Placed the order online and paid. Made the driver over and picked up after work. Everything was ready. Telhey asked my name, reviewed my order, and even gave me a free cookie. I love Chinese food and am always looking for a great house fried rice, crab Rangoon and my favorite wonton soup. I was presently surprised with the flavor of the house fried rice. Definitely something to come back for. The wonton was not amatonorder again. Although it has potential I did not feel it was the broth to vegetable ratio I was looking for and the Crab rangoon was out of this world. Highly recommend. Everything including tip under $40.00. This has become my go-to for Chinese food. I usually order for takeout, and the food is always hot and delicious. Today, I dined in. The lunch specials come with a jumbo sized, delicious egg roll and perfectly crispy cream cheese wonton. The portions are huge for a low price. I paid $45 for two large orders of Shrimp Lomein one large order of Beef Fried Rice and one order of Crab Rangoon just now. The lomein is so dry I have to use two packets of soy sauce for one plate, and I don't usually prefer soy sauce so that says a lot. It's more like ramen noodles with shrimp in it, no joke. The pictures attached don't do it justice. The crab Rangoon had little flavor and honestly, the bottom was very undercooked and doughy. I feel ripped off. The fried rice is good. But the other stuff was borderline gross. I'd prefer mall Chinese food over this place. If you are looking for a good Chinese meal, don't go here. Go to Golden 28 or Far East. Yikes. read more

Did the old owner sell it? The last couple of times I've been there the service and the food have been unremarkable. The nice lady that used to work there would always chat with us, but the current younger lady taking orders doesn't speak very good English, so it can be difficult to ask questions let alone provide a good customer experience. I used to love to go here for sizzling rice soup. but now the presentation is lacking. Part of the appeal of sizzling rice soup is the actual sizzle when they bring the parts out to serve it; this doesn't happen anymore. They bring it already mixed up, so it makes me wonder how they're actually preparing it. If it can't be done, right, it should just be taken off the menu Also, the timing of the meals is not so great, each time I've asked for my soup to be brought out with my husband's meal it wasn't. It was brought out first, and to make it worse I have to question the quality. The shrimp in my soup tasted too shrimpy/fishy and the interior of my eggroll was cold. My husband's eggroll was heated all the way through. I'm not sure what's going on here, but we probably won't come back. read more

This place wasn't really my favorite. I needed to get quick Asian takeout from somewhere near my boyfriend's house on Black Friday right after a day of ridiculous holiday shopping. I was ravenous and not looking to spend a lot. Anyway, upon first glance, this place isn't very appealing, particularly on the inside. A bit dingy, perhaps uncleanly. Dim fluorescent lighting. There was even an area for eating in, and i had imagine who actually would want to sit in this place for any amount of time. Just a headache-inducing environment from the get-go. Luckily my order was up soon after i arrived. Typically, I order whatever tofu and mixed vegetable (with white rice) dish these type of places have since theres usually not a whole log of veg options. This place had a vegetable mei fun option (mixed vegetables with rice vermicelli noodles) and i had them add fried tofu. I also got a can of diet coke (at $2 a pop!). It all came out to be about $14 which was not cheap at all for Chinese takeout. It was a generous amount of food but still, it was not really good or bad tasting. Just bland and greasy. It hit the spot in that moment and i had a lot of leftovers to work on the next day, but overall not the best Chinese takeout I've ever had, and i probably wont be returning any time soon. read more

This is the second time that I've tried GLCR and will sadly be the last. I ordered Kung Pao chicken and my husband got his usual sweet and sour chicken. The first frustrating part was calling in the order - the line said busy for 10 minutes and when I finally got thru, there was a new employee trying to figure out how to ring up the order. When we were told the total, I was surprised at how much it was (just over $29). I figured it was going to be delicious, so it would pay off. Unfortunately, the fried rice we had subbed out with both of our orders didn't have any vegetables in it- just bean sprouts and fried egg. My Kung Pao chicken was a decent size but the sauce had absolutely no flavor; it was more like a bland gravy than anything else. I was hoping to see the traditional red Chiles or something but it was just very different than what I was expecting - I threw most of it out. Small local Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. Seats are in good shape but ceiling fans have not been dusted nor carpet cleaned in years. Appetizing smell as you walk in. They offer a small buffet for lunch average price. Egg drop soup was just chicken broth with corn starch and egg. Egg roll fresh and tasty as was crab cheese, one of each with lunch combo. Then the almond chicken came, 1 full breast w light breading on a bed of lettuce. Unfortunately they have not cleaned the grill where they cook the fried rice so it has a burned metallic taste and smell that ruins the rest of the meal. The bowl of gravy was a fluorescent yellow like they used the egg drop soup with more corn starch and a few shreds of carrot. We went to Great Lakes on Chinese New Year to celebrate (I'm not Chinese). After wishing the hostess / server a happy New Year, we sat and looked at the menu. My daughter and I both ordered dinners from the back of menu. Dinners include soup, egg roll, wonton and the entree'. I had the Kung Pao chicken and my daughter had the Mongolian beef. Both were large and tasty. We both ended up taking leftovers home. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, albeit standard booths and tables. The service was friendly and efficient. We ordered the general Tso chicken with all white meat, the almond boneless chicken and an order of crab ragoons. The portions were all really good for the price. The general Tso chicken was made with good quality meat (or at least it seemed). The sauce was order to be extra spicy but had little or no spice to it.
