We came here for a ladies night out & had a blast! The ladies here are so kind and flexible when helping to organize a large event. The store was quaint & had such a variety of items to inspire you. We participated in the terrarium workshop and Bella was our instructor. She was so patient when working with the creativity challenged ladies and we all went home with a terrarium that were each uniquely beautiful. The workshop was reasonably priced & there are no hidden costs. We also got the choice to upgrade & we were allotted $5 in merchandise in addition to all the fun extras already included in the workshop fees. On top of all that, we also received a voucher for a discount on our next workshop visit. This store is located in such a cute & hip area of Portland. We were able to enjoy a nice dinner before & had the opportunity to enjoy the nightlife too afterwards. They have a nice variety of other workshops too if terrarium building is not your thing. An eclectic mix of plants and aesthetically pleasing odds, ends, and art, this place has knowledgeable staff (the owners) and a lovely lot full of plants right next to the store. Have bought several exotic plants there in beautiful condition. The owners love the plants they sell and know tons about them. Ask for suggestions or for more information about any plant you buy--you'll get a wealth of knowledge. Tiny little gem that is so magical! Crystals, plants, pottery -- all displayed in the most beautiful way. I know they have classes but I have only shopped there. They have a store bird that will make you smile and it really is a special place you won't find anywhere else! The staff is extremely knowledgeable on plants and happy to help! This is the cutest humble terrarium/plant/decor shop! I came in with a Groupon deal for a terrarium workshop with a friend and we had a blast! The workshop instructor was very informative and helpful; she gave a lot of tips to get us started but wasn't breathing down our necks! We had plenty of time to create a small piece of living art. I was impressed by the selection! The shop is very calming and tranquil, I recommended taking a workshop and taking a terrarium home. Artemisia is one of those places that you walk into and feel perfectly at ease. There are so many little treasures in there that you could spend hours looking around and still not see all of the magic. The staff is helpful and sweet. I bought a plant and and a pot and they happily potted it up for me on the spot. Artemisia, located on the stretch of 28th that they have flagged "28th Feast," named after the many wonderful restaurants here, breaks the mold from fine dining. Instead, Artemisia is part garden store and part gift store. In addition to the usual smattering of garden supplies and interesting plants and seeds, Artemisia sells finely crafted gifts and trinkets. Call and make sure they're open before you visit this shop. I showed up on a cold, wet Sunday morning and waited 15 minutes. No one showed up. Doors locked. Phone going to voicemail. Pretty unprofessional. Yikes. But then...she showed up and was lovely and helpful. So the 2 stars is because, though you should open when you say you're gonna, once you get service, the service is lovely. Had the service been terrible, I'd have given it 0 stars. read more

The store is plant and perfume heaven! Beautiful selection of plants and air plants. The staff was very helpful. I was able to buy my supplies to make a terrarium at home, as I was traveling and couldn't take advantage of their wonderful terrarium happy hours. This is defiantly a quaint shop to relax and build your own terrarium! The shop owner was helpful in her suggestions and offered you plenty of time to explore all the little bobbles and quirky bits! My sweetie and I made terrariums here together this weekend and it was so fun! You can choose your plants, different sands and little decorations. The staff is very sweet and helpful. You can bring your own container or buy one from them. They have lovely gems, and bits and bobs of cool stuff to add to your creation. A great place for a date, or to take your mom or kiddos. Easy to do and you walk away with a cool one of a kind piece! read more

Artemisia is my Go-To shop when I want something that I know will be a natural piece of art and conversation piece. (For one of my houses or vacation rentals) Most recently, I decided to decorate an apartment with all "living art", and no framed art. What an amazing decision. The owners and employees were very generous in explaining which plants needed more light, water, etc. And that helped decide which to buy and also, where to place them in this particular downstairs space. I bought a fern ball, which is hanging on the wall in the corner, bringing life to the room, (along with the terrarium, and the exotic potted plants I also bought there.) Sometimes, I like to find excuses just to go to the shop, as it's really a beautiful and serene place full of just the coolest displays of natural life. They apparently love kids, and it's a great place to take my niece to expose her to the natural world stuff she wouldn't ordinarily have access to living in the city and reading books. (which btw, apparently the owner Amy Bryant Aiello created all the terrariums for the Terrararium book- the book and pictures are so incredibly beautiful. I gave them a 5 star rating because this shop is so totally cool, and different every visit! read more

Really cute. Really fun to be able to pick everything out and make it your own. I did feel the prices were a bit high, but I always feel that way about terrariums - especially when a lot of plants are likely propagated. I went with my friend to one of their terrarium workshops, and it was so much fun! There are so many plants to choose from, along with all of the different sands and rocks to put in with them. The woman who taught our workshop (my apologies, I forget her name!) was so nice and explained how to care for all of the plants as well. I will definitely come back again! There was even a dove in the shop who was so cute! I really love this place. The perfect place to make a terrarium for yourself, as a gift, or with a friend! read more

The store is darling and I really wanted to purchase a few small terrariums to take home today. My 4 yr old and I deliberated for awhile, readying our purchase at the counter. Somewhere in the $50 range and she knew I had a gift card to use later as well. My potty trained but not always accident proof daughter said she needed to go, so I asked the shopkeeper where the bathroom was. "I'm sorry, we don't have public restrooms." Me: "even for customers?" Her: "Unfortunately, no, but Crema does!" I don't know why this pisses me off so much, but it did enough that I made my daughter put down the tiny, overpriced bird she wanted. Crema was clearly having some kind of large photo shoot. I'm a clean mom (well, most of the time) and my daughter did not appear as if she would terrorize their "private" restroom. And I'm clearly going to be a paying customer, possibly repeatedly, and you can't let my little girl pee in your bathroom? That makes you not really a business that wants my money. I left the overpriced merchandise on the counter and stormed out. I think I'll look elsewhere for my terrarium needs. Some place that can bear to share a toilet seat with my child. read more

The atmosphere is great....beautiful plants arranged nicely for browsing and shopping. I made my own terrarium with a couple of friends. It was so fun! I don't understand the favorable reviews. My son and I did not like this store at all. The items they sell are extremely overpriced--extremely. They are suggesting the succulents they sell be planted in terrariums in pure sand. They can't live in this medium. Sure, it looks pretty--until the plants fail and die. Attended a workshop with 5 of my girlfriends and mom last Friday and had the best time! You can buy a finished product or create your own living art, and we chose to be creative. There are so many unique trinkets and elements from nature that you can combine - the hard part is choosing only a few! We got great instruction and design advice along with plant care advice and we all left with our own little treasures. I can't wait to create some more of these. What a fun afternoon! read more
