Since I had a hard time scheduling at my primary dental care location, I chose Ashore to help me with some repairs. The dentist is very knowledgeable about proper treatment. He referred me to another dentist who specializes in root canals, since I had a tooth that needed a more detailed procedure. After coming back the dentist helped me do a build up and mold for the crown, which was inserted yesterday. Each procedure was smooth and handled with care by both the dentist and dental assistants. The office is very clean, and the office staff are all very helpful and polite. They have some good deals for those without insurance, and accept a variety of insurance plans. A few thing that can be improved are punctuality for the start of appointments. I had to wait quite a bit a few times before my treatment actually started. Dentists might also be a little more attentive to patient comfort (numbing is fine, but had some problems with pulling or tight sensations a few times). Oh Jeanne, where art thou? Five stars and thumbs up to Dr. Tsai for his skill and professional demeanor. He replaced my elderly mother's crown and did an excellent job. However, if the front office lacks customer service skills, it makes you think twice if you should continue as a patient. I recently selected Ashore Dental knowing already that Dr. Tsai was a great dentist, but mostly because of the office manager Jeanne. I had spoken with her on the phone a few times. She patiently answered all of my and my mom's questions (about a bazillion) during my parents' appointments. She is extremely knowledgeable about dental care and procedures, and is well versed in how insurance works and how to file claims. Fast forward a couple months and I find out Jeanne is no longer there! Boo, hiss. The new office manager is unfriendly, unhelpful and would I go so far as to say aggressively rude? Yeah, kinda. The other front office ladies are very nice so just pray you get one of them when you call to schedule an appointment or deal with one of them when you go in. read more

I haven't been to the dentist in 2 years and I was super nervous, found this dentist through yelp. I have medi-cal so I was also nervous they would treat me differently , but I arrived and the staff was friendly and helpful , and during treatment the dental assistants kept asking me if was okay and if I needed a break and were very considerate. The doctor was quick , and also made sure to numb me extra since I said I was sensitive to pain , when they did my filling they kept checking to make sure it felt normal , and took their time and were very patient . Dr. Tsai might be a great Dr., but I went in last week for a reg chk up, as initial check ups & xray are complimentary everywhere, they charged $95, plus I've no issues w none of my teeth and they start saying "you need 4 crowns" for almost triple the price of else where, then they said "if you don't want crowns we can fill them", again for almost triple the price again. Then they wouldn't let me get off the dental seat, they kept saying "which one do you want to do now?", until I said I need to leave now and process all this info..... Like I said, Dr. Tsai might be a great Dr. for his work, but his office staff is all about business, not the patient! read more

I came to Ashore Dental a few months ago because I was in need of emergency dental care ASAP, and Ashore was one of the first results in Google to come up. I had a freak accident where a shard of metal had stabbed into part of my gums and I couldn't get it out, and needed immediate help. Every step of the way, from the first phone call to the procedure to fix everything, the staff was very kind and sympathetic. My situation was a weird case but they fixed up everything quickly and gently. I felt like they really cared about helping me and making me feel comfortable during the process. Great staff, dreat drs. Cant remember the girl that took my xrays but she was so courteous and friendly. Very gentle while taking bitewings and those have always been uncomfortable or even painful in the past. Dr Hoang was so sweet and nice. She didnt try to make stuff up or force any procedures. In fact I have a couple of cavities but since they are not big, she said lets keep an eye on them. I know most dentists would fix them up to make as much money as they could in any opportunity. Dr Tsai was also knowledgable and recommended the best procedure for me. Not the most expensive choice but rather the one that would benefit me the most. Rachael the hygenist was very meticulous and has gentle hands. She was also so sweet and explained what she was doing in the process. Can I give her more than 5 stars for the coffee stains on my front teeth? Wow! No more stains and no bleach was used! The front desk ladies were very nice as well. I've been coming here for awhile and never had issues. The previous girl who no longer works there always took care of dealing with my insurance company and getting things authorized or denied if that was the case. Well things have changed. I had to wait over a month to get in and the girl Gina who I spoke with in regards to insurance related matters doesn't seem to care very much about the patients feelings or needs. I got the feeling she just didn't want to deal with finding out what my insurance covered or didn't cover. I spoke with her on a few occasions and didn't get a good feeling. She has a poor attitude also. I'm really considering changing dental offices if this continues. read more

Through a friend's referral I came to Ashore to have my crown redone. I called in for appointment and the receptionist was very courteous and accommodating with my scheduling. The office is well decorated and I was brought in right away. Dr. Matthew Tsai was extremely professional, and posses a wealth of experiences. He took care of my crown, and also made some recommendations for future work. There were no pressure sale like the others I've been to, all just a friendly and informative chat. At the end I was pleased to hear from the receptionist that all my paperwork with insurance will be taken care of, all without me making even one call. Ashore sets a new standard on how a dentist office should be run. I also learned he has recently took over Ashore Dental from Dr. Nina and her husband. So those past reviews of poor ratings would not apply. Dr. Tsai runs a first class office, and everybody in the office made me feel welcome. The front desk lady is very nice and helpful. She helped me get all the necessary information regarding insurance and benefits. The only problem is that the cleaning here are short and definitely not thoroughly done. My son and I got both go cleanings and they were less than 10 minutes. Usually cleanings take about 30 minutes or so. We do our cleanings every 6 months but last year we had terrible insurance. We had to come here for our cleanings but it didn't compare to all the other places we have done our cleanings. Luckily we have better insurance this year and we got better cleanings. They really shouldn't rush through cleanings seeing it can prevent so many health problems. read more

I have been a patient of Jason and Nina for over 3 years now since they took over my old dentist's practice. They have been terrific. I have always wanted straight teeth and was never happy with the proposals for braces from other dentist. Dr. Nina was great. She explained the whole process and was very thorough. She uses some great technology to ensure that you get a perfect smile. Even though I though my teeth were straight enough after a year in braces, she insisted that we keep going until they were perfect (I'm glad I listened to her advice). The best part, the follow up has been great and she let me pay the braces off over time with a payment plan (needed as I was in college at the time). I highly recommend this group of dentists. I just got new dental insurance and I was super nervous about having to find a new dentist. Honestly, I was a little hesitant to go to a dentist in a nice building in Irvine because I was always taught that they overcharge their patients in order to stay in a nice area. However it was close to home so I took a chance. The office is very clean and it was easy for me to make an appointment over the phone. When I arrived they asked me to fill out some standard paperwork. As soon as I was done they took me back to the exam room - Almost no wait and there was a family of four there at the same time. I went back they took some x-rays and the doctor came out to talk to me and do the cleaning. I am very sensitive when it comes to teeth cleaning, but Dr. Tsai was sooo gentle! I almost forgot I was at the dentist! My husband also came for his appt. this day and he commented on how gentle the process was. I also appreciated the Dr.'s honesty. He told me that my fillings were on the older side and not the best looking. However he didn't say let's pull them out and put new ones in! like some dentists totally would. He said lets keep an eye on them during your next visit and go from there. Knowing that he is not money hungry was a relief. I highly recommend this Dentist. read more

Dr Nina and her Staff are awesome. They are friendly and professional. I have been going there with my Family for 3 Years. The Dentist is not my favorite place to spend my time and I usually am very tense in the Dental Chair but Dr Nina makes you comfortable. Dr. Nina is very caring and personal. She stops to ask if you are doing "OK" during the procedure. I love her tiny fingers doing all the detail on my Teeth from Braces to Cleaning. I used to walk away from the Dentist feeling like my mouth had been pulled apart and ached for hours. That does not happen with Dr. Nina. She has removed all my old Silver Fillings and given me Beautiful Teeth! I go every 4 Months for Cleanings and refer all my Friends and Family Members to Dr. Nina.
