This place had a lot of hype when it opened in 2025. I have always wanted to try but it was very difficult to get in on a weekend (I think it still is). I have finally gotten to try it with friends on a weekday. Their dim sum is $5.50 for small, medium and large. Even on a weekday, they have a steady amount of clients. Ambiance - 4/5: it is a small place and the seats are very tight together. The perimeter seats can really only accomodate 2 people, despite round tables with 4 chairs. We were a group of 4 and they asked us to sit in the middle tables (which was still tight. They explained that those round tables were even smaller. Service - 4/5: they brought the initial tea/water to us. Subsequently, you have to refill it yourself at the self-serve station up at the front. You can also get sauces there too. They were really pushing us for their bbq menu items that day because it was freshlg made. We just weren't feeling for it that day. Food - 4/5: we over ordered and had enough food for take out. You can order via the QR code or mark on their menu. We ordered: - egg tarts: flaky pastry, sweet inside, typical egg tart but still good - siu mai - classic, juicy - chicken siu mai (new item menu, comes with 5 but smaller in size) - much more succulent in my opinion - steamed chicken feet - standard, a little spicy for me - sticky rice with chicken in lotus leaf - not great rewarmed - vegetarian bean curd sheet - not what I was expecting but still decent. Lots of vegetables wrapped within the sheets - chinese style pork sauage turnip cake - not bad, standard - deep fried glutinous chicken dumplings - interesting, usually with pork at other restaurants. Does not impact the taste. Crispy exterior, gooey interior before getting to the savoury center - steamed rice roll with deep fried fish - it is actually pretty good. The fish was very crunchy. We don't come here often maybe 1-2 every year so it has been some time since we last visit. As of Jul 2026 they still have daily special, small, medium, large dimsum $5.8 each Monday through Friday. Seems like they update their menu every year or two or maybe more often because every time I come here there are a few new options. I'd say taste is ok, maybe a bit worse from when I first came here few years ago. The ingredients seem not the best. We ordered 6 domains for 2 adults and 1 kid usually we would be so full with 6 dimsums but not anymore. Either we have bigger appetite or their portions are smaller. But the table next to us, two elderly they ordered 10 dimsums, maybe they want leftover to take home. Their staff and service is ok, still friendly and polite. Some tables, like ours, can be under very strong AC. Good in the summer time but then dim sum also get cold very quickly. For instance the ha gau skin gets cold quickly and hardens. 10% Tips, before tax, already included in the bill and they point it out so appreciate their transparency. I heard that the 10% off card can't be combined with the weekday SML special so maybe can only used on weekends regular price. It is a dim sum place that is owned by the restaurant Starchiva, so the quality of the food is guaranteed. Three of us ordered 6 dishes, they all turned out to be delicious and innovative. We especially loved Steamed Matcha Crispy Shrimp Rice Roll, it is soft outside and crispy inside with yummy shrimp. One particular good thing about this place is that self-serve drinks and condiment, they even have free hot soy milk on the counter, what a bonus. The place is not big, but well decorated and looks elegant from inside. The service is definitely something can be improved. There is a particular waitress always look angry and blunt. Been curious about this place for a while and after getting a fairly positive review from friends we decided to give it a try. Located in a strip mall at Bayview and Hwy 7 the menu is all dim sum in a more casual environment. You are pointed to a table and tea is brought to you with a paper menu and pencil where you mark off your choices. From here is where there are differences from a more traditional dim sum business. Tea and water refills and condiments are self serve at the counter and there is a good selection. Extra cups are available so in addition to the tea you can also refill on hot water, cold water and hot soya milk which was clearly a popular item. It's served in a thermos jug and 2 were put out and within 15 minutes, 1 was emptied out. Quality of dim sum is just okay, as is the flavour. They have clay pot rice and the portion is on the small side but some good options. In addition to dim sum there is also a small selection of fried noodle Prices and service are decent. Most dim sum are $5.50 each. A 10% tip is automatically added to the bill. They close at 4 during the week so this really is just a lunch/dim sum place. I decided to try a new Dim Sum spot and choose this place. They have all day Dim Sum from 9am to 9pm. The ambiance is unlike your typical Dim Sum restaurant. It was very casual and they do not charge a tea fee that other dim sum restaurants likely charges. However, the service is mostly self service. They have a self service area with sauces, tea and hot soy milk. Yes that is correct the soy milk was complimentary as well! And it was very good with just the right amount of sweetness. I ordered 6 different dim sums and most of them came out piping hot and fresh. The stand outs for me was definitely the Har Gow and Pineapple bun. The Har Gow was big, plump and juicy. They did not skimp out on the shrimp. The Pineapple bun was also quite big and crispy on the outside. I also tried their signature matcha crispy shrimp rice roll and thought it was mediocre. It did not have much matcha flavor and the shrimp was much smaller compared to the ones in the Har Gow. The Siu Mai was the only one I didn't really like. They were small and not bouncy/springy. Overall, this is a pretty good dim sum restaurant when you want dim sum outside of traditional hours. It's also important to note they charge a mandatory 10% tip. Very nice experience here for dine in. I've been here b4 for takeout and I decided to come for dine-in on this occasion. At first, I didn't expect much and it was not on my list of go-to dim sum places. But I thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and overall cleanliness of this establishment. I will definitely be back for more. The restaurant was very clean ( look at the place setting ). The food was very tasty. I ordered the sui mai and spinach shrimp dumpling. Both were great The price is very very reasonable as all items were $5.50 s,m,l. And there were many options at that price not like other restaurants that make usual items XL so it is not the special price. Service was amazing. I was seated promptly, given tea right away (even though refill is self serve) , and told the menu is in the QR code on the table. It was pretty busy for 10:00 am so you see they are doing something right. It was definitely right in my book. Kept seeing this place when I went to Loblaws so decided to give it a try. We went during the week just after lunch and it was still a bit busy. We were able to get the last table. Tables did free up more as the time went on. Not a huge place. All the S, M, and L dishes are $5.50 all day which is unusual these days. The serving portions were good. The dishes were hot when they came to the table. The quality was OK - nothing exceptional, but good enough. Some could use a bit more flavour like the tripe and har gow. The shrimp roll was a bit on the thicker side. If want a dim sum and don't want to pay through your teeth, then this place is just fine. Service was fine also. read more

First time to try a very very fresh prepared and cook dim sum. Everything taste fresh and one of a kind. Although it looks like same same sum as other restaurants, the way it made like Siu Mai is small chopped pork instead of minced. It is casual environment. Free Tea is self service. It also has free sweet soy bean milk provided. If you want better tea, you need to order and pay a pot for $6. Lots of comment about the service is not that great, I admit the servers are not very polite. Hence I only put 4 stars. The bill included 10% service charge. Actually the servers do not get all 10%. Two out of our party of six arrived first just before 11 am and there so happened to be a table, fitting for six, by the door that just cleared up when they walked in without anyone else in front. The staff didn't want to give us the table because they said our whole party wasn't present. After some back and forth, and the promise to order dim sum ASAP (since it takes time to prepare anyways and the other four members were just 5 minutes away), they finally agreed to seat us. This started off our experience poorly as it wasn't like there was another party of six present to be seated, etc. From Monday to Friday, all day (9 am to 9 pm), this joint offers their S/M/L items for $5.25. They also don't charge for tea due to the self-serve set up they have, whereby they serve you your first cup but refills require you to go to their station, which also has cold water and condiments such as hot sauces. Overall, the food was good but some dishes were a little overcooked/over-steamed making them a little softer than usual. My grandparents who have been here before said this is not usually the case so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but either way, it wasn't bad by any means. The siu mai, har gow, and other dumplings had a good chew to them with a good amount of filling. The curry cuttlefish was again, softer, but had good flavor. The congee was a good consistency and flavorful without being too salty and didn't leave you thirsty. I personally really liked the mango mochi which was soft and chewy, with a filling of real fruit and cream. The "most disappointing" was the BBQ pork rice only because there was a lot of rice compared to toppings of pork and choy. However, the leanness of the BBQ pork was perfect without being dry. The shrimp rice rolls were also a little underwhelming. Again, service is minimal due to the nature of their setup. But the servers do bring the food and clear empty baskets and plates. They were very fast when it came to clearing tables but I felt it was because they're so busy that they want to turnover tables as soon as possible. During our stay, I would say 11:30 am was when they had the biggest rush and wait for tables. Even though our family said many thank yous, the employees weren't very responsive. The place is new so it is quite clean and the decor looks nice. Seating was actually quite comfortable because of the chairs, but I find long rectangular tables are difficult when it comes to dim sum since it is hard to puzzle out the dishes due to space and makes it harder for sharing as one end of the table can never reach the items on the other end. They don't really have many circle tables, minus a few small ones for 2-3 people. Overall, you can see there's lots of pros and cons but their affordability, decent food, and cleanliness makes this spot one to put on the "frequent list". For a new restaurant, the flavors and freshness of their dimsum was unexpected. I learned about this new restaurant from a Facebook food group. So decided to check it out today. I was a table for one, the staff told me the wait time will be half an hour so I went out to take a photo and came back. It was a little crowded and stuffy inside. My number is 50, I've noticed they were calling 52 so I inquired. Their response was like oh you missed it. In my mind, I am thinking will I get the next table? It almost felt like once they skipped my number that's it.. the number they started calling just got higher and higher, so I had to ask again, it's a little frustrating, anyways a little chaotic during their soft opening. I find when customer ask about delays of the dim sum item or how my number is skipped, the manager doesn't really admit it and end up blaming the customer. I think it's very busy because of the $5.25 small, medium large dim sum soft opening special. I've noticed the couple next to me were asking why one of the items took so long. The tea you will get a cup of tea, if you are ok with the tea you can go up to the station and refill by yourself. Similar to the noodle spots. if not you can order your own type of tea with a teapot for additional cost, different tea leaves you can choose from at the back of the menu. The station have different sauces such as chili oil, vinegar, chili sauce and you can just help yourself. Onto the food, the har gwa, one of the four had a hole in it, a little moist. The steamed chives and shrimp dumpling again one of the four had a hole in it. The vegetarian bean curd roll was tasty. The deep fried chives shrimp cake was just like a shrimp spring roll, usually they are round like a shrimp Patty. The deep fried fish ball with clam sauce, it's on the smaller side and I find it not dense and hard enough. It was not bad but nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the steamed matcha rice roll with crispy shrimp and squid. Nicely presented. I thought it was unique and a good texture. Overall, they did have a few unique dim sum items. It's good that they serve all day dim sum but the rice rolls are not served after 3:30pm and no congee after 3:30pm as well. I feel like if the ambiance is as comfortable as the Starchiva Cuisine will be better, now it feels like a Scabrough noodle spot or China town, not comfortable seating wise and defeats the purpose of yum cha. Flavour wise some items were unique so they have potentials. I think they are not quite ready yet in terms of handling this volume of customer during the soft opening stage. Asian Queen just opened this weekend and is serving up some classic and interesting dim sum dishes. They are opened by Starchiva, which is a few doors down. I would be patient since it's their opening this week so you can tell that they are trying to work out any issues. At this time, SML are all one price at $5.25. The portion sizes compared to other dim sum places but for $5.25 you really cannot complain. I have to say that their chiu chow fun gor is one of the better ones that I've had in awhile. I'm not sure if they make the dumpling skin in house but it certainly tasted that way. Also, the brown sugar honey cake was great too! Good texture and not soggy or overly dry. Came here for dinner as parents wanted it. We saw on the door that this month of July all bbq items are 20% off so we decided to try it as we saw our neighbours table dish looking good. We also ordered a few dim sum dishes and it's a self serve tea place unless you want to order a pot. The bbq itself I found too greasy and fatty for my liking. The bbq pork had so much fat in it and I prefer a leaner cut. The duck look skin crispy but it was not. They have some cool dim sum options and it's not to overpriced. If you want dim sum for dinner you can try this place out. The lighting was good and the decor is full of wooden panels. It's more of a self serve drink and condiments bar place so don't expect too much service. When I went around 6:30 there were 2 waiters and the cashier and who ever works in the kitchen. read more

Disclaimer... We tried going to another dim sum spot but it was rammed so we didn't bother waiting. My parents recommended this spot since they'd been before and were quite pleased. As others have noted, much of this is self-serve, bar ordering (on paper) your dishes. I'll be honest, I liked it. Some frustrations with DS is often being at the mercy of the waiters; so being able to go get your own sauces, tea, hot/cold water was pretty awesome. I'm always less than pleased about paying a "tea fee" so this immediate savings was a great start! We only ordered 8 items and all were good. I especially loved the pineapple bbq pork bun. It was perfectly crispy and great flavour on the inside. The food came out in good time and the service was pleasant. I can see it being problematic bringing a large group. They don't take reservations but the waitress mentioned their sister restaurant (two doors down), does the more "regular dim sum" for larger groups and they take resos.
