This was my second time coming here and I wasn't impressed much. I was craving some pho and came here because not many places in the area serve it. To start, we got the spring rolls with peanut sauce on the side. It was really good, flavorful and enough to get your appetite started. Probably the only thing I enjoyed. For the main dish, I got the all in one pho which came with an assortment of different kinds of meats. It wasn't as flavorful as some of the pho I've had in the past. It just seemed like it was lacking some ingredients or something else that pho is iconic for. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. There was also some fatty/gelatinous ingredient in it which I could not figure out what it was so I removed it put it to the side. We also got a taro bubble tea before leaving which was good, but not as good as others I've had in other places. It was also a smaller size for the price we had to pay. Finally, the service was horrible. There was only one server for the entire restaurant who failed to be attentive and aware of our presence. He only came by about two times to check up on us. Our experience was disappointing to say the least. I wish I could give this place a better review because I love this type of food, but our experience was far from impressive. This restaurant, I could give 3.5 stars for the food, 4 stars for the service. It is difficult to find a good Vietnamese Pho in Savannah. I went to downtown Savannah to have pho in 2 different places with good Yelp rating before, but ended up pretty disappointed. Either too much MSG that after eating, I was super thirsty during the night. Or the restaurant put too much spices in the soup, and I didn't care for the taste. I passed by Saigon Bistro couple times, and saw the message below the name of the restaurant, it says "eat healthy, eat here". I kept thinking I should have tried it at least one time. Finally, today I had a chance to visit. I ordered beef pho, papaya shrimp salad and Vietnamese iced coffee. Pho came out with a small dish of vegetables. I was surprised I could see mung beans in the beans sprouts. I wondered the bean sprouts was in the fridge for too long? It would be nicer to give customers nice looking bean sprouts than the one with Ming beans on it. Pho doesn't have broth taste, but I didn't feel thirsty after all, I think the restaurant just needs to find a way to improve the taste. Papaya Shrimp salad is amazed good, I was surprised again (good surprise!) even though it costs $6+ dollars for a small portion of salad, but I think it is worthy! Vietnamese iced coffee was too weak. If you ask me whether I am going back again? I guess my answer is Yes. If they can make good papaya salad, maybe rice dish or signature Vietnamese sandwich would be better than Phos? A/C didn't seem working properly. Service was slow little bit, but employees were polite and friendly. Environment was clean. I just wish they provide napkins on each table instead of asking waitresses to bring to me. read more

Love love love the sa-te noodle bowl. Is served with rice noodles, bean sprouts, basil and cabbage. The atmosphere on the exterior and interior need some major work but the food is delicious and flavorful. Saigon Bistro is the trendy new hot spot for Vietnamese food lovers. Located on a corner lot next to bank of America, it has bike parking with a private parking lot in the rear. I stumble upon this place because i was really hungry for some healthy food. The decor inside was nice, it had a buddhist theme. During the weekend, this place gets a little crowded with many Vietnamese people from out of town. I love the fact that their food is authentic Vietnamese cuisine. They offer vegetarian choices for picky eaters. I brought my parents here, usually they complain and make ridiculous demands at any restaurants. Asian parents can never be satisfied with anything. . However, their servers are absolutely wonderful people. They beckon and charm my parents who are always demanding. My dad order the bowl of pho, even though he couldn't eat it, it still tasted pretty good. I order the rice and pork chops. Did you know "com tam" means broken rice in Vietnamese? Well, their rice was suppose to be broken and the pork chop tasted a bit old. The rice ended up being sticky.. Sticky rice in Vietnamese means "soy rice" it is often sweet and comes in different colors such as yellow, red, orange, or blue. The bubble tea is awesome here, they actually improve to make it taste better. I recommend them improving the quality of the food because of the price. I had a pleasant time dining here. read more

On a cold day, I want pho. I'd passed Saigon Bistro several times and decided to try it. The broth was amazing -- clear, hot and flavorful. The chicken and the rice noodles were plentiful. And the herbs and sprouts were super fresh. This place is in my top five soup joints in Savannah. My only quibble was with the fried summer roll. The flavor and the exterior crunch were fine, but the texture of the meat inside was surprisingly soft. I've never had or made a bad fried Vietnamese spring or summer roll, so this surprised me. I went there for dinner and had pho with papaya and shrimp salad and a beef salad. Both that's the shrimp and a beef were thinly slice it and raw, splashed with fish sauce and lime juice. My dining companion and I didn't know there'd be raw, but we weren't deterred. We loved the salads. I preferred the crunch of the papaya and shrimp, while he loved the beef and the mounds of whisper-thin sliced onions. The massive dinner for two was $38 before tip. Oh, they don't sell alcohol. The chicken soup alone was about $9 before tax, a fine bargain, and they offer 5% off if you pay cash. It's a dollar more for the various cuts of beef. They do carry out, dutifully keeping the broth separate from the rest and tightly knotting the bag, but the broth is in a big Styrofoam cup with a lid and a straw hole. Careful as I was, I spilled a good bit of it on my last turn before getting home. So dine in. This broth is too good to waste on your floorboards. read more

This is one of those hole in the wall places that the locals call their favorite! Awesome / authentic food. We're often the only white folk in the restaurant, yet we're always treated as friends. Everyone there is friendly. One of the waiters who often serves us, Alex, has a great sense of humor! You get a good size plate of sides; but if you need more, just ask. They'll be happy to oblige. Okay, so this place is your average hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese stop. I can't give four stars but I will say their Pho is some of the best I have had in Savannah. I tend to get take out which is quick and easy. I also would recommend their avocado smoothie. I think this place just needs some TLC. It has good food but the service and appearance could use some upgrades. Also, I REALLY am sad every time I have their peanut sauce. It is kind of watery and I LIVE for that stuff! Saigon Bistro is in a somewhat unlikely and unassuming location. We seated ourselves and got our own menus because there wasn't a host or a greeter, which was a little awkward but fine. The waiter was efficient and all business - no friendly banter or small talk, which was also fine. He got our order correct, was attentive to our table, and brought our bill quickly. You can't ask for much more to be satisfied. He perked up some as we were leaving and gave us some friendly advice about St. Patrick's Day in Savannah, which was nice. The spring rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was flavorful. For our entrees we had the pho with brisket and shrimp curry with rice noodles. Both were excellent. Lots of flavor, good presentation, good portions. Total bill before tip: $26 (we drank water) We will definitely be back. Stopped here after a long drive from Miami. We ordered take out: pork chop with rice, pork vermicelli noodles, spring rolls and egg rolls. Rice and vermicelli noodles were dry. Pork chops lacked traditional Vietnamese lemon grass marinade. Spring rolls was floppy and it's sauce was sour - probably over due because it was watery and sour tasting. That shouldn't be so for spring roll peanut sauce. The only thing that was actually ok were the egg rolls. Probably because it's premade and has to be deep fried... This is my comfort station for Asian food. Not much competition to compare with in Savannah. There are plenty of eateries but this one executes. Lackluster interior but the food hits the spot. Pho broth is slightly greasy but you overlook it because of the flavor. Fired rice is well seasoned. The pad thai is another favorite BUT it is NOT Thai style and made in a dry sauté. Staff is friendly and chatty and there is ample seating. It would definitely be my weekly destination if I lived closer. read more

Seeing the complaints about this spot truly surprised me. I've been eating here for years. The pho is the best I've had in Savannah. I used to frequent this place a lot. Today I ordered the Beef Curry with rice to go. When I held it, I noticed it was MUCH lighter than usual. Got home, opened it up and my jaw dropped. My portion was considerably smaller that usual. They used to fill the container up with so much curry that they had to put the rice in a separate container. I guess Covid has forced them to skimp on their portions. Too bad their prices don't reflect that. This place is located in a weird area and isn't the nicest looking place, but all in all, it was average. The pho broth was quite plain in comparison to the pho I've had around the Atlanta area. We got some really fatty pieces of beef in our pho that we couldn't eat - not really good, considering how little beef there is to begin with. The banh mi was on very plain French bread that did not taste very fresh, but it was still good. The flavors are not very complex here. The service was subpar, and I never got my water refilled the entire time, but food came out fast (though it's just soup and noodles so that's why). I came in for a quick snack Togo, I ordered the Thai Iced Tea and the Fresh Spring Rolls with shrimp. The Thai iced tea was great, very good balance of tea and condensed milk to give that sweet satisfying flavor. It is a little pricey so it's an occasional treat. The fresh spring rolls were ok, they did taste like they were made for my order, but the lettuce had some wilted spots and the shrimp wasn't properly deveined. The sauce that came with them was different than the sauce I usually expect with fresh spring rolls, more spicy and thin than thick and sweet. I also would have liked more of the fresh aromatics like basil, it tasted a little bland with the amount that was put in them for a normal order. I would get them again, but I'd probably opt for the pork or beef before paying the upcharge for shrimp and ask for extra aromatics. The man who helped me was very nice and my order was made quickly. I had originally wanted coconut soup which they don't serve (I didn't call ahead or check the menu online so that was my fault for assuming), but he was very nice and told me a couple suggestions of different restaurants that may serve it that are close to where I live! read more

The restaurant itself is clean and AC worked wonderfully, but the food was not too my liking. It was one of the cheaper pho places we found. PHO Beef pho was WAY too oily and salty with too much impurities in the broth. It's the kind of broth that coats your mouth with grease and, before adding any condiments in, there are beef bone impurities floating on the surface. However, if you like your pho like this, then this place is perfect! BAHN MI Bahn Mi was alright. Not the best but definitely not the worst either. Down in Savannah for vacation - figured friends and I should try the place and compare to home. The Vietnamese crepe appetizer was ok. Didn't like the pink pork they use and the crepe lacked color - a pale beige instead of being yellow. Had to try the pho to compare - xl bowl with everything was definitely xl. My excitement for the quantity was nulled by the quality. The broth is disappointingly bland and the bowl was 80% noodles. Lack of meat and flavor killed the experience. One friend had a beef rice dish - she liked it, so one star for that. They had boba tea - bad idea. Haha. The milk tea was obviously from powder and way too sweet. Then the bubbles itself was not chewy. They tasted like they were over cooked then re-boiled to get the texture. Not sure how the rest of the menu is, but won't be going back to find out. We ordered tofu and pork skin spring rolls and the peanut sauce they came with was very diluted, which affected the taste drastically. For our main dishes we each had pho, one tofu and one beef/tripe. The broth was decent but there wasn't much protein or veggies in the soup. We had to share a plate of cilantro, basil, jalapeño, and limes. The server was very nice but was by himself in the front of the restaurant so he was spread pretty thin. I had the chicken b'un (vermicelli bowl) and my buddies had the steak pho. The bun was rather bland compared to the places I am used to back home. Perhaps it was the lack of veggies or the sauce. The chicken was the best part of the bowl. Fairly tender and good flavor. Price wasn't too bad, but on the higher side. My buddies said the pho was good and one of them eats pho frequently. He got double meat which was an extra $6 which I thought way too much. Both said there was a meager amount of meat with the standard amount. Service was good, but we were the only ones there at 5PM. In my opinion, there isn't much variability when it comes to making pho. You either get it right or you don't and I have yet to taste pho that was bad. If that was all there was to say I'd put in my 4 star rating and and this review but there is one thing about this place that really stood out to me. The quality of the service in terms of speed, friendliness, and attentiveness is superb. I honestly cannot remember a time I've had service either as good or even better. This is all because of one man, our server named Alex. Upon my arrival I was immediately seating and orders were taken as soon as I was ready. Even as more customers arrived he still maintained the same level of professionalism and speed with me and every new customer that arrived. Even made small talk with everyone and it was very pleasant. This man really ties this whole place together and vastly improves the quality of the whole restaurant and it will be a sad day if this man leaves and becomes a waiter at a high class restaurant, where he will have absolutely no problems rising to the top of the ranks of serving in fine dining. read more

This is my husband and I's favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the Savannah area for Pho. Great prices and some of the best service I ever received. The staff here is super accommodating; during one of the many times I came, I accidentally dropped the lid of the chile into my Pho and after bringing it up to the waiter, he replaced my entire meal free of charge even though it was no fault of theirs but due to my clumsiness! One of the male waiters asked too many personal questions. Once he asked about my friends' email and sent a proposal video to her. The next time we went for dinner he asked my friend in face that what is her answer, yes or no. Turned out he sent the video to most of the customers. I went there for several times, but the waiter seems only care about male customers. He will give discount or even a free Thai tea to them. I saw he gave apple gift card and chocolate to a boy and the boy looked so scared. He is cold to most of the woman. I think that is very inappropriate. read more

Saigon Bistro is a gem! We stopped on the way back to South Florida for some Pho Chin as my wife was getting sick and that is her "health meal". We can no longer enjoy our local Vietnamese restaurant near our house as Saigon Bistro completely eclipsed i! We ordered Vietnamese coffee with milk which was perfect although the glass was just a tad small, but still a good value. They were out of brisket for the Pho Chin so she got filet instead and asked for extra jalapenos & bean sprouts. They brought a plate overflowing with both and limes and basil! The grilled pork vermicelli was the best I've had anywhere (Seattle, Los Angeles, NYC) and it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. The real gems however were the avocado smoothie and the honeydew with boba. I was intrigued when I saw them on the menu and I am glad I felt adventurous. The waiter made samples to make sure it wasn't too sweet for us (which it wasn't) and brought us shake size glasses of each with whipped cream. THESE were outstanding and yet again I was sorry this restaurant is a six hour drive from my house! Almost better than the food was the service. We were chatting with our waiter and he told us how to make the drinks at home in detail. I half expected him to write it down for me, that's how much he seemed to want to share the goodness. I had some of the worst Vietnamese food I've ever experienced at an Asian restaurant, period. Maybe we went on an off day, but I don't have really anything nice to say about anything we ordered. The spring rolls fell apart in our hands. Our pho didn't come with any garnish at all (Apparently they ran out because a large party had came in before us. We only learned this when we asked where the heck was our garnish) The flavor was also just ok...pretty mediocre soup base without alot of meat. There were also no tendons in the soup even though it was listed on the menu. The Char-grilled pork chop came without two of the key side dishes that are typical to the dish and also listed on the menu (Vietnamese quiche was one of them...forgot the other one). When asked for it, we were told again that they had ran out. Thanks for the heads up again! Our third dish, a beef stir fry, was nothing to write home about. Overall, extremely disappointing. If we were informed of the missing ingredients when we ordered, the experience would have been elevated somewhat, but at end of the day, pho is the Vietnamese staple and I found their version completely uninspiring. read more

I just got back from living in Vietnam for a little over a year and I'd been craving Viet food ever since I left. In my opinion, Savannah has never been a place for great authentic S.E asian food, mostly because its hard to get ingredients, they have to change to accomodate a western palate or the dishes are not made by people from the country of origin. Anyways that being said, I tried Saigon Bistro for the first time the other day and I definitely was not disappointed. I had the Bun Bo Hue, and Cuon Tom (Shrimp Spring Rolls,) my boyfriend got the Pho Dac Biet and the eggrolls. Both soups (Bun Bo Hue and Pho Dac Biet) were excellent. Great authentic flavors, in both of them. They also gave you more rau (vegetables/fixings/vietnamese mint/sprouts) than US restaurants tend to, which was really really a treat for me. Note: Most Pho and most Vietnamese food in general tends to be salty. That's something that anyone eating Pho, soup or... really almost anything Viet should take into account. This place is no exception, as many of the negative reviews mention. The fried rolls were tasty too, nothing too out of the ordinary. The shrimp rolls didn't have a ton of mint in them, but were tasty and fresh nonetheless. The only think that I felt wasn't authentic was the lack of pigs foot in the Bun Bo Hue, but I really really doubt that most US folks would enjoy finding that in their soup :P I am DEFINITELY going back. read more
