My parents and I ordered from here this evening. I'd seen the ads on Facebook several times and thought it would be a great time to try a new spot. I ordered the Pad See Ew with tofu, as I use it as a barometer for anywhere that offers Thai food. The dish was okay. The tofu was steamed, which - under other circumstances can be fine. But in a dish like this, it's usually better for something so soft to be lightly fried as it makes it hold together a little better. There was also too much onion and bean sprouts. Both ingredients are necessary for the dish to have the right taste and textures. But the amounts of both in this one were a little too high. Overall, the dish was fine. Despite my experience with my one, I do plan to come back and try other options off the menu, as I saw numerous items that caught my attention. Ordered here during covid craziness and was not impressed. However, last night we decided to give them another try for takeout. The sushi was very good and tasty. 6 rolls, $42. I've ordered from Asian Kawa a few times. It's a bit expensive for what you get, sushi wise, but the quality has been fine. The reason I'm giving it a 2/5 rating, however, is I found a staple in the kani of my golden salmon appetizer last week. Even the most delicious sushi doesn't overcome a staple in your food. Oh well! A most disappointing experience with Asian Kawa in Towaco, NJ. Ordered food at 6:00 pm with the delivery noted at 7:03 pm as per the restaurant. As of 7:20 still no food and when I called the place they told me that the food was ready and they were awaiting the delivery driver? I guess that means the food will be cold by the time it arrives as it is now 7:25 and still nothing......this restaurant does not have their systems together and you, the customer will suffer. My husband and I were in the area and looking for a new sushi spot, when we stumbled upon Asian Kawa! It was a Friday night, we walked in around 7 and there was not a seat open!! The hostess asked if we were ok with a seat at the sushi bar, or we could wait for a table, we opted for the bar! Our waitress took our drink order right away and gave us a minute to look over the menu! For apps we ordered the tuna dumplings and the pork gyoza. The tuna dumplings are a must, if you like tuna, you will love these! The pack some heat, and just the right amount of crunch! Pork Gyoza, also tasty, not to greasy, which is always a concern! We also ordered three rolls and two hand rolls. The hand rolls were jam packed with tuna! They definitely don't skimp on the amount of tuna they give you. We got the rainbow roll, spring time roll and the crazy Friday roll. The peppered tuna on the Crazy Friday Roll was delicious. They make a few rolls with that, I would totally recommend it! All the rolls were fresh, clearly made with love (literally we sat there and watch the chef take his time with each roll that he put out), and super tasty. If you're in the area and looking for some delicious sushi, stop in and check them out! They are a BYO so don't forget a nice bottle of wine, or some Sake to go along with your sushi! Wow, best spicy tuna roll in the area! So good! I just ordered some basic rolls and edamame but I was happy for the most part, however, the sweet potato tempura roll was huge, and the end pieces were very difficult to eat because the strips of potato were so large. Was told to hold. Kept on hold for 7 minutes. She came back and said hold two more minutes. Three later, she came back. I complained and she said she's with another order. You don't just leave someone on hold that long and then longer after that. Not even an apology. I asked to speak with the manager. Hold for two minutes then she hung up. We come here at least once a month & tonight I ordered the Coconut chicken & when I got home it was wrong so when I called I read them on the menu & they checked & said ok we can remake or give you a credit. So I asked for a new one. My boyfriend picked it up and when he got home it was all the same shit in it and he said they said they changed the menu so they just added pineapple to it & nothing else listed. This is the ULTIMATE sushi destination! The food is authentic and beyond your "typical" rolls, their specials are outstanding! Talk to the super friendly staff and ask for recommendations if you're feeling adventurous. I recommended ALL of their rolls and also their oyster shots. BYOB but they also offer a fine Sake selection. Call in advance if you're a party larger than 5, especially weekends. Cannot recommend this place enough. Great food. Great service.
