We went for breakfast and had a solid meal. The place is small so expect a wait. It was classic diner food, but not great pancakes so definitely pass on those. Eggs were cooked properly and the rye toast was nice and thick. They have shaded outdoor seating and their cheesy grits were good, basic diner grits. Overall decent breakfast, would like to come back and try their burgers! read more

Got the bacon egg and cheese on a biscuit, the biscuit was extremely dry. And fell apart the second I picked the sandwich up, sweet tea was delicious. Place is super small and crammed. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. read more

Came here for a quick lunch and a nice greasy cheese burger. Ordered the "baby art" and it was filling! I think the original burger they offer is a 1/2lb burger. The burger was perfect and fries crispy. It's kinda small inside so if it's bad weather (cold and/or rain/wind) you may want to get there early as it's first come first serve or if you don't mind a wait the building is interesting to look around. At first we were worried our server wasn't friendly but once she came to the table and time or two she was all smiles. Thanks guys! Can't wait to visit again. read more

Gotta love the name of this place. A hee, a hee, a hee... Gotta love the burgers too... well, actually gotta just kinda like'm. I would've loved them if the bread were fresher (hate crumbly, old bread) or the burger was a bit more well behaved (hate an unruly/messy burger). But for all we know they might've just been having a bad day. Check'em out and see for yourself. read more

Good small local joint. If it is busy expect it to be slow because the kitchen is tiny; be patient and you'll be fine. Don't expect a gourmet meal; the food is basic but very good. They do have great cocktails. read more

Went here on a Sunday in March when everything else was closed. What a great experience, it's been there forever and has a good vibe. Ordered the cheeseburger special and it was fabulous. Crab cake sandwich was so tender and lightly breaded, delicious. Buffalo chicken wrap was a solid wrap and really good, just didn't stand up because the other 2 entrees were amazing. Highly recommend this place, I'm going again. read more

We stopped here for lunch while visiting. A very nice place. Food was very good and service was on point as well. We got a Pimento Burger and Prime Rib Sandwich. Both were excellent. Burger was very juicy and cooked to perfection. Prime rib sandwich was very good also but if I was to pick one over the other it would be the burger. We had both onion rings and fried with our sandwiches. Neither disappointed. Wish we were in the outer banks a little longer so I could have went one or two more times. Cute little locals place with above average burgers. Came here looking for outdoor pet friendly place and this certainly fit the bill. The regular burgers uses 1/2 lbs patty so make sure you are hungry. I ordered the baby Art burger and it was a perfect size for me (forgive the absence of a photo- I was super hungry and it was super good!). Also ordered a spray tan which was fruity and fun drink using Malibu Rum. Outdoor first floor patio (where they allow pets) is low key and large enough for several tables. My husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger and demolished it. Definitely got our burger fix for the holiday. read more

Bottom Line: Super casual atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff and comforting food. Ahhh, Art's Place. So good! We stayed relatively close to here in April and tried Art's Place for lunch on a Friday. We scored the last available table inside and enjoyed the very low-key and casual atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming and attentive to the point where I almost felt like a dinner guest in someone's home rather than at a commercial restaurant. For food, we had a round of burgers and sandwiches. I got the Carolina burger which was topped with chili and was messy, hearty and delicious! I got my burger with sweet potato fries which were lightly dusted with cinnamon. I also stole a few of my husband's hand cut boardwalk-style fries which were equally delicious as the sweet potato fries. I was tempted to take a bite of my sister's Reuben wrap but managed to control myself. We had a round of teas, diet Pepsi's, beers and such to round out our meal and overall a very great experience at this beach road bar and grill. read more

Love Arts Place!!! We sat at the bar and watched the coordinated chaos as they cooked an amazing amount of food. They had Blanton's behind the bar for $11.. a great deal. But you go to Arts place for the HAMBURGER!! and it did not disappoint. The fries are awesome also This is a got to go to place in Nags Head. Worth the drive. read more

Went here twice on my trip to the Outer Banks. It was very close to the beach and close to our rental. We went for lunch and breakfast. Sadly, Art's was closed for breakfast on Monday and Tuesday. Lunch was a great. I had a burger and fries with Mozilla sticks as a starter. It was an affordable and delicious meal. We got service quickly, despite how busy it was. For breakfast, I wanted to get the sausage gravy with biscuits, but they told me they were out of biscuits. So, I got sausage gravy on toast. I am grateful that they accommodated my request. It was very tasty. Where I have to doc this business some points is the fact that it is pretty grody. When I say don't eat here, I mean it. Our server Jen D was absolutely ATROCIOUS, we sat for probably 15 minutes or so before she approached us, once we got our drinks and order out it was as if we didn't even exsist. We could also overhear several tables around us making the same comments as us about the service(mind you there is a whole 4 tables inside of this restaurant). We had to stop her to grab our 1 refill of the night, one of our burgers ended up coming out completely wrong she brought it back to the kitchen and asked them to "turn this into the right one" (which included them scraping off the old toppings and cheese and adding barely any of the correct ingredients to the already woefully overcooked burger. Highly highly disappointed given this was our second visit here after a couple of years and to see it in this much disarray is utterly unacceptable. Honestly do better. read more

Didn't know where to stop, we were starving so we decided what the heck. The waitstaff is extremely nice and personable, the menu is the perfect size, not too many choices. They have water bowls out on the deck so the pooch can even get a drink The place is a complete hole in the wall but not in a bad way. Kinda pricey our bill for 2 crab cakes one with fries and other with onion rings. 1 lemonade and 1 sweet tea was $43.00 The food was good, nothing to write home about. We arrived at 11am and they told us it would be a 45 minute wait, well we ended up waited 2 hours for a table. They were very slow with bringing drinks and food out. A lot of our order was wrong and our server said the kitchen staff was changing over shifts and didn't clear other tickets. We ended up getting charged extra and had to wait for the server to change our ticket. Just a very frustrating experience and not how we wanted to start our vacation! read more

Found this restaurant here on yelp as we are visiting from NY and am so glad that we came to have breakfast here!! Wait time was 30 minutes as outdoor seating was closed and there are only about 4 tables inside and let me say it was beyond worth the wait. Service was 10/10 our waiter was so sweet and attentive. Food was 10/10, props to the chefs! We had pancakes, Spanish omelette, French toast, coffee was great. Would recommend for sure ! read more

Great place to eat but it is small. Maybe five or six tables but there is some room at the bar. During warmer weather you could eat outside. Great burgers and the French fries are the absolute best. The beer selection isn't that large but covers all the basics. The service was great. Can't wait to go back. read more

Delicious, decadent, hearty breakfast. We had Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich with optional 2 eggs on the side. We appreciated the fresh fruit garnish: strawberry, orange slice & blueberries. French toast was the bread, with quality ham, turkey & cheese. I added the 4 oz of fresh I raspberry sauce to the middle of the sandwich - that was "the icing on the cake". The sandwich was so thick we ate with a fork and knife. Unless you crave a Hangover Sandwich, the optional eggs are superfluous, although I used forkfuls of sandwich to sop up the yolk from my over-easy eggs (perfectly cooked). The coffee seemed diluted a bit, accounting for the missing star for this review. Will we return? YES, definitely! read more

Yesssss!!!! My friend suggested we stop here for breakfast on our way home and thankfully we made it in right before they cut breakfast off. We rolled in about 10:45 and they have a hard stop for breakfast at 11. There has to be a table open, it's not just being in the door before 11. I got the corn beef hash and eggs and it was perfect. The cornbeef was piping hot and their breakfast potatoes are bomb. Super flavorful with the addition of peppers and onions. Solid bread selections to accompany your eggs. Service was friendly and efficient! I'll definitely be going back the next time I'm in the area and I'll be sure to arrive earlier. They have a huge outdoor area which I'm sure is a hot spot in the summer for drinks/food. Great vibe, awesome food, and solid service, the perfect combo! read more

This place is a great find. Its easy to access, pretty much right off of the main road. There is indoor and outdoor seating (however all ordering needs to be done indoors-- they bring your food to you when it is ready though. We went pretty early in the day, 8am on a week day, and had no problem getting a parking spot on the side of the restaurant or a table. Our food also came out pretty quickly because many people were not there yet. I ordered the french toast with bacon. The berry compote that comes with it is SO SO GOOD. My partner ordered the applewood bacon breakfast and also said it was good. He also got a bloody mary with house vodka -- $6, what a deal! We didn't really interact with staff aside from them taking our order/ delivering the food but they were friendly people! Thanks for a good breakfast! read more

Initially, I was bummed because cortados were not on the menu. I asked the barista if she would try to make one. She said sure. I gave her general directions and she walked to the espresso machine. A couple of minutes later she handed me a cup with two shots of espresso and a stainless steel pitcher with steamed milk. The barista said, "Why don't you add the milk in so you get it just the way you want." I thought this was a thoughtful gesture. I thanked her and made my cortado. We chatted a bit. It turned out she is Thai and my husband is Thai; and I love to talk about Thailand. I took a few pictures. We exchanged goodbyes and I exited the cafe with a genuine smile and a very positive impression of the Outer Bean. Smiles are free and they can elevate and/or improve any situation.
