the food here was just alright. i didn't put them to my usual chinese food test by ordering chicken and broccoli though so I can only really speak on the soups and apps. my friend and I just wanted a snack so I got the hot and sour soup and dumplings and she got the bobo platter which came with an assortment of fried things: fried crab sticks, fried shrimp, crab rangoons, and chicken. the food was pretty reasonably priced and for all those fried items it was only $16 which was better than buying those all individually. my hot and sour was the best i've had in GR so far but not the best i've ever had which still puts me on the hunt for a hot and sour soup i love in GR. The dumplings were very disappointing because they were just potstickers.... i had those frozen in my freezer that i could have whipped up... i wanted actual dumplings.. so that sucked... also the filling had weird hard chunks. makes me nauseous thinking about it. my friends fried goodies were yummy and it was a lot for only $16. she also enjoyed her egg drop soup. probably would not order again though. read more

I got food delivered from here through door dash and I thought it was pretty good! The turnaround time from when I ordered to received the food was quick and it was still hot when I got it. I got the sesame chicken combo plate which comes with fried rice and an egg roll, an order of shrimp lo-mein, and crab rangoons. The crab Rangoons were classic Chinese take out and they were yummy. I wish they had a little more filling though but overall good. I really enjoyed the sesame chicken. Fried rice was average but the egg roll was delicious! Reminded me of an egg roll from my favorite Chinese take out place in metro Detroit! The lo-mein was just fine. The noodles were a little too soft and chewy for my liking but the flavor was good. Ordered chicken with broccoli. I called and asked if I could get it with a little heat. Picked it up curbside. Staff was friendly. The portions were just the right size. This was the first time ordering here and didn't know what to expect. The flavors were different but very tasty. The added heat to the dish was the frosting on the cake. I ordered grub hub here twice. The first time was really good. But the second tome was definitely not good. The prices are kind of pricey. The crab Rangoon are definitely from a bag and not fresh. The oil was drenched inside of them. The lo mein was pretty decent. I had the trio, which was loaded with shrimp but skimpy on the beef and chicken. The sesame chicken was so dry I could barely eat it. It came with about two pieces of broccolli j's the sauce was very light. Chuy's is just as bad. Great Lakes is one of the only Chinese food places I trust. Will not order from here again. read more

We ordered off of Grubhub and got it delivered all the way to Allendale. The food was on time and still hot. The crab rangoons are on the sweeter side but I think they are the best around here. We ordered the sesame and general tso's chicken. Both were very good and didn't have any gristle on the chicken. I've never been in the restaurant but the 3 or 4 times I've gotten is delivered have been very good. read more

So good! I've had the orange chicken, sesame chicken, and beef lo mein. All were really good. Customer service has been good. This is my new go to Chinese restaurant. Got the sampler platter and it was a huge portion! Haha, we couldn't even eat our entrees we were so stuffed from the appetizer. read more

I've had consistently good food from here. Nothing new and amazing but solid. Only complaint is the almond boneless chicken has about the equivalent of 1 1/2 almonds sprinkled over it but it's full of veggies and I appreciate that. The sauce is good too. read more

I walked up to the door during the lunch hour, and there was a woman standing outside, speaking loudly into a cell phone. She waved me inside and to a booth, while never taking time away from her conversation to greet me. She then waved towards the buffet when I asked if I should help myself. She also didn't stop her conversation for this, nor did she offer me a beverage. I went up to the buffet table, and made a plate, but when I came back to sit down, she was (still without breaking her conversation) waving two OTHER women into the same table. Then she asked me to please move to the back room. I ended up leaving my plate and walking out. I've rarely felt so unwelcome in an establishment. read more

Used to order all the time and the food was excellent. I always ordered the Mongolian beef because the meat tastes like steak. The past 2 times I have ordered it has been terrible! The food is disgustingly mushy and nasty, I barely had any meat in my dish tonight and the meat that was in it was all mushy and gristly. the vegetables were not even crisp, it was like they scraped the bottom of the pot that had been sitting all day. I tried to find a Chinese restaurant that would deliver to Saint Mary's Hospital to show the nurses there how much we appreciate them. I called a number in GR but none would deliver to the Hospital. I remembered the great food at the Asian Garden so called and they more than delivered, they delivered late at night so the night shift could have Hot food. The nurses said it was the best they ever had and I can't thank the staff enough at the Asian Garden restaurant for making this happen for us and the nurses who deserved this great meal. First and last time here, the place was disgustingly dirty inside, we ordered and brought it home, had I seen the restaurant area earlier I would have said forget it, the Mongolian beef was horrible, tasted like salt and the "BEEF" WAS CHEWY, don't really know what is was, the eggroll was cold and disgusting, all vegetable and tasteless. so for me I would never go back there again, no good Chinese places around here read more

To start I ordered a Pepsi and was given diet which is not that big of deal. However the buffet was stocked with food that you can tell was there for a while then me and my wife witnessed the server clean tables scratch his face and nose then proceeded to wrap crab ragoons in the dining area never once did he wash his hands or put on gloves.this is by far the worst Chinese restaurant or restaurant in general that we have gone to and we have been to alot of restaurants. So my recommendation eat some where else and it's a wonder how this place has not been shut down. read more

Ordered food for delivery 2 hours ago, called three times and every time they said they were on the way.

I went in for the lunch buffet. Selection was so-so, small salad bar and hot bar with about a dozen items. Biggest problem was that plates were in the cold section of the buffet, so were freezing cold. The hot food was cold almost as soon as you put it on your plate. I have the one star do to the quality of the food. Seems the food has been sitting. Crab regoons are good but the noodles seemed almost like they weren't cooked fresher. Also had weird smell on top of that so we literally stopped eating the noodles. Food was leaking on top of that out of bag. Delivery showed up late to top everything off. Second time they messed up my order stopped by the second time to see if they could help out the owner tells me they wouldn't make a mistake like that. Ordered 5 lunch specials for my employees only got three of the five stopped back would not help said "would not make a mistake like that " plus the food is subpar at best. We have eaten here a handful of times and I've never had any issues until last night. I was chewing my food and felt what I thought was a bone from the General Tso Chicken I ordered, but when I pulled it out to look at it I realized it was a piece of metal. I called to let them know what happened and the man I spoke to said that yes it has happened before and it's a known problem. He did not seem worried or concerned. He described what the metal looked like and said it's a brush they clean their pans with. It's extremely concerning to me that he seemed relaxed and that it wasn't a big deal. Like previous posters, I'm gonna have to say this place was pretty bad. I've been here a few times now, always for plated meals, not the buffet. The first time, I had orange chicken that tasted...burnt? Like, burnt oil. It was terrible. But my boyfriend liked whatever he got, because he suggested going again a few weeks later. I figured, why not - maybe they just had an off day. This time, I got sweet and sour tofu. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. Honestly, it was that bad. Placed an order for pick up. It was ready on time and was still nice and hot when I got home (5 minutes). It's nice that they have vegetarian options. I ordered Buddha's delight - the vegetables were fresh, not over cooked and had a nice snap. The fact that they deliver is a huge bonus I'll take advantage of in the future.
