We finally tried Tsunami for takeout and were pleasantly surprised, especially by the fact that their buy one, get one sushi specials even apply to delivery orders -- which is pretty fantastic considering how expensive sushi can get these days. I ordered the sweet potato roll and swapped the seaweed for soy paper, which I highly recommend. The roll itself was very delicious, and I added tempura flakes for a little crunch. In hindsight, I probably should have asked for extra eel sauce because the flakes made it a touch drier, but the flavor overall was still really good. My husband ordered the GMC roll, which is a spicy crab roll, and that was also included in the buy one, get one special. He really enjoyed it. He also got his go-to salmon roll and requested brown rice instead, and all of the customization instructions were followed perfectly. We also tried the vegetable potstickers. The other option was beef, which we passed on since those are often made with pork as well. The vegetable version just wasn't really my favorite personally, but that may come down to preference more than preparation. Overall, everything tasted fresh, the order was accurate, and it ended up being a really delicious takeout option. After seeing the menu and specials, I can absolutely understand why this place gets mentioned as one of the top happy hour spots around. Some nights even feature all-you-can-eat sushi specials, which honestly sounds wild for sushi prices these days. First off, I had never reviewed a restaurant, but was so irritated by my experience i felt the need to leave a review. Possibly the worst restaurant experience I have had. The pad thai, if you can even call it that, was disgusting and tasted like burnt cooking oil. Our sushi came out very late, and the chicken thai curry had little chicken and very undercooked and random vegetables, like zucchini?? -- who puts zucchini in thai food... Nothing better than crunchy undercooked zucchini in a cheap bottled thai sauce. Also, this place was lowkey expensive, especially for what we got. read more

We tried this place again after a bad DoorDash experience hoping it was a fluke but unfortunately the quality control issue extends into the sit down service. We started with the shrimp tempura and within a couple of minutes of placing the order they were out with the food and it was still ice cold. We said something to the waitress and she did have another one made that was hotter, but tasted off almost like an old fry oil aftertaste. My wife got the sushi appetizer with 5 nigiri, 4/5 were alright (about the same as grocery store nigiri), the tuna nigiri tasted freezer burnt. The spicy tuna roll was the same. This place has very much gone down hill. The sushi was just okay and there were tiny nats flying around the restaurant. I also asked the one server if he could tell us what the brown blob was next to our spring rolls and he said "I don't know" and walked away nervously laughing. When we got our sushi it was brought out to us by a gentleman that reeked of cigarettes. The efficiency was good and our waitress was really attentive (young woman) and very nice. This restaurant desperately needs a remodel. The decor is outdated, and the menus are sticky. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

John and I play the what do you want to eat for dinner game a lot when we vacation- I jokingly mentioned Japanese Steakhouse and John jumped. The search was on for a place close to our hotel and with good reviews, especially recent reviews and I found Tsunami. I am very happy we dined here. John and I were able to split a steak and shrimp habachi plate and it was so much food! They plated it split for us- something I appreciate when restaurants do. Everything was delicious, the dining room was beautiful too. But our server was the best! Fast, wonderful service. I highly recommend if you are looking for a dinner spot. read more

I usually order the shrimp hibachi lunch special for an easy lunch in the middle of my workday. It's one of the cheapest hibachi lunches around here. It's a decent and affordable lunch option so I don't expect much but what I do appreciate is how the rice tastes like it has been cooked on an open flame. However, the last time I ordered from here, my rice was hard. I called in the restaurant that day and whoever answered said they would make the next hibachi for me for free (she didn't give me anything that would guarantee this, she just said she would remember me). Well it was nearly a week before I ordered there again and when I tried to order, the person that answered said he knew nothing about it so he said he would give me 15% off. It kinda turned me off because he didn't seem interested in trying to confirm it with anyone. I also didn't want to take the risk of having hard rice again so I haven't ordered here since (for some reason my spirit just always tells me it ain't worth it). But barring all of my issues, on the quality of the food alone, I'd still give this restaurant a 2.5 or 3. read more

We were in the mood for sushi so we decided to visit this location as they have a nice menu variety and never a wait to be seated. Everything was great from the rolls to the pad Thai that we ordered! The waitress was friendly, everything came in a timely manner, and overall we were happy. The only complaint I would give is the children's chicken strip meal was one chicken strip cut into several bite size pieces on a big bed of fries. I LOVE sushi and when I say sushi, I mean raw all the way without a bunch of sauce on the rolls. I appreciate tasting the fishes' natural flavor, but not here! I actually gagged on a piece of sashimi salmon. The rice fell apart and the wasabi wasn't good quality. You know what they say when the rice and wasabi is bad at sushi restaurants...stay say! Service was very good and the bar was packed for happy hour so they have great drink specials, I guess. I came here looking for a late night dinner with a sushi craving. Our waitress was very nice and got us to our seat right away. The menu is very detailed and I like that they have pictures for everything. I think sometimes people are hesitant to get certain foods because they don't know what it is, so I like that this place had pictures to show. I got the oyster roll and the Old Bay roll and they were both delicious and well cooked and prepared. They have a beer and wine list and a few cocktails although I didn't order any. The place needs to be updated as far as design and the tables and menus were a little sticky but otherwise the place was clean. I used the bathroom that was also very clean and sanitary. I wish I could give it less than 1 star! We ordered the Tsunami Platter, fried calamari, beef pot stickers, and shrimp pot stickers. The calamari looked like frozen onion rings and were tougher than rubber bands. The pot stickers were tough and tasted as if they came from a pre-prepared freezer bag like the calamari. The sushi was inedible as well. The rice was falling apart and had ZERO seasoning in it. The fish was literally 1/2" thick which is way too thick for sushi. Instead of the umami flavor and texture of melting in your mouth, it was chewy with the only flavor anything on the platter had was due to the soy sauce and wasabi. Even the soy sauce was inedible, it tasted as if it were infused with the ginger on the platter that hardly anyone eats anyway because it tastes like soap. Be warned, the food looks NOTHING like the photos!! And I promise you, it's all downhill from there!! When you spend over $120 on a meal for 2 people, it should at the VERY least be edible!! read more

We did enjoy the beef potstickers, the chicken fried rice and my friend truly enjoyed the General t-So chicken. I usually only like brown fried rice( that is rice that is turned brown by soy sauce, however this yellow rice was tasty. They had a nice drink menu too! Cute little take out dishes too. We came in as a party of 5 on a Sunday at 6pm. The staff was polite but under staffed in the front of house. As soon as I walked in I couldn't help but notice there was a strange sticky, yet slimy film on the floor that seemed to cover all the floor. The service could have been better. From the first entree being served to our party, to the last member getting what they ordered was about 20 minutes. It left plenty of time for awkward remarks from the last person who got their food to insist for everyone else to please start eating before their food came out and to comment on the many empty cups of water neatly placed by each party member. As I walked from our table to the restroom, with every step, I could feel the slick and sticky film on the floor getting thicker. The men's bathroom is reminiscent of a hole in the wall dive bar in Asheville, NC with holes in the tile wall just to drive the point home. As I stand above the commode, feet no more than shoulder width apart, I could feel my feet sliding apart from the slick film that coats the floor of the establishment. I remember Tsunami being a little more professional a few years back. Between the slot machines placed right by the front door, the slime on the floor, and the subpar service I don't think I will be returning for another few years. read more

This is a great happy hour place. You can't beat the drink prices. Apps are good but I do wish there were a few more options that were fish or seafood for happy hour cost but my friends all rave about the sushi. It's a little dark inside but the staff is super friendly and attentive. You really can't beat the beer happy hour prices. Oh and you can sit outside in nice weather! read more

Tsunami is great! We stopped in for a late lunch. The place was pretty empty. My mom ordered the house soup and the shrimp and steak hibachi and I ordered a poke bowl and a philly roll. I was a little skeptical of the poke but I thought I would give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The ingredients were fresh. My mom enjoyed her hibachi as well. Our waiter was nice and attentive. The prices are reasonable. They offer happy hour 7 days a week and the specials seemed pretty good. I wouldn't mind coming back to check those out. read more

There are two bar options , the sushi bar and the bar area . The bar area has several raised tables with plenty of seats at there fully stocked bar. Strongly suggest coming during happy hour , the sushi is also a great option , ample seating and several chiefs preparing fresh sushi before your eyes. Great customer service , very friendly staff , and never a shortage of waiters on staff. The vegetable hibachi was so coated in sauce that it was not quite enjoyable. The sushi was not good. The fish cuts were messy and for $8-$16 per roll it was not worth it... it was worse than grocery store sushi. After each course they didn't clear the plates off the table so by the end there was a clutter of plates all over. We sat outside with our dog. They had the door to the kitchen open and inside you could see fly traps hung all over the ceiling with dead flies on them. Not very nice to look at but I'm sure there are grosser things. The overall ambiance somehow felt like a dive bar that smelled like a sushi restaurant. So do what you will with that. I would not recommend going here. The only reason I give it 2 stars instead of one is because one is reserved for the worst of the worst and this wasn't that I don't think. read more

I believe every restaurant deserves 2-3 chances, 3 only if it came recommended by someone with whose palate I trust. A chef can have an off night, same with servers and bartenders, so with that said, I have eaten at Tsnaumi's locations 30 times perhaps. Every time, I left very satisfied from beginning to end. I am partial too the Mt. P location, as the bartenders there are great, they literally work any downtown club (and do) with ease, high volume is of no issue here.
