    Steak, great taste
    LeeLee C.

Catering review On time delivery for a size of over 100 guests. Food tastes good. I love the steak, so sweet and juicy and soft and meaty. I packed up a whole plate when there was leftover and my whole family enjoyed it. Their Tofu Spring Roll was also good and a child pleaser. I can see myself visiting their store some times.

Food is great: tasty and healthy. But see that "caramelized" egg? Nope, that's not caramelized.

Friends and I just got an amazing weekend takeout dinner at Asian Box. We were figuring out what to order, and this super generous ad popped up for 50% off up to $99! I wanted to get the big salmon box for $150 retail, but fortunately I was talked out of it. Instead, we went to town with 2 family boxes (1 of each kind) with many customizations/upgrades. Overall, I consider Asian Box "Asian lite" in the following 2 ways: (1) Their flavors and scents are far less pronounced/strong than those at an authentic Vietnamese restaurant, which is helpful if you're eating at work or with friends who don't like super strong flavors. It's still tasty, just dialed back. To be clear, they don't claim to be authentic, only Asian inspired, which they indisputably are. (2) Their food is lighter/healthier than at most restaurants, Asian or otherwise. Home cooking can be healthy, but restaurants tend to be reckless with oil. I highly appreciate that Asian Box is sparing with oil. On top of that, for $2 you can upgrade from rice to steamed veg (or stir-fried veg if you prefer). Don't get me wrong, I love rice. But sometimes I need to prioritize getting another serving of vegetables in. To avoid the dinner rush and bc my friend has kiddos, we ordered for pickup from 5-5:10. They were ready at 5:20, and they were super nice. The food was hot, except for salads which were cold, and everything tasted fresh. I especially give props for the shrimp spring rolls -- they tasted like they were JUST made, room temp instead of chilled, neither dry nor gummy. The shrimp was firm and fresh. All the vegetables in the rolls and in the boxes were fresh. The steamed vegetables were perfect, neither crunchy nor overcooked. Other than the spring rolls (with the exception of the dipping sauce, which IMO was too dialed-back and not fragrant), my favorite was the green curry. Again, while not as flavorful as you'd find in a Vietnamese restaurant, it's very tasty and clean, the veg well-cooked and the chicken tender. Were there disappointments? The caramelized eggs were *barely* caramelized -- they tasted like they'd been in the sauce for 5, maybe 10 min tops. They were honestly hard-boiled eggs with a tiny amount of color outside, and their centers were fully cooked, not translucent, so there wasn't even that tradeoff. In an Asian restaurant or home, these cook for an absolute bare minimum of 1 hr before they're served, and then the cook apologizes they haven't cooked for nearly long enough (everyone knows they're much better after several hours or half a day, or even the next day). Maybe there's food safety reasons not to do that, or maybe if we'd ordered for AFTER the dinner rush rather than before, the eggs would have cooked longer? Or maybe that's just how they do them here. The other disappointment with the food was their salmon. All the pieces of salmon tasted fishy. We still ate them bc they weren't spoiled and salmon is super healthy, but Vietnamese fish should NEVER be fishy! Vietnamese traditionally use a bunch of different herbs/pastes/curries to cook fish, which may include lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, garlic, chili, pepper, cilantro, basil, dill, mint, green onions, scallions, etc etc. Unless the fish is outright spoiled, no fishiness will survive that! Even if you dial back to a little ginger and lemongrass, it still wouldn't be fishy. So yes, I was very glad we ordered a variety instead of going full-bore on the 10-person salmon I'd originally wanted. :) There were 2 minor irregularities not related to food quality. First, our 2 family boxes should have come with 4 cookies each, for 8 total. But we only received 2 in each bag, for 4 total. OMG, their cookies were SO much better than I expected! Their texture is tender-crisp, and they're sweet without being bitingly sweet. I am sad for my mouth and happy for my waistline that we ended up having to share cookies, instead of everyone having their own (with one to spare or fight over!). :( :) The other issue, and I suspect this was a programming glitch, is that Asianbox.com applied sales tax BEFORE the 50% discount, as if we had used a gift card for half the order, instead of their site automatically adding this weekend's 50% discount. So for the period of the promotion, they're may be collecting 2x the tax they ought to be. Hopefully they'll fix that glitch before too long, and maybe tip out the overage to their staff. I feel their portions are healthy, enough for many adults without being too much. Extra protein is $5. I ate half of a: spring roll, entree, cookie. At one point they used compostable instead of plastic boxes. That would be cool for them to bring back. :) Overall, I'd give 4.5 stars, happily rounded up for today's generous discount. And I'd come back for more curry, spring rolls, and cookies! -- and maybe swap out the spring roll for a caramelized egg if I came after a meal rush instead of before.

You can't find anything for $10 nowadays, but this bowl of pho is $10. I went walking around before a comedy show and everything was so expensive and I found this!

This is a healthy alternative my bf and i would come to for some protein and vermicelli noodle boxes with veggies and good flavor. The girl helping us always has a good attitude. Would recommend to check out. They do have seating inside and patio is good during warm weather

I ordered the Vietnamese hot chicken. The plastic box is pretty small so portions are small. When I opened my bowl, the chicken was literally drenched in their hot sauce, which was all I tasted. Other flavors were non existent. And the amount of chicken they packed was less than ten tiny pieces. When I finished everything, I was still hungry. Overall, it was such a huge disappointment and not worth it.

    Veggie Green Curry

Yummy curry, semi-overpriced but Asian Box usually is priced in the higher end. The taste was good, pretty standards and was okay even without meat or a ton of protein like their other boxes. It was my first time trying it, so wasn't too bad. I liked it and I usually eat their other boxes with meat before trying to go majority vegan and vegetarian, so I was satisfied (outside of price). Service Nice staff, though their register didn't work at all, new system I guess. I always come back to Asian Box, nice they had a location in MTV I didn't know about prior!

Worst boba ever! Aside from i cant see boba! No brown sugar taste at all! And cup is a lot smaller than usual! Their picture (with clear cup is misleading) i dont recommend)!

I love Asian box because of all the customizations that work with all kinds of dietary restrictions and the flavors are delicious! We got: Salmon bowl Chicken Curry Taro Boba Jasmine Boba I usually get the chicken box with tamarind sauce on the side as my go to but I tried the salmon this time and it was REALLY good!! Well cooked and sauce on the side because honestly it didn't even need the sauce!! The chicken curry was also delicious - the sauce is great! I just wish there were more veggies in it so maybe next time I can customize and add that. The steamed carrots were a bit bland but the rest of the dish was great. Also did you know they have boba now?? My one drawback is that you can't adjust the sweetness. Maybe that's why I thought it was so good - it was sweeter than my normal level! The boba balls were a good texture too!

Got some takeout and they have some great rice/noodle boxes. Loved the 4 box deal for a few lazy days of no cooking lunch. It came with 4 specialty boxes, 2 spring rolls and 4 cookies! A pretty good value! The portions were good and the meats were well cooked and flavorful! Lots of great variety in the specialty boxes but you can also build your own! A great option for a quick meal and some leftovers.

    Surf Vietnam Box
    Quoc H.

Takeout Order: 8/10 Surf Vietnam Box $18 - overall a pretty delicious and filling meal but still on the pricy side. Beef was tender and shrimp was cooked well. Meat to rice to veggies ratio was spot on! Added the sauce (tamarind?) and it was bit sour so I do not recommend adding lime on top. 8.5/10 Curry Chicken Box $15 - surprising better than surf vietnam box because of the curry sauce. Much more flavor and savory compared to the tamarind. Also comes with an egg and potatoes. Definitely wish it had more curry sauce tho. The red spicy sauce was ok but wasn't spicy.

asia box is a fast casual chain known for their asian fusion boxed meals. // ambiance // this location is located on castro street. they have indoor seating and there was no line when i visited. // service // someone took my order at the counter right away and my meal was ready for takeout in 5 minutes. // miss jones box $14.99 // i got the miss jones box. it's a really good portion size and comes with pork, noodles, boiled egg, and lots of vegetables and toppings. you can ask for additional sauces at no charge. i liked the sauce it came with as well as the peanut and yellow curry sauce. house lemonade is good with enough sweetness and a bit of tartness

This is a good fast casual Asian style restaurant if that is what you're looking for. Whether you're grabbing and going to a park or eating outside of the restaurant it is a quick option. I like how this menu is set up - you can build your own bowl or they have some favorite combos you can choose from. We tried the chicken curry bowl and the chefs salad. I would recommend the curry as it had more flavor and was very good. The salad, with chicken added, was a good portion and had lots of fresh tasting, healthy ingredients but didn't seem to have enough flavor to it. If you are going for the salad I would recommend adding some sort of sauce or dressing to make it more flavorful. I would come back here, wouldn't say it was the most authentic place around. Depends on what you're looking for.

Such a great refreshing place! I got the Miss Jones with a side of curry sauce. Omg I can't believe this plate is soooo fresh and clean! I loved how it was full of veggies and just so healthy. The sauce on the side was so addicting! I'm definitely gonna get a curry plate next time. My boyfriend got the Chicken Green Curry and he LOVED IT. He also got a side of red curry.. definitely a bit more spicy! Overall, our experience was great. The person who took our order was very nice, informative, and loved his vibe! We will definitely be trying out more plates from this place!

They sat us outside on their lovely patio at two long tables to accommodate our group of 24. The first thing we noticed when we sat down was the customized menus they had prepared, with the name of our organization printed at the top which was a nice touch. The organizers had opted for a family style meal, so they basically just brought out several dishes of everything on the menu spread out across our tables. The restaurant was great about crafting a menu around dietary restrictions- about 1/3 of the group was vegetarian and we also had one vegan (me), and there were plentiful options for everyone. While vegan options were not labeled on the menu, the servers are very knowledgeable and let me know that out of our menu, all the vegetarian options except the roti prata were vegan (the roti has butter). As a result I was able to try the poh pia, wok fried eggplant, sayur lodeh, and kueh nagasari. They started first by bringing out the appetizers, I personally was not a huge fan of the poh pia, I really enjoyed the sauces but I didn't love the roll itself. However chicken satay was a huge hit, I think for many it was their favorite dish of the whole meal. I enjoyed the entrees a lot more, especially the wok fried eggplant which was so wonderfully tender. The sayur lodeh was also very good, however the curry could have been more flavorful- I didn't even realize it was supposed to be spicy until I looked again at the menu after the meal. We ended with kueh nagasari which was a coconut pudding for dessert, I thought this was delicious, except I think the shredded coconut inside the pudding should have been left out since it disrupted the creamy texture. Since we had leftovers after the meal the staff brought out a ton of takeout containers and we all left happily with food to take home. Overall the service and ambiance definitely made this lunch an amazing experience. The food was pretty good but nothing really blew me away, although I'm not sure if having to serve such a large group affected the food quality. I would definitely be willing to come back again to try some more of the menu.

The parking lot isn't massive, but finding a spot isn't difficult, if my experience is anything to go by. Solo and duo diners are usually seated at normal tables, but large parties have the option of sitting in shoes-off washitsu rooms with tatami mats. The menu is very large, with specific sections condensing their vegetarian & gluten-free offerings. You get a paper menu detailing their specials, and the rest of the menu is accessed through a QR code (which I am personally not a fan of). True to its self-identification as a Japanese fusion tapas spot, the menu ranges from sashimi to soba to risotto korokke to pizza and so on. I recommend eating family-style with a group, as portion sizes are definitely tapas-sized, and trying a little bit of a lot is the best way to experience what Gochi has to offer. Though the atmosphere is great for a date night, the two-seater tables are set up very close to each other, so there won't be much privacy. Most of the dishes I found to be good, but perhaps not exceedingly impressive. The yuzu ceviche was stellar, with fresh fish and a strong citrus flavor, but the accompanying potato chips were a little thick and lacking salt. The sashimi was beautifully presented and fresh, but the pieces were a little smaller than I had expected. The risotto korokke was alright as well; the sauce was great, but the risotto inside was a little bland. Overall, I thought this to be a decently enjoyable experience. The atmosphere is great, the service is good, and the food is varied and interesting. The dishes range from being pretty affordable small dishes to a little too pricey to be worth what you get, so I'd definitely spend a little extra time perusing the menu. I will likely return to try some of the other items in the future.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and it was one of those meals where everyone at the table found something they loved. One dish I was surprisingly impressed by was the Ankimo (steamed monkfish liver in ponzu). I'll admit, the word liver immediately made me hesitant, and if they hadn't told me what it was, I probably would've been less nervous trying it. But I'm really glad I did because it was incredibly buttery, smooth, and rich. It almost melts in your mouth, and I honestly think it would pair perfectly with a bowl of steamed rice. We also ordered the Hiyayakko (cold tofu with ginger & scallions), which was a really refreshing starter. The tofu was silky smooth and delicate, and the ginger, scallions, and soy-based seasoning added just enough flavor without taking away from the freshness of the tofu. It was simple, but really well done. We also ordered the Salmon Mayo Yaki Onigiri. While it was good, I think this is the one dish I'd probably skip next time. The crispy grilled rice ball itself was delicious, but there just wasn't enough salmon mayo on top. It felt like I only got a tiny spoonful, so once that was gone, it was mostly just rice. Since my family couldn't decide, we ended up ordering all three clay pots: the Sake Oyako Meshi (grilled salmon & salmon roe), Unagi Meshi (BBQ freshwater eel), and Tori Soboro Meshi (braised ground chicken). Out of all of them, the Unagi Meshi was easily my favorite. The eel was tender, slightly smoky, and coated in a sweet-savory glaze that soaked into the rice underneath, making every bite incredibly satisfying. The clay pots also gave the rice a nice crispy layer on the bottom, which added even more texture. We also shared two of their signature pizzas: the Mentai Kinoko and the Nasu Curry. I wasn't expecting much since it's pizza at a Japanese restaurant, but they were honestly so good. The crust was paper-thin, crispy, and light, so it didn't leave you feeling heavy afterward. The Mentai Kinoko had a great balance of spicy cod roe, snow crab, mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, while the Nasu Curry had a rich curry flavor that paired surprisingly well with the eggplant and cheese. Both were huge hits with my family. The restaurant itself has a warm, traditional Japanese atmosphere that makes it feel cozy and inviting. The server was incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain the menu and recommend dishes when we couldn't decide what to order. Their recommendations definitely did not disappoint. My whole family left happy, and it's one of those restaurants where I already know I'll be coming back to try even more of the menu.

Wish there was a tiny bit more seafood but it was fresh and served on the hot plate which kept the food warm throughout the meal. Also tried the chicken karaage and veggie tempura. Flavor of the chicken was great but it was a bit chewy. It said it would take 20-30 min for the okonomiyaki but it felt like the food came out much quicker than that. Nice cozy restaurant interior, plenty of tables when I arrived around 11:45am on a Saturday but the restaurant was full by the time we left.

The workers were really nice and they accommodated our large group. The had interesting drink which I forgot to take a picture of. They also have beers by the pitcher. As for the food, I got all seafood, and the fish was actually pretty fresh. I got the salad and I thought it was going to be a small plate but it was actually a huge bowl made to share, so keep that in mind. I will coming back to try all the other stuff on their menu. If you are looking for some good eats in the downtown Sunnyvale area I recommend checking out this place.

The meat is always fresh and high quality, and the atmosphere, vibe, and ambiance make every visit enjoyable. Every time I come here, Judy is there to welcome us with a smile. She always makes us feel at home, especially after a long day at work. Judy is the best! She goes above and beyond to make sure every visit is enjoyable and always checks on our table to make sure everything is perfect. The entire staff is friendly, the service is excellent, and the food never disappoints. Out of all the Korean BBQ spots in the area, this is the one I recommend the most. They even have an awesome happy hour with $1 pints, and the staff cooks the meat for you, so all you have to do is relax, eat, and enjoy. If you're looking for great food, outstanding service, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place to go! SEORAI numbah 1

Service was good. food was delicious! the bulgogi was generous portions given the $$. The kal bi was delicious. We got the lettuce wrap (aka leaves) glad we got it because it made it feel healthier. banchan: came with: square little rice paper wraps (not as healthy as lettuce but something), kim chee, sprouts, marinated onions with peppers (spicy! but I'm a wimp, any spice is too much for me), jap chae I didn't like the self-order on tablet. (at least it wasn't order off phone, I really hate that) at other restaurants if you order enough, they "service you" free steamed egg. Here I had to buy it myself. negative, there was a dripping pipe on the floor, and we had to point it out for them to wipe it, but then it dripped more. was that water? or grease? who knows. we had to suggest they put a towel so I didn't have to stare at it creeping towards me all night. fun korean pop music in background. cheaper feeling ambiance. definitely coming again for the food and minimal line. didn't like that tip defaulted to 20% minimum (then 23%, 28%) but at least they calculate that pre-tax.

I love mochi, so I was really curious how it would work on a pizza. It actually worked surprisingly well. The chewy mochi added a unique layer of texture to the crispy crust and paired nicely with the other toppings. We also had a variety of pastas, both seafood and meat. The portions-especially the seafood and pork cutlet-were generous, and I really enjoyed the subtle sweetness in the meat sauce. The blueberry yogurt drink was beautifully presented. The little heart-shaped container held syrup that you can pour over the ice to turn it into flavored shaved ice, which was a fun touch. The matcha parfait was also tasty and a great way to end the meal.

The servers are very attentive and the wait time for the food is barely 10 minutes. Very efficient. The meals are great, the baguettes came with refilled. The whipped butter is light and creamy. I kept wonder if a drizzle of honey could amplified the taste. Pizza and pasta are obviously very taste and chewy. The restaurant is very nice and cozy as well, a mixtures of Japanese and Italian cuisines. It's a cutesy and vibrant, perfect for date. Overall, I think it's a wonderful experience and meals. Very unique concept!
