POOR MANAGEMENT POOR EXPERIENCE This is probably one of few places that provide big portion for the price. If your order séaseme chicken you're better off to pay the extra buck for white meat. The dark meat was hard and crunchy. It tasted like it was refried meat. Although, our waiter Joseph was nice and friendly his service was NOT prompt. Joseph acknowledged I needed a refill even though he passed by my table twice. I never received my refill of tea. I brought it to the Managers attention of my Poor experience. Mind you this waiter had four tables serving over 20 people at once. I suggested she get him some help. Managers response, okay I'll let him know, he's not that busy. During our latest staycation, my wife suggested trying her new favorite were they order food from work and I was up for it. The restaurant is located at the end of a strip mall on the far west side of San Antonio, so it was a drive from our house. Upon entering, we were greeted by 2 hostesses/cashiers while they were seating customers, cashing out tickets and handling to-go orders. Within minutes, we were seated at the table of our choice and the waitress promptly took our lunch order. The lunch specials consisted of several, specific Thai​ dishes and​ a few Chinese dishes also with combination dishes available. The only issue we encountered was all lunch items are set and cannot be altered; however, customers can order from the lunch menu. So, I ordered the shrimp pad woon sen which was on the lunch special menu, and my wife ordered chicken pad thai without peanuts which placed her dish on the regular menu - she could have removed the peanuts. My food came within 15 minutes and it was perfect. The plate was filled with glass noodles, vegetables, egg, and a nice amount of shrimp. In fact, small bits of the ​egg was​ on the noodles and larger clumps of egg were dispersed in the mixture. Each bite was flavorful and had different combinations of shrimp and vegetables seasoned well. Finally, the restaurant had hot oil on the tables and the mixture of oil and seeds were perfect. Finally, I was skeptical​ about​ trying another restaurant because​​e my wife and I witnessed the closing of an excellent restaurant downtown, but I am happy that my wife found this place. This was my favorite go to place however recently the quality and price had me searching for a better value. I like the chicken salad especially the dressing on top the soups are signature and enjoy the chicken soup. I also think the spring rolls are the best out of any other spring rolls I have had but my favorite has to the fried Tempura shrimp. They are really big and fresh. read more

After checking into our hotel, my husband and I were really wanting a nice relaxing dinner. We went to 2 other places first and found long waits and loud groups. I found Asia Kitchen and thought it might be worth a shot. I can't go five stars with this place because I didn't think my larb salad was as flavorful as it should have been. It was too heavy on the meat, and I like meat! I didn't detect a whole lot of spice and I believe some of that was an issue with the heat (a little confusion when I asked for a 3 and meant on a 1-5 scale, our server said they use 1-15 scale and I asked for a 7 and my dish was still totally mild). It just did not wow me. But it was still good quality and tasted all right, and the portion was more than I could eat. My husband felt very similarly about his yakisoba...good but not amazingly so. I did like that my salad came with a bowl of rice because I often order beef salads and then a side of rice, at other Thai restaurants. We split the rice and it was awesome. I tend to judge Asian restaurants on their rice so this place totally passed on that count. One reason I do feel they are a great place is that when we came in there was a loud family with small kids in baseball gear and they recognized us as a couple with no children in tow, nicer clothing, etc, and immediately seated us in a different room at the opposite end, where two solo male diners were sipping beers and relaxing. We were right next to a large aquarium and our server was attentive. There was another employee sweeping the back portion of the dining room with a straw broom and he actually asked us politely if we minded what he was doing. Heck no. But after some places where they will start loudly vacuuming during your meal, we really appreciated that courtesy. Service level is high and prices are very fair, especially for a city. If we return in the future I will try other dishes and ask for a heavy spice level. read more

I wish I could write a good review as this used to be one of my favorite places to eat for the past 15 years. Sadly, the service and specially take out orders have been big a disappointment. This is my third time ordering take out and getting a incomplete order; when I called back they offered a 2 dollar refund, but my intention was not to get my money back but to make them aware of their mistake again. I was treated with such disregard that I felt offended. We all have to adapt due to COVID and loyal customers like myself will continue to support their favorites restaurants to help them pass this difficult situation, unfortunately I will not be supporting Asia kitchen anymore. read more

ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC. The manager, Kimmy, is wonderful. My family and I have been going to Asia Kitchen for years and love it so much. It's been the 'treat' I get myself during this pandemic when long weeks seem even longer. I placed an order tonight and had to leave really quick to try and make the cut off for the vaccine at Christus & wasn't able to get my food. However, they kept my food fresh and the manager Kimmy came out to my car and talked with me to see how everything was. It's so hard to find good customer service now days, but you'll definitely get good service here. Not even mentioning how amazing the food is! Thank you so much, Kimmy! One word. THAI HOT!! If you love hot Thai like my husband and I do, this place is for you! We had the Ka Pao. When we asked the waitress for the hottest she had she told us to make sure we wanted it that hot. We eagerly said yes. We were informed that if it was too hot it couldn't be returned. No problem, we ate it! We were so happy that it was as delicious as we had hoped it would be. This place was a great choice for us. We were celebrating my sons Air Force BMT graduation and brought the whole family. My sister had the pho soup and the portion was so huge, she couldn't finish it. We all had desserts. Friday lunch time and I was getting hungry. Out running errands and decided to treat myself to an old reliable.... Asia Kitchen Walked in and was seated almost immediately. Smiling friendly service from Celeste. I ordered the chicken Curry and Sesame Chicken sauce on the side on her recommendation. The chicken curry was soooo good! So flavorful with lots of potato and chicken. I took my sesame chicken and dipped it in the curry.... the sesame chicken was crispy and perfectly fried. This place is awesome. The dine-in experience during COVID was awesome. You are required to wear a mask, then they take your temperature before even being allowed to step inside. Then they sanitized our hands before being seated at a clean and predisinfected table, where you are then allowed to take off your mask. You pass the kitchen on your way to the seating area where you are able to see the cooks who all are wearing masks and gloves. The portions are HUGE and super affordable! Not to mention delicious. The staff is so sweet and just so welcoming. The fact that they are offering delivery service to accommodate the pandemic is awesome as well, we will have to try that. I've been coming here for years, food is great. My last visit although was disappointing when I saw that I was charged $1 for a to go cup and container. I get that businesses are struggling during this time but I know that it doesn't cost fifty cents for a styrofoam cup which leads me to believe that they are making a profit off these containers. My husband and I went here for the first time for anniversary lunch and we really love the food its very tasty fresh food was great however the only downfall was there was only one waiter and it was at a busy time and I suggest that if you really wanna order from there I would call in the order and take it to go because it's just ridiculous on how long you have to wait to get your ticket when you're ready to leave being said that there's only one waiter but other than that the place was great very clean and the waiter was very respectful and did a great job in a timely manner getting our food out and we had a really nice time for our special day. read more

We are fairly new to San Antonio and have been in search for a good Asian restaurant. We love trying different ethnic foods but we are very particular when it comes to Asian since we grew up on it. We have visited many Asian restaurants and this one by far exceeded our expectations. We went here on a whim after reading the yelp reviews. (We were a little hesitant at first because we didn't want to walk away disappointed). We were sooooooooo glad we did!!!! I had the pineapple fried rice, it was so delicious!! My son had the chicken pad Thai lunch special, he thoroughly enjoyed it! I forgot what my hubby and daughter had all I can remember was that everything was delicious and we all agreed that we need to return very soon. The service was good and it seemed to have a lot of regulars who come in. It was a very nice restaurant and very affordable even without a military discount. For a family of 4 our bill was about $35 excluding tip. This will be one of our regular go to places to eat for now on. read more

I finally had with this place! I feel sorry for the owners because the way its going it wont be long for this place to lose customers. The last couple of times i ordered to go, they messed up my tom yum. Today i actually decided to dine in and it took forever to get anything, food came out wrong not once but several times drinks not served or refilled manager on duty had a bad attitude, three tables actually complained the time we were there. The food was absolutely disgusting. So bad I couldn't even eat it. What a freaking waste of money. The appetizer was mostly burnt as you can see in the picture (House Delight). The Phad Thai was so spicy, I ordered medium spice but it had to be hot. It also had no flavor other than hot...the noodles were also like rubber and the lime was so discolored. For those reading this review that are looking for a diamond in a sea of coal for San Antonio Restaurants, look no further than Asian Kitchen. Asia Kitchen has been on my rotation for 25 years and remains as good as it gets. The only thing more authentic than the Tai and other Asian dishes they deliver is the owner and the wife ( I believe they are her Asian family recipes) who have since passed the keys to the kingdom to the their lovely daughter and enthusiastic wait staff. Good people, good energy, lotta love in their restaurant but I digress, you want to know about the food and not my sappy feelings for people that don't know me personally but assure you they would recognize me and my family in a heartbeat. Lets start with the Spring Rolls. Good-luck trying to have only one, they are that good. Keep in mind there are days when they are better than other days, as sometimes they are fried a little more than others but on their worse day they are 10X better than anything you can get elsewhere and be sure to lather up those octane charged Tai Sticks in that red suite sauce they keep in ample supply on the table. The dishes regardless of what you choose are always home made and the trick is to find one that plays to your culinary senses. For me, I have two dishes that are my "go too". The first is the yellow coconut curry, it should be criminal to serve something that delightfully delicious and addictive. The second and a huge surprise, is their Pho which is IMHO is the best in SA and most unseated noodle broth in the city, absolutely stellar.. The price for the quality, taste, and sappy love vibe makes Asia Kitchen perhaps the #1 go to destination in San Antonio. A top of the hat to the chefs. read more

The service has gone DOWNHILL by far! The waitresses are nice as can be, but overworked and really do NOT like any adjustment to your food! You food here btw is NOT fresh...a little insider: They premake portions in the back and place it in hot buffet warmers! Any adjustments and they have to make it fresh! My 100th review goes to a place I've probably visited 100 times: Asia Kitchen. Great for carrying out and dining in, this place offers an extensive menu of Thai and Chinese delicacies. The lunch specials are huge, delicious and cheap ($6-8). If I'm with a large group, I always order an appetizer of beef jerky to share. Most people have never had Thai beef jerky, so this always goes over very well. For takeout, my wife and I like to get Thai curries--yellow (potatoes, carrots & onions) for her and green (snow peas, bamboo, carrots, basil & eggplant) for me.
