Wasn't legendary compared to other bakeries in San Fransisco. But for my first time trying a cannoli I will say I look forward to keeping them in my diet!

Have come here for 25 years off and on. The current food and espresso quality I believe is the best it's been. The diplomats and cooled creamy desserts are my fav. Only drawback is the size of crowds some days.

Called the night before to order a tiramisu cake for my birthday. They wrote "happy 30th birthday" on it and pickup was so easy. I was going to Uber Eats it but it was cheaper to pick it up. I was eyeing other cakes online but this was the best bang for my buck! Cheapest tiramisu cake and one of the best! Very happy with it. Guests were happy as well. Good service. Will order again

They have amazing pastries. I got the Tiramisu, Sacripantina, and the Chocolate Cheesecake. All of these were absolutely delicious! The Tiramisu and Sacripantina were so soft and fluffy. The Chocolate Cheesecake wasn't too sweet. The staff was patient and kind. They have a few seating area inside and outside. This is my second time here. I am totally coming back to try their other decadent pastries.

This little cafe is a no-frills spot to pick up some tasty cannoli. The interior is functional but more could be done to make the decor and interior comfortable and cohesive. It does get cold inside and the vibe is a little all over the place. I did appreciate seeing regulars chatting and enjoying their coffee, though.

Really delicious and surprisingly light cakes such as their strawberry shortcake and tiramisu -- everyone always love them at parties and love them as leftovers! For whole cake orders, I recommend calling ahead, their staff are always friendly and pick up has been quick and easy!

This was a lovely place for Italian desserts during the Italian Festival in North Beach (June 2026). It's a quaint place along Columbus, bordering Chinatown in San Francisco. We were able to get some Tiramisu and Sacripantina. Both were excellent. It's kind of a tiny place, along Columbus. Service was good. Definitely will try to come back soon.

If you're looking for a cozy little caffeine haven to warm your soul on a cold day, this café hits the spot. I started with their black coffee, which had a solid, robust flavor--clean, hot, and absolutely sip-worthy. My only tiny gripe? The beans didn't taste freshly ground, and you can always tell. Still good, just not "wow, who roasted this?!" good. Now the café au lait... THAT was the star. Creamy, smooth, and the kind of drink that makes you slow down for a moment and just enjoy existing. Sipping it while the chilly weather did its thing outside felt like the main character moment I didn't know I needed. And the croissant? Fresh, flaky, and beautifully buttery without being greasy. Exactly what you want when you tear into a pastry first thing in the morning. Service was warm, ambiance was inviting, and between the café au lait and that croissant, I'd happily come back (and probably camp out by the window again).

What a fantastic gem in North Beach! This place feels like a genuine, old-school Italian cafe. I had the famous Sacripantina cake, and it absolutely lives up to the hype--light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced with rum and zabaglione. The cannoli shell was perfectly crisp, filled with a rich but light ricotta. You can tell a lot of love and pride goes into their baking. Friendly staff, great coffee, and an authentic feel. A must-visit if you are in Little Italy!

What a gem! Stella's is one of those places that makes you feel like you've stumbled into a little piece of Italy right in the heart of San Francisco. It's a quaint, mom-and-pop bakery with an old world charm. Everything in the display case looked incredible, and it all was made in-house. My favorite pastries were the cannoli and the tiramisu and my kids devoured their apricot fingerprint cookies. The cannoli shell was perfectly crisp, filled with a rich, creamy ricotta that wasn't overly sweet, just the way it should be. The tiramisu was light, balanced, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. You could tell there's a lot of pride and love behind every dessert here. The service was friendly and they were patient with us while we were deciding on what to pick. We'll definitely be back!

    Sacripantina & Tiramisu

After a big over the top carb dinner at Tony's Pizza Napoletana, we made our way over to Stella Pastry & Cafe for dessert, and it was the perfect way to end the night. This place feels like a true North Beach classic, and you can really feel that old school Italian bakery charm the moment you walk in. The space is charming and quaint. There's not a whole lot of service because it's just a cafe. We ordered the sacripantina and tiramisu, and both were really good. The Sacripantina completely lived up to the hype. It might not look like much at first glance, but it is layered with light sponge cake and airy custard with subtle rum flavor, making it rich yet surprisingly balanced and not overly sweet. Honestly, I do not usually go for desserts, but this one completely won me over. I could not decide which dessert I wanted to claim as mine. Luckily for me, my friend was too full to have more than a few bites, so I shamelessly finished most of the both. This is the kind of spot that feels timeless. Not trendy or over the top, just consistently good desserts done right. If you are in North Beach and want something classic after dinner, this is an easy choice.

I blame my daughter Inlaw for my new found love for thee coveted scrumptious pastries lol So here so many choices they've have everything from mini cookies to fancy cakes or creamed-filled pastries dipped in chocolate deliciousness. Service was fast there is no frills just pick your pastries pay and now it's finally time to eat. If your in North Beach there's so much here to eat try drink if you like pastries this is where you should stop when in North Beach. Cheers my friends and SYOY 06/09/25 review #374

This is my go-to cake place for when I'm celebrating or treating myself. The store is small and quaint, with displays filled with various desserts and sweets. It was about $6.75 for a slice of their tiramisu cake. I recommend their tiramisu as it is also one of their best sellers. The sharp bitterness of the coffee soaked cake layers is encapsulated by thick decadent, not-too-sweet cream layers. It errs more on the bitter side for tiramisu. I don't notice any taste of rum, but I prefer this more.

It ended up taking us over two hours to get our pastries, and by the time we reached the front, some items had already sold out. This time, we decided to arrive right when the line opened at 7:45am on a Friday. Personally, I'd rather get there early, wait a little over an hour, and have the first pick of pastries than arrive later, wait even longer, and risk missing out on items. We were the third party in line and placed our order around 9:05am. By 9:15am, we had our pastries and drinks. After our first visit, I wasn't completely convinced the wait was worth it. The pastries were good, but the long line and wait time didn't feel justified. This visit, however, may have changed my mind. We ordered: * Madame Lorraine * Chorizo & Tot Croquiche * Morty P * Strawberry Vanilla Bean Bun * Pistachio Cardamom Sugar Croissant * Rocky Road Double Chocolate Cookie * Classic Croissant We also got two drinks: the S'mores Mocha and the Cherry Vanilla Almond Cappuccino. Don't skip their drinks, their specialty coffees are just as creative as their pastries. I really appreciate their rotating menu. Their pastries are always so creative, and I love that they experiment with unique flavor combinations that you don't typically see at a bakery. Some items are definitely more memorable than others, but I enjoy that there's always something new to try. Their pastries are well executed. The croissants are flaky and buttery. This visit, my personal favorite was the Chorizo & Tot Croquiche. Overall, this visit was a much better experience than my first. If you're willing to wait in line, I think it's worth checking out. Otherwise, you can always try your luck with their Hotplate presale.

*** Takeout Only and Cash Only ***…read more Pineapple King Bakery is a popular bakery that specializes in Hong Kong-style baked goods and drinks. The bakery was pretty quiet when it first opened, but after COVID it gained popularity on IG and now there is almost always a short waiting line here. There is also another location in Fremont. [Parking]: Metered street parking only and the shop is located in a busy part of the neighborhood (Irving Street Chinatown aka the "Third Chinatown"). I got lucky and immediately found a 30-minute metered parking spot nearby. [Ordering]: There was a short waiting line, but luckily it moved fairly quickly. Be prepared to place your order as the staff did not really answer my question when I asked "What are the most popular items here?" Customers can also place online pickup orders via the bakery's website. [Menu]: Per Pineapple King Bakery's Top 10 Items list and Square online menu, some of the most popular items include Guava Butter Pineapple Bun and Croissant Egg Tart (Portuguese egg tart). All drinks come with a complimentary Pineapple Bite. *** Egg Custard Tart (regular HK egg tart - $2.35): A solid egg tart, but it wasn't very flaky and tasted cold. Croissant Egg Tart (Portuguese egg tart - an upgrade of the traditional egg tart with croissant crust and caramelized top, $3.90): Definitely an upgraded version of regular egg custard tart and the croissant crust made all the difference. Guava Butter Pineapple Bun (one of our most popular items - cold, sweet, and smooth butter inside a warm pineapple bun - $4.65): S-tier bun with a soft & pillow-like texture. Hot Hong Kong Milk Tea drink with a complimentary Pineapple Bite (small, regular sweet - $5.25): I sampled the drink and it had the right balance of slight black tea bitterness and a hint of milk with just the right amount of sweetness. *** Top-notch pineapple buns and I can definitely see the appeal. Now that I know the drink comes with a complimentary Pineapple Bite, I actually prefer pairing the Pineapple Bite with the drink rather than ordering pineapple buns with various fillings on their own.

I've always wanted to try this place since I see a line every time I walked by. There's a lot of foot and car traffic. It's definitely a busy area so expect to park in one of the nearby residential areas or be extremely and walk/bike/bus here! Upon stepping into the tiny shop, I was enveloped in the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies. It was tempting to put that in my bag, but I stuck with my game plan. They do self serve for all the baked goods and drinks except the pizza and focaccia. You tell the cashier what you grabbed. There's self serve complimentary water on the side too. Got a pecan swirl, one of each square focaccia flavors, and a half pizza (hot). The pizza flavor of the day was triple mushroom with sesame ginger garlic vinaigrette and mozzarella. It was 10/10 delicious!! Do note that they don't heat up the focaccia. Personally, after tasting everything, I'd say the pizza is more worth it than the focaccia "pizzas". The pecan roll was quite addicting too. You can also skip the line if you want to order online on their website and schedule a pick up time, but my gift card didn't work so I just waited in line.
