I wanted to love this place. I really did. They started out really strong one day when I ordered their Chicken Pad Thai for takeout. Came back to my hotel and it was still warm. Portion size was fine and tasted delicious. Then one day, I decided to come in for their Orange Chicken Bento Box Lunch deal. Eggroll and California rolls were both fine. I'm not a fan of the crab rangoon, so I gave that a pass. Then I finally tried the Orange Chicken. Had the same texture and flavor as a rubber chew toy. Very nice little place... once you make it past the entry door that is. I swear it takes two to open that door. Hope they fix it soon. Anyways, nice interior, friendly service, occasionally a bit hard to understand, but in the end we all managed to get along and get the foods we wanted. I am particularly into these Bento box combos. A lot of bang for your buck. And a great deal for me since I can never make up my mind as to what I would like to eat. It comes with soup, salad, roll, rangoon, fried rice, California roll and whatever entree you pick. So you really can't go wrong with this. I ordered the Terriyaki shrimp. It was truly delicious, as were all the other things that came with my Bento. Some of my friends had sushi and the presentation alone was awesome. From what my guest said it was also pretty tasty. This place can be okay however they put very little effort in their food and typically has no taste and kind of sucks. There are a few items on their menu that are semi good - general tsos, house mei fun, dumplings, wontons, and sushi is okay. Anything else you get is normally terrible haha I just ordered lo mein and it has zero flavor it tastes like water and oil. I put 7 packets of soy sauce over it and it still is over powered by the water and oil. I really wish this place was better because the people are nice but they just make crappy food and don't care. I continue to order here because its really the only Chinese place downtown indy. I have decided that the only thing I like from this place is the sesame chicken with vegetable fried rice (add egg). They do a really good job with this dish. I am not a fan of their mangolian beef, orange chicken, or chicken yaki udon. They have too many options on their menu, which makes it harder for them to perfect every dish. They're under new management now, and it shows. This place is always packed when we come! They offer excellent lunch specials - for both those who do and do not like sushi. Lunch special prices - 2 rolls for $8.50, 3 for $11.50 (both with soup.) Noodle or stir fry options with soup or salad $6.99. Everything I've tried has been fresh and tasty. I tend to order the 3 roll lunch special. I might try a lunch bento box next time! The service can be a little slow as they get a huge lunch rush - they might benefit from having one more person working the cash register. The filling was light, and you could see the pieces of crab and scallion which most places you don't, the shell nice and crispy! Overall I would order again, just not the sesame chicken, the value for the bento is the best $16! We also got sweet and sour chicken which was normal! The packaging was very well done! I didn't eat the two sushi rolls until the next day (both were cooked, shrimp tempura and spicy crab). They were only half the size of a regular roll, both were dry, and something messed up my stomach so I question how fresh it was when it was first ordered/delivered. It was pretty good, and some of the better General Tsos I have had downtown. This past time I went, I discovered that they had a bento box meal! This is likely the best deal on the menu in my opinion. It came with an entree, salad, soup, crab rangoon, spring roll, California roll, and rice. It was no more than $15 for all of that! I got mine with chicken curry, and it was decent curry, not a ton of flavor but still good. I would probably get a traditional dish like beef and broccoli next time. They had a very safe setup for Covid where they sanitize everything, wear masks and have your food ready on a table in the doorway. We were met with incredible customer service from the hostess and were seated immediately. After we sat down, it took a bit for the waitress to come and talk to us. I believe this was because she may have been the only one bussing and serving tables. However, when she greeted us she explained the enormous menu in full and told us what would be the best deals for what we wanted. She clarified the combination of egg rolls and crab Rangoon and also asked me if the miso soup was okay to start with. My meal came out in a timely manner and it was hot and delicious. The only thing I didn't love was the crab rangoons, as I tend to gravitate towards more of cream cheese taste. But I could see someone else enjoying them. I'm not the biggest fan of sushi, but even I enjoyed the sushi they provided. When it came time to leave, the waitress boxed up our meal for us to make sure the food lasted as long as possible. The meal itself was extremely cheap for the quality and quantity of the food. The ambiance there was a little disrupted by the stockroom that was overflowing onto the ground, but it was not in the way of any customers. The first couple of times I placed an order for myself and fellow co-workers everything was great. Just ordered again today, delivery was 1.5 hours late. when it finally arrived "COLD" some co-workers order was missing. Before It arrived a made a call to the restaurant and was told online orders are handled by the manager they would have him call me back. That never happened, when I called back after 15 min. there was no answer and the called timed out (can not complete your call at this time) I called a second time still the same thing. Called from my cell phone they answered right away, I told them my complaint about my order not arriving at all and they said they would call the driver and call me back, that never happened. I called again from my cell and again call timed out with no answer, I called as unknown and the answered right away, said they couldn't help me since the caller id came up unknown. I called back showing my caller id and again no answer, called back unknown and they picked up right away. I'm calling my card and disputing this charge and I will never order from this place again. This quickly became our favorite sushi place in Indy. There is never a wait and the food always comes out amazing. My favorite sushi rolls there are the Fujiyama and Dragon. The vegetable Udon and Bourbon Chicken are my favorite entrees. I also like that the egg rolls come per item here. I would sometimes like one but the other people in my group didn't so it was perfect. Their Miso and Wonton soups are also great starts to your meal. Edamame might've been the only thing I wasn't overly impressed with, but there are so many other options so I wouldn't let it hold you back! read more

First time ordering from them - the garlic shrimp and boiled spicy fish (very traditional Chinese dish) were delicious but what REALLY surprised me was the quality of the rice. This is some of the best rice I've ever had in a Chinese restaurant - super high quality medium grain / short grain rice. I'll definitely be trying some of their other dishes in the future. I recommend getting the plain rice instead of the fried rice. Nothing against the fried version but you really taste the quality when it's just fresh steamed rice (FYI - you need to use day old rice to make fried rice or else it all sticks together and doesn't really fry) For what it's worth I got a mailer that said under new management. No idea what these guys were like before but this should be much better than a 3.5 star restaurant read more

We ordered carry out on on a Thursday around 8pm. It took 15 minutes to prepare and we went immediately home to eat it (5 minutes away). Our ordered consisted of generals chicken, hot and sour soup, miso soup, egg rolls and crab rangoon. The crab Rangoon was hot and seemed fresh. This is the only thing in the order that we actually ate. The hot and sour soup was incredibly disappointing as it had very little flavor and was neither hot nor sour. The crispy wontons served with soup were soft and stale- yuck! The entire thing went into the trash. The miso soup was underwhelming and we just had a bite or two. The egg rolls were greasy and full of cabbage. We did not detect any other ingredients. They tasted like dirty dishwater. Into the trash! The generals chicken was mushy and lacked flavor. The fried rice service alongside was boring. The order was about $27. We are about $5 worth of that. We will not go back. read more

This was a place I pass by on the way to work and decided to come here with a group to check this place out. Parking was largely on the street but I managed to park at the marsh next door. I enjoyed the decor of this place. The design is largely Japanese on the inside. I had ordered their shirashi dish which consisted of sushi rice covered in various cuts of sashimi. The fish was delirious and they used some kind of sesame flavoring for the rice. I ordered the pan fried dumplings as an appetizer and it was disappointing. It was soggy but the filling was okay. The miso soup was fairly typical but still good. Because we came in a large group they gave us free desserts which consisted of mochi ice cream. It was delicious. They had a mix of chocolate and green tea variants. I was very impressed by this place and would definitely recommend anyone to try it out. They also had a menu with Chinese dishes as well. I went back here a few days later with another group. I stuck with the Japanese dishes but they have an authentic Chinese menu that was well liked by my friends. read more

I actually love this place because it's solid food and Indy has so few places downtown that are affordable and not chain restaurants. It's near work, so it's good for a quick lunch, and they're on Grubhub so I've had their food delivered for dinner as well. I always get the sushi, so that's what I'm reviewing. Their peanut avocado rolls are fantastic! For $6 apiece you can't beat the price. It's always fresh and well-made. When I've ordered delivery, it always arrives before the scheduled time. The staff are all super nice and the food is good. I hope Asian Harbor sticks around because they're one of my go-to places in Indy! read more

I went with a large group and the staff heard us sing 'Happy Birthday' to one in our company. They surprised us all and comped her meal, gave her ice cream, and brightened everyone's day. Asian Harbor is a wonderful lunch destination - even if you don't like sushi and it doesn't happen to be your birthday.
