Food: 1.) Fried Chicken Wings - Fried very well as it was very crispy but also timed so that the meat was juicy and tender. The wings were also marinated well as every bite had a heavy flavor. If you go here, you MUST order the wings to try. I got the non-spicy cause my bro can't handle anything with a kick. 2.) Yin Yan Fried Rice - Big plate of fried rice topped with half tomatoey red sauce that has pork and veggie. The other side was a thick white sauce that didn't have any flavor as far as I could tell with shrimp and peas. I like the tomato side a lot more and complimented well with the rest of meal. 3.) Portuguese Pork Chops - Due to the other yelpers I've see on here recommending the Portuguese Pork Chops, I ordered it and was very pleased. The pork kutsu style pork slices were crunchy and flavorful. The curry sauce was good and works well with eating along with rice. 4.) HK Milk Tea - Decent but could use more black tea flavor as mine was a little weak. Could be just it was very busy when we went. Vinh Sun on the other side of block still does the best in my opinion. Ambiance/environment: 1.) Casual settings, few large 6-8 people tables and some 4 person tables. It's typically busy during lunch so expect noise, and waiting for table but only around 10 - 15 mins. I saw them do a lot of take out. Not a place for first date and more like the 5th. They serve tea. 2.) Don't be surprised if they seat you at a table shared with others. Standard practice in Chinatown. I'm fine with it as sometimes I get to chat with the other side. 3.) Bathrooms are decent by Chinatown std.Good size and ok clean. 4.) (Applicable to Chinese speakers) They have wall mounted HD broadcasting GZ/CCTV but hard to hear and see if you sit close to door so if you want to watch your fav drama or news, best table is the 4 person table 2nd from the wall. Prices: $9-$14 for the dishes we ordered. We skipped the lunch specials cause we had time and wanted to try the main dishes. Service: 1.) Waitstaff can speak Mandarin/Cantonese but English is only passable. My advice is to point directly to the menu line item you want so there is no confusion. All the ingredients are so fresh. You can taste the freshness of lobsters, fish and chicken. Not the typical frozen meat smell. The quality of the food, the perfect control of temperature and cooking time is superb. The dishes remind me of legit seafood restaurants in Guangdong and Hongkong. It came recommended, so we hoped to pick up some food to complement our Chinese New Year celebrations. This is the restaurant that my family always goes to traditional Southern Chinese food. We celebrate every single family occasion here. That's how committed we are to this restaurant. Why? This particular restaurant has always been consistent with the way they cook each dish! Their service has always been phenomenal. Also, their prices are pretty low but fair compared to other restaurants. These are main reasons why I always recommend this restaurant to everyone. My family and I came here on Christmas Day to celebrate Christmas! The restaurant is packed as usual. They will make reservations even the day of. They have additional seating in the basement! We ordered pea pods sautéed in garlic, crispy chicken, duck topped with crispy taro, ginger scallion lobster, sweet and sour pork, steamed fish, calamari, and sliced beef with string beans served in sizzling hot plate. I never dine in but always take out when I am eating at my grandma's house. The jellyfish itself or with chicken is the best in Chinatown, the jellyfish are thick and smooth... most restuarant are thin. The steamed razor clams with vermicelli tastes really good with garlic. There are some really hard core Chinese dishes on the menu - some things which I have not seen since my time in Hong Kong. My expectations were very high. We started with Crab Rangoon for appetizers. A standard Chi-Am dish found everywhere the dish came with 12 dumplings which were not heavy and light and crispy! Can't find a lot of good reviews around Chinatown with good Chinese food especially when I'm so used to living in the San Gabriel Valley in California with nothing but good Chinese food. Our uncle took us here to eat with his co-workers for Thanksgiving. We had lunch here but they had ordered easily about 12 plates with a mix of lamb pot, lobster, fish, beef and veggies. I was overwhelmed a bit especially with our flight back to CA later in the day. However, the taste and style reminds you of some of the dishes you get in Hong Kong and especially in the San Gabriel Valley which made me feel like I was back home. The service was also surprisingly better than most restaurants you'd find in the SGV. Taste wise on par which I was surprised as Boston has a small Chinatown to begin with. A very average experience here at Asian Garden. We went in for a late lunch after watching a movie in downtown. Seeing the place not too crowded was understandable (most people were finishing their meals) because it was in between lunch & dinner hours. Anyways. What we have come to expect from most good asian restaurants in Chinatown seems to be lacking here despite a very extensive menu. Between the 2 of us, we ordered two hearty dishes. The Szechuan spicy green beans with minced pork with rice was the first one. This was the better of the 2 dishes. The quantity was good and so was the heat thanks to the thinly sliced green chili peppers. The second dish was Spicy shredded beef lomein. Now we asked our waiter - (who was clearly in a lot of rush to take our orders despite a virtually empty place when we were there; reminded me of the Hitler from the Book of Mormon show we saw the night before - of course minus Hitler's comic splash, but full on with his haste and blank expressionless look) - to make the second dish very spicy. But when the dish arrived and I took a quick bite, it lacked heat of any kind. Without wasting a minute, we had to ask the hottest chili oil they had on hand. The first tiny crucible wasn't enough, so we had to ask for a repeat. So a word of caution - any item with a chili sign next to it on the menu may not be too hot really. A very atypical experience with this dish for sure. The place itself is not big as compared to the majority of China Town joints. A low key ambiance and the sight of a majority of asian patrons was a promising sight. But going by the 2 dishes we had, it felt more like having take out from a Chinese restaurant in Southie where no one can tolerate the spiciness beyond the kind one gets from a spicy Bloody Mary. It would be safe to say if every Chinese place in Chinatown was busy, I'd switch my preference and go for Sushi or Thai or Vietnamese food instead of going here. Had high hopes. Thanks to Karman L for introducing me to the wonders of Asian Garden... or more specifically, to the oral delights of their salt and pepper chicken wings. As an admitted addict of Bon Chon's KFC, I don't hesitate in stating that these wings are roughly in the same realm of crispy flavourful juiciness. Beyond the fried fowl, there wasn't a single failure of a dish. The served-in-their-shell scallops and giant clams were both doused in fried garlic that'll probably be oozing from my pores for days. The dou miu was tender. We couldn't finish off the heaping mounded plate of lobster. And they serve up a pretty decent dish of xian yu ji li chao fan (salty fish fried rice). Well, I finally met up with her here and got to try these magic wings. The deli orgasm scene from "When Harry Met Sally" is how I would describe how much I enjoyed these wings. They were crispy, hot (depending where the spices landed) on the outside and juicy, chicken goodness on the inside. This restaurant is situated on the same street as Gong Cha and Eldos bakery. I usually come here for spicy salted fried chicken, spicy salted white fish, ban lam bo (dunno what the English name is), or sauteed beef with black pepper (黑椒牛柳) to bring home for dinner. Portion sizes are pretty good at this location and generally satisfying. They are pretty quick to dole out the food to you (especially in significance of the coronavirus pandemic, you might only need to wait about 10 minutes or so). On a normal weekday, this place can be kind of quiet owing to their location away from the other restaurants in Chinatown but it's definitely a good place to visit if you are ordering takeout. They provide service in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin though I do have to say that you have to be very clear about what dish item you want from the menu as a lady ordering takeout yesterday was confusing the hostess with regards towhat she wanted (I was actually getting pretty confused myself to be honest because she was confusing scallions for scallops when naming ingredients for a fried rice dish). A friend of mine told me that he had fried milk at Asian Garden, so I just had to go and see if it was for real. I've been out on a hunt for the stuff since I've had my first at New Golden Gate, which still reigns as the best I've had thus far in Boston. I've frequented Asian Garden many a times in the past, especially for lunch. I love them for the baked rice options and find their other menu choices to be quite good. One guy friend says that their baked rice will feed him for two meals. Though we did avoid fried food, just in case of cross contamination. *** 7/2017 again *** Went with their Create Your Own Family Combo, which is served all day and is $24.95 for 3 entrees (1 being seafood) and $34.95 for 4 entrees (2 of which are seafood) from a short menu - all come with soup (choice of 4), white rice, and Dessert (after 5pm). Portions for these entrees turned out to be smaller than their normal. That was not shocking. However, it seemed the kitchen was unable to handle an order that was a mix of the family combo and additional orders off the regular menu - all our dishes sadly seemed to be skimpier than normal. Asian Garden's main floor is spacious. We were seated in the basement, which seems to serve as a function room. Staff are friendly. As with most establishments in Chinatown, this is a Cantonese run place. Best to bring your canto buddies to help out when ordering. Recommend: + Sliced fish with corn sauce. Slices of fish are deep fried in batter that end up looking like fish and chips doused on top with sweet corn cause. Sounds like an odd combo for Chinese food but it turned out great. Red bean soup are served on the house at the end. Overall, servings are generous and with 5-6 dishes ordered, total came to about $20/person with tips included. read more

My family and I've been going to Asian Garden since I was very very young and still go there for family dinners, graduation dinners, and more. The boss and his wife are always there running the business together. Occasionally their sons would help out as well. It's a locally family run restaurant. The staff are friendly and also really gets to know patrons. It's not any grand Chinese restaurant, but they definitely serve authentic Cantonese dishes. If you go at different times of the day, you get different menus to order from. I've always only come for dinner. I really appreciate the family feel of this restaurant. All the foods we ordered are served family style and in large portions. My family has a few go-to dishes that we almost always get, and all the staff at the restaurant just know half the things we'd order! We usually get the garlic scallion lobster, garlic bean seedlings, deep fried chicken, black pepper beef that comes on a sizzling pan, and calamari. There's so many other options that many might think are odd but definitely are delicious, which are the frog in clay pot or even the duck tongues (I 10000% promise they're good). There's just so much more on the menu I'd love to talk about but I think we all get the point. Comfort Cantonese Food. There's upstairs seating and also basement seating. Came here with four friends after a tip on these salt and pepper chicken wings that they have. When hearing that someone made the trek by T from the airport for these wings on a 2.5 hour layover, I had to give them a try. If I could review only the wings I would say an easy 5. These things were full of meat, hot, crispy, salty, peppery, and utterly delicious. However, some other things really fell short of good. The egg rolls were a little overcooked and the seafood roll (coconut crispy roll stuffed with seafood and custard) was one of the grossest things I ever ate. Seriously, these things look good on paper but AVOID them at all cost. The menu did not mention this mango custard. It was nauseating and had it not been for the wings would have ruined the meal. We got a garlic and onion chicken dish which was very good and their rice dishes are very plentiful. I love that they carry tsingtao beer. Haven't had one of those since I was in China. So good. Brendan and Becca: After a late night stuck at work, we were both starving and in the hunt for anywhere open to serve us dinner. We were at the point where we thought that we might have to go without dinner because we couldn't find anywhere open and even were denied home delivery. We walked into Asian Garden 15 minutes before closing and they were glad to serve us - that alone went a long way to setting the occasion. Even though it wasn't on the menu, they made me my favorite: Chicken and Eggplant. It was slightly more greasy than I prefer, but it was still delicious. A healthy serving of both chicken and eggplant. It didn't come with a side of white rice, which seemed a little unconventional to me, but the healthy portion size made me not miss it much. Becca had General Tso's chicken. It was a little more fried than either one of prefers, but the sauce was quite good. The broccoli it came with was nicely steamed, but let's be honest the broccoli with chinese food will never be a focal point. We also had an order of scallion pancakes. Much like the other food, a little greasier than desired, but still quite good. Overall, a good dinner, if not a little bit greasy. It's not exceptionally big or busy like the other restaurants in C-town but that doesn't mean their food quality or pricing is any less than its peers. I feel that because the restaurant is not as busy - the chef focuses on the quality of the dish rather than trying to whip out the dishes as fast as they can. I haven't used Yelp in over 2 years. I logged in JUST to write a review about this horrid place. While the food was decent, the servers were rude and horrific. My brother didn't enjoy the soup he ordered, so I called over a waiter to discuss the probability of a replacement. He responded with, "Really?" Everything went downhill from there. We felt uncomfortable and not only that, he kept pushing for tips. As my party of 8 were leaving, the waiter told us, "Next time you want to eat, go eat at McDonalds." I would hands down recommend the Beef Lomien it is VERY good if you enjoy a good plate of noodles...the way the noodles are cooked seems to be half fried and normal cooked..the pepper, onion, beef with black bean sauce is okay..I probably would not get it again, however it's not bad. This place is where you need to go for Chinese seafood. Asian Garden has all the Cantonese favorites down. Steamed fish, salt and pepper squid, garlic vermicelli razor clams, scallion and ginger lobster... they're all delicious. Also, if you want a real treat, order the Maggi Sauce Duck Tongues. They're the most delicious duck tongue preparation I have ever had. They're prepared in Maggi (a seasoned soy sauce), then tossed with fried garlic served over a bed of Chinese kale. This is by far my favorite place to eat in China town. Way better food than the Chinese restaurants in NYC. Every time I visit Boston, this is where my family and I eat. We never had a problem with the waiters, than again my brother's wife speaks Chinese ‍ I always order the pea pod stem and their calamari and their eggplant dish! Ps. This is real Chinese food, not your regular number one Chinese restaurant you see. Don't come here expecting to order orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken. If you're use to things like that, you won't appreciate this place. read more

When I was a student in Boston, I dined here almost every month but never wanted to write a review. Now, coming back for the first time since 2012, I would say the food quality was pretty much the same. The dining room hasn't changed much, and I even saw the same waiters! Food is authentically Cantonese. One of those hole in the wall places that I enjoyed very much; however, this place can be difficult for non-Chinese speakers. read more

Great lunch at Asian Garden, spacious and all the food very tasty! My favorite things (sorry don't know the names so I will describe the plates instead): tea with condensed milk, thin noodles with ham and mini shrimp, flat thicker chewy noodles with meat, Chinese large churros, braised pork and dumplings similar to gyozas. Would love to come back and get these plates. Now I go the chinese descriptions: Hong Kong style milk tea, peking dumplings, chines fried dough fritters, rice noodles Ha moon style, dry fried beef chow foon. read more

I came here because I had a discount through Nift, but I will definitely be coming back! Asian Garden has the best prices I've seen in Boston, but the food doesn't suffer for it. The restaurant was crowded when I arrived, but I was seated right away, the servers were attentive, and my food came quickly. The casual atmosphere allowed for a relaxed dining experience. read more
