Nice little sandwich shop a short ways away from the college. Parking is across the street, as spots in front are reserved for the theater. Got the hot Reuben sandwich. Glad I split it with my wife. The meat portion was extremely generous. The sandwich comes with a side and we got the red potato salad. First off, the sandwich was a perfect mix of meat, sauce, and sauerkraut. Had an order placed at 1pm came a little earlier at 12:30pm and instead of nicely telling me to come back a few minutes later. They were not on their game today and I left a very disappointed first time patron. We walked in, 4 of us 2 adults and 2 older kids, looking to get a quick bite. Place was clean. We initially asked for the bathroom to wash hands and they seemed annoyed to give us the key, while explaining how the bathroom worked. (It's outside the restaurant). We ordered and the food was reasonably priced, portions were adequate and the house made chips were the star of the show. We had an issue with the sandwich I ordered. It was the Babbitt or something like that, Italian meats sandwich with Italian dressing. Sandwich came out but there was very little dressing on it, very little. I kindly alerted the cashier and informed her there was little to none and I would like some additional. She told me any extra would have to be paid for, I said again there was basically nothing on the sandwich just needed more. She again said I would be charged for any additional. Ok, I said fine, then she charged me $1 plus tax that came to $1.11. No big deal. She then came out with a 1 oz cup for a side and it was only filled less than a quarter of the way. She apologized and said they ran out and that's all they had. I said this really just cost me $1.11? She said yes and again I'm sorry but that's it. I was very annoyed and said ok sat down and ate my sandwich. Another lady came in while I'm eating my sandwich and ordered the same thing. I didn't hear the cashier tell her they were out of dressing and of course didn't ask the lady if hers had any on it... One of two things happened... They lied to me or two, they served a sandwich not as advertised. Which is a big cause for concern for anyone eating there... Very disappointed to have spent $60 and to be treated in such a manner. Hidden gem! We stopped here for a lunch during our road trip. It is very small on the inside, but don't let that stand in your way because the taste was mighty. The staff was friendly and helpful. Escaped the sweltering October heat (still!) in metro Phoenix and travelled to the northern pines in Flag. After wandering aimlessly around the Arboretum, we needed some sustenance. And, Alpine Deli fit the bill. Great and personable service. Delicious sandwiches (I mean REALLY GOOD) Homemade chips. And, each sammie came wrapped with it's own positive affirmation. Felt so lucky to stumble upon this place while walking around old town Flagstaff. The staff was so nice. I ordered an Aspen sandwich with pesto pasta salad. It was absolutely huge and enough to share with somebody else. They have homemade lemonade which is excellent. Not too sweet - and just right. I mixed it with black tea and it was awesome. The staff was so friendly they even gave me one to go on the house. This place is definitely a keeper. And the sandwich was absolutely delicious. Not a place I frequent regularly but I went to pick up an order for my office and I was very pleased with the quality. It is a tiny place so you won't be able to bring in a big group but I highly recommend this place for a couple of hikers/backpackers going to or come from the Canyon. Food for the body and soul.
