My car had died on me more than an hour from home and left me in a pinch. I could have it towed back home to a mechanic I trusted and then pick up my wife's car but that was easily a 3 hour process during a period were I had no time to waste. So I prayed that the mechanic that I had just been referred to was competent and honorable, dropped the car off with him, rented a car and agreed that I'd swing by in a couple days to pick my car up. Just before I left I used their restroom and discovered .....most of one wall was covered with porn. So much for being honorable. Now I just hoped he was competent. Two days later at about midnight I'm back in Redlands. I drop off the rental, walk from the rental agency to Pit Stop. My car is waiting just like it's supposed to be but I don't have to drive it for more than a block to know that something's wrong. The acceleration is jittery and the car wants to lunge forward when it's stopped. Another $100 spent at my mechanic confirms that the timing was off when Pit Stop said the car was perfect. Pit Stop managed not to burn my car or drop it off a lift but they behaved disreputably both on a professional and a personal level. They won't have any more of my business. read more

We drove cross country from NJ to CA, and it was time to get the oil changed. After using the Chevy dealer back home, we were afraid to go to another dealer for service, so my sister recommended Pit Stop based on their honesty and loyalty to their customers. I'm so glad we chose to stop here because not only did they change our oil, they were happy to check on a supposed leak we had that the dealer keeps contacting us to come and have fixed for another $500. Our car has never had any signs of leaks, so this left us suspicious. The guys at Pit Stop put my anxiety to rest by assuring us that everything is dry, and there are no leaks. I have been taking my Lexus to Pitstop a few times now for regular maintenance. Today, I took it in for a standard oil change and they charged me double the amount! When I asked why the price went up so much they informed me the cost of synthetic was raised, DOUBLE the price? They also told me they had to use 2 extra quarts of oil. This sounded extremely suspicious to me so when I asked why I wasn't asked to authorize the cost prior to completing the work they just looked at me and shrugged their shoulders. Sorry but this is extremely poor customer service and I can't but help to think because I was a women they were trying to take advantage of me. I went here about a year ago for a tune up. I have been back twice since then for oil changes and other servies. Each time, I have been more than impressed. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name at the front desk, but he has been there each time. He is honest, down to earth, kind and funny. Keeps me feeling good about coming back. Prices are very fair. They stick to their guns about giving you fast service, also. The best part is, it's not fast and crappy service. They do great work! The second time I went, they actually SAVED me money over $100 by saying I did not need a service that I was told I needed by another shop. Today was the 2nd time I've come to Pit Stop in Redlands, and both times have been very positive. As an owner of a Toyota RAV4, this place gives the best deals on this particular type of tire. Our mechanic (we think his name is Pete? He has a ponytail), was nothing short than awesome. Any other mechanic who doesn't give a rat's ass about the customer would have continued with the job and replaced the tire with the bent rim, however he didnt go through with it before advising us and took the time to explain our best course of action - clearly in our better interest. Although he can seemingly be intimidating at first, within seconds, we were able to see that he is conscientious and efficient-minded. He consulted with us not once, but twice, and was able to advise us of the best use of our new tire. Great knowing there are still honest and hard-working people out there. I went here to get an oil change and after my oil change I had an item missing from my car. I asked one of the workers about where is my possession and he said "my employees don't steal". I searched the rest of my car and nothing else was missing but one possession. I would not recommend this place to anyone because they will your items out of your car and then deny it towards you. My friend went back later and eventually got my stolen item back. Do not go to this place they steal. read more

PIT Stop is the worst place for your car. They not only ripped and burnt me, the work they supposedly did was mediocre at best. Thy did the work without my approval then went way above my cash limit. I had to have my car towed out of there, then had to go back to look for my license plates and personal items because they left my car unlocked on their premise and some hoodlums broken to my car and went thru my things. Pit Stop didn't even bother to replace or comoenzate me for the stolen items...I didn't want to bother with it because I was so out of there, wanted to get myself out of that place....good luck to you and your car!! read more

I purchased this groupon in February. I thought they did a great job. My car is only a year old and before going here the only place I took my car to get oil changes was the dealer ship I bought my car from. I received my 3rd oil change 6 days ago and yesterday my car wasn't shifting gears so today I dropped it off at the dealership to have it inspected. They asked me who else has been working on my car and I informed them that I've only had on oil change from this place. They told me that my cooling system was contaminated and that someone put the wrong coolant and my radiator will over heat if I don't have it flushed. Considering I've only gone to this place and the problem happened only 6 days after I got my oil change I'm assuming it happened there. I was told that it is common that places fill whatever needs to filled while getting an oil change but obviously someone didn't do it correctly. The color of the coolant should be pink and when I saw what was in mine it was brown, thick, and bubbly. I thought they did a great job and thought I was saving money by purchasing this on groupon but all the money I saved from buying it was spent fixing the mistake they made. I guess anyone can make it seem like they are doing a great job at the time and later find out that they didn't do a good job at all. My only advice is if you do decide to go there do not have them do anything else other than the oil change that you came there for. read more

Worst Place! Ever! Don't waste your money! I had a budget van reservation for this place. I get there and they have no van, so the kid behind the counter gives me a truck and says we will give you a day free for your inconvenience. So, I thank him and take the truck. After returning the truck, I get charged the full amount. So thinking that it was an honest mistake, I go talk to them. I ask to talk to the manager, because the kid was not there. The so called manager "DAS" says they have no van. So, I tried explaining the issue to him that yes, you don't have a van and that's why the kid said that. Each time DAS cut me off, so the argument got pretty heated. While I was arguing with him another lady appears and is pissed about be overcharged. I asked who owns the place, he tells me 3 people are the owners. I tell him I need the owners number and he wants to give me the Pitstop number. Then I ask him who are the owners, he says he is the owner. After the games, the manager played I am waring everyone stay away from this place. Poor business practices and no customer respect. After purchasing, the owner tells me I have to pay an additional $19.00 PER OIL CHANGE for 10W-40 oil!!! Any of you that know the slightest thing about oil knows 10W-40 is the same price as 5W-30, 10W-30, 15W-40 etc. This owner is trying to screw his own customers, thinking we won't know any better. I used to love this place and have gone to them for five years and even got a few of my friends and family going there. Yesterday I showed up with a postcard type thing I bought from them that allowed $10 dollar oil changes and cost me $40. I was informed that I could no longer use it because it was expired even though there is NO expiration date on it at all. I wouldn't have ever bought it if there was. I think that it is shady and horrible customer service especially to someone who has been an ongoing customer and has brought them customers. The guy was super rude about it too. I wish there was a way to give zero stars! We used this location for our Budget Truck rental for our PCS (Army move) from Redlands to South Georgia. I reserved the truck 3 weeks in advance. Come moving day, they have no truck. Ken, the head dude there says I don't know where the truck is, but it should be here soon, its on its way. FOUR hours later we get a call saying the trucks ready for pickup, NOT so. I had to spend over an hour with one of the shop helpers arguing over charges I wasn't supposed to be charged, the car dolly was not the right one for our vehicle, which they loaded up onto the dolly anyway, denting & scratching the crap out of my bumper, which I witnessed them do and when I say something to Ken about the crumpling of my bumper on my BRAND NEW car, he says "Look Im trying to help you & you getting mad isn't helping", uhhh hello jerk, you just crumpled my bumper!! So they ghetto rig my car onto the truck, throw some two by fours into the back of the rental saying here, Ill give you these for free, you're gonna need them to get the car back off the dolly, and calls it a day. We wasted over EIGHT hours total with these morons and missed out on an entire day that could've been spent with our family before leaving California. Thank you, PitStop/Budget Truck Rental for being so effing incompetent that my head may explode. I DO NOT recommend anyone going here, whether it be for automotive repair or truck rental. Pay the extra money & go to the idiots down the street at UHaul, at least they know how to load a car on a dolly. Ugh! read more

I have one of the coupons for Pit Stop in Redlands...(multiple freebies and discounts) The first oil change was fast, courteous and complete. My second visit to Pit Stop was to diagnose a strange sound coming from the steering and to address the check engine light issue. Greeted very courteously and quickly. First issue was resolved fast with the aid of some much needed power steering fluid. The check engine light indicated that both O2 sensors needed replacing. Something they were able to do in about 1 hour. My only complaint was the mark-up on the cost of parts. The parts needed for this repair would have been $97.00 on the high end however I was charged $197.00 for them plus the cost of labor ($65.00) I understand that businesses need to make money but even after I explained my financial predicament, I would have not expected them to mark-up the cost so much. I've used this shop over the years for oil changes, some very minor repairs , the prices were reasonable and stuck with them for a while. this past year things changed. took one of my cars for routine high mileage maintenance , had timing belt and water pump scheduled to be changed. I got a competitive quote. My mistake was not to get a written estimate. Everything went down hill from there. They encountered one difficulty after another, I sensed trouble and I wanted to tow the car out but the owner Shane got upset and then reassured me they will take good care of my car. 5 days later I walked out with a bill that was 3 times the initial verbal estimate. had the work done been of reasonable quality I would not have minded . a subsequent visit for a routine oil and filter change at another shop revealed that there was trouble brewing in the belt assembly that was installed at PitStop. I took it back, Shane was there, the tech. that worked on the car as well. they lifted up the hood , peaked around and felt everything looked OK. 2 1/2 months later, engine light comes on, engine running odd and I limp in to the nearest shop on my exit. a foreign auto shop. they hook it up to the scanner and decide on looking at the timing belt assembly. it was loose and the belt got shredded. it was replaced , and things are operating well so far. I went back to PitStop to show Shane the belt and reminded him that this was an imminent problem, that the second oil/filter shop had noticed a problem and had recommended I get it fixed, that's why I had taken it back to PitStop. Shane got all uptight and started shouting, getting all defensive. he began attacking the other shops' quality of work , despite staring at the belt which in his opinion was a 'fresh cut'. bogus. beware of this place, their prices bring you in, you don't know how or what you are going to get out with . read more
