LIARS AND THEIVES! I was travelling through San Antonio and had urgent work done at this facility in Jan 2024. I had 423K miles on my 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser, and specifically requested an OEM fuel pump. I paid for an OEM fuel pump to be installed and was charged $351.42 for the part and $224 for labor. Turns out it is a cheap O'Reilly part that retails for $42.00. THEY OVERCHARGED ME $310!!! Now, a mere 15 months and 10k miles later, I must again change out the fuel pump - and again at a very inconvenient time. AT Automotive reps were Alex T. (Advisor) and Francisco R (Mechanic). Came in to have a muffler installed 2.5 hours later I was still waiting for my truck. This is after the guy at the front desk said it shouldn't take long your truck will be the first one in. DO NOT COME HERE! Approximately 9 months ago, I took my truck to do a "complete brake service (brake rotors and brake pads) and a tire change." As soon as my truck left the shop, it kept making the same brake scratching noise and my steering wheel began to feel shaky. I took it back multiple times to get that checked out, until I had enough of this place. 3 weeks ago, my brakes completely stopped working. When I checked the brakes out myself, I noticed that they never installed the back brake pads, so all this time, the caliper pistons were having direct contact with the brake rotors causing them to heat up and break. Thank God the brakes didn't stop working while I was driving it, if not who knows what could've happened. read more

EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS REVIEW (Sorry it's so long) BY FAR the worst experience I have EVER had at a car repair shop. No communication while they had my vehicle and my van was broken into and robbed off camera while they had it at their shop. Not sure if it they had a part in the break in or were just negligent. I'm hoping it was just negligence. My experience started on a Saturday afternoon. My van stalled out at a traffic light in San Antonio. I called AAA for a tow and quickly looked for a shop in the area. After a quick glance at the star ratings online choose this shop because it was open later than most on Saturday and seemed to have a good rating. I didn't really read through the reviews since I was in a rush or I would not have picked this place. Even the good reviews mention they have bad communication with calling back. I call them Saturday to make sure they received the van before they closed and they told me they did. The guy at the counter said it was late and they would look at it 1st thing Monday morning as they were closed on Sundays. That's what I figured when I brought it there so I said sure please give me a call when you know what it is so I can give an approval and get it fixed and back on the road. No call Monday morning. I called them around noon and was told the mechanic had looked at it so the guy at the counter just needed to speak to him for the details and that he would call me back in a few mins. Now its 1:00, no call back. I called back again and the same guy answered and said the same thing that he will call me back in a few mins. Again no call back. I played phone tag all day calling at least 6 times but kept being told it was already looked at just needed to go over the notes with the technician. Later in the day my calls started going to voicemail. I called on another phone number a bit before they closed as I figured they knew my number by now and were avoiding me. I was told the mechanic looked at it but left early for the day and that he didn't leave any notes on it. I couldn't believe a whole day had passed and I didn't have a clue what was going on with my vehicle. Tuesday morning I called early and was told again I would get a call back. At this point I had a rental car and was staying about 2 hours away and had plans I couldn't break or I would have driven down immediately and had my car towed to another shop in the area. I finally get a call back on Tuesday afternoon giving me the breakdown on what was wrong as well as the repair estimate. I approved it as I really wanted my van back and was in a time crunch. I call again at the end of the day Tuesday to verify it was fixed and was running well. Of course no one called me but at this point I knew they wouldn't. They said it was fixed and running well so I told them I would be there Wednesday morning to pick it up. Wednesday morning comes and I get to the shop and pay and grab my keys to go and to my surprise when I open the van it has been broken into and robbed. Me and my wife have been road tripping so we have a lot of stuff in the car and they took all the good stuff. Luckily we took out our most of our electronics and some clothes and had then with us at the motel but they got our mountain bike, video game system, (2) $300 travel backpacks, sneakers, clothes and more. I spoke the shop to see if they had cameras but they had parked the van in the area off camera and seems like the van was left unlocked the whole weekend. When I asked if they check if they lock the vehicles at night on the lot there was a long pause and a vague answer. We called the police but they couldn't have been less interested or less of a help. They refunded my repair which was a small step in the right direction and told me the manager would call me that Wednesday evening but he never did. It has been over a week and still no word from management or apology. Why wouldn't this story end in being ghosted by this place. Apparently that is their specialty. I highly reccomend taking your vehicle elsewhere. Though this place did fix my van and the price was fair, they let someone break into my vehicle while in their care the communication was so horrible. You can not ghost customers that's the worst thing you can do in a service based business. No pictures to take on this one. They stole my camera too. read more

Given my recent electrical problems, In going to have to change my initial opinion of this facility. After having my tire pressure light system checked, the staff said they reset my entire system. However, this month I've had to come in since there was an electrical shortage in my car and blew out both my headlights. The mechanic asked me if anyone had been messing around in my car recently, and this was the only location. I'm extremely disappointed that I now have to spend close to $600 on a repair to the entire electrical system which should have been a maintenance request earlier on. While I really appreciate the service in this location, I'm worried that it might be too fast and, in effect, lacking some attention to crucial details. Now, I have to spend the first day of my break waiting hours on repairs that may have been avoided in the first place. read more

There isn't many mechanics you can trust now a days and these people aren't it. I went in for an alignment and the said I need a whole new suspension, the guy drove my car for a mile and he already knew I needed all my suspension changed, I understand he might know what he's doing but I am also a mechanic myself I just don't have a machine to align my car. Either way I was quoted around 6k for the whole suspension change and it was going to take about a month, which is ridiculous, a month to swap out a suspension is ridiculous. My struts aren't even worn out they were replaced last year. Not a place I would go back for anything at all, friends had other unfortunate experiences with this place and never went back. I had a power steering pump hose fail a few days after a reman pump was installed.I take it to the AT auto and finally get my car on a Tuesday.Right before going there for the hose replacement, I was losing only a cup of coolant a month.When I go to pick up my car,lots of coolant was under the car,no one told me.Maybe they hoped I would find out much later.It wasn't like this before,the car was placed in their care and this was the result.This is suspect,I don't recommended this shop,look elsewhere. read more

They had it in the shop for 2 months before they finished what they were doing and the whole time were terrible as far as communicating with me what they were doing. I came to AT Automotive because I had read reviews on quality and price of this shop and it is close to where I live. Unfortunately, I waited for 4 hours for an alignment and was at the shop from 9:30 am-1:30 pm. I watched plenty of customers leave who arrived there later than me with more intensive work needing to be done. The price was good, and the desk guy was responsive. I will try this place out again due to the reviews and price, but my first experience was not a good one. I'm hoping it was just a off day for the alignment person. Polite and friendly as always but things sure changed. I used to know i was getting the best but today i called to get a price quote. I needed an o2sensor replaced. They quoted me 175 for parts and labor...so asked what if i brought my own part...and angel said 65 bucks...THEY NO LONGER PRICE MATCH...no o2 sensor costs over 100 dollars...they're 50 bucks and cheaper. Ive been comming to at auto for over 9 years bc they price matched and had very reasonable part prices...but now they WILL overcharge you! Cd's auto...is where im going...worth the 10min extra drive for a 45$ labor charge...i will now be using cd's auto...better prices...truthful friendly service...drastically better waiting room! read more

First, I'll agree with the other reviewer in that the shop is a mess. Stuff is everywhere. Even their TVs in the waiting area have cables just hanging with no effort to make it look clean. HOWEVER, I really don't care. I'm there to get my car fixed, not be impressed with the cleanliness of the shop or waiting area (although a nicer place to sit and wait would be appreciated). Alex is wonderful. He's attentive and is always moving to get things done for his customers. For the record, I've been there for two different jobs myself and I've had my uncle and a friend go for other jobs as well. I say that so you can know I'm not writing this review based on one experience. Brakes: 2006 Nissan Titan I had a quote at a reputable shop close to where I live. This shop is a franchise and is among the cleanest when it comes to the waiting area appearance. But, the initial quote was almost three times what AT Automotive charged me! They use quality parts (in my case, NAPA) and completed the job in a timely manner (I walked to Chris Madrids' for a burger) and for the right price. The brakes performed better than ever! Exhaust: 2006 Nissan Titan After buying my truck used, I noticed that the check engine light would not turn off. I took it to the dealer and sure enough the catalytic converters had failed (there are 4 of them). The dealership wanted almost $6,000! Um, NO! So I called around and got some quotes. Finally, this is how I found AT. Alex worked with me and we agreed on a solution that included cats and a new muffler (one of the higher end after market brands). The total was barely more than 1/10th what the dealer wanted! Both times AT Automotive exceeded my expectations (price and quality of parts and labor - I didn't set any expectations for cleanliness). These guys tried to rip me off. I went in to see about replacing my radiator. They wanted to charge me 600.00 to replace my radiator cause it had a small crack on the corner. I use youtube to see what it took to replace my radiator. All that needed to be done was disconnect 2 hoses on top and remove 2 screws on top. The entire process took me 20 mins that's including refilling the fluid. read more

I happened to find this place on Yelp last Saturday morning (Aug 8 2020) when I found my battery had been drained by a brake light that was stuck on (due to a sensor malfunction)-- Valvoline sent me to Firestone who were booked until afternoon even for diagnostic testing. So I drove here instead, explained I needed it looked at ASAP as I needed to pack my car and move out of state and this car issue threw a wrench into my plans. Fortunately, not only were they able to see me within the hour, they took care of the problem for a very reasonable price and I was on my way shortly thereafter. The staff are very courteous, professional (all wear uniforms). I noticed tire rotations are $15 (I had been charged $20 down the street at Valvoline). I wish I had found this place much earlier during my residence in San Antonio. I told my friends who remain there to keep this place in mind if they ever run into car trouble! After many years of driving cars that needed many mechanical services, I've driven a new-in-2007 car with no need for anything more than oil changes. Last year, when getting an oil change/State inspection at a chain quick place, they mentioned I should get my brakes inspected - and would probably need a $500ish brake job, perhaps at their place. And a bunch of other stuff like wipers...which were relatively new. AT Automotive is in my neighborhood - and is always busy, including fleet vehicles, which I noticed the many times I drove by. They also had good recommendations on this website and in the neighborhood. However, I emailed them on Friday afternoon and had an appointment Monday morning - busy is good and shows demand, but they are also efficient. They quickly inspected my vehicle and provided recommendations - of what was actually needed - which was NOT a full brake job with marked-up parts. Their labor costs are lower than I paid over 10 years ago on my hoopties, and they did NOT try to sell me anything I did not ask for (i.e. fancy oil, cabin air filters, wipers, etc.). I definitely recommend the shop for honest, fair-price, and skilled work. As for the waiting room...I've seen better, I've seen worse. It's got seats, cable TV, bathroom, and climate control. It's also been my experience that the quality of the waiting room is generally inverse to service/price - I've spent over 2 hours in a very nice dealership waiting room (which provided chocolate chip cookies!) - for a basic oil change and paid double for the automotive service. I live close enough to AT Automotive to walk home, but if a basic garage waiting room isn't your thing, there is the Beacon Hill greenway right next door for a walk - down to a basketball court for a game - or many local restaurants for a bite to eat while you wait. I'll definitely be using AT for my future automotive services. read more

Call A & T Automotive NOW! My car broke down on Dec 5th; so thinking it was the transmission and it might still be under warranty, I made the mistake of calling Red McComb's Ford West. They told me their earliest "appointment" would be on the following Thursday the 12th. Anticipating they would perform the repair. I asked if I could drop off the car the night prior and they said "yes". When I arrived, I was told by "Bobby" that I didn't actually have an appointment for work to be done, but merely an appointment to meet with a service adviser, and when I met with him, he told me how overworked and busy they are and that I would be lucky to even get a mechanic to look at it by Friday and that the car would be there throughout the weekend - and the cherry on top was a $135 charge just to hook the car up to their silly machine for the diagnostic. On Saturday, I called for an update and was told that both "Bobby" and the tech assigned to my car were off. So Monday came and went with nothing done, then on Tuesday "Bobby" finally calls me and says that the fan motor went out, and it would cost 700 dollars to fix. Long story short, I told "Bobby" to cease and desist all work, went to pick up the car, paid the 135 dollars I urinated away on their "diagnostic" and then did an after-hours drop off with A & T Automotive on Tuesday night. The next day, Alex got back with me quickly, gave me a quote for 288 dollars and had it fixed by close of business on Wednesday. He did, however, request to keep it one more day to diagnose the "wrench light" still being on and wanted to make sure the car was ok. He asked me when I had my last oil change predicting the place I went to may have not reset it - which was a correct supposition, because I noticed that after the oil change but forgot to go back. After giving the car a thorough once-over, he released it the next day. Alex and his team at A&T Automotive really care about their customers - and they did what a multi-million dollar dealership wouldn't do 8 times faster and at the cost with thorough care and attention to detail.
