Update: It's almost one month now and my nail is still very thin and has been constantly chipping as it slowly grows. I am still extremely upset that I cannot continue to get my regular pedicures due to this incident. It's still summer and I can't even enjoy wearing sandals anymore because of this. Such a shame. My past few visits at Ascend have been great up until today. I had the shellac manicure/pedicure done. First off, they rushed me while I was picking out my nail polish color. Couldn't even spare me 2 minutes for this. Second, the person who did my manicure did not show any acknowledgment whatsoever, she seemed angry/frustrated the entire time. She kept re-buffing and re-painting my nails. Even painted my nail polish color on top of the final clear coat which didn't make any sense? She did this about three times. As for the person who did my pedicure, she kept re-painting and re-buffing my right big toe nail with a NAIL FILER. I couldn't even count how many times. She did it so much that my toe nail started thinning and turned red. My toe nail all of a sudden became so sensitive and throbbed the rest of the day. After re-buffing my toe nail so many times, she didn't want to use the nail filer anymore and asked her manager to help her with an electric nail buffer. I complained to the manager that she buffed my nails multiple times with a NAIL FILER. She said if she used the electric buffer this one time, painting my toe nail should be a lot easier?? I took my chances and told her to do it lightly. The manager did the rest of the nail painting on my toe nail and it turned out fine. I'm not too sure what was wrong with my toe nail to begin with, I'm guessing the nail polish didn't go on smoothly??? I really don't know!! She never told me what was wrong and instead kept re-buffing my toe nail until I started telling her about my pain. They really need to work on communicating better with their customers. Instead I'm sitting here wondering what was wrong with my toe nail when I never even had problems like this before. The nail tech didn't even apologize to me until after I complained to her manager. I still had to pay $100 full price and the only feedback I got from the manager was that if my nails chipped in a few days, just go back. My nails shouldn't even be chipping that soon in the first place especially for the price I paid for and this is SHELLAC. I'm supposed to be getting what I paid for but that wasn't the case from Ascend. I really wanted to support this nail shop since I'm local but I'll be looking elsewhere now. So if you notice your nail tech re-buffing and re-painting your nails, this is your warning to walk away. This nail shop is overrated, it's seems clean, looks nice but can be deceiving. One of the worst experiences ever. The lady doing my nails was obviously in a rush and not happy to be doing my pedicure, which I get it, we all have hard days. I even tipped her $20 at the end because I hope it made her feel better. However, I let her know that I have ingrown toenails on both big toes and they need to be cut out, well all she did was make it worst, my toes still hurt from the experience. The place is lovely. Great service wonderful people. And CLEAN that's so huge for me. They use all new tools on every person ( not the case with a lot of places ) buuuuut my only problem is that my Gel polish was put on too thick. So as a result it's raised and looks thick and bulky. On top of that the top coat on my thumb nail came off and exposed the sticky first coat which was unfortunate. And for me if I'm paying good money I kind of expect that the place I go to 1. Is clean and 2. It looks great and lasts for two weeks until I can get in for another appointment. read more

This nail salon was a beautiful find! I'm new to Seattle so looking up place after place on Yelp wasn't enjoyable! I decided on Ascend and I'm so glad I did. I messaged them on Yelp to set up a same day appointment and they were able to take me at my preferred time. When I arrived, the person at the front desk was very friendly and he described the pedicure options. My nail person, Sara, was so sweet. She helped me pick colors and did a really great job in filing and shaping my nails, and cutting my cuticles. I did a refreshing pedicure and a gel manicure with removal. My total was $82, which isn't cheap, especially compared to NYC prices, but that seems to be average here in Seattle. At the end, I really liked the color I chose and the person at the front desk added the color to my profile. As you go, you accumulate points towards money off future visits. I've been going to this nail salon for almost 3 years now and the quality of service has gone down. It's unfortunate because I used to love this place and all the people did such a good job, especially Emily, but I never can get in with her bc she's booked or off the days I'm available. The last two times I went in I had to return to have things fixed and one time because the shellac started peeling after 2 days. I decided to give it one more try and I was disappointed. I got a pedicure and shellac manicure. Both people did a very mediocre job. The service was very underwhelming. Both services come with a little massage, and I barely got one. It wasn't busy so I'm not sure why it was like that. Maybe they're overworked? Long gone are the days of providing good service and taking pride in your work. I won't be back. read more

Lovely afternoon pampering session here! The salon is very clean and they make you wear mask, they do a temperature check before you can get any service as well as hand sanitizer. I got a spa pedicure and it was lovely. The massage chairs are great, there's light calming music in the background but otherwise pretty quiet, and the pedicure I got included a great leg massage. Two sloppy coats - each coat was clumpy and not even - she did not go back and clean up the nails at all - I have polish all over and even some of my nails weren't even filed and are jagged. I have been coming here for the last few years. They never disappoint. I was sad to hear about their bad experience with a customer that was in their store- so I wanted to take my time to share my wonderful experiences here. I've gone to many places for a Pedicure and by far this place is the cleanest, nicest, most professional I have encountered. Their massage seats are great and it makes me feel like I am getting a real massage. I don't ask for a particular tech since all of them do a great job and each are consistent every time. They take their time and I don't feel like I am being rushed or they are rushing through it either. The atmosphere is relaxing, stress free, and they even have AC on those hot days! This is an updated review - now during COVID. Love the precautions they are taking. Very clean and professional and great distancing. They take your temperature upon arrival, you have to complete a questionnaire, masks are required, plexiglass dividers, tables and pedicure chairs are placed far from other customers. Most nail salons in Seattle are tiny and cramped. You feel like you're sitting on top of the next person. This place is super spacious and beautiful interior. Lots of nail color variety.
