard coffee, teas and sodas. :( In any case, pastry-wise: there was an abundance of butter croissants & almond croissants still in the case.

I love love Arsicault and this Mission Bay location is even closer to me which makes it so tempting to grab a croissant anytime I walk past. My favorite is the og butter croissant, so light and buttery without feeling too heavy that you can't eat a whole croissant yourself. Be careful, it's super flaky so will make a mess while you eat. The chocolate is my second fav and what I get when I want to be indulgent but the blackberry hazelnut croissant is such a specialty here and really what I recommend everyone to try. Such a SF staple and worth the wait!

Hands down my favorite bakery for chocolate croissants and kouign amanns. We walked here 3 miles round trip every morning from our hotel so we could earn our treats. The line always rolled out the door along the building but it moved fast. Service is efficient and quick. They keep you moving. Everything looks delicious but my favorite are the chocolate croissants which are a perfect combination of buttery crackling flaky pastry with generous rich chocolate inside every bite. Perfectly balanced. And the kouign amanns also have a perfect buttery flake with a sweet crispy caramel bottom and sides with a peel away middle. Ample seating outside the bakery itself with a view of the water. Steps away from Oracle Stadium.

Blackberry croissant. That's the star of the show. Do not miss this. Friendly staff and delicious coffee too.

Some of the best pastries I've ever had. I recently made a couple of trips to this location as it was a five minute walk away my kid's uncle house. Both times the lines were super short I only had to wait 5 minutes at most. I had the kouign-amann, raisin kouign-amann, ham and cheese croissant, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, and a palmier. Although the almond croissant was delicious, my favorite out of all the pastries I had was the raisin kouign-amann. I had tried to make another stop this morning before our drive back to the OC but I was told there wasn't enough (I was fed lies because there was enough time). This was is definitely worth coming back to again but I'm glad I don't live in the area or else I'd be there at least 4 times a week.

Fast service bakery and one of my SF favorites! Staff are very kind and efficient in packing and serving food. 5/5 - Kouign Amman - My personal favorite pastry at this bakery. The flavor and texture profile are both perfectly mastered. The sweetness is not overwhelming and is balanced through every bite. The pastry is flaky but not too messy, and I would highly recommend trying this on your visit! 4.5/5 - Chocolate Chip Cookie - This pastry can be a bit hit or miss depending on the batch, however, I thought the one I had this time was well-baked! The outside edges had a great crunch to chewiness ratio, and the inside was warm and chewy. The chocolate is also sweet but not overwhelming.

The croissants are the best!!! You even smell the butter and flaky goodness from outside the bakery! The ham and cheese croissant is pretty big and so so good. The almond croissant is tasty too with a bit of almond paste filling inside and loads of powdered sugar on the outside. The amount of flaky layers outside and soft fresh layers inside make it worth it to wait in line. But don't let the line scare you, it goes quick. When you walk in a serve asks to take your order so they can prep and bag them before paying. I bought 4 croissants (plain, almond, ham & cheese and blackberry) for $25.

Arsicault Bakery has exceptional coffee and fresh creative pastries and bread. I found this middle gem in the Mission Rock neighborhood across from Oracle San Francisco Giants stadium while walking from Golden State Warriors Chase Center. Honestly, don't think I would have known about this very sleek, clean and efficient Cafe nestled near the Visa building which I can still remember was a vacant parking lot for Giants games. The staff was very helpful at this quick counter service with both sweet & savory selection. I choose the cranberry scone and ordered a cappuccino. My order was ready fast even before I was able to take photos the interior & exterior. Nice! My cappuccino was warm, foaming and very delicious. Excellent! The scones was still warm from the oven. Flaky, filled with many cranberries and very satisfying (I am usually not a dry scone expert yet loved this semi-sweet offering. So if you are ever near Mission Rock across from the Giants stadium popped in and enjoy enjoying your treat on an outside Cafe table "Arsicault Bakery is a renowned French bakery in San Francisco, founded by Armando Lacayo and named after his great-grandparents, who operated a bakery in France over a century ago. The typical categories are dumplings, pizza, chicken wings, burritos, coffee, sandwiches, and croissants. There is even a yearly competition in SF for the best overall flakey croissant. Every year there is a new winner. This place is a worthy competitor and it's always demand on the weekends and it's called Butter and Crumble. On the last weekend of the Summer stroll I landed on Francisco street. You will see a line and once inside you will find lots of bake goods. I ordered the classic croissant and it was flakey like some in SF. It was buttery and tasty. I also got the Corn Proscuitto Croissant and was corny like some on social media feed. I then got the Rice Roll Special Bun which was my favorite and it was savory with lots flavor. I washed it all down with Apple Pie Matcha for Don Juan De La Matcha. In my judgement Butter and Crumble is one of the best bakery in the city. Yesterday we picked up 4 pastries, rice and roll $12, vanilla apple cruffin $8, patatas bravas $10 , and coffee tahini croissant $9. Better eaten fresh and crisp asap, as it gets soggy at home. Rice and roll and patatas are too salty for me, cruffin is good like apple pie, and i like the coffee choc croissant the most. They sell a lot of merch and coffee too.

You may get yelled at, screamed at, or told to "F off" if you decide not to buy. Somehow, it makes the wait even more intense and memorable! Tip for mooncake lovers: CALL and order a day or two in advance. But be prepared--you may still receive the same warm welcome: nasty customer service! Thankfully, the mooncakes make up for it! Their freshly made bánh trung thu are incredibly delicious! The mooncakes are soft, smooth, delicate, and packed with flavorful mixed nuts, salty egg yolk, and winter melon, all wrapped in a soft, golden-brown crust. Every bite is heavenly! My personal favorite is #3 Ham Mixed Nuts. It's tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. For the best experience, enjoy them while they're still warm--fresh out of the oven, they're even better! Cash only No seating inside No regular entrance--orders and pickups are done through the outside metal sliding gate. It's a bun with a crunchy topping on the top and so it looks like a pineapple. The top coating tastes very similar to butter shortbread cookies from the Hawaiian's Honolulu Cookie company. I recommend the original custard pineapple bun. The salted egg yolk pineapple bun was also good but I think it should have had a little more filling. If you're craving savory pastries, the bbq pork pineapple bun is also good. The croissant egg tarts are fantastic. The custard tastes like a Portuguese egg tart but the crust is super crunchy and flakey. There's a caramelized sugar coating around the crust which makes it extra crispy. Highly recommend!
