I visited during their opening weeks and, unfortunately, left feeling underwhelmed. That said, I recognize that new restaurants often experience growing pains, so I'll likely give them another chance to improve. The food was good overall, but a few issues left a lasting impression. First off, when we walked in, the smell was overpowering--like rotting fish. It could have been a large fish delivery or just something lingering from the kitchen that day, but it was hard to overlook. An air freshener system like Aroma 360 would do wonders (and no, this isn't an ad for them!). We ordered an artichoke dish, and strangely enough, it tasted like potatoes. I've never experienced artichokes with that flavor profile before, and it wasn't what I was expecting. If I order artichokes, I want to taste artichokes, not something else. What really disappointed me, though, was the bread situation. I ordered focaccia, but what arrived was clearly brioche or something similar. I'm all for creative twists, but calling that focaccia was a stretch. Brioche is delicious, but it wasn't what I ordered. On a positive note, the drinks were decent, but the bar service was lacking, though I'll chalk that up to the fact that they were still finding their rhythm. Ash is a top notch restaurant from the team behind Rooster and The Till. Service is top notch. The menu has had some reiterations and I think they have found their sweet spot. It is divided between raw,appetizers,mains and pastas. We ordered one from each section and they were all fantastic. The oysters were from PEI and were fresh and delicious. The fried artichokes are a standout and did not disappoint. The fish of the day was a red grouper presented with a delicious raisin and pine nut sauce. One of the best decisions Ning experiences I have had in a very long time. Everything from the service, the cocktails and the food was fantastic. Tucked in behind the Edition Hotel on an adorable little street this up and comer is a MUST. We went two nights during our visit; once for cocktails and appetizers at the bar and the second for dinner at the Chef's table. Both were fun, lively and we were well attended to each night. Finally, the food. Each shareable plate was phenomenal, the next dish was always better than the last and we couldn't decide what we liked best. From crude to hangars steak and everything in between. It's a fly by nighter type restaurant. There were no prices on the menu or website when we went a month ago. Waiter told us to select one dish from each section, ok. The appetizers and pasta were ok, ordered the steak and asked the waiter if I could have mashed potato's and he said the chef 99.9% won't do it, came back after asking and said no mashed potatoes. WTF! Drinks were good, got the bill and it was $85 for a steak with FAT and grizzle everywhere and this clown won't give me a scoop of mashed potatoes?!?!? FOH with that bs. My wife and I went to Ash on a Sunday night. We found this place on TikTok when we were looking for places to eat while in Tampa. We really loved the atmosphere and the ambiance of the place. We started with the wine flight which was really good. We then ordered the fried rabbit which was good, but I felt like the portion was really small and the rabbit had more bone than meat. For a $25 appetizer I was a little disappointed. My wife ordered the Strozzapreti pasta and I ordered the Ribeye. My wife liked her pasta but felt that the portion size was small and did not have much meat in it. My ribeye was absolutely amazing and was a lot of food. This was great because my wife was still hungry after her pasta so I gave her some of my steak. The potatoes it came with were really good, especially with the cream sauce that came with it. Our server was very attentive and everyone in the restaurant was really nice and were constantly checking on us even when our waiter wasn't there. The restaurant closed at 9, but we probably didn't leave until 9:30 due to us still eating our food. Our server never rushed us and neither did any of the staff even though we could see they were cleaning up. We were even offered desert which was amazing. We ordered the Marzipan Sundae and it was absolutely delicious.Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely come back. read more

Just want to start by saying that our waitress was amazing. Smiling, knew her menu and was very nice. The food was okay. We had the maldave pasta it was good but a bit salty. The focaccia was very greasy and I couldn't finish. The inside seemed empty but most people were being sat in the patio. My husband had the pork chop and looked good. He said it was really good. As far as options on water street Ash wouldn't be my first pick at the moment. The decor and presentation is beautiful, and I actually love that this place is tucked away from the busy streets. Our service was great as everyone was very attentive since when we went they had only been open maybe a month. For drinks I ordered an espresso martini which they make differently than usual I was told. It was good but nothing special. I also got the Casarecce Pasta which was delicious, however I was not a fan of the garnish and had to take it off. I think the concept of this place is great and I hope to see the menu develop more over time. read more

If you are wanting to try ash I would recommend skipping. I am a big rooster & the till fan so had high expectations and they just fell flat. From start to finish it was just not an enjoyable experience. If you aren't a downtown Tampa local I think you would have a hard time finding this spot. It is tucked behind the edition with no real signage. Starting with the ambiance the outdoor seating felt last minute and thrown together. When you walk in at first glance the restaurant seems cute and trendy but after taking it all there are too many textures and details that aren't well executed. The menu looked absolutely delicious and we were excited to start our night. The wine list had good offerings and if I were you I would stick to wine. The cocktails were extremely small you would need at least 2 for the size of a regular one. We decided to start with the focaccia, artichokes, and fried rabbit. The focaccia came out first and I really enjoyed it. It was paired with a ricotta dip which balanced out the saltiness of the bread. That's where the enjoyment stopped. Next came the fried rabbit and we spent the next 10 minutes eating the fried coating before we hit the small amount of rabbit meat that was provided. The artichokes came and tasted burnt and bland. The table next to us asked our opinion and after we shared they let us know they completely agreed and were not satisfied. After hearing this we decided to pass on choosing an entree and got the check. The night ended with feeling like I ate more grease than anything else. Hopefully the team can work out the kinks but for now I will not be returning. read more

Probably one of my favorite of all the new additions to water street. There is a very small but curated and well thought out menu here. I suggest sharing and ordering a handful of different dishes. All dishes are presented beautifully and the servers are very attentive and definitely convey the fine dining feel. The only thing that I wasn't blown away by and that I would appreciate to be accommodated was if all the cocktails weren't batched so if there was an ingredient that you wanted to omit or spirit swap that was able to be accommodated but I do understand with how curated the menus are why they maybe want everyone to experience it the way they were designed. I will say the Long drink does have a very heavy celery flavor. The tequila drink is served martini style definitely a sipping not a shippable cocktail. The girasole ravioli were phenomsl in flavor and presentation. The scallops were beautifully seared and the flavor from the risotto was the perfect accompaniment. I was very surprised by the flounder portion and while it did take a long time to come on a very slow night as I went on a Tuesday, it was well worth the wait. It was very flavorful and moist. I am not a huge flounder fan but this dish was excellent and was enough for sharing for two if you had a few other appetizers. I will definitely be bad. The food was good, but I like Rooster's better. We had the scallops, which came with a delicious risotto. This was probably my favorite dish. The others could have been more remarkable. The wagyu beef pasta barely had any beef in it, I found one small chunk. The fried rabbit was absolutely crunchy, delicious and perfect. Order the rabbit. But the malfalde left something to be desired. It was basic, which is tough for this restaurant group to achieve. We ordered the foie gras dessert- we are no strangers to foie and basically order it everywhere we go, but their foie at Rooster is so superior. This one tasted almost like cream cheese. Our waitress (who was amazing) could tell we didn't love it and brought us an amazing pudding dessert, instead. The drinks were pretty good, but again, not unbelievable. I think on the whole, they really will need to step up their game if they want that Michelin star. Rooster is still, by far, their superior food. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, but Yelp restricts that. read more

Upon first glance the restaurant seems really nice inside and the service was fast and friendly. It did unfortunately smell like the bathrooms just backed up or something because when we sat down at the bar it smelt awful like a porter potty (I asked my partner if we should leave because of how bad it smelt). We decided to stay because we were very excited to try this new concept. However with how expensive the menu is the food should absolutely deliver on flavor. Unfortunately that was not the case. Never have I been into a restaurant only tried a few dishes and that alone was enough for me to not want to try anything else or come back. The stracciatella sounded really nice and full of flavor.... It honestly was so hard to eat the best thing about it was the bread... even the peaches that it's topped with didn't even have a flavor of a peach. It really was shocking you would have never guessed that they were peaches. Having the oysters after that was not a great choice either. Why you would serv mushy cucumbers on top of mushy oysters with no crackers or bread blows my mind. We had one each and had to stop eating them. We thought about trying other things because we were hungry but at this point we just decided to stop and go get dinner somewhere else that was worth the money. Long story short save your money. The service was excellent. Our main server, Marvin, was informed, very personable and attentive to our needs. We had the tasting menu which came with 6 courses. While each course was well prepared and detailed, no one dish stood out as one needing to repeat. We also got the wine accompaniment to the tasting menu. The whites were crisp, the reds were fruity, soft and not too sweet. We sat in a quieter part of the restaurant, very comfortable banquette table, which worked really well for our group.
