A really old school spot with plenty of locals, lots of Jameson shots poured , and surprisingly good food for breakfast and lunch . The chef works the grill hard, and the beachside vibe is always on point. A must see on every revisit

You know that when you arrive at your vacation place and the first morning you ask "where are we going for breakfast?" And both of you say "Art's Place," you know it is a great place!! The food is tasty. The service is excellent and the ambiance is fun. What is not to like.

First timers. We just moved here from Hawai'i and wanted to get lunch. Spoke with a few people and they highly recommend Art's place for a great burger. I tried the habanero bacon jam burger expecting some heat. No heat what so ever. Tasted sweet like a bell pepper. Needed just a touch of salt, season salt. Also had jalapeño poppers and those were delicious. The guy that helped us was awesome. Will be back soon. Bloody Mary was ok.

We stopped here to enjoy a weekend brunch. That was a great decision! Although we had to wait a bit to get a table, the staff was efficient as the indoor dining area is fairly limited on space and tables. They offer a good selection of classic breakfast/brunch entrees. The pricing is very competitive, and the portions was large. We like to point out that their Biscuit and Gravy is excellent! Service was fast and efficient. Next time, we will try out their burgers instead.

Everything was great from the service to the food but let me tell you it gets packed fast cuz right now it's a very small dining area I guess just during the day maybe they open the upstairs during the night and it's definitely too cold to sit outside. My hamburger was perfect and fantastic will be back

Got in just before the crowd open mic night, little did we know we were in for a treat! Not only massive deliciousness in the burger but loads of friendly folks just out to have a good time with some live music! Such a fun little place even in October! Go in season, go off season - just go!

A no frills beach road burger joint. Their burger and fries are great! Fresh, 1/2 pound patties - seasoned with Worcestershire sauce and pepper once they are put on the flat top. Hand cut fries... yummmmm The Baja burger, with the red onions and pineapple, Swiss and balsamic glaze - the flavors work!! Sat at the bar and the bartenders are ready and happy to help!

Great sandwich! The fries were super crispy, delicious ! The girls were very attentive and topped off our drink regularly. It is a small place, but the make up for the size with top notch food and friendly atmosphere. Nevermind the grumpy guy in the corner, every local haunt has one.

Helpful Hint - Use the restroom when passing in-line as getting back to it requires going back past hungry customers waiting to order. The service was unique to accommodate the busy flow. All parties grab one tray to pick their drinks and if they'd like to get anything from the grab-n-go section (granola, cereal, juice). Then, you order from the waitress in the front. She was so kind and asked everyone what they had going on for the day. We did stand in line for about 20 minutes but it went by quickly as we watched the cooks in the open kitchen. They have a relatively simple breakfast menu that can be customized to add sides or toppings. Everything is reasonably priced for the portion size. We got a berry berry waffle, which had the blueberries in the batter and strawberries on top & the chocolate monkey pancakes with bacon which had the chocolate chips in the batter and banana on top. The food was fresh made and delicious. I'd recommend coming here if you're looking for a good, hearty breakfast while in OBX with great customer service!

I woke up...and had a delicious time! The reviews here tell you how great this place is, and well...believe them! I thought for sure it would be over-hyped and not live up to what people write and say, but I will admit to being wrong. First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. And, I hope you saved room for dessert, because the key lime pie was a mouth explosion.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. If you are in the Outer Banks- whether you're staying in Kill Devil Hills or nearby- this restaurant is worth the drive and all the hype!

It can transform an ordinary drink into something special. It makes the magic of coffee last throughout the entire day. I was immediately welcomed when I walked into the Outer Bean. Initially, I was bummed because cortados were not on the menu. I asked the barista if she would try to make one. She said sure. I gave her general directions and she walked to the espresso machine. A couple of minutes later she handed me a cup with two shots of espresso and a stainless steel pitcher with steamed milk. The barista said, "Why don't you add the milk in so you get it just the way you want." I thought this was a thoughtful gesture. I thanked her and made my cortado. We chatted a bit. It turned out she is Thai and my husband is Thai; and I love to talk about Thailand. I took a few pictures. We exchanged goodbyes and I exited the cafe with a genuine smile and a very positive impression of the Outer Bean. Smiles are free and they can elevate and/or improve any situation. Plus, folks always look better when they smile. I hope you make this world a better place by sharing your smile with someone today.
