The whole experience with AT&T has been awful. Everyone in the PNW should be warned to stay away. Terrible service (network) and terrible service (customer service). Can barely get a signal all over Portland. Both T-mobile and Verizon are way better. When I signed up they added a bunch of stuff to my bill that I had to call and have removed. I never signed up for their insurance (the phone was insured with AppleCare). I finally decided to end the contract when they charged me extra every day that I was abroad though I never agreed to this and barely used my phone outside of hotel wifi. Their website said I could continue to use the phone while abroad and there was no mention of additional charges (though I'm they'll claim it was hidden on the fine print). When I switched to Verizon today I found out AT&T doesn't let you do that and that they carrier locked my phone so even though I have already left and signed up w/ Verizon, Verizon can't give me service until Tuesday because unlocking somehow takes 48 hours. Bad selection of phones too. Overpriced especially considering that it's the worst option in Portland. And this particular shop is sooooo slow. We were on there for hours while they tried to get everything to work. Geez. read more

I called this location because it's the closest one to my home. What I really hate is a robo screener that foils your every attempt to talk to a real person. That's what happened when I called just now. I know it's time to upgrade from my iPhone 7 because it's starting to do some funky things that I don't appreciate. Like dying on me because it says it's low on battery but when I put it on the charger suddenly it's 100% charged. We've been through some of my lowest lows and at my best. But I'm sorry old friend, you have to go. Just not with AT&T. I called a Beaverton location and they actually answer they phone. But the deal breaker for me is that I can't buy the phone outright. I went in the store to get a prepaid plan, I already had a phone that I brought with me that was unlocked. I purchased the phone from Amazon unlocked. The person that helped me told me that as long as the phone was unlocked that I should not have any problems. The first day I had their service I could not make or receive calls also internet service wasn't working, only texting being it was a holiday week I had to wait till Friday without proper phone service. I bring it back to the store to see what can be done about it and store manager was very rude and said there was nothing that could be done, no refund or anything. They walked us over to a customer service phone to call someone because they could not take care of us in store. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I will be going over to Verizon. This place honestly deserves a zero. I have never been compelled to create a yelp account until now. I started an internet service and then ended up finding a cheaper costing one so I canceled my plan with them. Upon canceling I realized they had triple charged me the $100 downpayment. This team has been entirely unhelpful with this problem over the past few weeks. Especially the manager Katie. She closed the refund ticket she sent in before it could even reach fruition. After visiting the store, calling, talking to customer service several times I was always getting different information from everyone. With not one cent back to me that they owe me. Had some unfortunate events take place after moving to Portland, girlfriends phone was stolen. Called ahead and was told I needed to be in-person to begin replacement procedure. I was pretty frustrated to discover a 3rd party AT&T store had set my phone plans up in a way I wasn't aware of but Carlos was extremely understanding, informative and helpful and helped us square everything away and get a new phone. Two stars is being generous. To make a long story short, we tried for a month to unsuccessfully move my old number to my current cell phone plan. We finally gave up after multiple hours on the phone and two store visits and just decided to get a new phone number. Why the two stars? On the last store visit I was in an out in 30 minutes with a new cell phone. After telling my harrowing story to the AT&T rep, who was blown away, he made life a lot easier. He listened to all my new billing questions and even took a look at my plan to see if he could trim the fat. Good news, he was able to get rid of few features that I never used and saved me about $30 a month. Why do cell phones companies play with our emotions like this?! Better to go in the store rather than wrestle with reps via the phone (always so confusing for me). I notice the major smartphone service providers are providing some better deals now. Competition is getting tighter. So look at the AT&T "Next" 24, 18 and 12 plans--no contracts, increase your data GB for less, and smartphone (like the iPhone 6) costs are deferred in separate monthly fees. This lets you upgrade to a new phone more frequently. If you are confused, don't be. Go to the AT&T store to save bucks on your bill. By the way, it is a block from the Apple store. Catch my drift. First of all, is there an option for ZERO STARS? Employees including store manager are either willingly misleading or, ignorant to current promotions and services. I was told I would get DirecTV free in my bundle and that "it would offset the higher priced AT&T service with free DirecTV", and was directed to cancel Comcast. Well DirecTV came out to install and that's when I found out the service was far from free and that DirecTV reps are experiencing this way too often. For the last 48 hours I have been trying to get answers but no one in that store is on the same page and they do not call back when promised. They said I was going to get $150 credit per line for opening a business account, so with 4 lines that $600. Plus another $100 credit, so $700 total. How come customer service just told me the max is two credits?!! I have 4 phones and asked for each to be insured, but I found out only 2 were setup with insurance- leaving me with an ever higher bill than originally quoted. Such a frustrating experience getting my new iPhone 8. At first it was a breeze. I came in, knew exactly what I wanted and left within 30 minutes. However the aftermath is what leaves me beyond angry. They disconnected the wrong line on my account which left my mom with no working phone. I immediately went back to the store (like within 10 minutes of this happening). I was told that although it was their mistake, I would be responsible for fixing it. They could do nothing at the store. They stated my mom would have to go into a store herself to get the issue fixed. So, my mom went to a store. Then the store told her to have me call customer service, who then told me the store should be able to fix it. The store then made me call customer service again where they said they could try and fix the issue. (Literally all they had to do was make my mom an authorized user on the account) Well, my mom waited at the store two hours and the phone still didn't work. The next day she called customer service and they were able to fix it within five minutes. All this hassle for no apologizes, no credit on my account, nothing. I was beyond furious and I can't believe the lack of customer service from this store, the other store my mom was at and the customer service through the phone. read more

I desperately wanted an iPhone but clung mercilessly to Verizon because of fear born of a preconceived notion that AT&T sucked. I'm still not sure about that "More Bars in More Places" thing though. I don't think you can beat Verizon in terms of coverage area. Until now, I used to think you couldn't beat their customer service either. Enter AT&T. I visited the store early in the week and worked with one of their reps whose name escapes me at the moment. When I figure it out I'll let you know because I think he deserves special mention. For the time it took to set me up with the service and explain everything, this guy's performance was amazing. The entire process took about 45 minutes out the door and I happily left with my brand spanking new, coveted-by-the-masses, working iPhone! A few days later, I decided to add another line to my existing service for a family member. This time I worked with Tiberiu, another amazing performance. he even agreed to ship the phone to it's destination, something they normally don't do. The only issue I have, and not enough to take away a star, is they cannot seem to figure out how to transfer the address book from a one smart phone (Treo), to another. That sucks. So I have to figure out how to do that on my own. Hell with that. I'm taking it all to the MAC shop and letting them figure it out. So far so good. read more

So today started out with a really shitty customer service experience at the AT&T on Broadway closest to the bridge. I called this store directly after leaving to ask if what I was told at the Broadway store was correct (you have to have a phone and a phone plan through AT&T in order to purchase an iPad.) Mohammad told me that the other guy was in fact lying to me for whatever odd reason and clearly not wanting to make commission off my sale. So I'm glad Mohammed hooker me up with exactly what I wanted plus some and for a better deal that I would have got ordering online and I left with an iPad, case and Apple Pencil one happy customer. This guy deserves a bonus or something. Thanks Mohammad for completing undoing the shitty customer service experience I had at the Broadway store and showing me an even better one than I had expected. The worst AT&T store I've ever been to and I've been a customer for over 4 years now. I feel so lied to and scammed. I was simply trying to get on my own individual plan. I was told by a medium sized guy, Asian, with black slicked hair, that my phone number couldn't be ported because it was linked to a "Unified Account" in another market, my hometown. The guy gave me a new phone number for my old iPhone 8 and told me that when I got my new iPhone 11 in the mail it'd have a new number and then my old iPhone would be credited towards my next bill. I get this outrageous bill in my email shortly after and have to go back in to get told "AT&T corporate just sends out inaccurate information, don't worry it's wrong." Then back a 3rd time to activate my new phone and turn my old phone in that was supposed to be credited back to my account. Well the guy charged me for two separate lines at full price and what should've been a $60-$80 bill is now over $100. At this point I've already been into this store 4 times over a month. When I went back into this store to have this "mobile share plan" charge taken care of, that same guy told me "sorry there's nothing you can do you'll just have to pay for it or sit on the phone for an hour" then just walks away and disappears into the backroom. When I asked the manager for further help he just seemed confused and pushed me off, again, to their customer service phone number. Sorry AT&T but you're customer service sucks and you're expensive. Putting my name on my own plan, with my own number, all in the end just so that I can give you MORE money, should not have been this hard. I WOULD'VE RATHER JUST GONE PHONE NUMBER-LESS IF I KNEW HOW MUCH YOU COULD BE CHARGING ME FOR ONE NUMBER FOR ONE WEEK. Cancelling my plan ASAP. Do yourself a favor and use another service. read more

Wow.... this is by far the rudest customer service I've ever received at an AT&T store (and from what I've heard, that's saying something!) Picture it: The day after Thanksgiving day, 2012. As it's Black Friday, any store should have ensured that they had enough staff to assist the masses that would pour in. But not AT&T. Apparently they don't realize that there are other wireless carriers in town. My mom and I walked into this store, and were initially courteously greeted by what appeared to be an AT&T sales representative - one of several T-shirted folks milling around. But after smiling and supposedly checking me in, when I asked if she'd be assisting me, the woman said "oh, no, our job is just to make you feel comfortable when you walk in." Translation: Our only job is to smile and be friendly to distract you from the fact that there aren't enough actual sales associates in the store. My name was added to a queue system and put up on a video monitor. I was made to wait ten minutes for a sales rep, while the 5+ "greeters" continued to mill around ineffectually. When a sales rep came up to me (finally) to assist me, I asked for an iPhone 4S in 32 GB. The sales rep looked at me, and told me that the store was out of stock, and that I'd have a hard time finding that size in all of Oregon. I remarked, somewhat annoyed, that the store shouldn't advertise something for sale that it didn't have in stock, to which the sales rep replied snidely, "thanks." Now, call me old-fashioned, but when I walk into a store prepared to pay $200+ for anything, I expect to be treated courteously. If a store doesn't actually have something in stock but advertises it nonetheless, that's pretty annoying, and I'd expect an apology - not sarcasm. I swallowed my frustration and just said that I'd take the 16 GB model instead. Then I asked the guy to waive my activation fee since I was a corporate customer. He started to give me attitude: "Listen, I'm trying to help you here...." Okay. Seriously!? I can just switch to Verizon and get better coverage and nicer customer service. Why am I taking this kind of abuse from this jerk-off? So I spun on my heels and walked out of the store, dragging my mom behind me. Verizon, here I come. read more

I guess I should know better, but I keep expecting a better experience when I go to an AT&T store. I am used to waiting for service when I enter the store, but this experience was a little on the long side. The young man that greeted us at the door was nice and courteous while he took our name down to put on the list to be seen by a AT&T specialist. After a 20 minute wait, and noticing that for a Saturday they seemed to be woefully understaffed, we checked with the young man on our position to be seen - only one person in front of us. After another 10 minutes of waiting, we were told it may be another 15-20 minutes. We decided to not wait and I guess I am stuck trying to get answers from the website and tech center which is always a joy! My wife and I just wanted to buy a case for my phone but they said it would take over 15 minutes because we would have to wait after all the other people waiting. I get that other people were waiting but why can't they get a system in place where they can sell that accessory to people in a short amount of time instead of waiting for all the other customers who are doing lengthy sales conversations about switching plans or buying a phone? I think for a large, money-making company like AT&T to not have a good system in place for people wanting to buy accessories and be that understaffed is a big problem they could easily avoid if they wanted to. I visited this store twice last week. On my first visit Yulia was helpful setting me up with new service and a new iPhone. When we ran into trouble porting my phone number over from my old carrier, she and other staff were diligent trying to help get it done, although they couldn't resolve it in the first visit. Went back the next day and Kylen was great getting this done for me - although it took an hour or so he fought it out with the porting department over the phone until it was resolved. Great customer service there! The store is pleasant as these places go, there are some benches for waiting and an electronic board showing your place in queue if you're waiting. Working with an associate you sit at high tables and they'll lend you a charger if you need one. The plan sign up process is all done on iPads which was efficient. Point off for no customer bathroom (I was there for 90 minutes on first visit!) Friendly staff who go the extra mile here, recommended! read more

I went in to discuss a SIM and network problem and Ricardo was super helpful. He not only was sympathetic to my concerns, he did everything he could to try and resolve it. Unfortunately, the issue is still unresolved but it was more of network issue. Ricardo gets 5 stars. I am giving the overall experience 4 stars because I attempted calling the next day (as instructed to) and waited on hold for a while. Completely overwhelmed with the exceptional level of service I just received on 9/20/16. I came in dissatisfied with the phone I'd upgraded to 3 days prior and expected to be given the runaround, but Patrick took care of me without a single hitch. He ordered me the black iPhone 7 I'd originally had my heart set on, and said I could keep the one I'd settled for until it arrives and simply mail the old one back! Furthermore I'd initially declined the $50 iPad mini offer, but had rethought things and wanted to do it so I came back less than 5 minutes later. At this point I dealt with Twyla, who was beyond amazing. I was bummed because they didn't have any 16gb iPads in stock, nor were they able to order one for me as they seem to be discontinued. Without going into great detail, Twyla was able to come up with an alternative that was MORE than satisfactory. She spoke to her manager who I think was Nicole or Nikki, and had me on my way in minutes. What a fantastic end to my day. No one returns phone calls and the manager is always "in a meeting." They absolutely do not care about their customers. I went into this ATT store just to ask a question about using my phone while traveling overseas. It was first thing on a Tuesday morning. Kale helped me by giving me some hints for setting my phone for oversea WIFI use that won't incur extra charges but told me what it would cost should I need to make a call or text in an emergency. He didn't try and sell me anything but answered my questions in a straightforward way. I had a very positive experience at this ATT store and would go back again. read more
