We were excited about Asian Grill opening in the West Ashley Circle area because my husband and I love Thai food, pho, and sushi. Unfortunately, Asian Grill just didn't do it for us. We walked in and placed a to-go order (the restaurant is new and doesn't have online ordering, a social media presence, or a website yet). I had the tuk tuk noodles with shrimp, and my husband had a chicken curry dish as well as the beef pho. Although my shrimp noodles were a solid portion for the price, the dish itself was bland. I felt like my husband could make a similar noodle dish at home with more taste. My husband's pho was missing an ingredient. On a positive note, the restaurant has a large plexiglass barrier up at the register to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Masks are also required. Asian Grill's menu is large and offers variety. Since it's close to home, we'll give it another shot and try the hibachi or sushi in hopes of more flavor.

Everyone needs to go here! Each time I've gone their service has been above and beyond. I've loved everything I've gotten here but especially the Pad Thai! It's the best I've had in Charleston.

Meat is old

This review is based on my opinion. I have tried many hibachi grills before. But I am disappointed at this new place. Because I can't believed they served the meat that is old and have a rotten smelled. I ordered ribeye steak but it is not even ribeye steak. I can't even finish the meal and so is my husband. I am a person never waste foods but I can't even finish the food on my second attempts because of the rotten meat is so strong. My husband can't even eat the meal either. Therefore, I don't recommended this place to anyone because it is just simply wrong when any businesses serve meat that is old to anyone. Oh by the way try Seasons of Japan or Kobe Grill if you want true meat and fresh products.

Asian Grill on West Ashley Circle in West Ashley is a great place to go for quality and fresh sushi, hibachi, and much more. I really like the location and everything that they have to offer here that is well prepared and delicious. Good option for takeout when you are in the area.

Such a fun and memorable time as a party of 6 with our grandkiddos at Hachiya Japanese Steakhouse…read moreand Sushi! From soup to salad to the main course--an abundance of delicious food! Decadent chicken teriyaki paired with shrimp, steak, and fresh veggies... absolutely amazing. And of course, the chef had us all laughing--such great entertainment! Yummy 3 flavor sherbet cup dessert. Balloons, chef hats to color, and take home trays for the left overs in a brown bag yore is a start to finish well designed plan that moves tables quickly. Do be prepared for that! Full hearts, full bellies, and sweet family memories made! Always a good time and truly beautiful decor tops the experience off.

Then on to the issues here are the following: The hostess with the most-ess and the failed system of reservations and lack there of, no matter how far out you plan in accordance becomes a major debacle when arriving and leaves a poor taste in your mouth. Not to mention the huge snarky attitudes and negative undertones received from the hostess's staff. Literally, I witnessed the young black female this past Saturday evening, Kamaya, I believe is her name display a fake disposition, associated with a fake smile and then spoke negatively of patrons behind their backs, under her breath. I get it, they can't control diners who linger around after being serve and or can't control or predict, when they decide to leave so others are able to be seated and served in a timely fashion. But, I would suggest, to always remain very transparent and do not force bogus rules of rushing a party to arrive early and then convey a message that states your table will be held for 10 minutes and then released/ cancelled. When a party, such as ourselves, arrive before time and then are told that your party will not be seated until all parties are INSIDE the building, even though they are trying to find a park in this small parking lot. Finally, all parties of your group are present and accounted for, standing in your face still within the time frame mentioned. Then to be told, you now have a few tables ahead of you and the wait is approximately 20 minutes. Really? But in actuality you and your guests now wait 40 to 45 minutes after your scheduled reservation. All the while witnessing them seat random small parties that walk in after your large group with an actual reservation. I know this because I listened as I stood idly by the hostess desk. One or the management of this establishment need to focus on revamping this failed system and have some of your hostess to work on their attitudes. Last I checked, it is patrons such as myself that keeps them employed and your business successful and thriving. Also, a word to all other patrons, if you desire a table greater than a party of 12, prepare to pay a deposit of $10 pp but you still will probably have to wait for your reserved tables. The only thing that made me come back to this place was a special request from my daughter for her birthday and our amazing Chef Marcelino, and Gee, our server was pretty cool as well. Needless to say, with all of the hoops, unnecessary rules and lack of communication, unwarranted attitudes, rehearsed apologies and lack of organizational skills, it will be a while before we return to this establishment, if at all! There are too many restaurants here in the Low Country who strive for professionalism and actually value their patrons without the blatant disrespect from their hostess desk. I would give, 5 stars for Marcelino and Gee but 1 star for the hostess desk! Do better!

Zen Asian Fusion delivered an incredible sushi experience and made my birthday celebration feel…read moregenuinely special. We sat at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend, and from the moment we sat down it was clear we were in good hands. We were surprised right away with a complimentary amuse‑bouche--crab stick rolled with salmon--which was a thoughtful and delicious touch. To start, I ordered the seaweed salad while Justin went with the ginger salad; both were fresh, balanced, and a perfect lead‑in to the sushi. For the main event, I ordered a spicy tuna roll and eel nigiri, and this is where Zen really shined. The spicy tuna roll was exactly what sushi lovers hope for--very light on rice and heavy on fish, something that's surprisingly hard to find around Charleston. The eel nigiri was rich, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Justin ordered several pieces of sashimi and was equally impressed. We asked about albacore tuna (unfortunately unavailable), but were told the salmon was excellent--and moments later, we were unexpectedly served two additional pieces of sushi each. Completely unexpected and incredibly appreciated, especially for a birthday celebration. Between the quality of the fish, attention to detail, and warm hospitality, Zen Asian Fusion absolutely won us over. We've officially found our new sushi spot and can't wait to come back.

You definitely might need to cut it down or maybe half it for a bite but I still loved it. They brought it with a fork and knife, so it's kind of expected. I also ordered the Sambal or yellow curry with chicken. It was pretty good too. It came with a house salad. The dressing on the salad was delicious. The samba curry was really good too. I liked that everything came out hot. I also ordered the SC rainbow. It was good too. I pretty much liked everything I ordered. Id probably order all of those again. Service and ambiance was good. It seemed busier than I expected.

Quickly, "Yaya" (her name on the receipt) our server was quickly there and soon brought menus and the water as our selected beverage. I ordered the steak bowl lunch ($12.50), with the steak chunks on top of fried rice, with the steak cooked at medium rare as I requested, with the bowl also including sliced mushrooms. As an included side, I had the option of either soup or a small salad. I opted for the salad with ginger dressing. The food was very good and was quite filling. There was extra ginger and mayo flavored sauce on the side which increased the flavor of the steak, a delightful, delicious sauce. This is an out of the way place which any Yelper should visit at least once and decide for yourself. When you check in on Yelp at the Bushido Japanese Restaurant there in the shopping center on Magwood Drive, the restaurant on the Yelp app gives you an option of one of two (free) appetizers. I chose the Gyōza ($7.95 if I had to pay instead of them being free) which are Japanese dumplings, seemingly boiled and slightly roasted. As an aside, there appears to be a contest for people who can handle 10 layers of hot sauce from what I can tell. The rules are in a black background poster placed on the window next to the entry door. See my photo, or go look and try the competition!
